If you’ve ever attended a concert, festival, or large-scale event in Nashville, chances are you’ve seen the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department working behind the scenes to help keep fans safe. That was no different when Alan Jackson brought his final concert to Nissan Stadium late last month.
While the historic night will be remembered for emotional performances, heartfelt tributes, and stadium-wide singalongs, another important moment unfolded after the show as approximately 70,000 fans poured out of Nissan Stadium and onto the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge.
Amid the massive crowd, Metro Nashville Police Mounted Patrol officers were called into action after a “serious medical emergency” occurred on the bridge.

With thousands of people packed shoulder-to-shoulder, officers and medical personnel faced a difficult challenge: reaching the person in need quickly through the overwhelming crowd. That’s when Nashville’s mounted patrol stepped in.
In a new social media update, Metro Nashville Police shared how the department’s mounted officers and their horses helped create a path for first responders, allowing them to reach the emergency situation as quickly as possible.
According to the department, the mounted patrol was able to safely move through the massive crowd.
“Mounted officers were able to safely move through the crowd, creating a path that allowed first responders to reach those in need as quickly as possible. In moments like these, every second matters, and our horses gave emergency crews the access they otherwise wouldn’t have had,” the department shared.

The post also highlighted the incredible training required of the horses and riders, who remained calm despite the challenging environment surrounding them.
“What you don’t always see is what these horses overcome. Hundreds of feet above the Cumberland River, surrounded by blaring music, waving flags, thousands of shouting people, and crowds so tight they were brushing against them, they remained calm, focused, and professional. Their training—and the trust between horse and rider—made the difference.”
The department says the moment served as a reminder of the important role the mounted patrol plays during Nashville’s largest events.
“Sometimes the work we do isn’t immediately obvious from the outside. A mounted patrol is about far more than visibility or tradition. It’s about reaching people when others can’t, creating order in chaos, and helping ensure that when someone needs us most, we can get there.
No matter the crowd, no matter the challenge, the Metro Nashville Police Mounted Patrol will always do everything we can to get to those who need help.”

Hank Williams Jr. has been forced to postpone two concerts originally scheduled for this weekend due to poor air quality conditions across Michigan.
The Great Lakes State has experienced some of the worst air quality in the United States this week as smoke from wildfires burning in Minnesota and parts of Canada has moved into the region, creating hazardous conditions for residents and visitors.
According to The Detroit News, the conditions across the state could be “very unhealthy and hazardous.”

Hank Jr.’s team announced the schedule changes on social media early Friday morning, revealing that both of his Michigan shows have been rescheduled for next month.
“Out of an abundance of caution regarding air quality, this weekend’s Hank Williams Jr. shows in Michigan have been postponed and rescheduled to August 13 at Pine Knob Music Theatre and August 14 at Acrisure Amphitheater,” the statement read.
The team also assured ticket holders that their tickets will remain valid for the new dates.
“All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new dates. More information will be emailed directly to ticketholders,” they added.
Fans who were planning to attend the shows are encouraged to hold onto their tickets and await further updates from the venues and ticket providers.
Hank Williams Jr.’s concerts aren’t the only country music events being impacted by wildfire smoke across the Midwest.
Country Thunder Wisconsin, which kicked off Thursday and runs through Sunday, has been keeping attendees updated as officials continue to monitor air quality conditions caused by the wildfire smoke. The festival shared that it is working closely with local officials to ensure the safety of everyone on-site.
“Your health and safety is our top priority, and we will be providing masks for attendees at all entrance points if required,” the festival shared in its latest statement.
Organizers also reminded fans that “onsite medical staff is available 24/7 to assist with anyone experiencing health concerns.”
Meanwhile, Country Jam USA in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, is also moving forward as planned while keeping a close eye on conditions. Festival organizers said they are working with emergency coordination teams to monitor smoke alerts and the heat index throughout the event.
Fans attending the festival are encouraged to stay hydrated, take breaks in shaded areas, and wear masks if the smoke begins to impact them.

Luke Bryan is celebrating a milestone today as the country superstar officially turns 50 years old.
Ahead of the big 5-0, we caught up with Bryan backstage at CMA Fest, where he closed out the four-day festival with a headlining performance at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium. While fans were excited to see him take the stage, we couldn’t resist asking what he had planned for such a major birthday.
In true Luke Bryan fashion, his answer was equal parts hilarious and over-the-top.

“It will be a ginormous undertaking. It’s going to be a big party,” he teased.
Then, taking inspiration from his buzzed-about new song, “Fish Hunt Golf Drink,” Bryan painted a picture of what his dream birthday celebration would look like.
“There will be fishing. There will be golfing. There will be climbing of trees. There will be coffee. There will be Advil. There will be IVs. There’ll be Vitamin C… There’s going to be golf. There’s going to be skydiving, bungee jumping. Yeah. It’s going to be a blowout.”
Whether or not any of those plans actually make the itinerary remains to be seen, but one
thing’s for sure: Bryan knows how to keep fans laughing.
One person who may or may not receive an invitation is his longtime friend and fellow country superstar, Blake Shelton, who celebrated his own 50th birthday just a few weeks earlier.
Never one to pass up the opportunity to poke fun at his buddy, Bryan joked, “I wear 50 a lot better than him.”
He doubled down on the playful rivalry by revealing he wasn’t exactly rolling out the red carpet for Shelton on his birthday.

