As you’ve probably heard by now, Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, went missing on Saturday night.
Police now believe that Nancy was abducted from her home and badly injured in the process.
Earlier this week, staff at TMZ claimed to have received a ransom note demanding millions in Bitcoin in exchange for Nancy’s safe return.
Many were quick to dismiss the note as a hoax.
After all, they reasoned, this would be an easy way for a grifter to nab millions in Bitcoin despite having no knowledge of Nancy’s whereabouts.
But now there’s reason to believe that the note is legitimate.
For one thing, the Guthrie family seems to be taking it seriously. Savannah and her siblings issued a public plea for information on Wednesday night.
In the video, the Guthries requested proof of life from the authors of the ransom note.
“We, too, have heard the reports about a ransom letter in the media. As a family, we are doing everything that we can,” Savannah said at one point, adding:
“We are ready to talk. However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you, and we are ready to listen.”
Now, a local reporter in Tucson is claiming the outlet that she works for also received a ransom email pertaining to Nancy’s disappearance.
The journalist, Mary Coleman, told CNN (via Radar Online) that it was “clear after a couple of sentences” that the note may not be “a hoax.”
“A lot of it is information that only someone who was holding her for ransom would know,” Coleman revealed.
She added that the note contained “very sensitive information” and “things that people who weren’t there when she was taken captive wouldn’t know.”
These details included a “dollar amount, a deadline,” and “other specifics that only Guthrie’s abductor might know, so that definitely raised some red flags.”
“We immediately sent that information over to the sheriff’s department, and they’re, of course, looking into the legitimacy of it,” she said.
Obviously, all parties involved are being very selective with their comments due to the sensitivity of this situation.
We can only hope that Nancy will be returned to her loved ones soon, one way or another.

Jacksonville Jaguars Former UCF quarterback Blake Bortles wrapped up his first season in the NFL, who selected him with the No. 3 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft; the Jaguars finished 3-13 in what was their second season under head coach Gus Bradley. Tennessee Titans The Titans went 2-14 in a season that saw three quarterbacks start at least five games: Zach Mettenberger, Charlie Whitehurst and Jake Locker. Three months later, they drafted Mariota with the No. 2 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. AFC West Kansas City Chiefs In what was the team’s second season under Andy Reid, the Chiefs missed the playoffs. Detroit Lions Sticking with the playoff theme, the Lions led the Cowboys in the fourth quarter of their wild-card round matchup when a flag was thrown on Cowboys linebacker Anthony Hitchens on a third-and-1 with 8:18 remaining in the fourth quarter that would’ve given Detroit a first down in opponent territory. However, the officials picked up the flag, Detroit punted and Dallas took the lead for good on the next possession. Minnesota Vikings The 2014 season was the first NFL campaign for quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who made 12 starts. Across the 13 combined games that he appeared in, Bridgewater totaled 2,919 passing yards, 14 passing touchdowns, 12 interceptions and an 85.2 passer rating, while completing 64.4% of his passes. He also rushed for 209 yards and one touchdown. Chicago Bears The Bears fired head coach Marc Trestman after two seasons and a 5-11 record in 2014; they went a combined 13-19 from 2013-14. NFC South Carolina Panthers The Panthers won the NFC South with a losing record (7-8-1), but they then defeated the Cardinals in the Wild Card Round. In the regular season, Panthers wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin and tight end Greg Olsen each totaled 1,008 receiving yards, while linebacker Lou Kuechly led the NFL with 153 combined tackles. Atlanta Falcons Atlanta, which had missed the playoffs and posted losing records in back-to-back seasons from 2013-14, was on the verge of hiring Dan Quinn, the defensive coordinator of the Seahawks, as its new head coach after firing seven-year head coach Mike Smith. New Orleans Saints The Saints missed the playoffs in 2014 in what would be the first of three seasons where they missed the postseason (2014-16). In a sudden move, Luke Combs has unexpectedly pulled out of the EA SPORTS™ Presents Madden Bowl, scheduled to take place on February 6 at San Francisco’s Chase Center, just one day before the big event.
Combs, who was slated to headline the star-studded lineup, will now be replaced by Zach Bryan, stepping in to take over the headlining spot alongside Teddy Swims, Stephen Wilson Jr., Gavin Adcock, and LaRussell.
EA Sports confirmed the change, citing a personal reason for Combs’ cancellation: “Luke has to hold it down at home with a new one on the way. All love for Luke and his family.”
Combs himself shared a brief statement with fans, promising that family comes before anything else in his life. “So sorry to miss y’all at Madden Bowl, but family always comes first. Have a great time.”
Luke Combs and his wife Nicole are expecting their third child any time now. The couple made the announcement on Instagram in late September in a sweet post that showcased their two sons, Tex Lawrence and Beau Lee. At the time, they revealed the baby was expected to arrive “this winter.”
Luke and Nicole opted to leave the baby’s gender a surprise and promised they would be happy with “any and all lil nuggets.”
As a longtime football fan, Combs previously shared his excitement to perform at the event.
“Panthers football has been a staple in my life since I was a kid, so playing Madden has been something I’ve always done – still do to this day on tour,” Combs previously stated. “Getting the invite from EA SPORTS to be a part of the Madden Bowl at the biggest football game in the world – the Super Bowl, was a no-brainer. I can’t wait and I’m still holding out hope my Panthers will be there too.”

