Yandy Smith-Harris, Karlie Redd Fight Back Against Domestic Abuse

Yandy Smith-Harris spotlighted domestic violence awareness and survivor empowerment during a recent PIX11 News segment with fellow Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta castmate Karlie Redd, using their television platform to push for visibility and resources during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Appearing on PIX11’s New York Living on October 16, 2025, the two reality stars spoke openly about their advocacy work and the importance of community support for survivors.

Smith-Harris, the founder of the Big Heart Foundation and Karlie Redd used the opportunity to promote their organization’s Courageous Awards, which honor individuals who have endured and overcome domestic abuse.

The Courageous Awards ceremony, hosted by the Big Heart Foundation, takes place at Atlanta City Hall on October 22, 2025, from 7 P.M. to 9 P.M. The event recognizes survivors and provides a platform for stories of resilience during a month dedicated to raising awareness about domestic abuse.

“A lot of times, people just don’t have the resources, and they just don’t know. So we felt like with our platforms, we can really spread the word. And we didn’t just want to spread the word. We also wanted to honor the people that are really out there doing the work, because they are really doing the work every day, all day. And with this award, we hope that we bring awareness to these organizations, and we honor the survivors that have used their platform and their stories to help other people,” Smith-Harris said.

Karlie Redd joined Smith-Harris on the PIX11 broadcast to help amplify the message, stressing the importance of connecting survivors with support systems and resources.

“My husband got arrested for domestic violence and it went viral,” Karlie Redd said. “A lot of people were reaching out to me in my DMs, and one particular situation that resonates with me, which made me think about the Courageous Awards and coming to Yandy about it.

“A young lady reached out to me and she was just so lonely and she was going through it and I said, go get a hotel, get away, you know, and she did. And then I just didn’t hear from her anymore. I mean, we were talking every day. And I said, okay, well, maybe she’s okay. Her family reached out and said her music killed her, and that they saw the DMs, and they were happy that she had someone to talk to. And from then on, I said, you know what? This is something personal for me.” Karlie Redd revealed.

Both women have used their visibility on VH1’s Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta to advocate for social issues beyond the screen.

With over 4 million Instagram followers, Smith-Harris has built an extensive digital following that she frequently mobilizes for causes tied to justice and community upliftment.

Karlie Redd, also a longtime cast member, has similarly leaned into advocacy work, using her platform to support initiatives that affect women and marginalized groups.

Kim Kardashian Reveals Kanye West Hasn’t Called Their Kids In Months

Kim Kardashian revealed that her four children haven’t heard from Kanye West in months. She continues to raise them on her own while navigating a strained co-parenting dynamic.

During her conversation with Call Her Daddy podcast host Alex Cooper, the SKIMS founder opened up about the emotional toll of managing full-time parenting while still trying to maintain a connection between their kids — North, 11, Saint, 8, Chicago, 6, and Psalm, 5 — and their father.

“It’s not easy,” Kardashian said. “I mean, I raise the kids full-time. They live with me. I welcome a great, healthy relationship with my kids and their dad. He knows that. I push for it all the time, but I also protect them when it’s time for that and it goes in waves and phases.”

When asked how often West reaches out to the children, Kardashian didn’t sugarcoat it.

“Whenever he’ll call for them and ask. It’s probably been a couple months since we’ve heard from him,” she said.

Kardashian also addressed public speculation that she blocks West from seeing their children, pushing back on that narrative.

“There’s been so many times I just want to show all these texts, like what are you talking about?” she said. “I will always let them see their father… I send them to Saudi Arabia, Italy, Japan and I’ve never once denied it.”

She also reflected on her bond with her late father, Robert Kardashian, and how it shapes her approach to co-parenting.

“I have the best memories and the best relationship with my dad,” she said. “So I just welcome healthy relationships, but it’s not easy.”

The former couple finalized their divorce in 2022, with a custody agreement that includes joint legal and physical custody. West, however, is required to pay $200,000 per month in child support.

Earlier this year, West claimed on social media that he hadn’t seen their son Saint, which added to the ongoing tension between the two. However, Kardashian’s recent comments suggest she’s made repeated efforts to keep the lines of communication open.

Mickey Factz To Teach “The Art of the MC” As NYU Professor

Bronx rapper Mickey Factz has been named an adjunct professor at New York University’s prestigious Clive Davis Institute, where he will teach “The Art of the MC” starting October 23.

The course marks a significant milestone for the 42-year-old artist, who takes over from Black Thought of The Roots. Factz will guide students through the history and craft of Hip-Hop over seven weeks.

“It’s an honor to continue the legacy of MCs that preceded me to teach at the Clive Davis Institute,” Mickey Factz said in a statement. “I will be bringing my expertise, wealth of knowledge and mentoring to a historic space such as NYU.”

