2026 NFL Draft: Ranking and Evaluating the Top 10 Running Backs

After the transformation of the NFL into a passing league over the past several years, with quarterbacks, wide receivers and tight ends positioned as marquee playmakers, the running back has recently re-emerged as a pivotal piece of the offensive puzzle. With defensive coordinators featuring more split-safety and two-deep alignments to limit big plays through the air, offensive playcallers have turned back the clock, increasingly relying on the running game to exploit the light boxes and underneath windows created by umbrella coverage. As evaluators study the 2026 running back class, they see a superstar surrounded by a collection of role players with the potential to excel in specified roles. Although most teams would love to find an RB1 to build around, this class features several complementary playmakers with the skills to make their mark as change-of-pace runners and short-yardage specialists as part of a running back by committee in the backfield. Given the success of the Chicago Bears and other teams in utilizing platoon systems, the 2026 draft will produce a number of productive NFL running backs. Here are my top 10 to watch. 10. Roman Hemby, Indiana The ultra-physical runner specializes in violent finishes on downhill runs. The Maryland transfer improved immensely during his year with the Hoosiers, flashing better balance and body control with more reps. As a potential rotational player at the next level, Hemby’s roughneck running style should translate into solid production as an RB2/RB3 with special teams potential. 9. Adam Randall, Clemson The former wide receiver is an intriguing option as a change-of-pace back slated for a role as a pass-catching specialist. Randall’s polished skills as a playmaker out of the backfield push him to the top of the list for teams looking for a dynamic weapon on third down or obvious passing downs. With the 6-foot-2, 230-pounder also flashing power and pop on downhill runs, Randall is one of the sleepers in the class. 8. Kaytron Allen, Penn State As a “three yards and a cloud of dust” master, Allen is the rugged workhorse that some offensive coordinators covet in the RB2 role. The 5-foot-11, 217-pounder is a same-speed runner with a knack for violent finishes. While his game lacks pizzazz, Allen was productive at Penn State (back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2024 and 2025) and is a good fit for teams employing zone or gap schemes. 7. Demond Claiborne, Wake Forest The shifty scatback flashes the quickness, wiggle and burst to create problems in the open field. Claiborne’s spectacular shake-and-bake moves, particularly in the screen game, make up for his lack of power between the tackles. Although his limitations will make it hard for him to carve out a full-time role, the 5-foot-10, 195-pounder could thrive as a playmaker in the style of veteran NFL back Kenneth Gainwell. 6. Nicholas Singleton, Penn State The big-play specialist is an intriguing option for coaches looking to add a home-run hitter to the lineup. Singleton’s speed, explosiveness and burst complement a rugged game that features physicality and toughness between the tackles. While his disappointing 2025 campaign raises questions about his consistency as an RB1, the pair of 1,000-yard seasons on his résumé suggests he is built for a featured role as a scatback in a wide-open offensive system. 5. Mike Washington Jr., Arkansas Big, fast and physical runners are always welcomed in the NFL. That’s why the league is suddenly buzzing over Washington’s potential as an RB1/RB2 as a pro. The 6-foot-2, 223-pounder is a rugged runner between the tackles, with the home-run potential coaches covet in a feature back. Coming off an impressive performance at the NFL Scouting Combine, following a 1,000-yard season as a fifth-year senior, Washington is an intriguing option for teams looking for a developmental prospect with workhorse potential. 4. Jonah Coleman, Washington The sleeper of the 2026 class features a dazzling display of cutback running with the ball in his hands. The 5-foot-9, 228-pound Coleman’s combination of balance, body control and burst makes him hard to tackle in tight quarters or in space. As an electric playmaker with a combination of running and receiving skills that should enable him to flourish as a three-down back, the Washington standout is one of the hidden gems in the class. 3. Emmett Johnson, Nebraska Do not let his subpar athletic testing numbers (16th among RBs at the combine) overshadow a dominant runner with a well-rounded game who could shine as a pro. Johnson’s outstanding balance, body control and burst make him a threat to split the crease whenever he attacks the line of scrimmage on a downhill run. Whether punishing opponents for over-pursuing on a traditional “Power-O” play or eluding and evading defenders on perimeter runs, the Nebraska legend is the perfect candidate to handle the heavy workload and rugged responsibilities of being a lead back. As an effective pass-catcher with exceptional patience and timing on screens, Johnson is the multi-purpose threat offensive coordinators covet in the backfield. [Ranking the Top 10 Wide Receivers in the 2026 NFL Draft] 2. Jadarian Price, Notre Dame It is rare for a college RB2 to rate as a first-round talent, but Price looked like a feature back whenever he touched the ball as a runner or returner for the Fighting Irish. Measuring 5-foot-9, 209 pounds with quick feet and excellent vision, Price displays the size and strength to handle the dirty work between the tackles, while also showing the speed to take it the distance when he turns the corner on an outside run. With Price also making his mark as a big-play kick returner, teams are looking for a versatile weapon to build around. 1. Jeremiyah Love, Notre Dame The 6-foot, 212-pound Love is the total package at the position, as a downhill runner with “score from anywhere” potential as a runner and receiver. Love posted back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons with 40 combined scores, exhibiting the pizzazz and playmaking potential offensive coordinators covet in a feature back with RB1/WR2 skills. As the most electric running back to enter the league since Saquon Barkley, the Notre Dame standout should garner All-Pro consideration from Day 1 as an explosive playmaker with a dynamic game.Latest Sports News from FOX Sports

