Nolan Wells’ ‘Mystery Woman’ Identified; Sister Points Finger at …

Reading Time: 2 minutes

More than two weeks after 18-year-old Nolan Wells was found dead near Mississippi’s Horn Island, one of the biggest questions surrounding his final hours has become even more complicated.

A woman identified as Katie McCormack has now been named as the person Wells was allegedly talking with shortly before he disappeared.

But according to Katie’s family, the story being told publicly about that encounter may not be accurate.

People listen as attorney Ben Crump holds a press conference with Elmore Wonsley and Christine Wells-Wonsley, the parents of Nolan Wells, at the annual NAACP National Convention to announce the results of an independent autopsy as they investigate the death of Wells on July 22, 2026 in Chicago, Illinois.

As we previously reported, Wells vanished during a Fourth of July outing on Horn Island after traveling there with friends by boat.

His mother reported him missing late that night, and search crews located his body in the water near the island on July 6. Authorities have not announced a cause or manner of death, and the investigation remains active.

From the beginning, friends said Wells chose to remain on the island while they left because he wanted to spend time with a girl he had met that day.

One of his friends recently reiterated that account, saying Wells declined repeated requests to get back on the boat.

But Katie’s sister, Gracie McCormack, is now disputing the suggestion that Wells intentionally stayed behind with her.

According to her account, Katie believed Wells was returning with his own group and did not understand that he had become separated from them.

She also emphasized that Katie has cooperated with investigators and has not been accused of wrongdoing.

“Katie had a conversation and assumed that Nolan was getting ready to get on the boat he came out on,” Gracie told The Daily Mail this week.

“Katie assumed the ‘friends’ telling him to get on the boat wouldn’t have left him.”

Those conflicting accounts have only deepened the concerns of Wells’ family.

Represented by attorney Ben Crump, the family has repeatedly questioned what happened during Nolan’s final hours.

Crump has pointed to the differing narratives as evidence that investigators still need answers about who last saw Wells and whether everyone involved has been completely truthful.

An independent autopsy commissioned by the family (and financed by former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick) was unable to determine a cause of death. According to reports, decomposition and the limitations created by the earlier state autopsy prevented definitive conclusions.

The report listed Wells’ cause and manner of death as undetermined and stated that foul play could not be ruled out.

Meanwhile, Mississippi authorities have said they have not found evidence that a crime occurred, though they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Wells’ death and have asked witnesses to provide information, photos, and videos from Horn Island.

For now, the question of what happened to Nolan Wells on July 4 remains unanswered.

We will have further updates on this developing story as new information becomes available.

Rams Target Super Bowl Champs During Uniform Reveal. Is Aaron Donald’s Return Next?

