We have tragic news to report out of France today.
Luis de la Rosa, the acclaimed animator, whose credits included Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, died Friday after he was struck by a train while attending the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
He was just 34 years old.
According to local newspaper Le Dauphiné Libéré (via TMZ), emergency crews responded after a man was hit by a locomotive near the train station in Annecy, a city located close to the French-Swiss border.
Despite their efforts, the victim could not be saved.
Authorities initially did not publicly identify the victim. However, the Annecy International Animation Film Festival later confirmed that the man killed was de la Rosa.
Early reports indicate that de la Rosa was killed while walking too close to the tracks, but that detail has yet to be confirmed by police.
De la Rosa had built an impressive resume over the past decade, beginning his career in animation in 2016 with work on Nickelodeon’s Pig Goat Banana Cricket.
He later contributed to several major productions, including My Little Pony: The Movie, Animaniacs, Space Jam: A New Legacy, and the Oscar-winning animated hit Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
He was reportedly attending the Annecy festival’s industry market to showcase his original project, Ash Raider World, while also meeting with fellow artists and potential collaborators.
Festival organizers have announced that Artistic Director Marcel Jean will honor de la Rosa during Saturday’s closing ceremony, recognizing both his contributions to animation and the devastating loss felt throughout the industry.
News of de la Rosa’s death has sent shockwaves through the animation community, with many remembering him not only for his talent but also for the promising career that was tragically cut short.

We have tragic news to report from the world of sports today:
TNA Wrestling and All Japan Pro Wrestling icon Joe Doering has passed away at the age of 44 after a lengthy battle with brain cancer.
News of his death comes courtesy of a statement from Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling:
“At 9:13 AM today, June 26, our brother Joe Doering passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family,” the organization wrote in a statement (via TMZ).
“Though his time on this earth lasted only 44 years, Joe packed a thousand years’ worth of living into every one of them.”
The statement concluded by honoring the wrestler’s legacy.
“Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Lindsay, his family, and leaves behind countless friends and devoted fans around the world who will forever remember his strength, courage, and spirit.”
Doering was first diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2016 and underwent surgery to remove the mass.
Despite the diagnosis, he continued wrestling at a high level, becoming one of the most respected big men in the business during his time with All Japan Pro Wrestling.
In 2022, however, the cancer returned, forcing Doering to step away from the ring for another surgery.
Late last year, his family revealed he had been diagnosed with a third brain tumor. Earlier this week, loved ones shared the heartbreaking news that he had entered hospice care as his condition worsened.
Standing 6-foot-8, Doering built an impressive career after making his professional debut in 2004.
He briefly competed in WWE’s developmental system under the ring name Drake Brewer before finding his greatest success in Japan, where he became a two-time Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion in All Japan Pro Wrestling.
American fans also remember his run in TNA Wrestling as a member of the Violent By Design faction alongside Eric Young, Deaner and Rhino. During his time with the promotion, Doering captured the Impact World Tag Team Championship and established himself as one of the company’s most intimidating competitors.
News of Doering’s death quickly prompted an outpouring of tributes from fans and members of the wrestling community, many of whom praised both his toughness inside the ring and the courage he displayed throughout his years-long fight against cancer.
His determination to continue competing while undergoing treatment inspired countless colleagues and fans alike.

We have tragic news to report from the world of social media today.
Popular parenting influencer Jamal Morton is mourning the unimaginable loss of his youngest child.
The social media personality, known online as J’Amore or Mr. Jay, revealed this week that his 2-year-old daughter, Sadé Rose Morton, died after drowning in the family’s backyard swimming pool on Father’s Day.
Morton shared the heartbreaking news in an emotional Instagram tribute, telling his millions of followers that he would be stepping away from social media as he grieves.
“I lost my daughter,” Morton wrote.
“She thought she was a big girl and could swim all by herself. She walked out of the house and got into the pool where she drowned.”
“Losing a child is a pain I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. I hate to make this post but y’all won’t be seeing me for a while. I have to take a break.”
He continued with a heartbreaking message to his daughter.
“I hope heaven is real because I can’t imagine you being all alone by yourself. So God, if you’re real, please watch over my baby. Rest in peace, my sweet angel. Daddy loves you forever, Rose.”
The influencer, who has amassed millions of followers across TikTok, Instagram and Facebook through comedy videos and parenting content, frequently featured Sadé Rose in his social media posts.
According to a fundraiser shared following the tragedy, Morton and his wife, Jessica, said they plan to move because the home has become too painful to remain in.
“We have to move away because we can’t live in that house anymore, and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to work anytime soon,” Morton wrote while asking supporters for help with funeral and relocation expenses.
Sadé Rose was the youngest of the couple’s nine children.
Photos shared by Morton in recent months documented her second birthday celebration as well as milestones such as taking her first steps.
Just hours before the drowning, Morton had posted a Father’s Day tribute featuring his children, including his youngest daughter.
“On behalf of Jamal Morton and his family, we would like to thank everyone who has reached out with prayers, love, and support during this incredibly difficult time,” reads a statement posted on Morton’s Instagram page on Friday.
“The Morton family is grieving a profound loss and respectfully asks for privacy and compassion as we navigate this moment together,” the statement continues.
“While Jamal has shared much of his life publicly as a creator and influencer, it is important to remember that behind the content is a real family experiencing real pain.
“At this time, there is a significant amount of speculation and misinformation circulating online. We kindly ask the public and media to refrain from sharing unverified information. Any false or defamatory reporting may be addressed through the appropriate channels.”

