As you’ve likely heard by now, Congressman Eric Swalwell has agreed to resign from office after multiple women have accused him of sexual misconduct.
But while the disgraced representative from California might avoid an Ethics Committee investigation by stepping down, he still faces the threat of looming criminal charges.
And now, a software company owner named Lonna Drewes has come forward to claim that Swalwell drugged and raped her in a hotel room in 2018.

“In 2018, while I was living and working as a model in Beverly Hills, and I also owned a fashion software company, I had contact with Eric Swalwell on three separate occasions,” Drewes said in a press conference held today in Beverly Hills (via The New York Post).
“After meeting, he offered me connections to further my software company, and I also had an interest in local politics,” she continued, adding:
“He invited me to two public events. I knew he was married at the time and that his wife was pregnant. He was my friend. On the third occasion, I believe he drugged my drink. I only had one glass of wine.
“We were supposed to go to a political event, and he said he needed to get paperwork from his hotel room.
“When I arrived at his hotel room, I was already incapacitated, and I couldn’t move my arms over my body. He raped me, and he choked me. And while he was choking me, I lost consciousness. I thought I died.”

Drewes says she intends to report the crime to the Los Angeles Police Department today, and she will provide texts and photos that she says will corroborate her story.
“I did not consent to any sexual activity, although I did not undergo a rape kit at the time, I disclosed the assault to the people closest to me,” she explained.
“I also recorded these events in my handwritten calendar. The assault and its impact were later documented during my therapy sessions at a sexual assault center in Connecticut,” Drewes continued, adding:
“It had a profound impact on my mental health. I self-medicated in an unhealthy way. I did not want to live anymore.
“I cried all the time for years. At the time, I was in a dating relationship with a boyfriend I was fully committed to.
“I’ve never cheated in my life, and I would never have engaged in a consensual sexual encounter. That reality further underscores the non-consensual nature of what occurred.”
Drewes says she came into contact with Swalwell due to her own political aspirations:
“It was a politically unusual, intense time in Beverly Hills, and I was considering a run for city council, which placed me in proximity to political figures and events, and added to the pressure to remain composed and silent,” she explained, adding:
“Eric was aware I owned a software company, and he spoke repeatedly about his ability to make introductions, referencing his political representation and influence there.
“I was not interested in him romantically, but I was interested in the business relationship and professional connections he offered to provide.”
As with other accusers, Drewes says she remained quiet for years out of fear of consequences:
“My delay in taking action against Eric was driven by fear, not doubt, fear of his political power, his background as an attorney, and his family law enforcement ties,” she said.
Swalwell has not yet publicly responded to today’s new allegations. We will have further updates on this developing story as new information becomes available,

On Monday, an AI-generated photo of Donald Trump as Jesus Christ created a tremendous amount of controversy on social media.
Even some of Trump’s most outspoken critics were quick to call out what they saw as a post that was at best insensitive and at worst downright blasphemous.
One of those supporters was Riley Gaines, the competitive swimmer who transformed herself into a political commentator after losing to a trans woman in a race.

“Why? Seriously, I cannot understand why he’d post this. Is he looking for a response? Does he actually think this?” Gaines wrote on X (formerly Twitter) in response to the president’s tweet.
“Either way, two things are true. 1) a little humility would serve him well 2) God shall not be mocked.”
Of course, humility is not exactly Trump’s strong suit, and he responded to the criticism by expressing his disdain for Gaines:
“I didn’t listen to Riley Gaines. I’m not a big fan of Riley, actually,” Trump told CBS News this week.
Rather than keep the war of words going, Gaines furiously backpedaled and declared her undying love for Trump:
“I love the President, and I’m so grateful he’s in the Oval Office. Of course, I’ll continue to support him and the America First agenda,” she posted, adding:
“At the end of the day, I do nothing for the approval of man. Our purpose on this earth is to glorify Him in all we do. The truth social post missed the mark. It’s now deleted. Amazing!
We’re imperfect people. I know I am. I don’t get my feelings hurt easy and I know with the President it’s really not personal. I want to spend eternity in a real place called Heaven. I’d love for Trump to be there too.
“Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. I’ll keep doing my part by speaking truth & doing my best to lead others to Christ.”
For obvious reasons, Gaines was brutally roasted for her abrupt change of heart.
“Trump attacks Riley Gaines online and she immediately confesses her love for him. This is precisely how cults work,” wrote one user.
“This is the one thing about MAGA that still genuinely confuses me; how they all think that they will be the One Special Follower who he won’t throw under the bus,” another added.
“Trump publicly humiliated Riley and her response is to stoop lower, kiss his feet. That’s the price of being in MAGA. You are not allowed to keep your dignity,” a third chimed in.
“A mass-murdering serial rapist and pedophile disrespected your religion and called you a loser, and your response is to bow down and kiss his feet,” a fourth wrote, adding:
“I hope you know people see that you literally stand for nothing if it takes away from your grift. Sold your soul for this.”
Needless to say, Riley has not responded to any of this criticism.
At this point, we assume she’s meeting with her team and trying to figure out how she can continue to make money as a MAGA influencer now that the head of the movement has publicly declared that she sucks.