LOS ANGELES — The NFL’s newest Super Team and heavy favorites to win the Super Bowl want all the smoke. That’s according to the Los Angeles Rams’ newest addition, reigning league Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett, who made that clear at the team’s unveiling of new uniforms in front of a packed house of season ticket holders at the YouTube Theater on Thursday. When Garrett was asked which NFC West team he looked forward to playing this season, he pointed north on I-5 to the Pacific Northwest and the defending champion Seattle Seahawks. “I want the champs,” Garrett said, with a rowdy crowd roaring its approval. “They won it all, and I’ve got to see what that’s about. They feel like they’ve got the pieces to run it back, and I feel like we’ve got the pieces to take over.” With one of the most loaded rosters in recent memory, Rams MVP quarterback Matthew Stafford said he embraces the challenge, operating in the ultra-competitive environment of Los Angeles since relocating from St. Louis 10 years ago. The Rams took a similar approach in 2021, loading up on stars like Odell Beckham Jr., Von Miller, Jalen Ramsey and Eric Weddle, which led to the team’s first Super Bowl victory since moving back to Los Angeles five years ago. That Super Bowl was played at their home field, SoFi Stadium, which is where this season’s Super Bowl will be played, too. “I’ve been around long enough to know that you have to go out and earn it every day,” Stafford said. “And that’s really the fun part, is getting to earn that, right? Not sitting here and talking about it, seeing what we look like on paper. So, well OK, let’s go out there and pump the football up, and see if we can score some points and stop some people. That’s kind of where my head’s at.” Rams team president Kevin Demoff addressed the most pressing question this offseason of defensive game wrecker Aaron Donald potentially returning, saying the franchise will continue to take a patient approach in the possibility of the four-time Defensive Player of the Year playing football again after retiring two years ago. “We don’t have a ring, or a Lombardi Trophy or a banner if not for Aaron Donald,” Demoff said. “I think Sean [McVay] said it best yesterday. If Aaron wants to return, we will wait with open arms. It’s his decision, his choice. But there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t wake up refreshing social media, seeing if there’s a post or hoping that there’s a text that says, ‘You up?” Added Stafford: “Whatever’s right for him will be right for all of us.” While the team hasn’t set a timetable for Donald to decide whether to potentially unretire, a league source close to Donald told me he is leaning toward returning. Donald participated in a workout in full pads at the team’s facility two weeks ago. As for the matter at hand on Thursday night, the two alternate uniforms the Rams introduced — “Classic Sol” and “Fearsome White” — celebrate the franchise’s championship history and iconic legacy, according to the team. The “Classic Sol” uniform celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Rams’ 1951 championship team, while the “Fearsome White” honors the legendary Fearsome Foursome defensive line of Deacon Jones, Merlin Olsen, Lamar Lundy and Rosey Grier that dominated the NFL during the 1960s and early 1970s. Grier, the oldest living former Ram at 94 years old, attended the uniform unveiling. “These uniforms are a celebration and reminder of the moments and people that built the Rams into what and who we are today,” said Kathryn Kai-Iing Frederick, chief marketing officer for the Rams. “Every detail was intentionally designed to honor the grit and greatness of our history while delivering a modern look for today’s players and fans.” The Rams will wear the Classic Sol uniform — a combination of yellow jersey and white pants — for the first time in a Week 2 home contest against the New York Giants. The Rams will also wear them in a Week 13 home game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The debut of the Fearsome White combination will be on their Thanksgiving Eve home matchup against the Green Bay Packers. Hall of Fame running back and Rams legend Eric Dickerson was on hand for the unveiling. Dickerson told me he wasn’t a fan of the Classic Sol and still wants the franchise to return to the classic horns look on the team’s helmets. But he praised the Rams for paying respect to the team’s history with the return to the traditional all-white uniforms. “It kind of reminds me of the Fearsome Foursome,” Dickerson said. “I wish we would have worn those uniforms.”Latest Sports News from FOX Sports

Megan Moroney Says Being Single Has Given Her A ‘Clear Head’ During Her Biggest Tour Yet

Megan Moroney is enjoying one of the biggest moments of her career as she headlines her first arena tour. While the sold-out crowds have made the experience unforgettable, the singer admits there’s another reason this chapter has been especially rewarding.

In a new interview with Cosmopolitan, the country star revealed that the Cloud 9 Tour is one of the first times she’s hit the road while single, giving her the freedom to fully embrace the experience without any outside distractions.

“There have been a lot of big moments and fun times that have been ruined by a guy for me. It’s nice to just have a clear head. I’m learning what I like and what I don’t like and what my goals are,” she shared.

Moroney also shared that this chapter has brought a new level of focus and discipline to her life, giving her the chance to establish healthy routines. However, once the tour ends in the fall and she returns from her Europe dates, the “Medicine” singer admits she’s not opposed to being “on the prowl again.”

“Yeah, it’ll be fall. It’ll be cuffing season, but right now, it’s been so nice to have my friends and family out [with me] and that not be an aspect of my life that is any sort of problem for me.”

Looking back on a past tour, Moroney remembered quietly dealing with heartbreak, even crying before taking the stage because of a boy who stopped her from enjoying what was supposed to be an exciting moment in her life. That difficult chapter later inspired her song “Hell Of A Show.” Now, she says she’s in a much happier place, spending this tour surrounded by her close friends and of course, her new dog, Boots.

“Life is peaceful. I got a dog in February. That’s what I needed all along—no man, a dog,” she stated confidently.

The best part about being a songwriter is that when Moroney does experience difficult moments like that, she can turn them into a song and hopefully help someone else who might have gone through something similar.

In fact, she has built an entire catalog of relatable songs that her fans now scream back to her, making her concerts feel like one big therapy session. Knowing that she has helped so many fans gives the Georgia native the confidence to continue being vulnerable.

