Riley Green Shares Why Going Home to Alabama Keeps Him Grounded and Inspired

If you’re a Riley Green fan, you know that he has never strayed far from his roots, even as his country music career takes him to massive stages around the world. The Alabama native has always been proud of where he comes from, and he makes it a priority to go home whenever he can to allow himself time to recharge and reconnect with friends, family, and the place that shaped him as an artist.

“Yeah, I think that probably for me, from a music business standpoint, it’s hard to have blinders in this town,” Green recently shared. “When you’re so wrapped up in charts and awards and those type of things, it’s so easy to start looking at what somebody else is doing that’s having success.”

For Green, staying grounded means remembering where his journey began. “And for me, every bit of success that I had came from that small town in Alabama. It came from me playin’ in bars down there, writin’ songs, and playin’ ‘em for people down there,” he explained.

The superstar admits that while his schedule keeps him busy, going home remains important as it continues to inspire his songwriting.

“And it’s definitely very helpful to my career, inspiration-wise, to be in that place mentally,” he continued.

Having spent the year traveling the world to share his music with fans across the U.S., Canada, and Europe, Green knows all too well that being away from home for long stretches can make him miss the simple way of life in his hometown.

He admitted, “And then when you’re on the road, you know, you can almost forget what home feels like, what my grandmother’s house smells like, you know? So, it’s nice to go back every once in a while and kind of be reminded of that inspiration.”

By the looks of his current tour schedule, Green won’t have too much time to spend at home until his 2025 tour is set to wrap up with back-to-back nights at Resorts World Las Vegas on December 12 and 13. After that, he’ll enjoy a bit of well-deserved down time before heading to Mexico for Luke Bryan’s Crash My Playa in January and launching his 2026 headlining Cowboy As It Gets Tour.

The run will feature Justin Moore as direct support, with special guests Drake White, Mackenzie Carpenter, Zach John King, Hannah McFarland, and Adam Hood appearing on select dates.

Produced by Live Nation, the run will bring Green to arenas and major cities across the U.S., including stops in Nashville, Alpharetta, Cleveland, Saratoga Springs, Salt Lake City, Hartford, and more.

Jamey Johnson Reveals Why He Stepped Back From Recording Solo Albums For Over A Decade

Jamey Johnson went more than a decade without releasing a new solo album. After dropping The Guitar Song in 2010, the country traditionalist stepped away from the studio for 14 years. That break finally came to an end in November 2024, when Johnson made his long-awaited return with Midnight Gasoline. Now, he’s opening up about the reason behind the lengthy gap in his release schedule.

During that time, Johnson kept busy touring and working on other musical projects, but he admits his absence from the studio came down to the reality that making records just wasn’t paying off like it used to.

“The end result was making records didn’t make me any money. It didn’t move the needle for me financially. When it got down to fight or flight and I was stuck in fight mode, I was just like, man, that’s the last thing I need to be messing with right now. It was just [like] leave that alone,” he told Reid and Dan, hosts of the God’s Country podcast.

If Jamey Johnson had a song he wanted to put out into the world, instead of releasing it on a record, he would either showcase it during his live shows or sent it to other major acts like Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard or George Strait to cut for their catalogs. Taking the pressure of recording off his shoulders allowed the Grand Ole Opry member to get back in touch with his genuine love for songwriting.

“I sent songs to people and got some songs cut. But I just enjoyed my time. It was just taking some time and getting to be a true songwriter…I don’t write because it’s Thursday at 10:00 AM. I write because I can’t sit here thinking about this and not write this down. I’ve got to stop what I’m doing and go write. That’s why I want to write something,” he explained.

“It should be out of an abundance of passion. And sometimes you can aid that alone with Thursday at 10 with your schedule. You can’t predict when you’re going to be creative, but you can try Thursday at 10,” Johnson continued. “And that’s where I am with that too. If I don’t get things on the calendar, they don’t come to pass. They just are things that I’m always thinking about.”

Another method that Johnson has developed as a way to not forget his song ideas is to lean on the memories of other songwriters as a “memory backup.”