Hunter Biden Challenges Eric Trump, Don Jr. to Cage Fight as Rest of World Struggles to …

Reading Time: 3 minutes

These are strange times in American politics.

We’re at war with Iran; the president’s wife is hosting press conferences about Jeffrey Epstein for some reason, and now presidential offspring are challenging one another to cage fights.

Yes, Hunter Biden revealed this week that he’s eager to square off against Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump in a real-life Celebrity Death Match.

Speaking on social media, Hunter said he’s been in touch with influencer Andrew Callaghan — who recently conducted those bonkers Shia LaBeouf interviews — and the two of them are orchestrating a political battle royale.

“I think he’s trying to organize a cage match, me versus Eric and Don Jr.,” Biden said about Callaghan’s efforts. “I told him I’d do it, 100% in, if he can pull it off.”

In an email to USA Today, Callaghan said that he believed Hunter Biden made the comments “in jest” but that he would be “more than happy to facilitate” the cage fight if Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump are “willing to engage Hunter in mutual combat.”

How would this even work?

Would Hunter take on both Trump brothers at the same time, or would this be a tag team situation?

And if it’s the latter, with whom would Hunter team up?

He should probably be allowed to choose from current Congressional Democrats, but that’s a dicey prospect.

Chuck Schumer and Bernie Sanders probably wouldn’t be much help in the ring.

John Fetterman is massive, but he might switch sides in the middle of the match.

AOC is one of the Trumps’ most-hated Dems, but if Hunter chose her, we’d just end up with another round of gender and sports discourse.

News of the fight (which, sadly, probably won’t happen) comes on the heels of reports that Hunter’s allegations prompted Melania Trump to host an impromptu press conference about the Epstein files.

“Epstein introduced Melania to Trump, the connections are so wide and deep,” Hunter said in 2025 (via USA Today).

The first lady described the claim as “false, disparaging, defamatory and inflammatory.”

Conservative outlets like The New York Post are using this week’s Hunter drama as a reason to dredge up less flattering stories about the former president’s son (because let’s face it, if the roles were reversed and the Trumps were issuing this challenge, the Post would be applauding it).

In their reporting on the cage match, the Post also alleged that Hunter is “too broke to pay his lawyers.”

“Neither we nor our client know the ultimate amount owed,” Biden’s lawyer Barry Coburn acknowledged when reached for comment.

Yes, the Post really buried the freaking cage match story beneath multiple paragraphs about the pay dispute between Hunter and his lawyers.

Look, we may not all agree on much in this country, but hopefully we can still concur that cage matches are awesome and we want this one to happen.

Mandy Moore Divorced: Her History of Marriage, Explained

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Mandy Moore has been married and divorced, and that only covers part of her relationship highs and lows.

Rocketing to fame in the late ’90s as a singer, most know her as a successful actress.

But her dating and married life have had some monumental ups and downs.

Here is Moore’s relationship history explained, and where things stand today.

Mandy Moore dated Vilmer Valderrama

For those who remember, Mandy Moore’s most infamous romance was likely with Vilmer Valderrama.

