23 Brazy admitted guilt Tuesday in the fatal shooting of a 10-year-old boy during a dispute in Franklin, Virginia, bringing a months-long manhunt to a close.

The rapper, born Tashawnda Drayton, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Southampton County Circuit Court for the August 2023 killing of La’Marj Holden.

The child died after being hit by gunfire when an argument involving 23 Brazy turned deadly on Artis Street.

According to Franklin police, the confrontation unfolded on August 9, 2023, when 23-year-old Brazy and three others arrived at a home in the 300 block of Artis Street.

An altercation broke out between 23 Brazy and a man at the residence, escalating into gunfire. Both the man and La’Marj were struck. The man survived after receiving medical attention. La’Marj did not.

After the shooting, she disappeared, evading law enforcement for nearly 10 months. U.S. Marshals located her in June 2024 at Brookside Square Apartments in Boykins, roughly 20 miles away.

Investigators said a family member had been sheltering her during the search.

Initially charged with first-degree murder, 23 Brazy accepted a plea deal for the lesser charge of second-degree murder. Court documents show she also faced charges of aggravated malicious wounding, attempted first-degree murder and several firearms violations.

During a March court appearance, her defense attorney requested a mental health evaluation. That assessment was completed and factored into the plea agreement.

The killing of La’Marj rattled the Franklin community. Local leaders called for accountability and stressed the urgency of addressing gun violence that endangers children.

23 Brazy is scheduled to be sentenced in December. Second-degree murder in Virginia carries a possible prison term of five to 40 years.

Nicki Minaj called out major brands and issued a three-day ultimatum to sever ties with Cardi B as their long-running feud reignited this week across social media platforms.

The Queens rapper took to X on Wednesday (October 1), urging her loyal Barbz to boycott any business linked to Cardi.

“We will boycott every company attached to her. Just like we did with BET. every company that enabled her disgusting remarks about children & other marginalized groups FOR YEARS,” Minaj wrote. “You have 3 days to cut ties. That is it. That is all. Enjoy your day. We have the receipts.”

She followed up with a pointed question: “Is Walmart & DoorDash ok with Barney b saying she’d get a transgender to rape her man? Drugged men? Dissing children for years? Wishing death?”

Minaj also referenced past corporate decisions involving controversial artists. “Reebok canned rick Ross fat sloppy ass for less. Didn’t they? Oh ok. Let’s see.”

The boycott demand comes amid a fresh wave of insults between the two rappers that began Monday.

Minaj mocked Cardi’s album pricing and took jabs at her lyrics, referring to her as “Barney B.” Cardi fired back with personal digs, including accusations about Minaj’s alleged drug use and its impact on her family.

The back-and-forth quickly turned personal. Minaj wrote, “Kulture vulture you ugly too,” referencing Cardi’s daughter. Cardi responded with, “Your son nonverbal cuz you f##### him up wit them drugs.”

Their animosity dates back to 2018, when the feud turned physical at a New York Fashion Week event where Cardi B allegedly threw a shoe at Nicki Minaj.

A video with over 700,000 views features a TikToker named Susan (@su.sann), whose partner purchased a Blackstone griddle cooking station with propane fuel, regularly priced at $297, for just $50. People are curious how this was possible. 

The 16-second clip shows the digital receipt for a Blackstone 4-Burner 36″ Griddle Cooking Station with Hard Cover from Walmart on Sep. 15. It’s locked in and already on the way to her home. In fact, there is a follow-up video of her receiving the griddle, as well as another showing the accessory kit for the griddle, which she purchased from Amazon. As of this writing, the griddle station is priced between $297 and $344.

In the comments for the original video, most said they did not see the griddle being sold for anything other than the regular price. Said one antsy gentleman, “Need that now!!!!”

One claimed, “Nope it’s a glitch and they will now charge u the full price.” A person replied, “Nope. I got one too. Except for $150 in my area. Not a glitch. It’s their annual clearance markdowns. Target has one going on right now too except it’s only in store.”

A few others quoted the $150 price point, and one claimed to see it for $50. The interesting nugget from the digital receipt, though, is the “$247.00 from savings.” This could indicate an incredibly fortunate reduction, but it could also suggest that a savings mechanism is being used. One person noted this possibility: “She has a $247 credit.”