NOTN- Juneau officials are watching state decisions closely as local government prepares for what could be a difficult budget season.
Christine Woll, chair of the City and Borough of Juneau Assembly’s Finance Committee, said the committee is preparing for the upcoming budget process.
“We’ve been going line by line, through what we typically fund, and asking a lot of questions. And so last night, we invited some of our partner agencies in to talk to us, and did a deep dive into their budget.” She said.
Those groups included Travel Juneau, which handles tourism marketing for the city, and the Juneau Community Foundation, which administers grant programs supporting local social services. The city typically provides about $1.5 million annually to each organization, Woll said.
“Given that, we’ll likely be thinking about cutting some services over the next few months, we want to make sure we understand what they’re up to and the impact of the dollars that we put in.” Woll said.
The committee also heard from the Small Business Development Center, which receives a smaller amount of city funding but provides coaching and support to local small businesses.
The Juneau Assembly has not taken a formal position on the proposed Cascade Point ferry terminal project, which is being considered by state lawmakers today.
“The assembly has not taken a position on Cascade Point. We probably don’t all agree on it is part of the reason. Obviously it’ll have an impact on our city, so we’re interested to see what happens.” Said Woll, “Personally, I’m not convinced that it’s the best use of state resources, especially because we do have a struggling ferry system, but the assembly has basically said, we know this matters, but if we’re not all going to be unanimous in our decision, we’ll wait and see how things play out.”
Questions about state spending priorities extend to Gov. Mike Dunleavy’s proposed fiscal plan, which includes a statewide sales tax. Woll said the Assembly is still deciding whether to take a specific position on the proposal.
“We’re still deciding whether we want to take a specific stance on his fiscal proposal around sales tax. We have taken a position in the past that I think is going to be presented to the Legislature today. We are figuring out how we fund our state budget; it is going to require a broad-based tax of some sort, and so we are supportive of that.” Said Woll, “I know there are folks with some concerns about if it is a sales tax, as proposed by the Governor, because, of course, the city has a sales tax, and that’s usually about 50% of our general income. The challenge is, if the state also has a sales tax that takes away some of our local control, we wouldn’t be able to decide who gets exemptions.”
Woll mentioned the Governor’s proposed sales tax might also make it harder for voters to approve future municipal taxes.
“Voters have to approve our local city sales tax. So if the state puts a tax on top of that, it just makes it less likely that the voters will support a city tax. So that definitely makes me a little nervous.” She said.
The Assembly is expected to continue its budget discussions in the coming weeks.

Even embattled moguls can run short on friends.
In June of 2025, an actor accused Tyler Perry of sexual assault, filing a hefty lawsuit against the billionaire producer.
More recently, a second former employee came forward with a similar allegation.
A new report says that Perry’s famous friends are deliberately avoiding him — for fear of whatever comes next.
Mario Rodriguez and Derek Dixon both worked for him on different projects
Years ago, Mario Rodriguez appeared in Boo! A Madea Halloween.
In December of 2025, he filed a lawsuit, accusing Perry of sexual battery.
He alleged that Perry had made unwanted sexual advances, including touching his penis through his clothing.
According to Rodriguez, this took palce when he was being cast in the film and shortly after filming wrapped in 2016.
In 2018, the two apparently got back in touch and repeatedly spoke again, with their text messages over the years appearing cordial and even friendly.

This of course comes on the heels of actor Derek Dixon’s lawsuit, accusing Perry of using his power as an extremely influential producer to commit alleged sexual assaults and then pressure people into silence.
Dixon appeared in multiple Perry projects — most notably in The Oval. (If you weren’t aware, Perry has a whole slew of projects that have entirely flown under the radar unless you stumble across them)
Prior to filing his lawsuit, Dixon filed an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) sexual harassment complaint against Perry in 2024.
When that did not seem to induce any changes, he says, he turned to a lawsuit.
Not unlike Rodriguez, Dixon’s 2025 lawsuit described Perry allegedly using his power and access as an influential producer to engage in sexual misconduct and to get away with it. (Perry has denied the allegations against him)
Now, other pals in the entertainment industry are steering clear
A RadarOnline report claims that Perry’s friends and associates in the entertainment industry are giving him a wide berth.
“People are stunned by how quiet his friends are,” an alleged inside source dished.
Perry’s circle of friends has included everyone from Kerry Wahsington to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to Barack and Michelle Obama.
But none of them have rushed to speak out to defend the billionaire entertainment mogul.
“Normally Meghan would rush out with public support,” the insider suggested. “This time? Nothing. Not a word.”
According to the report, this goes beyond Perry’s alleged actions and bleeds into who was aware of them.
“This isn’t just about Tyler anymore,” claimed the source.
“It’s about who knew what,” the insider explained, “and when.”
As we have seen with the bone-chilling horrors of the Epstein files, there are often people who do not participate in crimes who are within the orbit of a powerful, influential predator.
Simply put, you don’t want to be one of the names in a story like that. Though, unlike with Epstein, the allegations surrounding Perry remain unproven and solely involve adults.
Is more coming? No one seems to know
However, there is a concern that Dixon and Rodriguez are not the only men who may come forward.
If and when the other (well, the third) shoe drops, Perry’s acquaintances worry about
“No one wants to be the first celebrity photographed standing next to him if this gets worse,” the alleged inside source summarized.
We have to once again emphasize that Perry has not bee convicted of a crime or successfully sued based upon these allegations. Even without more accusers, this legal dispute could continue for years.
Whatever the outcome, there will be those in or who have been in Perry’s orbit who will wish that they had made different choices.
