Why Billy Ray Cyrus Missed the ‘Hannah Montana’ 20th Anniversary Premiere

On Monday night in Los Angeles, Miley Cyrus gathered with friends, family, fans and fellow co-stars of her early 2000s Disney Channel series, Hannah Montana, to celebrate the premiere of the show’s 20th Anniversary special. However, fans noticed that there was one important person who was absent from the premiere, Cyrus’ father, Billy Ray Cyrus.

A new social media post from the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer make it seem as though he traded the premiere for some time in the studio in Nashville to work on his next album. His new era of music also includes help from his son Braison and daughter Noah, who will be joining him on their father-daughter duet, “On Our Way Along,” dropping April 3.

His caption read, “Been in the studio all night in Nashville working on my new record with my youngins Braison and Noah preparing for our @todayshow performance on Good Friday! Dang feels like this is my “Sweet Niblets“ Sweet 16 on the road to the Final Four!”

The heartfelt song, “On Our Way Along,” is reportedly being produced by Braison Cyrus and Ryan Rasmussen while Noah lends her vocals.

Billy Ray’s absence from the red carpet was noticeable especially after fans spotted him in the trailer for the special that dropped today, March 24 on Disney+. The singer played a prominent role in the show as Miley Cyrus’ father, Robby Ray Stewart, and although he did not make an appearance at the premiere, he did offer a sweet message to his daughter when the announcement dropped.

“Robby Ray’s still the proudest dad in the world,” he wrote.

Disney Channel’s hit series, which ran from 2006 to 2011, followed Miley Stewart (Miley Cyrus), a teenager leading a double life as pop star Hannah Montana and trying to balance fame with a desire for normalcy. Two decades later, Miley returned to a recreated Hannah Montana soundstage to film a special, joined by guest stars including “Call Her Daddy” podcast host Alex Cooper, Selena Gomez, and Chappell Roan.

Billy Ray wasn’t the only member of the Cyrus family that did not attend the premiere. Miley posed on the red carpet alongside her mom, Tish Cyrus, and older sister, Brandi, before being joined by their respective partners, Maxx Morando, Dominic Purcell and Matt Southcombe. Miley’s sister Noah, as well as brothers Trace, Christopher and Braison were not present either.

Fans were excited to see several of Miley’s co-stars walk the red carpet, including Jason Earles, Moisés Arias, Shanica Knowles, Anna Maria Perez de Tagle and Cody Linley. However, the other two main characters who completed Miley’s friend trio, Emily Osment and Mitchel Musso were not there.

The “Best of Both Worlds” pop star stepped out in a glamorous silver dress, featuring a piece of her “Hannah Montana” character, Miley Stewart’s merch. She also completed the look with a blonde wig to truly embrace her former character.

Even though Billy Ray was not at the premiere, fans can still catch him in today’s special that is now available for streaming on Disney+. Additionally, he will unveil his father-daughter duet next month, marking the first taste of his first full-length album in 14 years. The project is slated to drop sometime this summer.

Kendra Caldwell Arrest Video Shows Duggar in Police Custody

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Just days after Kendra Caldwell’s arrest, the world can see her arrest video.

Joseph Duggar’s arrest led to an automatic search of his home, where investigators found reason to bring new charges against both parents.

A lot of people had to revise their support for Kendra after learning that.

In addition to Michelle Duggar’s freakout, we can see Kendra’s much more subdued manner in police custody. Take a look:

Here is the Kendra Caldwell arrest video

In newly unveiled video, which you can watch below, showing Kendra Caldwell in police custody.

The footage shows the 27-year-old mother-of-four sitting while handcuffed while a police officer speaks to her.

This appears to be video taken from shortly after her mugshot was taken.

After the conversation, Kendra undergoes a simple search of her pockets as officers ensure that she is not concealing anything within her mouth or clothing.

She and an officer then go into another room. Context clues suggest that she is about to undergo a cavity search.

Kendra’s arrest came on Friday, March 20.

This was only two days after Joseph Duggar’s arrest.

Her husband is accused of molesting a now-14-year-old girl when she was only 9.

During a family vacation to Florida in 2020, he allegedly touched her thighs and genitals multiple times — only to eventually apologize and stop the sexual abuse.

He reportedly confessed to the girl’s father and to authorities when confronted, and is awaiting extradition to Florida.

Her charges are not related to her husband’s, but …

After Kendra’s arrest for false imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child, the idea of it being a mere coincidence in timing seemed far-fetched.

But did that mean that she was involved in Joseph’s charges?

No. The answer lies somewhere between.

As we reported, police automatically searched Joseph’s home in light of the charges that he is facing.

There, they uncovered disturbing evidence that warranted these charges against Kendra (and against Joseph).

We do not know the full extent of what investigators uncovered.

