The federal government has agreed to pay the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium $400 million to settle claims of inadequate cost coverage over several years.

The settlement, announced on Tuesday by the U.S. Justice Department, stems from a lawsuit filed by the nonprofit tribal health group in 2021 against the Department of Health and Human Services, which operates the Indian Health Service.

At issue in the case are “contract support costs,” the term for the expenses necessary for administration, facilities maintenance and other functions that support the healthcare services that tribal organizations provide through contracts with the federal government.

In a statement, the Justice Department acknowledged that the federal government owed ANTHC money to cover contract support costs.

“This settlement reflects our commitment to resolving litigation fairly and ensuring that federal resources are appropriately directed toward serving Native communities,” Associate Attorney General Stanley Woodward said in the statement. “We are pleased to have reached an authorized agreement that benefits American Indian and Alaska Native communities and remains consistent with the legal framework established by Congress.”

Natasha Singh, ANTHC’s president and chief executive officer, characterized the settlement as a fair resolution of a longstanding dispute over costs borne by the organization.

“ANTHC welcomes the authorization of this settlement, addressing contract support costs that have long been owed to Tribes that assumed responsibility for delivering healthcare on the federal government’s behalf. This settlement marks an important step toward ensuring that resources accurately reflect the true cost of operating a complex Tribal health system and advancing self-determination in healthcare,” Singh said in a statement.

For more than a decade, different tribal health organizations have claimed that the Indian Health Service was underpaying contract support costs. There is a history of litigation and Congressional action over the issue.

In 2024, the U.S. Supreme Court weighed in. Ruling in a case concerning tribes in Arizona and Wyoming, the court said the Indian Health Service is obligated to pay the full costs of contract support services.

Those costs are necessary for tribal health organizations to provide medical services, the 5-4 ruling said. If the costs are not fully covered by the IHS, “the tribe would have to divert some program income to pay such costs, or it would have to pay them out of its own pocket,” amounting to a penalty for pursuing self-determination under federal law.

The settlement is in line with that 2024 ruling, as well as with the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act, the federal law through which tribal organizations administer their own healthcare programs, the Justice Department said.

ANTHC is the nation’s largest tribal health organization. At its approximately 140-acre campus in east Anchorage, it operates the Alaska Native Medical Center, which is one of the state’s biggest hospitals, along with various in-patient services, research and epidemiology services and an environmental health program, among other functions. It provides services throughout the state.

The consortium, formed in 1997, has embarked on a facilities expansion program, enlarging the hospital’s emergency department and constructing a skilled nursing facility for patients needing extended care, along with other periodic upgrades.

Singh, in her statement, said the ANTHC board had “committed resources toward long-standing needs across our system of care” in anticipation of the settlement announced Tuesday. Those commitments include the investments in the ongoing construction projects, she said.

