Something is rotten in Flavortown.
Some, however, say that the warning signs were there all along.
On Saturday, UFC 327 in Miami had many infamous attendees. Guy Fieri, the self-styled Mayor of Flavortown, was also present.
Why did he fist-bump accused human trafficker and self-styled misogynist Andrew Tate?
Why is he smiling and fist-bumping Andrew Tate?
In an ideal world, no occupant of the Oval Office would attend a UFC event. One could argue that, in a truly ideal world, no such events would take place.
But Donald Trump attended, to notably subdued reactions from the audience. And he was not the only infamous figure in the audience.
Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate are under investigation in multiple countries for, among other things, human trafficking and rape.
(They were only allowed into the US when Trump retook power.)
Those who have been fans of Guy Fieri and his easy-going, charitable reputation are appalled at his reaction to seeing one of the planet’s most infamous dirtbags in person.

At the event on Saturday, April 11, Fieri appeared to offer a friendly greeting to Tate.
The two men exchanged a fist-bump.
To be clear, even independent of his alleged crimes, Tate is a blight upon humanity.
He has openly and accurately described himself as a “misogynist.” And his pernicious influence has helped to twist other men and even boys into scummy reflects of who and what he has chosen to be.
There are now plenty of calls to boycott Food Network, on which Fieri is heavily featured. And a lot of people simply feel heartbroken.
Why are people taking this news so hard?
For background, Guy Fieri was once a punchline. His deliberately over-the-top appearance is, well, a lot.
However, he has impressed people by boosting struggling restaurants and restaurant workers. He has also shown up to disaster zones to feed people.
All of this has given him a generally positive reputation, going back years. Some have even apologized for treating him like a joke.
Basically, people have viewed Fieri as a good person due to his treatment of the restaurant industry and its employees.
Seeing him fistbump a monster — let alone a monster accused of heinous crimes — is jarring.
However, some on social media have pointed out that this should not really be a surprise.
Fieri does not actually have a spotless record. But his good works — and his larger-than-life presentation — have distracted from the truth.
Salon did a great and thorough write-up on Fieri back in the summer of 2023, when Fieri was among those called out for “normalizing” disgraced then-ex-president Donald Trump.
Fieri has been accused of homophobia by someone who used to work with him. And he’s rubbed elbows with the likes of Trump, sat down for a Joe Rogan interview, and generally associated with the seedy underbelly of society before.
With all of that in mind, is seeing him fistbump Andrew Tate a surprise? No. It’s shocking because it’s awful, but it’s not a surprise. It’s consistent with who he has chosen to be.

This isn’t guilt-by-association
We’ve always been careful to avoid falling into guilt-by-association. But that doesn’t mean that Fieri is blameless.
Fieri’s friendly fist-bump with Tate doesn’t mean that he is a misogynist or a human trafficker. Similarly, him being so chummy with Trump doesn’t mean that he organized an attack against Congress or tanked the economy or committed heinous crimes with Epstein.
But that he chooses to associate with the worst that humanity has to offer is pretty damning.
It speaks to his judgment. It speaks to his character. And it speaks to his values.