However, we do know that they reportedly found doors that lock from the outside — like prison cells.

Finding that in any house would be chilling.

Discovering it in the home where the head of household is an accused child-molester was somehow even worse.

Though the odds of Kendra and Joseph facing serious consequences for this alone seem slim, authorities are charging both parents.

Nobody seems to be handling this well

A TikToker named Shabba documented Michelle Duggar having a full meltdown at those documenting after Kendra’s arrest.

“You cannot be here!” she screams in a video, as we reported.

“You are interfering with children,” Michelle oddly accuses. “Shame on you!”

We don’t know if interfering with children is the best phrase to use, under the circumstances.

But it’s best to not bring that up with Michelle — she will lose her cool. Such as it is.

2026 NFL Draft: Meet The Kicker Who Can Make a 70-yard FG and Run a 4.5 40

The NFL Draft is a month away, and pro days can yield the kind of ridiculous numbers that build intrigue around outside-the-box prospects you might have never heard of before. That’s the case with UTSA kicker Jaffer Murphy, a former college soccer player who turned heads at the Roadrunners’ pro day last week when he not only hit a 70-yard field goal, but then was timed at 4.50 seconds in the 40-yard dash. “I definitely wanted to stand out and do something that would impress the scouts,” the 24-year-old told me over the phone. “I was very blessed that it went the way that it did.” Murphy’s path to where he is now is unique, to say the least. He was born in Liberia in West Africa, moved to the United States in 2006 and was adopted here. He played soccer, basketball and football in high school, and was talented enough to play soccer in college at Drake and Florida Gulf Coast. He decided to give college football a try in 2024, playing at Division II Erie College, going 13-for-21 on field goals and connecting from as far out as 60 yards. That got him a spot at North Carolina as a preferred walk-on in spring 2025, but after sitting down with coach Bill Belichick, he wasn’t guaranteed a spot on their 105-man roster. So, he drove 20-plus hours to Texas to work out for coaches at UTSA and landed a roster spot there. He couldn’t win the place-kicking job, but handled kickoffs for UTSA, with 54 touchbacks in 88 kicks and two tackles on special teams. UTSA coach Jeff Traylor had lost his kicker to Oklahoma at the end of spring drills, and said while Murphy didn’t handle field goals for the Roadrunners, he was exactly what they needed on kickoffs. “We were in desperate need,” Traylor told me. “He hadn’t played football very long, but he was a wonderful, wonderful kid. All he needed was some time on task. He did a really good job for us on kickoffs. Super human, super athlete, and his best football is still in front of him.” What made a splash was his showing at UTSA pro day last week, going 12-for-13 on field goals, connecting from as long as 70 yards, and then showing off his athleticism with a 4.50 40-yard dash. Such speed from a kicking specialist is rare, of course — Georgia’s Jake Camarda ran a 4.56 at the combine in 2022 and was a fourth-round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, spending two years as their punter. Murphy ran the 40 and did the vertical and broad jump with other UTSA draft prospects, and said scouts walked up to him and asked him if he would run the “L drill” or three-cone drill, which can show agility and quickness. He did them, and the same scouts asked if he would be comfortable doing positional drills as a defensive back, a position he’d never played or practiced at. “I’m a kicker, but I can also be an athlete, so I’d love to,” said Murphy, who borrowed gloves from a teammate and went through drills, acknowledging his footwork may not be the best. “I just wanted to go out and have some fun, and they reminded me I had nothing to lose.” Jacob Enns, a trainer and kicking specialist in Tampa who has worked with Murphy over the past three years, said he was making field goals from 71 yards in their second workout together, showing a natural talent for long-range kicking. “When he kicked off, the comments on his Twitter posts were ‘This kid kicks like a Madden kicker,’ because it looked just like a video game,” Enns told me. “Now, hopefully, he’ll be able to do that at the next level. … A lot of it is God-given ability, and he has that aspect of it. When we started this journey, he told me [the NFL] was his goal. He’s doing the same thing he’s done each step of the way, trusting God to open the right door. He’s going to keep working hard to earn his spot.” Murphy is working on getting his accuracy to match his strength, and he’ll need to show teams he can handle the pressure of game-on-the-line kicks in real, high-level situations. In the last game Murphy kicked a field goal, the announced attendance was 250, which came during his time at Erie College. NFL kickers come in all sizes. Daniel Carlson of the Las Vegas Raiders is 6-foot-5 and 215 pounds, while Jake Elliott of the Philadelphia Eagles is 5-9 and 167. Murphy measured at 6-1, 180 pounds at his pro day, and said he “hopefully can change the way kickers are viewed in the NFL.” He’s gifted with a strong leg, but how does athleticism help a kicker? That could be in coverage after a kickoff, in the potential for trick-play gimmickry on field goals and extra points. Murphy is unlikely to get drafted next month, but could land with an NFL team as an undrafted free agent or as a tryout player for rookie minicamp. If a strong-legged soccer player with little to no college football experience becoming an NFL kicker seems far-fetched, it shouldn’t be. Cowboys star Brandon Aubrey, now a three-time Pro Bowl selection, played soccer at Notre Dame and in the MLS before trying football with two years in the USFL before he landed in Dallas. An even closer parallel is Lions kicker Jake Bates, who played college soccer and did kickoffs only at Texas State and Arkansas, then played a year in the UFL before making the cut with Detroit. “I love their game, love what they do, and I felt like I could go and do something that’s never been done before, whether that’s kicking or being utilized out on the field as well,” Murphy told me. Traylor said the interest from scouts was strong enough that he’ll have demand from NFL teams, either during or after the draft, but he’s eager to see what he can do on a larger platform. “Great teammate, high IQ. I’m a big fan,” Traylor told me. “He’s going to get into a camp. He’s probably got about 20 opportunities right now. We’ll see how long he lasts, but he’ll get into a camp.”Latest Sports News from FOX Sports