The class will function as a workshop. Students will explore song structure, freestyle development, and stage presence. They will also study the philosophies behind Hip-Hop as both a musical movement and cultural force.

Factz brings impressive credentials to the role. The rapper gained national attention as part of XXL Magazine’s 2009 Freshman Class alongside artists like Kid Cudi and Wale. He has collaborated with major stars, including Drake and Kendrick Lamar, throughout his career.

Beyond performing, Factz has established himself as an educator. He founded Pendulum Ink Academy, an online school focused on teaching lyricism and Hip-Hop fundamentals. The academy has graduated multiple classes of aspiring rappers.

“We could not be more thrilled to welcome Mickey Factz to the Clive Davis Institute for the ‘Art of the MC’ course,” said JD Samson, director of performance at the institute. “Professor Mickey is entering the department with his groundbreaking hip-hop pedagogy and decades of experience as a lyricist, educator, and cultural innovator.”

The Clive Davis Institute at NYU Tisch has long championed diverse musical genres. The program aims to prepare students for careers in the modern music industry.

Factz also has deep roots in battle rap, a competitive form of Hip-Hop that emphasizes wordplay and improvisation. This background will likely inform his teaching approach as students learn to craft compelling verses under pressure.

The rapper expressed gratitude to colleague Shawn Setaro for recommending him for the position. “Long Live Lyricism. Class is in session. Literally,” Mickey Factz added.

NYU students will now have access to instruction from an artist who has spent over 15 years perfecting his craft. The course represents the university’s continued commitment to legitimizing Hip-Hop as an academic subject worthy of serious study.

‘Your attitude is so disgusting’: California Walmart customer asks receipt checker to get her a manager. She can’t believe what the worker says next

A California Walmart customer is outraged after an interaction with a receipt checker she says had a “disgusting” attitude.

TikTok user @krymiariiver posted a video about the encounter on Sep. 30. “I’m walking out of Walmart with a Walmart bag that is bigger than my head, mind you,” she says to start the video. “And I’m listening to a voice note, right. I hear the lady at the door say ‘receipt’ but I’m literally on the phone, so I keep it pushing.”

Most of the time, the interaction would’ve ended right there. But the Walmart employee continued the conversation. “I hear her say, ‘You’re on camera,’” @krymiariiver says. “I take my headphone out and I turn around and I say, ‘Excuse me?’ She said, ‘You heard me.’ I said, ‘Yes, I did hear you, but I’m not obligated to show you my receipt.’”

California Walmart Customer Asks Receipt Checker for Manager

At that point, a woman behind @krymiariiver chimed in to agree that @krymiariiver didn’t have to show her receipt and that the employee was essentially accusing @krymiariiver of theft. “[The woman] asks her what her name is and Barbara takes off her name tag and begins to put it in her pocket,” @krymiariiver recalls.

The fact that the employee would hide her name tag indicated to @krymiariiver that Barbara might’ve violated store policy with her comments.

“So that’s when I asked, ‘Hey, Barbara, can I speak to your manager, please?’ She told me, ‘Go find her.’ Excuse me?” says @krymiariiver, clearly still outraged. “I said, ‘Oh my god, your attitude is so disgusting.’”

@krymiariiver concludes the video with a question for the corporation. “So my question to Walmart is why do you give the option to your customers to text the receipt or print the receipt?” she asks. “Because I texted it to myself. I didn’t have a printed receipt to even show her. Why is she sitting there pressing me over a receipt?”

Viewers React to the Walmart Receipt Incident

In the comments, viewers expressed disbelief at the situation and outrage on @krymiariiver’s behalf.

“The lady behind you being your hype man,” wrote one person.

A second person said they also opt out of receipt check. “I stopped showing my receipt when I learned it wasn’t forced,” they wrote.

“Walked out? Girl, you left without complaining to anyone?” said a third person.

Someone else suggested, “Call Walmart and ask for a manager. You have every right to get her in trouble.”

Do You Have to Show Your Receipt At Walmart?

In short, you don’t have to show a receipt when you leave Walmart. However, forgoing the receipt check might give employees like Barbara the impression that you’re stealing. If an employee does have “reasonable” suspicion that a shopper is committing theft, they are able (depending on state law) to stop and ask you for a receipt.

So it might be one of those situations where you don’t have to follow the rule, but it’s easier in the long run if you just do it.

All Hip Hop contacted @krymiariiver via TikTok comment and direct message for comment. We also contacted Walmart to clarify its receipt check policy via online contact form.

@krymiariiver did i steal the bag too??😭😭😭 like HUH @Walmart #walmartfinds #walmartreceipt #wrongfullyaccused ♬ original sound – krymiariiver