Eric Swalwell announced plans to resign from Congress this week amid multiple allegations of sexual misconduct.
And now that the floodgates have been opened, we’re learning more about the personal life of a politician who was considered a rising star until just a few days ago.
As Swalwell continues to deny the allegations against him and prepares for the possibility of criminal charges, new video shared by Nik Richie shows scenes from a decadent vacation with “Swaly.”
It’s important to note that despite incendiary headlines from outlets like Page Six, Swalwell has not been accused of any inappropriate conduct with the “yacht girls” aboard the ship, which sailed the French Riviera in 2022.
Still, it’s not a great look for a guy whose career might already have come to an end thanks to allegations of widespread impropriety.
“The people on the boat were told to keep it hush-hush about Swalwell being on the trip,” one source familiar with the week-long trip told Page Six. “They were told everything stays on the boat.”
“It didn’t seem like a politician,” said a second source, adding, “More like president of a frat house.”
Well, politicians who like to party in their downtime are certainly nothing new.
And we’re sure more information will be revealed about Swalwell’s personal life in the weeks to come.
And while there was no alleged misconduct in the French Riviera, the claims against Swalwell are shocking,
“I am aware of efforts to bring an immediate expulsion vote against me and other members. Expelling anyone in Congress without due process, within days of an allegation being made, is wrong. But it’s also wrong for my constituents to have me distracted from my duties. Therefore, I plan to resign my seat in Congress,” Swalwell wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
While Swalwell apologized for “mistakes in judgment I’ve made in my past,” he has continued to maintain that the most serious allegations against him are false.
“I will fight the serious, false allegations made against me. However, I must take responsibility for the mistakes I did make,” he wrote.
Multiple women have come forward to accuse Swalwell of misconduct, including one staffer who alleges that the married congressman had sex with her when she was “too intoxicated to consent.”
Republican Congressman Tony Gonzalez is also planning to step down after a staffer with whom he had an affair died by suicide.
So the partisan balance in the House of Representatives will remain unchanged.
And Americans will continue to wonder how these toxic and deeply damaged men keep getting elected to public office.

Late last week, Lindsie Chrisley’s boyfriend was arrested after allegedly attacking and strangling her.
Authorities arrested David Landsman, charging him with aggravated assault and battery.
Now, there’s audio of the 911 — revealing the claims that he made to police before they ultimately arrested him.
Additionally, Lindsie’s filing for a protective order includes descriptions of previous violence against her and against her son.
She’s asking the court for a protective order against her ex
On Monday, April 13, TMZ reported that Lindsie has filed for an ex parte dating violence protective order.
Within the filing, she details what she recalls happening on the evening of April 9 and then on April 10, prior to David Landsman’s arrest.
She also writes that David has been violent with her — and with her son, Jackson — in the past.
“[David] has also been physically violent with [Lindsie’s] minor son in a public setting,” the filing reads. “This has caused [Lindsie] to be extremely concerned for her safety and the safety of her minor son.”
She also described an incident in which David allegedly pinned her to the ground, by her writs and ankles, to prevent her from leaving his home. Lindsie wrote that she was only able to escape by punching him and running for it.
Lindsie’s filing confirms that she and David are no longer in a relationship. The two began dating in 2024, and were still together until last week.
She shared that, on Thursday evening, she and David went out to dinner. He grew angry at a photo on Lindsie’s phone, she shared, believing that it was of another man. (It was actually a photo of David.)
However, Lindsie noted that David remained “on edge” even after realizing his mistake.
After dinner, at his place, she told him that she wanted to “step away” from their relationship, at least for a while. She also confronted him about alleged lies that he had told her.
This, she wrote, is when David became “agitated and angry.”
This is when this awful story (again) turns violent
When Lindsie tried to leave David’s home, she says that he attacked her, strangling her “multiple times.”
In her filing, she writes that he allegedly held her “up so that her feet were off the ground.”
When she was able, Lindsie reportedly screamed so that he would stop, but to not avail. She punched him, she writes, but this only made him let go temporarily, and he soon grabbed her throat again.
This time, she said, he did allow her to leave — by physically throwing her outside of his home with enough force that she struck her head on the concrete.
Lindsie confirms previous reports that it was David who called the police. (More on that in a moment.)
At the request of police, Lindsie returned to David’s home. They may have been planning to arrest her.
However, upon examination of her, they found injuries on her neck consistent with strangulation.
Additionally, the police report noted “lacerations on her head” from being thrown onto the concrete.
This is why authorities opted to arrest David, and not Lindsie.
He is charged with aggravated assault and battery.

Then there’s his version of what went down
The Ashley obtained the 911 call audio from when David contacted authorities.
According to David’s version of events, he accuses Lindsie of breaking into his home and “beating” him in the face.
It does not appear that investigators felt that the physical evidence at the scene and on the two exes corresponded with his account.
Every detail of this is horrifying — for Lindsie and for her son, Jackson.
We hope that all parties remain safe from harm.
