KJ Biermann Is Too Young to Serve 25 Years For Alleged Sex Crimes, Lawyer Claims

Reading Time: 2 minutes

As we previously reported, Kim Zolciak’s son KJ Biermann was recently arrested on sexual assault charges.

Kim says KJ is innocent, but he’s still being held without bail as he awaits trial.

Now, Kim’s lawyers are making it clear that they do not believe the 15-year-old son belongs in the adult criminal justice system.

KJ, who was 14 at the time of the alleged incident, is facing seven felony charges stemming from allegations involving a female classmate at a Life Time fitness center in Alpharetta, Georgia.

And if the son of the former Bravo star were ultimately convicted as an adult, the potential consequences would be staggering.

According to a new court filing obtained by Page Six, KJ’s attorney Jason Sheffield says the aggravated charges carry a mandatory minimum of 25 years in prison without parole — and potentially life in prison.

Sheffield is asking a Fulton County judge to transfer the case to juvenile court instead.

“At fifteen, KJ’s story is not finished,” Sheffield wrote, arguing that the teenager’s development is ongoing and that his future should not be determined solely by the allegations against him.

The attorney maintains that KJ is capable of rehabilitation through the juvenile justice system, where he could receive treatment, supervision, education, and structure.

“The adult system asks principally what punishment an offense deserves,” Sheffield wrote. “The transfer statute asks a different question: What should happen to this child?”

KJ has been indicted on charges including aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy, aggravated sexual battery, three counts of aggravated sexual battery involving a child under 16 and false imprisonment.

He has pleaded not guilty through his attorney, who has repeatedly maintained that his client is “100% innocent.”

Sheffield has also pointed to a passed polygraph examination and the absence of male DNA in the areas identified by the alleged victim.

The attorney is asking the court to provide additional privacy protections, arguing that the intense media attention surrounding the case could affect witnesses and their recollections.

“Neither child chose this attention,” Sheffield wrote. “Yet both must now live beneath it.”

KJ remains in custody at the Metro Regional Youth Detention Center in Atlanta and is being held without bond. His next bond hearing is scheduled for September 11, while his arraignment is expected to take place October 14.

For now, KJ’s legal team is fighting to keep the case in juvenile court — and to make sure a 15-year-old does not face an adult prison sentence before he has even had the chance to grow up.

Dolly Parton’s Family Didn’t Know She Had Cancer, Sister Reveals

Reading Time: 2 minutes

It’s been two weeks since Dolly Parton passed away following a brief battle with cancer.

And while the country legend connected with tens of millions of lives through her music and her humanitarian work, it seems that she could be a very private person.

In fact, even while privately battling cancer, the country music legend apparently remained determined to keep the people she loved from worrying about her.

Stella Parton and Dolly Parton attend Stella Parton's Red Tent Women's Conference 2014 at the Doubletree Hotel Downtown on April 18, 2014 in Nashville, Tennessee.

While we knew that Dolly had had some health issues, news of her death came as a shock to fans around the world. And, as it turns out, to some members of her own family.

During a new interview with CBS Mornings, Dolly’s sister, Stella Parton, revealed that the singer intentionally kept her diagnosis private from much of their extended family.

“Some of us knew, the ones of us that were closer,” Stella explained.

In other words, Dolly apparently wasn’t exactly sending out a family-wide memo about her health.

And there was a very Dolly reason for keeping everyone in the dark.

“She did not want people sad,” Stella said. “Dolly could not bear negative things.”

The country icon also didn’t want her millions of fans focusing on her illness rather than the joy she had spent her life spreading.

“She would not have wanted her fans worried about it,” Stella added.

That commitment to keeping things positive was apparently characteristic of Dolly right up until the end.

Her representatives announced after her death that she had “bravely” faced a brief battle with cancer before passing away at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville.

However, the family has not disclosed what type of cancer she had or how long she had been battling the disease.

Dolly’s niece, Jada Star, previously offered similar insight into the country icon’s decision to keep her health struggles private.

“She never wanted to worry anybody,” Star said earlier this month, explaining that the family “kept all that stuff real private.”

Dolly had experienced other health problems in the months before her death, including kidney and autoimmune issues, and canceled several public appearances.

But even as her health declined, she apparently remained focused on protecting everyone else from the reality of what she was going through.

That selflessness extended beyond her own family.

According to Stella, Dolly was even willing to undergo experimental treatments if doctors believed doing so could potentially help other patients in the future.