“[I’m] not inviting him to my party,” Bryan laughed, before adding that he sent Shelton “a save the date, but I didn’t even put the date on there.”
Of course, the friendly back-and-forth is all part of the duo’s longtime relationship, which has been filled with years of playful jabs. If Bryan’s birthday celebration is anything like he described, fans can expect it to be every bit as entertaining as the man himself.
Luke Bryan is currently on a break from his Word on the Street Tour, and will return to the road on July 23 with a show in Southaven, MS at Bank Plus Amphitheater. The tour runs through September 12.
His brand new album, Signs, is set to drop on September 18.

Caylee Hammack took a break from preparing for her upcoming trip to Alaska, where she’s set to perform this week, to catch up with Country Now about her new song, “Must Be Nice,” and share how it marks the beginning of a new musical chapter.
As she enters this next season of her career, Hammack reveals that she is embracing a more fan-driven approach to releasing music. Rather than keeping new songs under wraps until they’re finished, she’s been sharing small snippets of them on social media on the very same day they’re written. This allows her to get a feel for which ones resonate most with listeners.
“Must Be Nice” was a song that immediately raised its hand. When she posted the teaser, it quickly gained traction, racking up millions of views as fans flooded the comments asking her to release the full version.

“It’s kind of just my first endeavor, I guess, in letting the fans pick what they really want to listen to. I started sharing a lot of acoustic songs that I’ve been writing and I’m just sitting in my garden playing it with my dog walking around, posting on Instagram, posting on TikTok. And it has been wild to see the response to certain ones, to see how certain ones have led them to find other songs along the way on my page,” she explained.
With fans making it clear they wanted more, Hammack said she opted to take advantage of the momentum it was gaining and release it as soon as possible.
It’s not a mystery why “Must Be Nice” quickly captivated her listeners. Through clever lyrics and plenty of humor, the song playfully touches on the often-overlooked work done by a wife that keeps a household running.

Hammack sings from the perspective of a woman who reflects on how great it must be to live the life of a husband who can go to the bars and have a carefree time knowing that the wife has dinner cooking at home or that their socks will be all be matching or that his bed will have fresh sheets every week. It might seem like all these little tasks get accomplished “like magic” but the truth is, it’s the wife behind it all.
Even though the story itself shines a light on a reality many wives know all too well, its sassy lyrics and upbeat, catchy melody keep the tune fun, lighthearted and impossible not to sing along to.
She sings, “It must be nice/ well it must be something to just show up in life/ And worry about nothing/ Well it all gets done just like its magic/ Must be nice/ To have a wife.”

Hammack shares that the writing session that day was certainty a memorable one. The Georgia native sets the scene as she recalls showing up to Meg McRee’s in an old denim dress that was two sizes too big with her rain boots on amid the hot yet rainy day. With McRee and their other co-writer Brit Taylor both keeping an eye on their babies and Hammack with her guitar in hand, they began reflecting on the many different hats women wear in life.
“It was the most wholesome way of writing a song, especially from a woman’s point of view that we’re able to sit there with these two babies gurgling and cackling and crying in the background,” she explained. “And we’re recording these work tapes about being a mother, being a wife and having to take on all of the expectations that come with being a woman in today’s society. I’ve always heard it said that a man’s life gets better when he gets married, but a woman’s life you have more things to do. I don’t know if I 100% agree. I think a great partner makes any life better. It’s kind of funny that I sound like a man hating wife even though I’m not man hating or a wife yet, but it’s one of those things where it’s a true, honest story.”
There will also be an accompanying music video filmed in Hammack’s backyard and around her house that she says is expected to be “so much fun” and will add even more humor to the song.
“Must Be Nice” gives fans a preview of the plethora of new music Caylee Hammack has been working so hard on. On top of building out her next album, which is slated to be a very personal one, she revealed a duets album is also in the works. These collections will mark a major shift in Hammack’s career as she drops her first full-length project without the support of a label and moves away from trying to be someone she’s not just to please others.
“I remember going into that first record and trying to be almost less country and more what I would consider into that country pop side, thinking it would get me better tours as far as what was popular at the time in 2018…But I was just desperately trying to make something that I thought people would accept and give me a second of their time for. I was just so desperate to try to prove myself and get my one shot and not blow it,” she admits.
It took five years for Hammack to finally find the right songs to put together and create her next record. Bed of Roses ended up being a project that changed her life as it allowed her to run free with her creativity. This time around, she is free of a label and has ditched the “security blanket” that has been weighing her down for all these years.
“I’m going to spend my own money. I’m going to save every single penny I have, and I’m going to own my own masters for this moment. I’m going to know where every dollar goes, every single person’s role and what it is. And I’m going to just believe in myself more than I’ve ever believed in myself to make this happen because that’s the only way I can. And I found such strength in it,” she admitted.
In doing so, she let go of the pressure to be anything but her authentic, country music loving self, cut out the “middleman” and stopped taking things so seriously. These next set of songs will clearly reflect where she is at in her career right now.
“For the first time ever…I’m going out on my own and I’m going to figure this out and I’m going to figure out what I want to say, when I want to say it, and I’m going to give it to y’all and I’m cutting out the middleman just to see what happens. It’s been crazy. It’s almost like opening that door has opened another door to my fans of, I feel like we’re in a battlefield together.”
She continued, “I took everything very seriously in my first two albums, so scared I was going to mess up, so scared my label would be disappointed in me, that someone would be disappointed in me that I wouldn’t do good enough. And then something has happened that I realized I am enough. And that is not something that I take lightly because I think we all struggle with that sometimes.”
Caylee Hammack is taking her new music to the UK for a special four-show solo acoustic stint this July, kicking off in London on July 27, and later joining Brooks & Dunn’s NEON MOON TOUR 2026 this fall.