But her caption says, “We love a good sale, Walmart!”

What’s also important to note are regional considerations. As one commenter astutely noted, “This is usually by areas. In [Georgia], they’re low right now because they’re getting ready for winter.” 

“We’re committed to meeting our customers’ shopping needs wherever they shop with us and understand in-store pricing can differ due to regional operating costs, extensive supplier networks, strict regulatory compliance, and competition,” a Walmart spokesperson said to Business Insider, in a story where the writer compared East Coast and Midwest pricing for other items earlier this year.

Basically, Walmart uses technology to analyze our shopping habits. Walmart will price items in a way it believes is appropriate to drive sales, per region, or even according to metro area. This means you could see interesting sales and discounts at seemingly random times.

Cardi B and Nicki Minaj reignited their long-running rivalry this week, trading a barrage of personal accusations on social media, with Cardi leveling claims of mental illness, substance abuse and financial control by Minaj’s husband.

The Bronx rapper took to X on Tuesday (October 1), alleging Minaj has been struggling with serious mental health issues and drug dependency for nearly a decade.

“The truth is you BEEN diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar for almost 9 years,” Cardi alleged. “You also on heavy drugs COCAINE..PERCS.. AND XANAX!!!”

Cardi didn’t stop there. She also took aim at Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, claiming he holds the reins when it comes to the rapper’s finances. “You don’t listen to nobody around you,” she wrote. “The only person that have the power is Kenneth Petty… but you know what happens wit that Amex when you sedated.”

Minaj fired back with venom, attacking Cardi’s looks and marriage.

“Your husband said he NEVER LIKED YOU,” Minaj wrote. “Your p#### on YUCK. HUBBY told PEE YEARS ago how UGLY you look always swollen & botched in the face from surgery.”

The latest round of insults comes after Cardi dropped her new album, Am I The Drama?, on September 19.

D4vd was the target of a swatting hoax at his family’s Hempstead home in Texas just ten days after police discovered the decomposed body of a 15-year-old girl in the trunk of his impounded Tesla in Los Angeles.

On September 18, officers armed with rifles arrived at the residence following a 911 call falsely claiming gunfire, screaming and a possible death at the property. The entire response was captured on police body cameras, showing officers approaching the home with weapons drawn.

The parents of the 20-year-old singer, born David Anthony Burke, answered the door visibly alarmed.

“Someone is messing with us,” his father repeated to officers, while his mother asked them to check the property in case someone was hiding nearby.

Police confirmed the call was a swatting prank, a dangerous tactic where false emergencies are reported to provoke an armed law enforcement response. No arrests were made and no official report was filed.

The hoax came shortly after the Los Angeles Police Department revealed that the body of Celeste Rivas Hernandez had been discovered in the trunk of D4vd‘s Tesla on September 8. The vehicle had been towed from a location where it had been parked for weeks.

“The vehicle had been parked at the location from which it was towed for several weeks, so Ms. Rivas Hernandez may have been deceased for several weeks before the discovery of her body,” the LAPD said in a statement.

Hernandez, who weighed 71 pounds and had wavy black hair, was wearing a tube top, black leggings, a yellow metal chain bracelet and stud earrings at the time of her death, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.

Investigators have not yet determined how she died. However, police acknowledged there may be “criminal culpability” related to the concealment of her remains.

“The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has not yet determined the cause or manner of Ms. Rivas Hernandez’s death,” LAPD said. “As such, it remains unclear whether there is any criminal culpability beyond the concealment of her body.”

Hernandez had been reported missing from her Lake Elsinore home earlier this year. Sources told TMZ that D4vd’s friends believed she was 19, though she was actually 15 when her body was found—just one day after her birthday.

D4vd, who rose to prominence on TikTok with tracks like “Romantic Homicide” and “Here With Me,” canceled his U.S. tour on September 19 and paused the release of his deluxe album “Withered.” He has not made any public appearances since vacating his Hollywood Hills residence, which was searched by detectives.

The swatting incident adds another layer of scrutiny to a case already drawing national attention. False emergency calls like these have become a growing concern, especially when tied to high-profile investigations.
A spokesperson for the artist has not responded to requests for comment.

The LAPD continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Hernandez’s death, which was confirmed on September 8.