10 Premier League Transfers You May Have Missed During The World Cup

The transfer window usually dominates discussion during the summer, but that’s rarely the case in tournament years as the market is forced to take a back seat. Business never sleeps, however, and several deals have gone under the radar during the 2026 World Cup. After five-and-a-half weeks and some 104 matches, the big event is finally over, which means attention can now turn to the comings and goings at club level. In the Premier League, an extraordinary sum of money is being spent once again. We’ve seen Tottenham splurge on the likes of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, Elliot Anderson has swapped Nottingham Forest for Manchester City for a huge fee and Chelsea have made Morgan Rogers the most expensive British player of all time after But it’s not just the big hitters who have been splashing the cash this summer, with a number of relatively lower-profile moves going through while all eyes were on the tournament across the pond. Here, then, are 10 Premier League transfers you might have missed during the World Cup… Emersonn (Toulouse to Ipswich Town, £26.5m) Ipswich quietly broke their transfer record during the World Cup following their return to the Premier League after one season away, going big to sign young Brazilian striker Emersonn (yes, with two Ns) from Ligue 1 side Toulouse in a deal worth £26.5m ($35.5m). It certainly seems that there is some risk attached to the transfer, given the 22-year-old obviously isn’t proven in the English top-flight and his return of six goals and two assists in the league last season isn’t particularly promising. When you factor in the potential financial implications of relegation at the end of 2026-27, there is a lot of pressure for this move to work out. Joao Gomes (Wolves to Aston Villa, £38m) Not strictly a transfer that happened during the World Cup, with the switch announced the day after the final, but Aston Villa certainly put this deal in place while the tournament was still ongoing. The Midlands club moved quickly to sign a replacement forYouri Tielemanss, who only joinedManchester Unitedd a week ago, The £38m ($51m) fee looks a little steep, but Gomes is a Brazil international and Premier League-proven from his time at Molineux. A neat and tidy midfielder who loves to bite into tackles, he isn’t a like-for-like replacement for the more attack-minded Tielemans, but Unai Emery will hope that, at 25, the new man can develop his game further at Villa Park in a more free-flowing team. He follows Illan Meslier (Leeds United to Arsenal, free) Arsenal have a new back-up goalkeeper in their ranks after Whether he is second or third-choice behindDavid Rayaa remains to be seen, amid uncertainty surroundingKepa Arrizabalaga’ss future in north London. It has been reported that Arsenal will not stand in the 31-year-old ex-Chelsea ‘keeper’s way if an approach is made. Oscar Mingueza (Celta Vigo to Crystal Palace, free) While the rest of the footballing world was focused on events in North America, Crystal Palace might have pulled off one of the most shrewd moves of the transfer window by bringing in Oscar Mingueza, who was Honed in Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, Mingueza has been a standout performer in La Liga over the past 18 months, and was even linked with the likes of Arsenal and Juventus before landing in south London. Although he missed out on a place in Spain’s World Cup-winning squad, the 27-year-old is a full international who brings versatility and experience. This looks like a very smart piece of business. Marco Palestra to Chelsea (Atalanta to Chelsea, £47m) The first signing of the Xabi Alonso era at Chelsea is A marauding, versatile full-back who was named Serie A Defender of the Year off the back off an impressive season on loan at Cagliari, the 21-year-old arrived at Stamford Bridge for a cool £47m ($62m). Alonso is reported to have signed off on the transfer, with the young defender seemingly perfectly suited to the Spanish tactician’s preferred back-three or back-four systems, given he can operate on either flank as a wing-back or full-back. Alvaro Rodriguez (Elche to Bournemouth, £26m) Bournemouth have forged a reputation for unearthing young gems in the transfer market, and they will hope they have pulled off another shrewd move by bringing in Elche striker AlvarRodriguezez. The 22-year-old Uruguayan, who came through Real Madrid’s academy, impressed last season despite Elche flirting with relegation. Rodriguez provided 12 goal contributions in La Liga, and Bournemouth have taken a leap of faith by investing a significant £26m ($34m) fee in his services. The hope will be that he can translate that form to the Premier League as he continues to develop, and he may well be a replacement for 20-year-old sensation Eli Junior Kroupi, who is attracting attention from the so-called ‘big six’. Bazoumana Toure (Hoffenheim to Newcastle, £43m) In terms of statement, big-name signings, Newcastle’s transfer window once again hasn’t exactly gone to plan. The Magpies have been pipped to a number of key targets for the second successive summer after their nightmare in 2025, includinVictor Munozoz, who joineLiverpoolol, and the aforementioned Manzambi, who has signed for Aston Villa. The Tynesiders have, however, gone about adding a number of highly-rated youngsters to their squad, with the most significant outlay going on Toure was swiftly followed into St James’ Park by 18-year-old Ajax midfieldeSean Steurur, who cost £23m ($31m) himself. Callum Wilson (West Ham to Brentford, free) West Ham might have been relegated, but veteran striker Callum Wilson won’t be going down with them after jumping ship at the end of his one-year contract and swapping east London for west by joining Brentford on another short-term deal. He follows the arrival oJaidon Anthonyny in what looks like a bargain £20m ($27m) move from relegated Burnley. Wilson is likely to play second fiddle tIgor Thiagogo at the Gtech Stadium after the Brazilian’s prolific 2025-26 campaign, which earned him a World Cup call-up for Brazil, and the England international has set his sights on reaching 100 Premier League goals. He currently sits on 95. Harry Wilson (Fulham to Leeds United, free transfer) Could this prove to be one of the Premier League signings of the summer?! Top-flight clubs were queuing up to sign Harry Wilson following the expiry of his contract with Fulham and a sublime individual season that yielded 11 goals and a further eight assists in all competitions, with the former Liverpool man belatedly discovering the form of his life at the age of 29. Quite unexpectedly, it was Leeds who won the fierce battle for Wilson’s signature as a free agent. Announcing the Welshman’s arrival, the Yorkshire club said the attacker had chosen them over “several offers from elsewhere”, a list that may well include Aston Villa, who were strongly linked earlier this summer and have qualified for the Champions League once again. The Whites then stole a march on their rivals again to land Bosnian centre-back Tarik Muharemovic from Sassuolo after his impressive World Cup displays. Zadok Yohanna (AIK to Brighton, £26m) You’d be forgiven for not having heard of Zadok Yohanna (neither had we, to be honest!), but he might just be the latest in a series of brilliant pieces of business by the masterminds behind Brighton’s endlessly profitable model. The Nigerian winger didn’t come as cheap as some of the club’s biggest success stories, but that is probably because he has a very high ceiling. Yohanna was signed from Stockholm-based AIK earlier this summer for a cool £26m ($34m), but don’t be surprised if he’s sold for a significant profit in the next few years. The 19-year-old had already clocked up nine goal involvements in just 12 appearances in Sweden’s 2026 season (which runs from April to November) before linking up with the Seagulls, who had otherwise been focused on reinforcing their backline with LeedsPascal Struijkjk and Tottenham prospecLuka Vuskovicic.Latest Sports News from FOX Sports

