It isn’t easy to be a Duggar.
Every time that Josh tries to weasel out of his conviction and sentence, he only renews what Jill calls an “awkward” conversation.
Yes, she’s talking about it.
Specifically, Jill is calling Josh’s scandal and trial a “crazy season” of her family’s lives.

On the Wednesday, January 21 episode of The Jinger & Jeremy podcast, Jill Duggar and husband Derick Dillard addressed a rare topic.
“I would say I’m a lot stronger now as a person and an individual,” 34-year-old Jill assessed.
Even so, she admitted that she feels that she has not yet “arrived” fully in life.
However, Jill emphasized that she is “on a path toward growth” despite some major hurdles.
“When you’re young and carefree — not that we’re old — but when you’ve lived life and life throws hard things at you, you can live with hope for the future, but some apprehension,” Jill expressed.
Briefly, Jill then referred to the 2021 trial of her disgraced brother, Josh.
Josh was arrested, tried, convicted, and sentenced for receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
“We did the whole law school thing together as a family,” Jill characterized.
She referred to that time as “a crazy season for the entire Duggar family, as well.” (Evangelicals and especially fundamentalists sometimes use “season” to refer to a period in their lives)
Jill acknowledged: “That was a very interesting parallel to the career [Derick] ended up jumping into.”
Derick quit his job as an attorney, but he learned a lot at that trial
“On a professional note, it was very informative to go to Josh’s trial,” Derick observed.
Jill admitted that “it’s always awkward to talk about” Josh’s arrest, trial, and the scandal that (finally) ended their family’s reality TV careers.
But Jeremy was quick to chime in, noting that it’s a “real” part of their extended family’s story.
That is true.
Some families have skeletons in their closets that never see the light of day. Some of the evils of the Duggar family are more famous than the family itself.
Any family would struggle with having a relative who commits a crime as heinous as downloading photos and video of young girls being sexually abused.
It is nothing short of evil — and societal condemnation is widespread for this sort of crime.
However, there are added complexities for the Duggar family — particularly for Josh’s sisters. Particularly for his victims.
First, for years, Josh’s sisters were pressured — primarily by their parents — to give Josh forgiveness. In a cult where victim-blaming is baked into theology, men get nearly unlimited second-chances.
And then there were the seemingly sincere beliefs expressed by certain Duggars, from Josh’s wife to at least one of the brothers, that the trial was a conspiracy — political or (literally) demonic.
When you believe that a trial is actually spiritual warfare, you’re not seeing it like the rest of the world sees it
In some cases, they believed that outside forces were attacking their family, rather than simply bringing one predator to justice.
That doesn’t mean that every member of the family was on the same page.
Some knew first-hand just how evil and depraved Josh is — and how deep in denial their parents seemed to be.
So, yes, it would be “always awkward” for Jill to speak about her brother’s disgrace and the media circus that surrounded his trial.
On the bright side, Josh is rotting in prison where he belongs. That doesn’t fix all of the problems in the world — just one.

We have tragic news to report from the world of sports.
Former NFL defensive tackle Kevin Johnson has reportedly passed away.
He was just 55 years old.
News of Johnson’s death comes courtesy of a report from TMZ.
The outlet says that multiple members of Johnson’s family, including his son, have confirmed his passing on social media.
No cause of death has been given, but there’s reason to believe that Johnson’s passing was sudden.
Born in Southern California in 1970, Johnson began his college career at Los Angeles Harbor College before transferring to Texas Southern.
He drafted by New England Patriots took Johnson with the 86th selection in the 1993 NFL Draft, but the team released him before the season began.
Johnson battled back, playing for practice squads of multiple teams before making his professional debut with the Eagles in 1995.
In 11 games, the 305-pound lineman tallied six sacks, 19 tackles, and a fumble recovery for a touchdown.
Despite his impressive performance in his first season, Johnson’s NFL career would prove to be a short one.
He played his final game for the Oakland Raiders in 1997.
Johnson played 15 games for the Raiders but was released in March of 1998.
He went on to play several seasons in the Arena Football League, winning a league championship with the Orlando Predators in his first year in the league.
The following year, Johnson recorded the most impressive stats of his career, but the Predators went on to lose in the Arena Bowl.
Johnson signed with the Los Angeles Avengers the following year, but he was placed on injured reserve early in the season, and he retired from football shortly thereafter.
Across social media, numerous friends and fans have paid tribute to a player whose resilience and tenacity made him a fan favorite during his brief career.

