Jamie Lee Curtis Cries Over Charlie Kirk Shooting, Sparks Confusion and Anger Among Fans …

Reading Time: 4 minutes

Jamie Lee Curtis has her own reaction to the death of Charlie Kirk.

She became very expressive as she discussed the shooting during an interview.

Across social media, many people are expressing bitter disappointment towards the actress who received heaps of praise just last month.

Is Curtis wrong? Are her critics? Both? Neither?

Jamie Lee Curtis is heartbroken over Charlie Kirk, even if she did not quite remember his name

On Monday, August 15, Jamie Lee Curtis discussed the Charlie Kirk shooting on the WTF With Marc Maron podcast.

“I’m going to bring something up with you just because it’s front of mind,” the actress announced.

Curtis continued: “Charlie Crist was killed two days ago.”

First point, it is possible that the podcast episode recorded on Friday, September 12, which would indeed have been two days after Kirk’s death at Utah Valley University.

Second point, of course, is that that is … not his name.

“Sorry, Kirk,” Curtis apologized after the host corrected her.

“I just call him Crist, I think, because of Christ, because of his deep belief.”

To be clear, she is not endorsing any of his statements

“I mean, I disagreed with him on almost every point I ever heard him say,” Jamie Lee Curtis emphasized of Charlie Kirk.

She seems to be referring to the far-right podcaster’s history of making racist, homophobic, misogynistic, transphobic, and Christian nationalist statements.

“But I believe he was a man of faith,” Curtis explained.

“And I hope in that moment when he died, that he felt connected to his faith.”

“Even though I find what his ideas were abhorrent to me,” she continued.

“I still believe he’s a father and a husband and a man of faith.”

Curtis expressed: “And I hope whatever ‘connection to God’ means, that he felt it.”

It seems that one particularly upsetting detail, to the actress, was that videos of the shooting proliferated across social media in the immediate aftermath.

In some ways, it’s less about the man and more about the cultural toll of violence

Jamie Lee Curtis lamented how “we, as a society, are bombarded with imagery” of real-world death and violence, including the shooting death of Charlie Kirk.

“So, we don’t know what the longitudinal effects of seeing those Towers come down over and over and over and over again,” she reasoned. Certainly, much of America seemed to lose its mind after 9/11, and portions of our nation have yet to regain their senses.

She also connected Kirk’s shooting to that of President John F. Kennedy.

Not because she was equating them in import (a podcaster, no matter how influential, is not a well-regarded President of the United States), but because the Kennedy Assassination took place on her fifth birthday.

“I’m associated with this awful day of someone being assassinated on television,” Curtis acknowledged, expressing a fear that our society has become “inured” to footage of real-world violence.

“We are numb to them, but they are in there,” she continued.

“We don’t know, we don’t know enough psychologically about what that does. What does that do?”

That is actually a very fair question.

And, however one feels about Kirk or his shooting, graphic images of gun violence are probably not healthy for our society.

Feeling the emotion of sadness is not an endorsement of a man

Some have been very critical of Curtis for seeming to express sympathy for Kirk, given how many swathes of people he maligned during his life. Her own daughter is transgender, after all.

But, at the risk of inserting a little too much nuance into an extremely polarizing topic, it is actually okay and normal for someone to feel saddened by a death.

This is not a universal feeling, even if certain aspiring thought-police attempting to punish people for not mourning properly insist that it be.

It is okay for Curtis to feel sad about a man’s violent death, no matter the quality of that man’s character in life. She is, notably, not asking anyone else to feel the same way.

Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos: Their ‘Agonizing’ Split Explained

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have been one of television’s most enduring couples.

They’ve worked together for decades. They clearly share a sense of humor. And it doesn’t hurt that they’re both incredibly hot.

Fans are understandably shocked to hear Mark describe their “agonizing” split.

And folks, you will not believe the gambit that he pulled to try to win her back.

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos broke up just one week before their wedding

During an appearance on the Skinny Confidential podcast this week, Mark Consuelos recalled his split with Kelly Ripa. It was brief. It also took place just one week before their wedding day.

“We eloped,” he acknowledged. “It’s pretty famously eloped and we told no one for a month.” They married on May 1, 1996.

“But, if you would’ve asked me a week before I got married and said, ‘When do you think you’re going to get married?,’” Mark admitted, “I would be like ‘I don’t know, maybe never, or 10 years or 15 years from now. And I was 25 years old.”

“It’s kind of a funny story as we broke up the week before. I broke up with her because I was dumb,” Mark admitted.