“One of ’em lately has been ERNEST and that poor guy gets messages from me at three, four in the morning. It’s a matter of time before there’s a song born from that,” Johnson hinted.

Jamey Johnson’s first and only song release for his own catalog in 2025 was a collaboration with Ronnie Dunn called “Never Gonna Be.” The legendary artist revealed that Dunn first sent this tune to him back in 2010 and it sat untouched until this year, but it was always still fresh on Johnson’s mind.

The twangy mid-tempo track highlights the grind of trying to make it in country music and the ever-changing scene of Music City. Johnson revealed that he served as the inspiration for the opening verse: “New kid in town, he’s a stoner/ Singing through a homegrown grin/ Up on stage, he’s a loner/ Got a small band of outlaw friends/ You can tell by his songs he’s done some living/ Oh he’s danced with a heartache or two/ Late night beer joint women/ He’s out to walk in ole Hank’s shoes.”

“He said, ‘I just wrote this song about you,’” Johnson explained. “I think to hear him tell the story now, I think in his mind at the time, they were watching Nashville change from what it used to be into something else, which is what Nashville’s always doing, by the way. Ronnie, his perspective of all that was the legacy of country music and big stars as bands and never going to be.”

Even though Jamey Johnson took a step back from the studio, he never let his connection with fans waiver. He will continue to bring his timeless storytelling to his loyal listeners across the country on his upcoming tour dates.

This weekend, he will make his way to The Nashville Symphony for his Symphony in The South performance, taking place October 17-18. He also has a slew of upcoming dates with Riley Green in November.

Thomas Rhett Shares Heartbreaking Tribute After the Loss of His Beloved Family Dog, Cash

Thomas Rhett is mourning the loss of a cherished family member. The country singer took to Instagram to share the heartbreaking news that their beloved family dog, Cash, has passed.

To celebrate the immense love that their chocolate lab brought into their lives, Rhett penned a heartfelt tribute paired with photos that captured Cash’s puppy days, the gentle moments he shared with the kids, and the irreplaceable joy he brought to their family every single day.

His message began, “Today our sweet little Cash man went to go be with Jesus. He was the most loyal, kind dog that I have ever known.”

The “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Woman” singer say that Cash was his wife Lauren’s “best friend” and acted as a protective and nursing presence with her and each of their daughters as they were welcomed into their home for the first time. Despite the more troublesome moments Cash may have caused at times, his loss has clearly been devastating for Rhett.

“He would stay up so many late nights with her while she was sick and I was gone. I never in a million years thought that a dog I got so frustrated with for eating food or tearing up things in the house would make me this sad,” he continued.

At the very end of the statement, Rhett encouraged fellow dog owners to “give them some extra love” as a reminder of how precious our four-legged best friends are, especially since their lifetimes are far too short.

“Our house is so quiet today. I know Cash is running around in heaven and will be the first one to greet us when we get there.”

Thomas Rhett and his wife, Lauren Akins, welcomed cash into their lives over a decade ago. He introduced fans to the young pup on April 8, 2014 via Facebook.

“Meet the newest addition to our family…this is Cash,” he captioned a photo of the tiny puppy in a field of wildflowers.

Since then, Cash has been by Rhett’s side through his rise to country music stardom and as his family grew from just him and Lauren to a family of six, with another on the way.

Though Cash may be gone, his memory will live on with the family forever.

Dylan Marlowe And Wife Natalie Share Shocking Gender Reveal For Their Twins

Dylan Marlowe and his wife, Natalie, have revealed the genders of their twins. The couple, announced on Thursday, October 16 that they will be welcoming two baby boys into their soon-to-be family of four.

Before the big announcement, Natalie shared a TikTok exploring several old wives’ tales that supposedly predict a baby’s genders. She tallied everything from heart rate to clear skin, headaches, morning sickness and emotions and the results came in at 4-3, in favor of a boy as the most likely gender of her babies. It turns out this prediction couldn’t have been more accurate.