The Blake Lively-Justin Baldoni legal war is making headlines again this week, thanks in large part to text messages that have become matters of public record after being entered into evidence.
Yesterday’s batch confirmed that Lively’s battle with Baldoni had taken a toll on her friendship with Taylor Swift.
Today, we have a conversation between actress Jameela Jamil and Baldoni’s publicist, Jennifer Abel.
And the exchange has Blake catching more strays than the local dog pound.
“I want to officially incorporate nightmare c–t and demon c–t into my vocabulary; UNBELIEVABLE; She’s doing this to herself,” Abel wrote at one point (via the Daily Mail).
“She’s a suicide bomber at this point,” Jamil agreed, adding:
“At least borderline abusive is out there so she can’t go in with predator.”
In a later conversation, Jameela and Jennifer roasted Blake for posting a link for domestic abuse survivors.
At the time, many interpreted the move as Blake’s way of deflecting criticism she’d received for allegedly brushing off the domestic violence themes in It Ends With Us, the film she made with Baldoni.
“Did you see Blake post that survivors link? Dead,” Jameela wrote.
“Oh yes, it’s so sick,” Jennifer replied.
“So cold; Just some stats and a link,” added Jamil.
“I’m thinking about having Justin share it,” Abel joked, along with a winking emoji.
“Ahahaha no keep him away from her; keep him silence; Keep him in Sweden,” Jameela replied.
“I hate her so much,” Jennifer added, prompting Jameela to reply:
“So much; I’ve never seen such a bizarre villain act before; She’s OVER over.”
Needless to say, Jameela is decidedly Team Justin. But when this thing eventually goes to court, Baldoni will be the defendant.
In December of 2024, Lively sued him for sexual harassment, retaliatory conduct, and intentional infliction of emotional stress.
Baldoni filed a countersuit, but that was thrown out of court in June of last year.
Justin also seems to be losing in the court of public opinion — but it sounds like he’ll always have a supporter in Jameela Jamil!

There are some very bitter feelings at play.
Earlier this month, Chris Noth put Sarah Jessica Parker on blast in an expletive-laden social media exchange.
Why? Because she (and other co-stars) cut ties with him after four women accused him of sexual assault.
Noth is speaking out now, complaining that his former “friends” never let him tell his side of the story.
He’s not a happy camper
People reports that, during an upcoming Really Famous With Kara Mayer Robinson interview, the disgraced actor revealed where things fell apart with Parker.
“We’re not friends, I think that’s pretty obvious,” he admitted during the interview.
Their previous friendship, Noth explained, ended when his first accusers spoke out.
He then referred to Parker’s joint statement with And Just Like That co-stars Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis, in which they showed solidarity with and support for the multiple women who had accused him of sexual assault.
“The statement that they put out — which was nothing more than brand management, really,” he said dismissively.
“I don’t know,” he continued, “it was sad, it was disappointing, it was surprising.”
He argued: “because you need to call me and hear my side of this.”
At this point, Noth appears to simply be saying what he’d like to say to the actors who no longer want anything to do.
“And you’ve known me for many years,” he complained, “and we’ve worked [together] for many years.”
Noth lamented: “And that didn’t happen.”
This started back in 2021
Just to recap, Noth’s Sex And The City character, Mr. Big, died on And Just Like That.
The shocking manner of his death lead to a (genuinely very smart, at the time) Peloton commercial in which he starred.
However, the increase in attention — much of it positive — prompted the first two accusers to step forward.
One woman accused Noth of sexually assaulting her in 2004. Another accused him of doing so in 2015.
The actor admitted only to having extramarital sexual encounters with them both, but claimed that it was consensual.
Days later, a third woman came forward to accuse Noth of sexual assault.
Then, a fourth — musician Lisa Gentile — accused him of sexually assaulting her in 2002.
Still, Noth denies all of the allegations against him.
Clearly, he resents that his former co-workers believed any or all of these four women over him.
And, also, he seems to resent that they did not personally meet with him so that he could tell his side of the story — presumably accusing all four women, who do not know each other, of fabricating “lies” about him — to their faces.
‘That was too bad’
Still, in his new interview, Noth acknowledged — bitterly — that he understands why Parker, Nixon, and Davis released their joint statement of support for his accusers.
“I get it, that’s more Hollywood than Hollywood,” he said dismissively.
“But before you make that statement,” Noth argued, “you know me, you’ve known me all these years.”
The actor demanded: “give me a call so I can give you the real scoop about this.”
Noth again lamented: “And that didn’t happen, and that was too bad.”