She and the That ’70s Show alum dated from 2000 until 2002, very early into her fame.

Valderrama boasted in a 2006 interview that he had been the first to sleep with her, adding that she did not feel “like warm apple pie.”

Talking about your ex like that is gross! Also untrue, as it turned out. Moore has stated that they have remained friends despite this inexplicable fib.

Her most famous (on his own) romantic partner was Zach Braff

Just a few years after her “Candy” music video perfectly captured the 1999-2000 aesthetic (the good and the bad, all in one place!), Moore entered a relationship with actor Zach Braff.

Their romance lasted from 2004 until 2006.

Two years later, in 2008, she began dating fellow musician Ryan Adams.

Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams married in March 2009

In February of 2009, Moore and Adams were engaged.

It was not a lengthy engagement, as the two married in March of that year.

Moore filed to divorce Adams in January of 2015, following six months of legal separation. In 2019, years after finalizing the split, she described Adams as emotionally abusive.

She has since gone on the Dinners on Me podcast to reflect upon the ill-advised union.

Going into the marriage, she feels, was a response to her parents’ divorce. Even knowing this, she admitted that she cannot believe that she made herself so small — but is glad to have learned lessons from that mistake.

In November 2018, she married Taylor Goldsmith

Later in 2015, Mandy Moore began dating another fellow musician, Taylor Goldsmith.

The two became engaged in September of 2017. This engagement lasted a little longer, as they married in November of 2018.

In February 2021, they welcomed son August “Gus” Harrison Goldsmith.

A medically inadvisable 15 months later, in October 2022, the couple welcomed son Oscar “Ozzie” Bennett Goldsmith.

Is Mandy Moore currently married or divorced?

In late September of 2024, Moore announced the birth of her daughter, Louise Everett Goldsmith.

All three children share Moore and Goldsmith as parents.

Mandy Moore and Taylor Goldsmith are neither divorced nor separated, and thus far show no signs of doing either.

Perhaps she has found her happily ever after.

Alaska House legislator’s aide arrested for DUI in Juneau

By: James Brooks, Alaska Beacon

The chief of staff for a member of the Alaska House of Representatives was arrested early Sunday morning in Juneau and accused of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Kathryn “Katy” Giorgio, 45, is an aide to Rep. Genevieve Mina, D-Anchorage, and pleaded not guilty to a class A misdemeanor in an initial hearing on Monday.

Her arrest came less than a week after Forrest Wolfe, a Republican and aide to Gov. Mike Dunleavy, was also arrested for driving under the influence. It was Wolfe’s second DUI arrest and Giorgio’s first.

Giorgio was released without bail. Ordinarily, DUI release conditions require that accused Alaskans stay out of bars and other places where alcohol is served.

In Giorgio’s case, Judge Kirsten Swanson and the municipal prosecutor agreed to one exception: Giorgio will be allowed to play trombone this week in the Red Dog Saloon as part of an Alaska Folk Fest concert.

Mina declined comment when reached by phone Thursday evening but confirmed that Giorgio remains a member of her staff and that the matter is an internal personnel issue.

Giorgio declined on Thursday to speak at length about the incident but said “it was a bad decision.”

“I was not driving erratically. I was a block away from my house, and it was just an unfortunate situation, and I’m working through the system to do what I have to do,” she said.

In an affidavit submitted to prosecutors, Juneau Police Department Officer Joshua Shrader said he pulled over Giorgio about 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning after observing her car speeding and “driving down the center of the road” in Juneau’s Mendenhall Valley neighborhood.

“While Giorgio was searching for her registration,” he wrote, “I noted an open can of alcohol in the center console cup holder. Inside the center console glove box, Giorgio picked up another can of alcohol and attempted to conceal it in a napkin.”

Shrader said both Giorgio and the car smelled of alcohol, and her breath alcohol level measured at 0.126, more than the legal limit of 0.08.

A status hearing on Giorgio’s case has been preliminarily scheduled for April 24. A hearing in Wolfe’s case is scheduled for May 18. According to online court records, both have hired defense attorney August Petropulos.

Noah Beck’s Sister One of Two Teachers Accused of Grooming Student

Reading Time: 3 minutes

This may be an awkward time for TikToker Noah Beck, but he is not the alleged victim in this situation.