It was a fitting final chapter for a woman whose legacy extends far beyond music.

“She’d be really happy and delighted that people have shown her so much love,” Stella said of the massive outpouring of tributes following Dolly’s death.

She will be missed by millions for many years to come.

Riley Green Opens Up About Keeping His Fans at the Heart of His Music

Riley Green is giving fans a closer look at the mindset and approach behind his music as he gears up to release his next album, That’s Just Me, on September 18.

On Wednesday, September 9, Spotify debuted the latest episode of its Countdown To video series, featuring Green as this week’s guest alongside host Pat McAfee. During their conversation, the country star opened up about everything from his songwriting process and the achievements that mean the most to him, how his collaborations come together organically and more.

One of the biggest takeaways from the episode was when the Alabama native explained how he often puts himself in the listener’s shoes when making decisions about every aspect of his career. He explained that he often considers what fans want to hear and experience rather than focusing on what he personally wants to play or record.

“I look at everything I do in my career as a fan. What would I want to see my favorite artist do? You know when I’m on stage performing how would I want to make my setlist? It’s not necessarily the songs I want to play—it’s what does somebody that bought that ticket, that saved up, that works a construction job, what do they want to see me do?”

The same approach carries over into his album-making process. When Green goes into the studio to make a record, he asks himself, “what does that person want to hear me sing about?” At the same time, he has never lost sight of the stories and experiences that shaped him. He makes a point to stay connected to his Alabama roots and the values he grew up with by bringing those influences into every record.

“I always tend to make sure I find a way to write from that same place that got me here, which is a small town in Alabama where I grew up. So I always try to go home and write, you know, at least 4 or 5 songs going to be on every record from that mindset of just how I grew up and my family values.”

That connection to home has given Green plenty of songs that are inspired emotions and experiences of his own life. While those personal stories remain a big part of his catalog, he stressed the importance of having a balance between those stories and songs that anyone can relate to.

“I love those types of songs—sad country songs, story type songs, and then you got to have those…just fun, easy listening [songs] that makes you want to hold a beer up at a show,” Green told McAfee.

Beyond finding the right balance in his songwriting, Riley Green also uses each album as an opportunity to step outside of his comfort zone.

“Every record, I want to try to push myself musically a little bit into something that I’m not necessarily comfortable with,” he explained.

Riley Green; That's Just Me
Riley Green; That’s Just Me

With his upcoming fourth studio album, That’s Just Me, Green is stepping into a new chapter with even more vulnerability, as many of the tracks were written and recorded during a pivotal period in his life and career. This collection of songs will mark yet another achievement in an already impressive list of career milestones.

Riley Green has already accomplished a lot throughout his time as a country star, like earning recognition from both the CMA and ACM Awards, solidifying himself as one of country music’s most undeniable forces and racking up seven No. 1 songs to date. But when asked if he has a “North Star” or a major goal he’s hoping to achieve, Green simply explained that he does not consider himself to be “goal-oriented” and that he judges success different than fans might expect.

“I can’t think of things in my music career where I thought, ‘man, I’ve got to accomplish that.’ And then when I get there, I’m like, yes, awards, you know what I mean? The moments that stand out to me were playing the Grand Ole Opry and my grandparents being there. That was awesome. You know, number one records, great. And getting recognized at awards shows by your peers is a huge deal. Red Rocks was a really cool one. But for me, it was more like, I saw all the opportunities that I had, and I just felt like, man, I need to get as much out of this as I can.”

He went on to say that he often thinks about how many people would love the opportunity to do what he gets to do every day. That perspective helps him keep himself in check, especially when he catches himself complaining about opportunities that others would consider a dream come true.

“So I think that mine is—opposed to being like ‘this is my goal on the board I need to get to that,’ it’s more just like ‘man, I’m going to keep my head down and grind and see where that gets me.’”

The “Think As You Drunk” singer is currently in the midst of his largest headlining tour to date, his Cowboy As It Gets Tour, which will take him to major cities and arenas across the country through December.

Influencer Olivia Oras, 27, Dies While Undergoing Cosmetic Procedure: Police …

Reading Time: 2 minutes

In a tragic twist, influencer Olivia Oras has died.

Reportedly, she underwent a cosmetic procedure.

Police are investigating her death as aggravated manslaughter.

What happened?

How did Olivia Oras die?

Finnish influencer Olivia Oras tragically passed away on September 3.

She was only 27 years old.

The content creator’s family have not rushed to share which cosmetic procedure she was undergoing.