What’s going on with Alex Cooper and Alix Earle?
Well, a pretty intense feud. But people obviously want to know more.
So does Cooper, she says, daring the Dancing With The Stars alum to come forward and explain their disagreement.
Instead of backing down, Earle is threatening to do just that.

On Monday, April 13, Alex Cooper posted a vague callout post in the form of a TikTok video.
The Call Her Daddy host condemned Alix Earle for what she called “passive-aggressive re-posts and likes” across social media.
“Just say it yourself,” Cooper challenged. “Because I’m really tired of waking up and seeing you using this fake drama to distract from other s–t going on. Not interested.”
Cooper taunted: “I know what happened and so do you, so talk. Unless the fake narrative that you’re creating happens to be way more interesting than the truth.”
She claimed: “I have nothing to hide when it comes to you and me, so unless you actually have something to say, I’m out. This is over.”

According to Cooper, the drama is a “waste of time.”
She expressed that it felt “embarrassing to participate.” And yet, she powered on through to post the video.
Cooper added that, in her opinion, this clapback was “long overdue.”
She again taunted: “Alix Earle, hey girl. … I’ve got to call you out here. You’re gonna need to get specific and just say what you’ve got to say about me.”
Cooper added: “There’s no NDA. No one is stopping you.”

Alix Earle saw the video. That’s not speculation.
In fact, she left a comment.
“Okay on it!!” Earle wrote.
That exclamation point is both ominous exuberance and, some would say, a threat.
When you dare someone to do something and they reply with sarcastic cheer, it can mean one of two things.

It is possible that Earle is planning to do exactly as Cooper suggests.
Previously, the Dancing With The Stars alum has re-posted unkind social media videos, such as one depicting Cooper as an “ambulance-chaser” and the “Grim Reaper.”
In fact, the feud rumors have circulated since last year, when Cooper’s media company dropped Earle’s podcast.
However, it is possible that Earle could go another route.
Rather than her friendliness being sarcastic, it is possible that her agreement was. Like it or not, people are seldom obligated to explain why they dislike someone.

As numerous social media commenters have already pointed out, Cooper’s post seemed like a vague shot across Earle’s bow.
Which seems sort of hypocritical, since she didn’t decide to share any behind-the-scenes drama with Earle, either.
It is possible that Cooper is waiting to see what Earle will say before she speaks.
Alternatively, it is possible that Cooper straight-up does not know what the beef is, and is just as curious at the rest of us.
In the meantime, Earle doesn’t have to tell anyone why she dislikes the Call Her Daddy host so much. But, if she wants people to take her side, she might want to be more direct.

Former Beverly Hills 90210 Jennie Garth has a new memoir out, and in it, she shares some shocking details about her personal life.
In excerpts published before the book hit stores, Garth revealed that she got her stomach pumped after overdosing on pills and alcohol during her divorce from Peter Facinelli.
Now that the full book has been released, we know that Jennie had a similar breakdown during her temporary split from her current husband, Dave Abrams.

Garth recalls one painful incident in which her daughter Luca, now 28, caught her engaging in self-harm.
“I was in my room smashing framed pictures of me and Dave, overcome by the pain,” Garth writes.
“I was taking the broken glass from the picture frames and I was trying to cut myself with the jagged pieces. I was certainly not in my right mind,” she continues, adding:
“It was almost an unconscious act, a form of punishment.”
In the book, Garth explains that her third marriage began to fall apart after she suffered four miscarriages and underwent grueling IVF treatment.
“Dave said he just had to get out of there, and so he did,” she writes.
She credits Luca with rescuing her on the night in question.
“She took the glass from me, and cleaned up, while I buried myself in my bed, covering up with blankets of shame. The next morning, I woke up and my self-hatred was at an all-time high,” Garth writes, adding:
“I was being so selfish and self-indulgent, and now I was terrified that I had caused irreparable damage to my relationship with my daughter.
“I was hurting my daughter by letting her see me like that. This was one of those regrets in life that stay with you forever. Luca said, ‘You can’t go on like this Mom. We need you.’”
Garth reveals in her book that, depite their reconciliation, Dave kept the manila envelope containing their divorce papers in his truck “for quite a few years”.
“I think it represented something profoundly freeing to him: He has a choice. To be together or to split. He can sign those papers anytime he wants. We all have free will,” she writes.

Garth says she struggled with the pressures of fame and began battling depression while she was still in her teens.
“For a long time, I thought needing help — needing medication — made me less than. It felt shameful to be on that kind of medicine as a young woman who seemed to be living the dream,” she writes of being on antidepressants.
“I carried the weight of feeling weak and somehow damaged through years of trying different medications. I tried them all, chasing balance and battling the belief that I shouldn’t have to. What I see now is that the real strength was in refusing to give up on myself.”
Jennie’s memoir, I Choose Me, is available online and in bookstores now.