Patel, 45, a former federal prosecutor and Trump administration official, currently serves as FBI Director under former President Donald Trump.

Shakur’s History and Criminal Conviction

Shakur, born Joanne Chesimard, was a member of the Black Liberation Army and the godmother of Tupac Shakur. She was convicted in 1973 of killing Foerster during a traffic stop on the New Jersey Turnpike. After escaping prison in 1979, she fled to Cuba, where Fidel Castro granted her asylum in 1984.

The FBI later placed Shakur on its “Most Wanted Terrorists” list, offering a $1 million reward for information leading to her capture. She remained in Cuba until her death in April 2024 at an undisclosed age.

Tributes From Political and Educational Groups

Despite her criminal record, several progressive organizations honored Shakur’s legacy after her passing. The Democratic Socialists of America posted, “Rest in Power, Assata Shakur. The American state brutally oppressed Assata and her Black Panther Party Comrades. The Cubans welcomed her and other Black Revolutionaries with asylum, and their solidarity and loyalty allowed Assata to live out her days in Havana.”

The Chicago Teachers Union also shared a tribute, writing, “Today we honor the life and legacy of a revolutionary fighter, a fierce writer, a revered elder of Black liberation, and a leader of freedom whose spirit continues to live in our struggle.”

Political Leaders Push Back

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, a Democrat, joined Patel in condemning the tributes. “She was convicted of the murder of New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster, who was executed in cold blood,” Murphy posted on X. “There are so many worthy heroes to celebrate. She is not one of them.”

Shakur’s affiliation with the Black Liberation Army—a militant offshoot of the Black Panther Party—connected her to a group involved in armed robberies, police shootings and bombings in the 1970s.

Shakur’s Defense of Her Actions

In her 1987 autobiography, Shakur claimed she was wrongfully targeted and said she was punished for political beliefs and actions she viewed as justified.

Shakur died in Havana in late April 2024, closing a decades-long chapter of one of the most polarizing figures in American political and criminal history.

Diddy will be allowed to wear slacks, a sweater and lace-free shoes when he appears for sentencing on October 3, 2025—a rare courtroom privilege.

Federal Judge Arun Subramanian approved the request for Diddy to wear non-prison clothing, including a button-down shirt and pants, during the high-profile hearing. Diddy was convicted in July on two federal counts of transporting individuals for prostitution under the Mann Act.

He was acquitted of more severe charges, including racketeering and sex trafficking. His legal team attempted to overturn the convictions, arguing that the law had been misapplied.

They claimed the Mann Act, which was initially enacted to target pimps and traffickers, does not apply to Diddy’s alleged conduct.

His attorneys maintained he was not a trafficker; he was an amateur pornographer. Judge Arun Subramanian disagreed on Tuesday (September 30).

“To any modern reader, the plain meaning of prostitution is sex for sale. Every modern dictionary the Court consulted says the same thing,” Judge Subramanian wrote in a blistering opinion. “What happened in this case was transportation for prostitution even under Combs’s understanding of the term: Combs transported the escorts (who were financially motivated) and intended for them to engage in prostitution.”

Prosecutors are seeking a sentence of 11 years and 3 months, citing what they describe as violent and coercive behavior. Prosecutors allege Diddy used threats and intimidation against women and showed no remorse.

They are also pushing for the maximum allowable fine, arguing that his wealth and influence should not shield him from full accountability. Prosecutors said the evidence showed “a pattern of abuse” and that Diddy “has not accepted responsibility for his actions.”

Meanwhile, Diddy’s defense team is asking for a drastically reduced sentence. They argue he has already served the equivalent of 14 months in pretrial detention since September 2024.

They are requesting home confinement instead of additional prison time, citing his lack of prior convictions and the nature of the charges for which he was acquitted.

Judge Subramanian has denied bail several times, citing public safety concerns and the seriousness of the charges.

Diddy took a major L in Manhattan federal court Tuesday after a judge shot down his attempt to get two prostitution-related convictions tossed—leaving him stuck with a sentencing date this Friday on serious Mann Act charges.

The 55-year-old Hip-Hop boss was convicted in July for flying male escorts across state lines to hook up with his exes.

