Max B Pays Gravestie Tribute To A$AP Yams On His 37th Birthday

Max B honored the memory of A$AP Yams with a solemn visit to the late Hip-Hop tastemaker’s gravesite on Thursday (November 13) in New York, marking what would have been Yams’ 37th birthday.

The Harlem native, recently released after serving nearly 16 years in prison, made the pilgrimage just days after regaining his freedom.

Yams, born Steven Rodriguez, was not only a co-founder of A$AP Mob but also a major supporter of Max B while he was behind bars.

Yams died on January 18, 2015, at age 26. His death was attributed to an accidental drug overdose.

His passing left a lasting void in the Hip-Hop world, where he was widely credited with launching A$AP Rocky and shaping the A$AP Mob’s artistic direction.

During Max B’s prison sentence, which began in 2009, Yams publicly supported the rapper.

Max B was released on Sunday (November 9) after his original 75-year sentence was reduced to 20 years following a 2016 plea deal for aggravated manslaughter tied to a 2006 robbery that turned deadly.

His return to Harlem was met with emotional reunions, including a widely shared moment with longtime collaborator French Montana.

Within hours of his release, Max B wasted no time getting back into the mix.

He attended a New York Jets game, visited Avianne & Co. for jewelry, and returned to the studio to begin work on new music, including the anticipated “Coke Wave 3” with French Montana.
