For months, Rep. Tony Gonzales (Texas) denied having an affair with Regina Santos-Aviles, the 28-year-old congressional staffer who committed suicide by setting herself on fire last year.

Now, amid a House Ethics Committee investigation into the matter, Gonzales has finally come clean.

Speaking with conservative pundit Joe “Pags” Pagliarulo, Gonzales confessed to the affair, but promptly assured viewers that it’s okay, as God has forgiven him.

“I made a mistake, and I had a lapse in judgment, and there was a lack of faith, and I take full responsibility for those actions,” he told the radio host.

“Since then, I’ve reconciled with my wife, Angel. I’ve asked God to forgive me, which he has, and my faith is as strong as ever,” Gonzales continued, adding:

“I had absolutely nothing to do with her tragic passing. And in fact, I was shocked just as much as everyone else.”

Earlier this week, Gonzales faced off in a primary with challenger Brandon Herrera.

The two advanced to a special election as neither gained the required 50 percent of the vote to secure the nomination.

“2 weeks ago this man called me a liar because I accused him of committing the heinous acts that he just publicly admitted to doing. Is there anyone left who still trusts this now objectively proven liar?” Herrera tweeted in response to Gonzales’ long-delayed confession.

As CBS News reports, the House of Representatives’ code of conduct says lawmakers “may not engage in a sexual relationship with any employee of the House who works under the supervision of the Member.”

The code bans “unwelcome sexual advances or conduct” toward staff.

Gonzales may be on the hook for that as well, as text messages obtained by CBS show that he once asked Santos-Aviles to send him “a sexy pic” and she replied, “This is going too far boss.”

When Santos-Aviles replied, “You don’t really want a hot picture of me.”

In another text, Santos-Aviles, who was also married, wrote to a friend, “I had an affair with our boss and I’m fine.”

During the months when he was still aggressively denying the affair, Gonzales also repeatedly bashed Santos-Aviles’ widow.

Gonzales further alleged that “within hours” of Santos-Aviles’ death, her husband contacted his office to inquire about “her death benefits and how he could gain access to her retirement fund.”

“It was eerie. It was creepy,” Gonzales said.

He also alleged that the widower might have been gay or engaging in an affair himself.

Numerous members of Congress from both parties have called on Gonzales to step down.

We have shocking news out of Los Angeles today, as Britney Spears has been arrested on DUI charges.

The pop icon was handcuffed and taken into custody after being arrested in Ventura County, California Wednesday night.

She was reportedly booked at 3 am and released just after 6 am this morning.

According to TMZ, Britney was pulled over at around 9:30 pm on Wednesday night.

It’s unclear what may have prompted police to pull her over.

A source tells TMZ that Britney was taken to the hospital to have her blood drawn after her arrest. The source also claims that Spears’ BAC was .06, which is under the legal limit of .08, but that has yet to be confirmed.

Spears is scheduled for a court date on May 4, at which time she will presumably enter her plea.

Britney appears to have deleted her Instagram account in the wake of her arrest.

“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable. Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time,” Spears’ manager, Cade Hudson, tells TMZ.

“Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being.”

This is not the first time that Britney has been in trouble with the law, nor is it the first time that she has been suspected of driving under the influence.

In October of last year, Page Six revealed video of Spears leaving a restaurant in Thousand Oaks, California and entering her BMW as several people apparently tried to stop her.

In 2007, she faced misdemeanor charges in connection with an alleged hit-and-run in Los Angeles.

The charges were dropped after Britney paid off the owner of the other car, and her trial for driving without a license resulted in a mistrial due to a hung jury.

However, the incident was one of the factors that led to Spears’ conservatorship and the loss of custody of her two children.

Britney spent several years under the control of her father and other parties after a judge determined that she was unable to properly care for herself.

The conservatorship was finally lifted in 2021. The situation gained widespread media attention, with many fans and activists calling for Spears to be freed.

During a recent episode of the Only Child With Bob The Drag Queen podcast, Jodie Sweetin delved into a slew of topics.

Obviously, one of them was Full House.

Talking about the Olsen twins was delicate but fairly easy.

She praised them for their work ethic while also mourning their lost childhoods. She worked for 8 years as a kid, but they built a media empire as children.

Then came the more delicate topic: Candace Cameron Bure.

Famously, comedian Dave Chappelle has become a reactionary, particularly with regard to his outspoken transphobia.

For many, he has become a symbol of the fall from being a beloved celebrity name to just being another bigot.

Bob alludes to that when he comments: “Candace has gone a little Dave Chappelle-y, too.”

Making a vocalization that indicates that one is choosing one’s words carefully, Jodie

“Candace does her thing,” Jodie then states. “And I …”

While Bob laughs, Jodie elaborates.

‘If that ain’t you, that ain’t you’

“You know, we sit on very opposite sides of things,” Jodie acknowledged.

This refers to political matters and social issues.

“And I’m just kind of a loud, outspoken bitch about a lot of things,” Jodie characterized relatably.

“And,” she affirmed, “that’s not going to stop me.”

Jodie then sagely summarized: “And if that ain’t you, that ain’t you.”

Considering their differences, Jodie was being very tasteful there.

Jodie has used her platform for good, even getting thrown to the ground while protesting for human rights.

Meanwhile, Candace has also joined the fight for human rights … on the opposing side.