We unfortunately have to talk about “the dress.”
Not the dress that taught many on the internet about how brains process color. Not Jennifer Lopez’s dress that spawned Google Image Search.
In Brooklyn Peltz Beckham’s stunning revelations about his family estrangement, one minor detail was his mom allegedly ghosting on making his wife’s wedding dress.
Do Nicola’s own statements dispute what her husband is now saying? Let’s take a look.
What is the truth?
One of the (honestly lesser) details from Brooklyn’s explosive Instagram Story series on his family involved his wife, Nicola, and her wedding dress.
According to the 26-year-old chef, Victoria had been planning to make a wedding dress for the big day.
He said that she backed out “at the eleventh hour.”
Nicola ended up wearing a custom Valentino Haute Couture gown for her April 2022 ceremony.
This is not the sort of dress that you buy at the last minute a week before the wedding. This would have taken a long time to craft.
In fact, according to Vogue, Nicola spent at least a year in consultation with former Valentino creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli’s team.
Nicola’s stylist at the time even shared that the process was “the ultimate couture experience.”
Brooklyn’s then-fiancee traveled to Rome twice, and had two fittings in the United States.
“Seeing all the runway dresses in real life was so magic,” Nicola gushed to Vogue before her wedding.
She raved: “It looked like someone’s dream closet.”
Does this mean that the claims about Victoria backing out were a lie?
One would think that, if Nicola had an entire year (or most of it) to get a gorgeous custom gown, she would by definition have had plenty of notice on the dress.
However, some have suggested that Victoria’s would-be dress would have been one of the gowns, and the Valentino would have been another.
(We have to keep in mind that the Beckham family is wealthy, and Nicola’s family is even wealthier, making absurdities like “multiple wedding dresses” seem like normal choices)
Others have put forward another theory: that Victoria was going to make the dress, dropped out, and that the Valentino gown was the last-minute choice.
Speaking as someone who considers “the week before” to be last-minute for even a simple Thanksgiving dish, it’s not hard to see how a year or less of notice on a custom high-end wedding gown could feel like a four-alarm fire.
We should also acknowledge that the dress issue did not happen (if it happened) in a vacuum.
The night before the wedding, Brooklyn said that his parents emphasized that Nicola is “not blood” and “not family.”
(Not to blow this out of proportion, but that sounds like Targaryen clownery, even without the wedding dance neck-nuzzling that surely summoned the withered spirit of Sigmund Freud)
Victoria also stole Brooklyn and Nicola’s first dance in what sounds like a traumatic incident that, all by itself, could more than justify going no-contact. (Not that you need to justify it, but you know)
When it’s all part of a larger pattern of your immediate family treating your fiancee (and then wife) as a threat or even an enemy without cause or provocation, every detail stands out, and every decision feels personal.
What’s behind the attempts to unravel this dress timeline?
Is the coverage of Victoria possibly not being quite so last minute about the dress organic, or part of coordinated PR pushback by the Beckham family?
That is difficult to say. Plenty of people could (and are) looking into things on their own. (That includes us here at THG)
Muddying the waters about the dress makes sense, strategically speaking.
In contrast, Victoria stealing the first dance was so inappropriate and outrageous that there were reports about that already — reports that many had discounted because it sounded too awful, too absurd to be true.
When you’ve done something indefensible, it’s easier to try to poke holes in something else.

Insiders say Barron Trump generally prefers to keep a low profile (no easy feat when you’re 6’9″, and your dad is the most controversial person on the planet).
But he’s at the center of an unexpected story this week after the world learned of a heroic action he performed on behalf of a female friend.
The news came to light during the criminal trial of a London man named Matvei Rumiantsev.
It seems that Barron is friends with Rumiantsev’s former girlfriend.
And last year, Barron and the girlfriend — who has not been identified for legal reasons — were on a long-distance video call when Rumiantsev allegedly began to assault her.
That’s when Barron contacted London police, who rushed to his friend’s assistance.
The incident took place several months ago, but Barron’s role was just made public in a London courtroom on Wednesday.
“I’m calling from the US, I just got a call from a girl… she’s getting beat up,” Barron said, according to a transcript obtained by CNN.
“This was happening about eight minutes ago. I just figured out how to, how to call someone. It’s really an emergency.”
Speaking with a British newspaper, the unidentified alleged victim went so far as to claim that Barron saved her life.
“He helped save my life. That call was like a sign from God at that moment,” she said, according to a report in British newspaper Metro.
No one from the Trump family or administration has spoken publicly about this week’s revelation.
Barron last made headlines around this time last year, when he towered over just about everyone at Donald Trump’s inauguration.
The 19-year-old is currently a student at New York University.
Other students say he’s social but tries his best to avoid the spotlight.
Which really can’t be easy, given his circumstances.

On Wednesday, January 21, beloved television personality Vanna White took to Instagram to share the happy news.
“Surprise! We got married!” she announced.
“John and I have been in love for more than a decade,” Vanna wrote.
“And a little while back,” she revealed, “we wanted to make it official in a private ceremony.”
Vanna concluded: “We’re excited to share this new joyful chapter in our lives with all of you! Love, Vanna and John.”
As you can see, Vanna’s announcement came with multiple photos.
All four photos showcase the Wheel of Fortune icon alongside her longtime partner, John Donaldson.
Only the first showcases the model and businesswoman in a white gown — being held bridal style, no less.
The others appear to be from different points in their relationship, posing for cute couple photos.

How did they meet?
In 2012, Vanna and John met through mutual friends at a barbecue.
From there, they began dating.
According to Vanna, her first impression of the man who is now her husband is that she thought that he was “really cute.”
It wasn’t just a superficial attraction, however. They instantly developed a rapport.
Vanna would tell People that she and John “ended up talking for a long time that night.”
For more than 13 years, Vanna and John remained in a relationship without the need to formalize it with an institution like marriage.
In fact, in 2023, Vanna explained that she felt secure in her relationship.
After over a decade together (at that point), it felt as though they were already married.
However, they have clearly decided to formalize their commitment.