Authorities say that his older sister and another teacher groomed and preyed upon a teenage boy who attended their school.

Though it appears that things escalated as soon as he was no longer their student, it appears that criminal activities took place while the victim was still a minor.

Even with some key details unknown, this is appalling.

In 2020, TikTok took off in the US, the world’s everlasting regret. Noah Beck was one of the platform’s breakout stars.

His older sister, Haley Beck, is not a public figure. But she has appeared in some of his videos over the years.

She is one of two Arizona teachers whom authorities accuse of grooming and sexually abusing the same teenage boy.

Haley is facing an investigation over a potential charge for inducing another to engage in sex work.

Angela Burlaka may face a charge on the accusation that she furnished obscene material to a minor.

On Wednesday, April 8, a spokesperson for the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office addressed the investigation.

“These submittals are currently under review,” the spokesperson confirmed, “and there is no timeline available for when a charging decision will be made.”

Apparently, investigators had first recommended a single pandering charge — pandering meaning attempting to induce one to perform sex work.

However, the police were tasked with conducting an “additional investigation” to determine the full breadth of necessary charges.

Haley was already placed on administrative leave in August 2025. This came after a report from the Peoria Police Department about an alleged sexual relationship with a (former) student.

An investigation by the Peoria Unified School District reportedly found that Haley Beck had allegedly offered oral sex to a former student of Centennial High School.

She allegedly also offered to buy him tequila. She is also accused of sending him $630 via Apple Pay.

The probe cites over 4,000 texts that the two allegedly exchanged between June 21 and August 2 of 2025.

Last month, on March 11, a Title IX advisor recommended that Haley be fired — and never rehired.

This decision stems from claims that Beck had “developed a sexual relationship” with this former student. The report accused her of “predatory practices” such as the exchange of money.

Centennial High School in Arizona.

Investigators seem to be looking into which charges they can bring against Haley beyond the “pandering” charge.

She is accused of grooming the student for months ahead of him becoming her former student. If so, then wrongdoing took place, though proving any crime may be tricky.

Meanwhile, Burlaka is accused of sending the same student sexually explicit videos while he was still a minor. That case may be considerably easier for the prosecution.

We know that Haley Beck has an attorney and is mounting a defense.

Without knowing more, it’s difficult to say more about what happened — or where things will end up.

Alaska GOP governor candidate Click Bishop picks Iñupiaq leader Greta Schuerch as running mate

Gubernatorial candidate Click Bishop, a former Republican state senator, on Wednesday announced he had chosen Greta Schuerch, an Alaska Native corporation board member, as his running mate.

Bishop is one of 18 candidates for Alaska governor. Incumbent Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy, a Republican, is constitutionally prevented from serving a third consecutive term.

Schuerch, 46, is from Kiana, a village in Northwest Alaska. She works as senior lead for government and external affairs for Teck Alaska, a Canadian mining company that operates Red Dog, an enormous but aging zinc mine near Kotzebue.

Schuerch was elected in 2025 to serve on the board of directors of NANA Regional Corp., an Alaska Native corporation that owns the land where Red Dog operates. The corporation serves more than 15,500 Iñupiat shareholders.

At a campaign event in Fairbanks, Schuerch said that she is motivated to run for lieutenant governor due to the high cost of energy and a state budget deficit impacting families and schools.

“The stakes are too high to sit on the sideline,” she said.

Schuerch is a registered nonpartisan. She ran for Alaska House in 2012 to represent the North Slope and Northwest Arctic. She lost in the Democratic primary election that year to Ben Nageak.

Bishop is the third gubernatorial candidate to name a running mate. Republican Bernadette Wilson named former GOP Sen. Mike Shower of Wasilla as her pick for lieutenant governor; former Anchorage Mayor Dave Bronson, a Republican, chose Josh Church as his running mate.

Bishop served 12 years in the Alaska Senate. He previously served as a state labor commissioner in Republican administrations.

Alaska lieutenant governors assume the governorship if the office becomes vacant. They are also Alaska’s top elected official overseeing state elections.

Candidates have until June 1 to file for the Aug. 18 primary election.

All gubernatorial candidates and their running mates will appear on the same primary election ballot. The top four vote-getters, regardless of party affiliation, will advance to the November general election.