William Shatner and Daughter Both Reveal Stage 4 Cancer Diagnoses

Reading Time: 2 minutes

At 95, William Shatner is nothing less than a living legend in the world of television.

And he earned even more public adulation on Wednesday, when he and daughter Melanie Shatner Gretsch both spoke candidly about their stage 4 cancer diagnoses.

The father-and-daughter duo appears on the cover of this week’s issue of People magazine.

Inside the mag, they opened up about learning in 2023 that they were both battling Stage 4 cancer.

Thankfully, both are now cancer-free. But as Melanie revealed in an in-depth interview, the fight was not without its frightening moments.

“I was having a moment and was hysterical,” Melanie recalls of the days when she was receiving chemotherapy for breast cancer. “I called you and said, ‘I think I’m dying.’

“He gave me, what I think of ever since I was a little girl, a ‘daddy bear hug,’” she adds. “He said, ‘This is going to be a blip in your life. You’re going to get through this, and it’ll be a memory.’”

Shortly thereafter, William was diagnosed with Stage 4 salivary cancer.

“I remember vividly thinking, ‘I don’t have the strength to take care of myself and lose my father at the same time,’” says Melanie.

“They said, ‘You got cancer. If you came in later, you would have been dead.’ See? That’s my life,” William recalls. “I think the universe is taking care of me.”

William adds that he and Melanie leaned on one another throughout their shared battle, and the rest of the Shatners cheered them on.

“We’re a very together family,” he said. “We’re bonded by all kinds of difficulties that we’ve overcome.”

William went on to say that the experience has left him with a greater appreciation for the small pleasures in life.

“I’m thinking of the miracle of a hummingbird, and of my dog taking a ball, and my children,” he said, adding:

“I’m aware of the magic of it all.”

Here’s hoping William and Melanie will be able to enjoy many more happy years together,

Gabby Barrett Shares Her Personal Connection To ‘In On It’ And Teases What’s Ahead [Exclusive]

For Gabby Barrett, the most meaningful songs are the ones that allow listeners to see themselves in the story. That’s exactly what drew her to “In On It,” a powerful ballad that shares a message about trusting the bigger picture even when life’s challenges are difficult to understand.

Over the years, the songstress has built close relationships with esteemed songwriters who understand her artistry and know when they’ve written something that would perfectly complement her catalog. The single, written by Jon Nite, Jimmy Robbins, and Jimi Bell, was sent to Barrett and she immediately fell in love with it.

“I loved everything about it. I loved the message. I loved the movement of the song. It felt really good. We’re actually performing it live already now at shows and it’s been received really well by folks. And so that’s all you can hope for really,” she told Country Now.

It was the compassion and raw honesty woven throughout the lyrics that immediately resonated with Barrett. She recalls feeling a personal connection to the song’s reminder that even the most uncertain seasons of life serve a greater purpose, even when that isn’t clear in the moment.

“I think the song is really about looking back on your life and realizing that even when you can’t understand something going on or couldn’t understand what was happening, that God already knew where the story was headed,” she shared. “And I feel like we’ve all had moments that didn’t make sense in real time, but later you realize they were leading you somewhere better. And so that’s really what the song is about, trusting that there can be purpose even before you can see it.”