The couple found out the genders with a little help from their two adorable pups: Banks, a Boykin Spaniel, and Bailey, a Golden Retriever. As a camera stayed on Dylan and Natalie to caption their raw reactions, they called out to their two dogs, who ran over each with a pair of blue balloons tied to them. The lovebirds were clearly in shock over the news that they would soon be parents to two baby boys.

They looked to each other in complete surprise while pure joy and laughter simultaneously radiated from their faces in the video set to Luke Combs’ sentimental tune, “Little Country Boys.”

“I was so wrong,” Natalie joked, referring to her predictions, before adding “I’m never wearing pink again.”

Marlowe chimed in an excited “Let’s go” and a “this is crazy.”

But the excitement didn’t end there. From behind the camera, another voice could be heard telling them another set of shocking news: their boys are going to be identical.

They wrote, “MARLOWE TWINS ARE …. thank you Jesus for little IDENTICAL boys !!!!! 🩵😭 I’m still not over it.”

After struggling with infertility for almost two years, the couple was ecstatic to announce that they were not only expecting one baby but two! They shared the life update with fans back in September using a set of stunning maternity photos on Instagram.

Dylan and Natalie both held big smiles as they held sonogram photos and debuted the growing baby bump. The mom-to-be’s caption read, “MARLOWE PARTY OF 4 COMING SOON 🤎”

The couple previously told Country Now that they first met at a private Luke Combs/Brett Young concert that was held during a birthday party in the backyard of one of Dylan Marlowe’s friends’ houses.

At first, the “Boys Back Home” singer admitted “Nat did not want anything to do with me.” But they still exchanged numbers and even eventually, she came around.

“So we walked inside because Brett Young was inside. He probably has no idea the story exists, or Luke, I’ll probably tell him about it one day. But I walked inside and Brett Young was taking pictures with some of my friends’ buddies that put the thing on and my phone was not dead, but I turned my phone off and I said, ‘Hey Nat, my phone died, but I really want to take a picture of Brett Young. Can you just snap a picture? Just text it to me. Just send me the picture.’”

“So that’s how I got her number,” he shared proudly.

His plan appeared to work out pretty well because the pair ended up getting married in May of 2023 with a ceremony in Nashville.

Now with “healthy” identical twin boys on the way, Dylan and Natalie Marlowe are ready to embrace this next chapter as a family of four. And judging by their joy and excitement per today’s announcement, it’s safe to say the boys are already surrounded by plenty of love.

Best Eminem Collaborations: 14 Times Slim Shady Stole The Show

Eminem and Dr. Dre

Eminem’s career has been blessed with a slew of guest spots from some of the world’s most celebrated artists, which has us thinking about the best Eminem collaborations throughout his long and varied career. From legendary, scene-stealing guest spots to the times he combined forces with others on his own work, musical alliances have inspired Eminem to deliver some of his greatest performances.

Here we celebrate 15 of the best Eminem collaborations of all time.

Buy the best Eminem collaborations on vinyl now.

Guilty Conscience (featuring Dr. Dre) (1999)

This early single sees Eminem pit himself against his mentor in a battle of moral wills, with Dr. Dre playing the guilty-conscience angel to Eminem’s opposing devil (delivered in full nihilist Slim Shady mode). In an astonishingly cheeky sleight of hand, Em throws Dre’s past misdemeanors back at him.

Dr. Dre: Forgot About Dre (2001)

Keen to give full exposure to his young protégé, Dre returned the favor with a number of guest spots on his album 2001. “Forgot About Dre” remains one of the best Eminem collaborations, as the man born Marshall Mathers proves himself worthy of Dre’s confidence, delivering a series of rapid-fire, tongue-twisting rhymes over a classic Dre beat.

Jay Z: Renegade (2001)

The Jiggaman only handed out one guest spot on his sixth album, The Blueprint. Such was the jaw-dropping brilliance of Eminem’s slew of stunningly dexterous verses, he arguably outshone the in-form Jay Z himself. Rival Nas certainly thought so, later rapping the infamous diss: “Eminem killed you on your own s__t.”