After several years and a whole lot of bad blood, Meghan Markle will return to the UK when Prince Harry returns to his home country next month.
Added to the significance of the occasion is the fact that the couple will be joined by their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
But if you were hoping for an adorable photo of Harry and Meghan’s kids enjoying the company of their royal cousins, we’re afraid you’re gonna be disappointed.
According to a new report from Page Six, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are unlikely to spend time with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis during the family’s upcoming trip, despite it being the children’s first visit to Britain since 2022.
While King Charles is reportedly eager to reconnect with his youngest son and finally spend time with Archie and Lilibet, the ongoing rift between Prince Harry and Prince William continues to cast a long shadow over the royal family.
Royal commentator Amanda Matta tells Page Six that although a reunion between the cousins would be “lovely,” there are simply too many obstacles standing in the way.
“There are all sorts of logistical reasons why it wouldn’t happen,” she explained, noting that William and Princess Kate maintain a busy schedule with both royal duties and family life.
Royal editor Emily Nash echoed those sentiments, saying that while it would be wonderful for the children to know one another, the fractured relationship between their parents remains the biggest hurdle.
“The cousins should absolutely know each other,” Nash said. “But before that can happen, Harry and William need to repair their own relationship.”
Despite the continued tension between the brothers, King Charles appears determined to move the reconciliation process forward.
Reports indicate the monarch has invited Harry, Meghan and their children to stay at a royal residence during the visit and has even offered to help coordinate security arrangements.
If the trip goes forward as planned, it will be the first time Archie and Lilibet have been in the UK in four years and could give Charles a rare opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren.
Of course, repairing the relationship between the Duke of Sussex and the Prince of Wales remains easier said than done.
The brothers’ estrangement has persisted for years following Harry and Meghan’s decision to step back from royal duties, their explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, and Harry’s revealing memoir, Spare.
While there have been signs that Harry and Charles are attempting to mend fences, royal observers say William has shown little interest in following suit.
So while Meghan’s return to the UK is certainly a momentous occasion, the strife that drove her from the country in the first place is clearly far from settled.

(He turned 24. Yes, we regret to inform you that he, like millions of other actual adults, was born in 2002.)
To mark the occasion, he released the “The Time of My Life” music video, which showcases him and Alix Earle as the stars of a dramatic love story.
The fantasy romance takes the two sword fighting, dragonslaying, and marrying before exchanging a kiss.
To be clear, this is a music video — this is an acting role for Alix. Though, in cases like Sam Asghari or Chrishell Stause, sometimes getting cast is just the first step towards a long-term relationship.
Whatever you may think of Boone — or Earle, for that matter — it’s an adventurous video that you don’t see so much anymore.
The fantasy vibes are great. Specifically, parts of it have a sword & sorcery energy, a fun sub genre that is increasingly scarce in a world where businessbrained prudes run most entertainment companies.
The two spent a week filming.

We know that people make soaking jokes, but Boone is actually no longer Mormon. That’s not to say that anything is happening between them, though he has denied that they are dating.

In addition to the romantic music video, the two shared a little behind-the-scenes dancing to Britney Spears’ “Slave 4 U.”
Truth be told, this has led some to accuse Boone of queerbaiting. After all, doing the choreography to Britney’s greatest hits was an unwitting right of passage for millions of gay Millennials — sometimes, before they knew that they were gay.
However, we have to emphasize that queerbaiting is a specific term with a specific meaning. A singer adopting specific looks or doing specific dances might prompt some to assume his sexuality, but that’s not what that means.
Queerbaiting very specifically refers to a piece of media winking and nudging at viewers that a couple will get together, while knowing full well that — due to censorship or the showrunner’s preference — they will not.
Others have accused Boone of being a closeted man who is straightbaiting with Earle.
Though Will & Grace was arguably a genuine case of straightbaiting (the show was pitched as a will-they-or-won’t-they, even though obviously they would not), that’s not really a thing either.
Boone has repeatedly avoided comparisons to music legends, insisting that he’s just being himself.
We should probably let him. He’s barely 24. Remember 2012? He was 10.
Sometimes we have to speak these dark truths in order to keep things in perspective.