Alaska prepares to get rid of historic ferry Matanuska, one of state’s oldest

The state of Alaska is looking for someone to take the Matanuska, one of the first three ships built as part of the Alaska Marine Highway System after statehood.

In a public notice published Friday afternoon, the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities said it is now looking for “interested parties regarding the opportunities to dispose of the vessel in a manner that honors its historic significance while allowing it to continue serving Alaska in new innovative ways.”

DOT is primarily looking for people or groups interested in operating the Matanuska “as a museum vessel, maritime training ship, tourism or hospitality venue, community facility, research platform, heritage site, or other maritime or public-serving use,” according to a detailed document accompanying the public notice.

Any applicant would have to demonstrate that they have the financial resources necessary to take care of the ship.

Retired ferries are notoriously expensive to operate, and idealistic plans for other ships have repeatedly fallen apart. The former Washington state ferry Kalakala was turned into a cannery in Kodiak, recovered and towed back to Washington, but fell derelict and almost sank into a canal before being scrapped in 2015.

The Alaska ferry Taku was intended for use as a hotel after its retirement, but it ultimately ended up being scrapped in India

The ferry Malaspina was retired by the Alaska Marine Highway System in 2022 and is now being used as housing at a cruise ship terminal in Ketchikan. The business partners behind that effort are now fighting in court over a variety of issues.

Built in 1963, the Matanuska served as an active ferry for almost 60 years and still has a gold-painted funnel indicating its status as the “Queen of the Fleet,” the oldest operating ship in state service.

Despite that honor, the Matanuska has been out of regular service for at least three years, and has been laid up in Ketchikan for use as a “hotel ship” by the ferry system. Last year, DOT officials said the ferry system lacked the money needed to return the ship to service, and they recommended fully retiring it.

Proposals for the Matanuska’s future are due to DOT by 2 p.m. April 14.

“Letters of interest proposing scrapping, dismantling, or scuttling the vessel may be submitted for informational purposes,” the agency said, but for the time being, it’s looking at ideas to reuse the ship.