Stan (featuring Elton John) (2001)

Eminem has pulled off no shortage of eye-opening collaborations in his career, but few can match the surprise that greeted this legendary rendition of “Stan” alongside Elton John at the 2001 Grammy Awards. Long vilified for his seemingly homophobic lyrics, the stirring performance and post-song embrace with the openly gay singer saw Eminem answering his critics in inimitable style. Its inclusion on the deluxe edition of greatest hits release Curtain Call ensured its place among the best Eminen collaborations.

The Notorious BIG: Dead Wrong (1999)

Taken from the Brooklyn legend’s posthumous album Born Again, this paean to hip-hop nihilism finds Biggie delivering a set of grisly threats in his typically dexterous style before Eminem ups the ante with a series of rhymes as shocking in theme as they were creatively brilliant.

50 Cent: Patiently Waiting (2003)

Signed jointly to Dre and Eminem’s record labels, Aftermath and Shady Records, Mathers gave his protégé the ultimate seal of approval with this appearance on Fiddy’s hugely successful debut album, Get Rich Or Die Tryin’. Em uses his bars to find common ground with his collaborator with some of his most memorably dramatic lyrics.

BoB: Airplanes, Part II (featuring Hayley Williams and Eminem) (2010)

In this uplifting testament to realizing your dreams, Paramore singer Hayley Williams’ anthemic, rock-inflected chorus provides the hook for rapper BoB. and Em to swap pre-fame tales of struggle.

Love The Way You Lie (with Rihanna) (2010)

Not only one of the best Eminem collaborations but also one of his most controversial, “Love The Way You Lie” finds Em and Rihanna taking on the subject of domestic abuse from the point of view of both abuser and victim. Given that both rapper and singer have admitted to being in abusive relationships in the past, the song is imbued with palpable feeling. Such was the song’s potency it became Eminem’s biggest hit to date.

Xzibit: Don’t Approach Me (2000)

Arguably the best of the pair’s numerous collaborations, this cut from Xzibit’s Restless album finds them trading tales about the pitfalls of stardom. Providing the beats to the track himself, Eminem upstages his host as he relates a series of inventive rhymes dealing with his struggle for privacy. “And I’m the bad guy, ’cause I don’t answer my door/Like, ‘Hey, hi! You guys wants some autographs?/OK, form a straight line.’”

Remember Me? (featuring RBX and Sticky Fingaz) (2000)

Eminem nearly gets upstaged on his own song – a classic cut from his most critically acclaimed album, The Marshall Mathers LP. Over a dark and moody Dr. Dre beat, Death Row rapper RBX delivers a solid start before Onyx’s Sticky Fingaz answers with an explosive set of tongue-twisting bars. Ever the competitor, Eminem steps up to the challenge with a furiously inventive closing verse full of violence and comedy.

Dr. Dre: What’s The Difference (featuring Eminem and Xzibit) (1999)

Another stand-out track from Dre’s 2001, “What’s The Difference” is a classic example of the conversational back and forth that have made collaborations between the pair so richly rewarding. Dre and Eminem profess their feelings for each other in typically inimitable style… by offering to help murder their respective enemies.

Go To Sleep (featuring DMX and Obie Trice) (2003)

The trio combine brilliantly on this vicious diss song as they fire a well-aimed range of lyrical shots at the numerous enemies Eminem had beef with at the time, most explicitly Ja Rule and Benzino.

No Love (featuring Lil Wayne) (2010)

Both Lil Wayne and Eminem are in imperious form on this Just Blaze-produced highlight from 2010’s Recovery album, spitting a series of aggressive rhymes over a cleverly re-worked sample of Haddaway’s 1993 techno-pop hit “What Is Love.”

Walk On Water (featuring Beyoncé) (2017)

Released as a surprise single in advance of Revival, “Walk On Water” instantly earned its place among the best Eminem collaborations and provided an enticing taster of the slew of guest spots that light up his new album. Beyoncé supplies a winning gospel hook on a song that sees Eminem taking a reflective look on his past, when “… when I had the world by the balls/Eatin’ out my palm.”