“When I get scared of putting out a song because it’s too personal, I think about how it might help somebody, because every time I’ve done it and I’ve taken the risk, people have come up to me and they’re like, ‘This song made me dump this guy’ and ‘This song is making me never want to go back to him.’ It’s just one of those things where you have to be like, ‘Fuck it. What’s the worst that could happen?’”

Fans got a heavy dose of both vulnerability and empowerment in her latest Cloud 9 album, which arrived in February.

The Cloud 9 Tour continues tonight with a stop in Iowa before heading to Minnesota on Saturday, June 25. She will close out her run of U.S. dates in mid-August and then head oversees for shows across Norway, Denmark, France, the UK and more.

Tony Romo Arrested For Operating Vehicle While Intoxicated: Report

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Uhhhh … I don’t know about this one, Jim!

Beloved CBS Sports analyst Tony Romo was arrested Thursday night in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI).

The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback was stopped while driving southbound on Interstate 43, the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office said on Friday (via TMZ).

Officials reported that Romo performed poorly on field sobriety tests before being taken into custody. He was later booked and released.

Wisconsin uses the term “operating while intoxicated” rather than DUI.

Romo, who is famously gifted at reading NFL defenses and predicting how opposing offenses will react, apparently did not see this one coming.

For a first offense, OWI is generally treated as a civil violation rather than a criminal offense, though penalties can still include fines and other sanctions if a driver is found responsible.

According to multiple reports, Romo had been in Wisconsin to compete in the Wisconsin State Amateur golf tournament, an event he has participated in over the years.

The traffic stop occurred not far from Burlington, Wisconsin, where the NFL great grew up.

CBS, where Romo has served as the network’s lead NFL game analyst since retiring from football, has not publicly commented on the arrest.

Romo spent his entire NFL career with the Cowboys after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent in 2003.

He became the Cowboys’ starting quarterback in 2006 and earned four Pro Bowl selections before retiring following the 2016 season.

Although Dak Prescott recently surpassed him as the franchise’s all-time passing yards leader, Romo still holds the Cowboys’ record for career touchdown passes with 248.

He transitioned directly into broadcasting in 2017, quickly becoming one of the NFL’s highest-profile television analysts.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional details about the traffic stop have not yet been released.

Authorities have not announced whether any additional citations or charges are expected beyond the alleged first-offense OWI.

We will have further updates on this developing story as new information becomes available.

Gretchen Whitmer endorses Haley Stevens for Michigan Senate seat

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer endorsed Rep. Haley Stevens in her state’s contentious Democratic Senate primary on Friday, wading into one of the highest-profile ideological battles within the Democratic Party.

“As governor, I have one strategy: Get things done. And that strategy informs everything that I do, and that’s why I’m endorsing Haley Stevens for the U.S. Senate,” Whitmer said in a video posted to Stevens’ account.

Stevens is hosting a meet-and-greet alongside the governor and Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.) in Detroit Friday afternoon.

Stevens and former public health official Abdul El-Sayed are the two major Democratic candidates competing in the Aug. 4 primary to replace retiring Sen. Gary Peters.

El-Sayed’s candidacy has galvanized progressives, while Stevens has backing from more mainstream Democrats and the tacit support of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.

“I am absolutely thrilled to have Gov @GretchenWhitmer’s endorsement for U.S. Senate,” Stevens said in a post on social media. “She is a champion for our state, she understands the stakes of this race and why it’s so important we elect the strongest Dem in this primary, and she gets stuff done for Michigan. Let’s go win!”

The race has gained national attention as Democrats aim to keep the seat blue and Republicans vie to flip the seat.

Whoever wins the Democratic nomination will face GOP candidate and former Rep. Mike Rogers, who has been endorsed by President Donald Trump, in November.

Stevens and El-Sayed represent the party’s ideological split, with Stevens representing the more moderate lane of the party and El-Sayed the progressive wing. That’s also evident in who endorsed them. Stevens received an additional endorsement from outgoing Sen. Gary Peters and El-Sayed has been endorsed by more progressive lawmakers such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.).

In Warren’s endorsement video, she praised El-Sayed’s vow to not take corporate money while taking a jab at Stevens, who has benefitted from a slew of outside donations — including nearly $30 million from the AIPAC-aligned United Democracy Project.
