Bruce Davis — a former Charles Manson lieutenant who spent more than five decades behind bars on murder charges — has died.

He was 83 years old.

Davis passed at 11:03 p.m. on September 11 at the California Medical Facility in Vacaville, California, where he was incarcerated, according to sources and the Solano County Coroner’s Office (per TMZ).

A cause of death has not been released.

Although Davis was a prominent member of Manson’s inner circle, he was not present during the 1969 Tate-LaBianca murders that left seven people dead, including actress Sharon Tate, the pregnant wife of filmmaker Roman Polanski.

Instead, Davis was convicted for his involvement in the murders of Manson Family associate Gary Hinman and stuntman Donald “Shorty” Shea.

Davis admitted to police that he attacked Shea with a knife. He also told investigators he was armed with a gun when Manson attacked Hinman with a sword.

The crimes eventually landed Davis in prison for life. Like other Manson Family members, he was originally facing a death sentence, but California’s abolition of the death penalty resulted in his sentence being commuted to life imprisonment.

And while Davis repeatedly sought parole over the years, his attempts ultimately went nowhere.

His most recent parole bid was denied in 2022. According to his attorney, Michael Beckman, a parole commissioner cited Davis’ “lack of empathy” when explaining the decision.

Davis also made headlines in 2024 when a scheduled parole hearing was postponed after he appeared on the podcast “The Lighter Side of Serial Killers.” He had previously written to host Keith Rovere in a 2023 Christmas card that he was “looking forward” to his upcoming parole hearing.

That hearing was ultimately moved to August 2024, when Davis was again denied parole. Manson himself died in 2017.

Debra Tate, Sharon Tate’s sister, offered a restrained response to news of Davis’ death.

“I always say a prayer upon their passing,” she told TMZ, referring to other Manson Family members who have died behind bars.

Tate added that her prayer asks that the deceased members “finally have clarity” about the actions they committed and that God have mercy on their souls.

Davis spent the final decades of his life incarcerated for crimes committed nearly 60 years ago.

Catherine Zeta-Jones doesn’t want you to call her kids “nepo babies.”

Even though her kids are actors who are the children of world-famous actors.

(And, you know, words mean things.)

But Zeta-Jones calls the term “horrible,” and explains why.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, Catherine Zeta-Jones is praising the acting talents of her children — while objecting to how some might label them.

“This horrific phrase ‘nepo baby’ is horrible,” she asserted.

Zeta-Jones explained that she feels this way “because these kids didn’t ask to be born into this.”

That is certainly true! We will elaborate shortly.

“They’re finding their own way in life,” Zeta-Jones correctly described.

Zeta-ones shares 26-year-old son, Dylan, and 23-year-old daughter, Carys, with husband and fellow famous actor Michael Douglas.

Now, both of their adult children are in the acting world.

“It’s hard for them to forge a way forward on their own” because of the baggage from having famous parents, Zeta-Jones expressed.

However, she praised that both of her children are “plugging away” at their careers.

Just to be clear, there are cons to being a nepo baby. There are just, you know, a bunch of pros also.

There was also a lot to say about the (nepo) babies themselves

Catherine Zeta-Jones did not focus exclusively upon the burden of their parents’ legacy when discussing her children’s burgeoning acting careers.

She gushed that both Dylan and Carys “love” acting — and that they are both skilled at it.

“Otherwise Michael and I would be the first to go, ‘You know what? Maybe law school looks really good,’” Zeta-Jones quipped.

Just to be clear, there are many paths outside of acting that are not law school.

To be even clearer, perhaps the children of Zeta-Jones and Douglas could hypothetically lead lives that are not career-oriented, if push came to shove. Just a thought.

We should acknowledge that Dylan and Carys are no the only nepo babies in the family.

However, Zeta-Jones might feel about the “nepo baby” label, she married one.

Douglas is a critically acclaimed actor and has been for decades, but he is also the son of the late Kirk Douglas.

Their children are not only the offspring of two Oscar-winners, but are also the grandchild of an Oscar-winner.

Here’s the thing: “nepo baby” is an acknowledgment of the reality of having famous parents who know the industry inside and out. It isn’t an accusation. And it shouldn’t be an insult. It’s just the reality of the situation.

The twilight years of once-great empires are usually marked by unprecedented corruption and an “everything is for sale” vibe, so we shouldn’t be surprised that that’s the case in America these days.

Presidential pardons are flying off the shelf like hotcakes these days, so when rapper Boosie Badazz found himself in trouble with the law, he figured he could get himself off the hook just by paying the right people.

But it seems that the embattled emcee did not get the outcome he’d been hoping for.

Boosie was arrested on gun charges in 2023. He says he later paid $600,000 to political operatives Jack Burkman and Jacob Wohl because they claimed they could help secure a presidential pardon from Donald Trump.

Spoiler alert: That pardon never came.

The rapper, whose real name is Torence Hatch, discussed the failed deal as part of a new 60 Minutes investigation into so-called “pardon brokers” — political operators who allegedly charge enormous sums while claiming they can get clemency requests in front of the president.

Boosie says he handed over the $600,000 upfront after Burkman and Wohl presented themselves as having serious connections inside Trump’s orbit.

At one point, things apparently got even more ridiculous.

Boosie claims his attorney was contacted on New Year’s Day and told that Trump had already signed off on the pardon, with the White House simply having not announced it yet.

Now Boosie is attempting to recover $300,000, arguing that his agreement with the pair called for half of his payment to be returned if the pardon was not delivered.

Burkman, however, has a very different version of events.

“We tried very, very hard,” he said, while denying that the alleged refund provision was ever actually agreed upon. He also argued that Boosie’s pardon effort became more difficult following the rapper’s arrest in Texas earlier this year.

The 60 Minutes investigation reportedly found that Boosie was far from the only person approached by alleged pardon brokers. Burkman and Wohl were secretly recorded pitching another potential pardon seeker on a $300,000 effort involving events, influencers and members of Congress.

Apparently, getting presidential attention doesn’t come cheap.

Some pardon brokers are reportedly charging as much as $3 million, while Burkman and Wohl deny doing anything improper. 60 Minutes also reported that pardon brokers themselves aren’t necessarily breaking the law simply by offering lobbying services.

The White House, meanwhile, has reportedly warned that people spending money to lobby for clemency are wasting it.

For Boosie, that warning comes about $600,000 too late. He wanted a Trump pardon.

Instead, he’s left fighting to get half a million dollars back.

Of course, “I paid $600,000 and never got the pardon” sounds like the beginning of one hell of an interesting hip hop song, so maybe this will all work out for Boosie in the end.