However, in public statements, they have described her death as a result of a procedure “gone wrong.”

For the moment, what we know is that her parents say that she passed away after going under anesthesia at a private clinic in Helsinki.

Some surgeries have known — and feared — risks, such as embolisms.

We are still hoping for more details, but expect them in the near future.

In a statement on Wednesday, September 9, Finnish police confirmed that they are investigating Oras’ death as a crime.

Specifically, they are looking into it as a possible case of aggravated manslaughter.

However, the investigation is only days old. No arrests have been announced.

Who was Olivia Oras?

Fans may remember Olivia Oras for building a following on social media when she was just a teenager.

In 2016, she took part in the The Perfect Selfie documentary.

The doc followed a year and a half of her life as a high school girl.

Her following grew during that time, and the documentary explored her relationship with social media.

In the 2010s, social media as we know it was still a relatively new phenomenon — and, for the most part, not yet a weapon of division and discord used by governments and aspiring techno-feudal overlords as a weapon against most of humanity.

Later, Oras went on to launch a nonprofit.

The organization supports pulmonary disease research.

In the process — and true to her influencer roots — she worked with multiple tech and wellness companies.

There is no “good” age at which an innocent person should die. But Oras was only 27.

Her family, friends, fans, and followers are all mourning this loss — and hoping that an investigation can give them answers.

NAMI Juneau hosts suicide prevention night for parents and trusted adults

Community outreach, photo courtesy of NAMI Juneau

This story mentions suicide, if you or someone you know is struggling, please call Alaska’s crisis and suicide prevention lifeline at 988, help is available today.

NOTN- NAMI Juneau is inviting parents, caregivers and other trusted adults to a community event next week aimed at helping them recognize and respond to youth struggling with suicidal thoughts and ideations.

Charity Anderson with the National Alliance on Mental Illness said many young people hide their distress, even as their behavior changes.

“It’s really easy for people to mask how they’re feeling. You know, they’ll put on a smile, pretend everything is fine. In the background, maybe they are isolating a lot more, maybe they aren’t reaching out to friends as much, if somebody is sleeping a lot less or sleeping a lot more, if they are withholding food or eating too much, those could all be warning signs that somebody might be struggling.” Anderson said.

Anderson said warning signs of depression are showing up in younger and younger children, noting recent Alaska data on youth mental health is especially troubling.

As mentioned in a story by the Alaska Beacon, ‘The suicide-death rate for young Alaskans hit a 10-year high last year and the rate of suicide attempts has increased over the past decade.’

The free presentation, “Signs of Suicide,” will be held Sept. 17 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Floyd Dryden. Anderson said it is geared toward parents, caregivers, coaches and any adults who regularly interact with youth.

The program is built around the message ‘ACT’ acknowledge that something is wrong, show the person you care, and tell a trusted adult or help them connect with support.

Anderson said it is important for adults to share their own experiences with mental health struggles when appropriate, to normalize those feelings and show youth they are not alone. She also encouraged people to ask directly if they are worried someone may be suicidal, calling the common fear that the question might “put the idea in their head” a myth.

“Let that person know that you are a safe place to talk to. Sometimes people just need to know that they have somebody there.” She said.

The event will include food, youth activities and supervised childcare so adults can focus on the presentation.

Trump indicates Department of Justice may bring case against Petersburg’s Dan Sullivan

By: James Brooks, Alaska Beacon

President Donald Trump speaks to the media as he arrives with his then-personal attorney Todd Blanche in court for opening statements in his trial for allegedly covering up hush money payments at Manhattan Criminal Court on April 22, 2024, in New York City. Trump was convicted of falsifying business records in the first of his criminal cases to go to trial. Since his election, he’s nominated Blanche to be attorney general of the United States. During a lengthy, meandering series of remarks last week, President Donald Trump offered another hint that his administration may seek to disrupt Alaska’s U.S. Senate election.

Fairbanks political writer Dermot Cole first noted Trump’s remarks.

On Aug. 18, NBC News — relying on unnamed sources — reported that the U.S. Department of Justice had issued grand jury subpoenas as it sought to investigate the campaign of Republican candidate Dan J. Sullivan of Petersburg.

The Alaska Beacon has been unable to verify that reporting, but on Sept. 2, Trump alluded to a possible investigation.

Dan J. Sullivan has repeatedly said his campaign was inspired by his dissatisfaction with incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Dan S. Sullivan, and that he did not work with officials from Democratic candidate Mary Peltola’s campaign on his initial run for office.