In addition to her sadly unsurprising takes on state-mandated birth, LGBTQ+ rights, and more, Candace also has a history of making odd, inflammatory statements.

For example, she flipped out about the Olympics opening ceremony a couple of years ago. She also once claimed that watching horror films could open “spiritual portals” in one’s home.

Candace has made countless choices to be who she is today

Candace’s older brother, Kirk Cameron, is also infamous. Both were converts to Christianity at young ages.

Finding new beliefs — be it a religion, a political alignment, or a lack of religion — as an adolescent can be a powerful rite of passage.

But some converts bring a sort of radical aggression that can drive off former friends and colleagues — which, in turn, may make them double and triple down, or drive them into further extremes.

Candace has chosen to be many things. Unfortunately, a good person does not seem to be one of them. There are millions of Christians who are decent, wonderful people, so that’s on Candace.

Jodie, meanwhile, has chosen to be a great person and to consistently use her platform for good.

Where did he get the money?

Josh Duggar claims to be broke in prison, receiving nothing from his infamous family.

He has been representing himself pro se as he attempts to weasel out of his sentence.

But now, Josh has hired an R. Kelly defense attorney to take up his cause.

New attorney, same creep

Beau Brindley was part of R. Kelly’s defense team.

While the disgraced rapper remains incarcerated, serving his combined 31-year sentence at FCI Butner, Josh is hoping for a different outcome.

On Tuesday, March 3, Brindley filed to notify the court of his appearance.

He has been retained by Josh for his upcoming hearing (which initially would have taken place on March 4 prior to its postponement).

Brindley also filed a Pro Hac Vice motion. This means that he is representing the fallen reality star just this once — despite being licensed in Illinois but not having taken the bar in Arkansas.

The delay in the hearing was by Brindley’s request.

He had asked the court for a continuance.

Brindley explained that he is seeking “additional time to review the case materials and familiarize himself with the issues.”

There are no indications that anyone raised any objections.

That makes sense. No matter when the hearing takes place, Josh remains behind bars where he belongs.

He wants out

Josh has been fighting tooth and nail to worm his way out of prison, one way or the other.

He’s come up with argument after argument that he should get to walk free.

Josh has even gone so far as to claim that his trial violated his legal rights — by allowing testimony about his prior bad acts.

The bad acts in question? Molesting five young girls, four of whom were his own sisters.

If he’d stolen a car, that would be totally irrelevant. But considering that he was on trial for receiving and possessing CSAM — photos and video of young girls being sexually abused — it doesn’t sound irrelevant.

But then, we’re not legal scholars. What do we know?

Josh doesn’t seem to be a legal scholar either.

One of his latest pieces of jailhouse legal drama has been allegedly mailing his documents to the wrong place.

Remember, Josh previously asked the taxpayers to pay for a new, free attorney for his endless appeals and legal challenges.

Josh did have attorneys for his initial appeals. Sadly, since he isn’t on death row, that’s where the right to a court-appointed attorney generally ends.

Who’s paying for this?

Whether Brindley is there to help Josh with his mail issues or more, there are questions of how he managed to pull this off.

Sometimes, attorneys will work pro bono — usually for high-profile cases but sometimes for charitable reasons.

Josh’s endless appeals (and current fight about mail addresses) probably aren’t high profile enough to warrant free services. And Josh is fundamentally undeserving of charity.

Did Jim Bob throw Josh a bone, and shower Brindley with some cash to help Josh sort things out?

Or did Anna use her apparent business success to aid her husband’s hopefully futile struggle?

The world can only speculate until we know more. No matter what, the answer cannot be good.

It’s been over a month since Nancy Guthrie went missing from her home in Tucson.

Her loved ones remain optimistic about the possibility that she’ll be found alive, but their hopes are likely diminishing by the day.

Now, a new theory has emerged about the identity and motive of the captors.

Five weeks after Nancy’s disappearance, police appear to be no closer to identifying a suspect.

One informant claims to have seen her in Mexico, and that’s not the only reason to believe that she may be a victim of cartel violence, one source claims.

“This is a likely – and sadly – worst case scenario,” a source identified as a former New York Police Department lawman turned criminal defense attorney tells Radar Online.

“Kidnappings are a business strategy for the cartels. The horrific treatment of their captives is well-documented and more often than not — deadly,” the expert added.

The source went on to state that if Nancy was kidnapped by the cartels, then it is paramount that the family meet their demands as quickly as possible.

“Speed is of the essence,” the attorney added.

“If the cartels have her, police need to pinpoint her location for rescue — or pay off their ransom demands as quickly as possible. If they don’t, this story won’t have a happy ending.”

The Guthries have received several ransom notes, but have yet to pay the $6 million in Bitcoin demanded by the people claiming to be Nancy’s kidnappers.

Part of the problem is that the Guthrie’s requests for additional information — including proof that Nancy is still alive — have fallen on deaf ears.

It remains unclear if the notes were legitimate or merely a hoax.

Another source suggested that the kidnapping may have been an act of retaliation based on US foreign policy.

“This could’ve been retaliation against the United States’ attacks on the cartel’s distribution boats in the Caribbean and affecting their fentanyl trade,” private investigator Jason Jensen told Radar.

Whatever the case, Nancy remains missing, and her loved ones are getting more desperate for answers with each passing day.

Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie has made several public pleas for information, but thus far, it seems that this case is no closer to being solved.