“And it was the most agonizing week of my life,” he added. “And I just knew I never wanted to feel like that. I’ve never felt like that in my life.” We believe it!

“She didn’t return any of my calls,” Mark recalled of the week. Fortunately, they were All My Children co-stars.

“And then we were meant to do a bit of PR together. We were on a soap and ironically, we were both going to be presenting a winner, it was Queen for the day, and we both tried to get out of it.”

His regrets were instant and powerful

“She looked amazing. And I was like, ‘Oh man, she looks so good. Boy did I screw up,’” Mark Consuelos said, gushing over wife Kelly Ripa 29 years and some change later.

“And so we do the segment. We barely speak to each other,” he narrated. “I’m trying to speak to her. We both smoked cigarettes back then. And so she went out for a smoke break.” (Yikes! But the story does get better)

Mark continued: “I said, ‘Do you mind if I come out with you?’ She said, “Yeah, if you want.’ And so that happened.”

“And then after the segment was done, she lived on the West Side,” Mark detailed.

“I followed her and begged her to take a walk with me through Central Park.” Gentlemanly, but not without an agenda.

“And she really didn’t want to but I was convincing and so she did. And then we ended up back at my place,” he shared.

“I lived downtown,” Mark explained. He then stunned the podcast host, adding:

“And I asked her to marry me.”

He asked her to marry him THE SAME DAY?!

“She said, ‘Ask me when you’re serious,’” Mark Consuelos recalled of Kelly Ripa replying to his proposal.

“And I said, ‘I am dead serious. We have a day off work tomorrow,’” he concluded the story. “‘Let’s fly to Vegas and get married.’”

That is precisely what they did. And they didn’t tell anyone about marrying for a month.

They have also remained married for what will soon be 29-and-a-half years. That’s older than some of the people who watched them on Riverdale.

Seth Dillon: Babylon Bee CEO Denies Making ‘Threats’ to Charlie Kirk, …

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Less than 36 hours after Charlie Kirk was shot and killed during a speaking engagement in Utah, his alleged assassin was arrested.

And while the case against Tyler Robinson seems fairly open-and-shut, many remain convinced that there’s more to the story.

Some believe Robinson had accomplices, while others are convinced he was a pawn in a vast conspiracy.

The discourse surrounding Kirk’s death has now been further complicated by shocking claims from conservative pundit Candace Owens.

Candace Owens speaks during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) at The Rosen Shingle Creek on February 25, 2022 in Orlando, Florida.

Owens has made a career out of courting controversy, and now, she’s positioned herself at the center of the year’s biggest news story.

To be fair, Owens and Kirk were close friends, so her motives in all of this might be pure.

But that doesn’t make her recent remarks any less incendiary.

Candace Owen says Charlie Kirk faced ‘threats,’ bribes over Israel

On Monday, Owens posted an hour-long episode of her podcast that has already been viewed nearly six million times.

In it, she alleges that Kirk faced pressure from powerful individuals within the conservative sphere, particularly billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman and Seth Dillon, CEO of the satirical news site The Babylon Bee.

“Last week was not a dream. Charlie Kirk, my friend, is dead. He was publicly executed. And as we’re all searching for answers, a lot of the ones that are being supplied to us are not making sense,” Owens said at the start of the episode.

From there, Owens alleged that during a “tense” lunch meeting in the Hamptons over the summer, Dillon and Ackman tried to coerce Kirk into showing his support for Israel by visiting the county.

Owens says that Kirk had been experiencing a change of heart regarding his support for Israel’s war against Palestine, and that he had previously been contacted by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to Owens, “threats were made” as part of a high-pressure “intervention” to get Kirk to double down on his pro-Israel stance.

She also alleges that some of the interested parties resorted to bribery.

“I know that Charlie was offered a significant amount of money during that time — a ton of money,” Owens said.

Who is Seth Dillon?

In 2018, Dillon purchased The Babylon Bee — a conservative, Christian alternative to news satire sites like The Onion — from its founder, Adam Ford.

Seth and brother Dan Dillon have been primarily in charge of the site and its content ever since.

He and Ackman have both responded on X to the claims Owens made about their meeting with Kirk.

Dillon stated that he was invited to a Hamptons retreat by Kirk, but “if there were any private meetings, I wasn’t in them.”

Ackman accused Owens of “slander,” writing, “For the record, at no time have I ever threatened Charlie Kirk, Turning Point or anyone associated with him. I have never blackmailed anyone, let alone Charlie Kirk.”

We will have further updates on this developing story as new information becomes available.