Despite that, Trump and Dan S. Sullivan have repeatedly claimed — without providing evidence — that Dan J. Sullivan is a fraudulent candidate.

On Sept. 2, speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said he would travel to Alaska before the Nov. 3 general election in order to campaign for Dan S. Sullivan.

Hours later, talking with Republican lawmakers at a dinner in the Rose Garden, Trump again brought up the Alaska race.

“I’m going to go up to Alaska for Dan Sullivan. Think of it,” Trump said. “They have a man named Dan Sullivan running against him, the Democrats.”

“I think, Todd, you have a legal case on that,” the President said, referring to Attorney General Todd Blanche.

The U.S. Senate confirmed Blanche by a 50-49 margin on Aug. 8. Sen. Dan S. Sullivan was one of the decisive votes in favor of confirmation.

In the August primary election, Democratic candidate Mary Peltola had 49.5% of the vote, Dan S. Sullivan had 41.4%, and Dan J. Sullivan had 2.5% of the vote.

Under Alaska’s election system, the top four candidates advance to the November general election. The fourth-place finisher in the primary, Democratic candidate David Leslie, withdrew after the results were finalized, which advanced the fifth-place finisher, Gerald Heikes, who had 1.1% of the vote.

Trump, speaking on Sept. 2, said that even though Dan J. Sullivan had only 2.5% of the vote, his appearance on the November ballot could be decisive in a close contest between Peltola and Dan J. Sullivan.

“Let’s say he takes two or three points away. That’s the difference between winning and losing. It should be illegal. I don’t know how the judges are ruling (on) it, but it really is terrible,” Trump said.

Dan J. Sullivan did not immediately respond to an inquiry from the Beacon about the President’s remarks, but after the publication of this article, he answered by email: “I will not let President Trump’s threats of retribution force me out of this race. I’m running to give a voice to the Alaskans who voted for me and to honor the intent of our ranked choice voting system.”

Editor’s note: This article was updated on Sept. 9, 2026, at 9:03 a.m. with a response from Dan J. Sullivan.

Sydney Sweeney Goes Fully Nude For Sports Betting App Novig; Controversy Erupts on Social …

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Along with politically fueled outrage, sports betting and nudity are two things that make the internet go round in 2026.

So Sydney Sweeney’s new ad for the sports betting app Novig might actually make your local data center explode.

Yes, Sydney is once again using her most famous assets to capture the internet’s attention — and once again, it’s working like a charm.

Sydney Sweeney attends the Los Angeles premiere of Lionsgate's "The Housemaid" at TCL Chinese Theatre on December 15, 2025 in Hollywood, California.

If you’re like most people, you’d never heard of Novig before today.

Now, the little-known app is trending on Google and across social media platforms.

And it’s all because of series of eye-catching ads in which Sydney promises that the betting platform is devoted solely to sports and doesn’t dabble in politics like other prediction markets.

Of course, it’s anyone’s guess how many viewers are actually bothering to unmute the viral clips.

Needless to say, the folks running the show at Novig are probably very happy with their decision to shell out for a partnership with Sydney.

For the most part, reaction to the ads has been positive.

“Greatest ad ever,” wrote one enthusiastic commenter on Sydney’s page.

“She’s got the whole internet malfunctioning.. AGAINNNN,” another chimed in.

But as with Sydney’s previous ad campaigns, there’s been some blowback too.

Some folks are giving the actress a hard time for promoting a gambling app.

The decision to legalize sports betting remains a controversial one, and many critics are concerned about the impact on the lives of young men, who are the obvious target for these ads.

And then there are those who are criticizing Novig not for the nature of their business but for promoting themselves with such provocative content.

“Selling your body to a gambling company. There will be a new book in the bible about this one day,” one user wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“I mean can we all agree that at this point Sydney Sweeney is basically just a porn star without the stigma?” another added.

“Here’s Sydney Sweeney being naked to promote a new gambling app in what could be easily mistaken for an SNL skit,” a third account complained, adding:

“IDK who’s more pathetic: Sydney Sweeney or dudes.”

Meanwhile, others have pointed out that this is no mere endorsement deal, and Sydney is actually an equity partner in Novig.

So even if there’s truth to the reports that Sydney’s lingerie brand is failing, she might still be well on her way to becoming a billionaire.

And while she’ll likely continue to draw criticism from puritanical haters, there’s no denying that Sydney knows how to make her assets work for her.