That move violated the Mann Act, a century-old law meant to stop sex trafficking. Diddy’s legal squad tried to argue the whole thing was way overblown and basically about some wild “freak offs” between consenting adults.

“This is wildly out of proportion to the conduct at issue—threesomes where fully competent adult men and women voluntarily crossed state lines and had consensual sex with each other, and the defendant made no money from the conduct,” his lawyers wrote. “We are unaware of any other Mann Act prosecution based on such conduct.”

Judge Arun Subramanian wasn’t buying any of it. He clapped back with a no-nonsense ruling, saying the whole thing still fell under prostitution—even if Diddy wasn’t pocketing cash from it.

Diddy beat the bigger charges like sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy, which could’ve landed him a life sentence. Still, those two Mann Act hits could cost him up to 20 years behind bars.

His defense attorney Alexandra Shapiro tried to paint him as a voyeur who liked filming his wild sex life, saying it was all covered by the First Amendment. But prosecutors weren’t going for that either. They said he paid his exes back for setting up the sex sessions, making him legally responsible.

The court testimony got graphic fast. Cassie, Jane Doe and other women told the court Diddy bankrolled the hookups and was way more than just a spectator.

Judge Subramanian broke it down in brutal detail: “Evidence at trial showed that when Combs filmed, he didn’t typically give notice ahead of time or ask for consent, as a film producer would; and that he masturbated, suggesting that the purpose was his immediate sexual gratification.”

It didn’t stop there. The judge added, “The evidence showed that Combs ‘and the escort would both … have intercourse’ with Ventura at the same time. And after Ventura or Jane finished having sex with an escort, Combs would have sex with Ventura or Jane, often while the escort’s semen was still on their body. At other times, Ventura would ‘put [the men’s] semen on [Combs], usually on his chest, on his nipples.’”

Yeah. That’s in the official court opinion.

With the judge locking in the convictions, federal prosecutors are now pushing hard for 11 years and 3 months behind bars, plus the biggest fine allowed. They say Diddy used threats and fear tactics and hasn’t shown the slightest bit of remorse.

They also told the court he’s “not accepted responsibility for his actions” and has a “pattern of abuse.”

On the flip side, Diddy’s lawyers are asking for a much lighter sentence. They claim he’s already served the equivalent of 14 months in pretrial lockup and want him to do the rest on house arrest. They also brought up his clean criminal record and the fact that he beat the more serious charges.

Tyrese Gibson is pushing back against claims he’s avoiding law enforcement after his Cane Corsos allegedly killed a neighbor’s dog in Atlanta. The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office has issued an arrest warrant for the actor and singer, who now faces an animal cruelty charge tied to the September 18 incident.

Authorities say Gibson’s four large dogs were seen on surveillance video roaming the neighborhood and scratching at a neighbor’s door shortly before attacking and killing a five-year-old King Charles Cavalier Spaniel named Henry.

Repeated Complaints Before the Incident

Fulton County Police Animal Services reported they had received five complaints about Gibson’s dogs in the 10 days leading up to the fatal mauling. Officials say they had warned the entertainer multiple times about allowing his dogs to roam freely.

“It is the negligence on his part as the homeowner and animal owner, just letting them roam free,” said Captain Nicole Dwyer. “And now they have killed an innocent animal.”

Gibson initially agreed to surrender the dogs on September 22 but allegedly requested more time when officers arrived. When authorities returned with a search warrant, neither Gibson nor the animals were at the property.

Legal Team Acknowledges Responsibility

Gibson’s attorneys confirmed he wasn’t in Atlanta when the attack occurred but said he accepts full responsibility for the actions of his dogs.

“Mr. Tyrese Gibson wishes to extend his deepest condolences to the family who lost their beloved dog in this tragic incident,” the statement read. “His heart is truly broken, and he has been praying for the family constantly, hoping they may one day find it in their hearts to forgive him.”

The legal team added that Gibson took swift action once he learned of the incident.

“Mr. Gibson was out of town when the incident occurred, but he accepts full responsibility for his dogs,” the statement continued. “As soon as he learned what had happened, he immediately made the incredibly difficult decision to rehome his two adult dogs and their three puppies in safe and loving homes. The liability of keeping them was simply too great, and his heart could not bear the thought of anything like this ever happening again.”

The arrest warrant for Gibson remains active as of Monday.