Dan Hurley Can’t Help But Look Past MSU to a St. John’s Rematch in Elite Eight

The warning comes from about every coach, every player each March — heck, in any sport as the stakes are raised as the games carry more gravitas — don’t look too far ahead. Worry about the next practice, the next game, not what could happen down the road. Then there’s Dan Hurley. The two-time national champion UConn coach seems to be reinforcing his classic brash ways by sharing his focus for Friday’s Sweet 16 game in the NCAA Tournament against Michigan State with the prospects of an Elite Eight matchup against St. John’s. Just like any East Coast fan or gambler who filled out a bracket this season, Hurley can’t help but follow the lines in the East Regional and see what a Huskies’ win against Tom Izzo’s team could get them — a rematch in Washington with two-time reigning Big East season and tournament champions, St. John’s. Coach Rick Pitino has the tougher task between Hurley and his Big East rivals — at least on paper — in getting the Red Storm past top-seeded Duke. [MEN’S BRACKET: NCAA Tournament Bracket, Leaders & Stats] Hurley, though, has a plea — the fanbases need to rally together for one night and root for their rivals so there is a chance for a fourth game this season between the schools, this time with a spot in the Final Four at stake. “It will be a live building. It’s probably a little bit early, but obviously, I think we’ve got to support each other,” Hurley said. “It’s pretty brutal on Twitter, I think, and socials between our fan bases, but I think we have to try to come together Friday night against our opponent so we can have a bloodbath on Sunday.” Hurley noted “it stinks a little bit” that two conference teams are set to potentially play in the regional final rather than in a Final Four. St. John’s took two of three meetings this season against UConn, the second being a 20-point win in the Big East Tournament title game. The Feb. 25 blowout loss at UConn stands as St. John’s lone setback since standing at 9-5 as of Jan. 3, with the Red Storm beating Northern Iowa and Kansas in the tournament. UConn started 22-1 but closed the regular season on a 7-4 stretch, a pedestrian record for a program that won consecutive national championships in 2023 and 2024. The Huskies rebounded with wins over Furman and UCLA in first- and second-round games last weekend in Philadelphia to reach their 17th Sweet 16. (The Huskies beat Michigan State in an exhibition game in late October.) Maybe it was playing in the East Coast that stirred up questions and comments about a St. John’s-UConn showdown before it could even happen. Duke is a comfortable 6.5-point favorite to beat fifth-seeded St. John’s while the Huskies are just 1.5-point favorites to beat Michigan State, per BetMGM Sportsbook. If both Big East teams win, look out, the home of the Wizards and Capitals could look and sound a bit like Madison Square Garden in conference tourney time. “I think it speaks to the quality of what us and St. John’s are this year,” Hurley said. “I think they’re a great team. I think we’re a great team. I think it was much needed.” Winning two games in the NCAA Tournament were much needed for UConn a year after it was bounced by Florida in the second round. The Gators would win the national championship — yet there’s no repeat this season after they were bounced by Iowa. [NCAA ODDS: Latest Men’s March Madness Odds, Favorites] The Huskies are back in their proper spot among college basketball’s hierarchy. They can thank Tarris Reed Jr. and Alex Karaban for getting the Huskies back to the Sweet 16. Reed had 31 points and 27 rebounds, the kind of sensational stat line not seen in the NCAA Tournament in nearly 60 years, in the opener against Furman. Karaban scored a career-high 27 points in the second round against UCLA. Karaban is a fourth-year senior in a career spent all at UConn — a rarity in today’s instant transfer, greater riches game — and a third national title would rank him with the players of John Wooden’s UCLA heyday in the rarified air of players with three rings. “I think he can just take us wherever we need to go,” UConn guard Braylon Mullins said. “We all have the confidence with him and he’s our leader. We all look up to him. He holds the standard with this program.” The Huskies hope they’ll be closer to full strength in the Sweet 16. Silas Demary Jr., a first team All-Big East selection, returned to the lineup against UCLA and played 22 minutes after he sustained an ankle injury in the Big East Tournament. Jaylin Stewart again sat out both tournament games with a knee injury that’s sidelined him since late February. The deeper the Huskies, the better shot they have at going deep in the tournament — and maybe get that date with Pitino and St. John’s. Taylor Frankie Paul Lashes Out at Public: You’re Making My Daughter …

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Taylor Frankie Paul has a lot to be upset about these days.

After all, ABC canceled Paul’s season of The Bachelorette after the details of her 2023 domestic violence arrest were revealed,

But instead of reflecting on her own actions and asking what she might have done differently to avoid this outcome, Taylor is playing the victim.

Taylor Frankie Paul attends the Los Angeles Premiere and FYC Event of Hulu's "The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives" Season 2 at Paramount Studios on May 09, 2025 in Los Angeles, California.

In a recent social media post, Taylor addressed her Bachelorette firing, but rather than taking accountability, she blasted the press and social media users for sharing the video in which she’s seen assaulting then-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen.

At one point in the footage, Taylor hurls several barstools at Dakota, one of which allegedly struck her daughter, who was seated nearby.

“Worst part is my daughter, [Indy], having to relive and see it all over again years later after extensive work with her and apologies [sic] to her about that night,” Paul tweeted on Monday.

The situation has been playing out publicly for weeks, and this is the first time that Taylor has mentioned her daughter’s reaction.

Indy was just five at the time of the incident. Now, at eight, she likely has a whole new understanding of the terrifying ordeal.

Taylor expanded on her daughter’s reaction to the scandal in a statement issued to People.

“I have a daughter who has been reliving seeing a video that she should’ve never seen,” Paul said, adding:

“I have a daughter who has had to hear people describe a video that she should’ve never heard described.”

According to Paul, her daughter has been hurt not only by the existence of the footage itself, but by the way people in the public sphere have talked about it:

“My daughter has continued to suffer the consequences of the actions of her father. My daughter deserves love and care. My daughter deserves her innocence,” she explained.

Paul said her goal in speaking out wasn’t to engage in an online debate, but to highlight how the situation has affected her child.

“This isn’t about fan wars, opinions, or narratives,” she wrote. “This is about a child seeing something no child should ever have to see.”

She also called for people to consider the real human beings involved when they comment or speculate on the situation:

“There is a human being on the other side of a screen,” Paul added. “There is a child on the other side of a screen.”

That’s good advice for everyone to keep in mind. But not surprisingly, Taylor’s latest comments have not been terribly well received, as many fans think she’s still positioning herself as a victim.