The “I Hope” singer specifically remembers the uncertainty she felt early on in her career before and during her American Idol days. She was working so hard day in and day out to turn her dreams into a reality, not knowing if it would all be worth it in the end.

“It’s just like you don’t truly know what the outcome is going to be even when you’re in the midst of a hard season. But I’ve learned as I’ve gotten older that it’s really helpful having this mindset of believing that things are going to work out for the good in the end,” she pointed out.

Gabby Barrett’s clear and commanding vocals shine through behind each lyric, built around a steady production that gradually grows in intensity and allows her voice to take center stage before amplifying the powerful message. Throughout the track, she depicts everyday people facing challenges like a farmer fighting to save his land, a single mother working tirelessly to provide for her children, and a child facing a life-threatening illness.

By sharing these stories, Barrett captures the struggle of wanting answers and learning to trust the path set by the man above, but beneath it all is a reminder of hope.

“Keep betting on a dream even when you can’t win on it/ Keep holding on when you’re way out on a limb on it/ Might be your hands but he’s got his fingerprints on it/ God’s got a plan even if you ain’t in on it/ Take all the nights that you don’t think that you can take anymore/ Take all the weight that you can’t carry, let it fall to the floor/ Lift up your hands and put an amen on it/ God’s got a plan even if you ain’t in on it,” she sings on the chorus.

“In On It” serves as the Pennsylvania native’s first release of 2026 and sets the tone for the next chapter of music that she’s working on.

“It felt like the right song to introduce people to where I’m headed creatively,” she pointed out.

“I think they can expect a lot of honesty with my music. I want songs that people want to live with, not just hear once,” Barrett continued. “So songs that make you laugh and make you think and make you feel something and hopefully become part of people’s lives. In regard to the next record, I’m still letting it become what it’s supposed to be, which is honestly my favorite way to make a record. I don’t like forcing a scene too early. I just want to chase the very best songs and let the world naturally reveal itself as we continue to nail that down. So I would say that’s a good idea of creatively where I’m going.”

With her next collection of songs in the works, Barrett is also gearing up to join Parker McCollum’s 2026 tour, starting July 24 at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, OH.

“It’s always very exciting to be put in front of potentially some new fans and again, hope that they can connect to your music and find themselves in the midst of it. And you never know. I don’t know. Maybe I’ll pop up and do a song with him or something at some point and that would be really fun, but definitely excited.”

Joining her on the road will be her husband, Cade Foehner, who typically plays lead guitar for her band and their three children.

“I really enjoy having them there. It’s literally like take your kids to work. I can have it all just mixed into one, which is so nice…it is truly like living the dream.”

Carly Pearce Says She’s ‘Totally Okay’ Not Having Children While Opening Up About Her Future

Carly Pearce has never been one to shy away from being honest with her fans, and her latest TikTok post is no exception.

After a TikTok user commented on one of her videos asking, “Are you still deciding about having kids? Getting married again?” Pearce responded with a raw and heartfelt answer, sharing her true thoughts and feelings on both topics.

The Kentucky native, 36, held nothing back as she opened up about the pressure many women feel to become mothers, explaining that while she loves children, motherhood has never been a personal dream of hers.

“Okay. So here’s the deal with this. And I don’t know, maybe some of you out here are like me. I always feel bad saying that I actually don’t want children. I love children. I love my friend’s children. I’m a great aunt, but it was never my dream. My dream was to pursue country music and live on the road,” she shared. “And I know that some people do that and they’re great at it, but it has never been my dream. And I think that we should normalize people that truly know they don’t want to have kids. I don’t think it should be for everyone just because society tells us to. So I don’t want children and I’m totally okay with that.”

As for marriage, Pearce, who endured a very public divorce with fellow country artist Michael Ray and documented the emotional experience through her deeply personal album 29, shared that she is still open to tying the knot again.

Despite what some may expect after going through such a difficult chapter, Pearce made it clear that her past will not prevent her from pursuing marriage in the future.

“And I absolutely want to get married again and intend to get married again and will never let my past hinder me from doing that again. So what?I was divorced. It was my startup marriage and now I get to have the real one.”

Pearce has been a bit more private when it comes to her current relationship with boyfriend Jordan Karcher, but she has occasionally offered fans a glimpse into their romance through sweet snapshots of game nights and date nights. Recently, she revealed that Karcher relocated to Nashville and even referred to him as her “LOML” (love of my life).

As always, Pearce’s music will continue to reflect the current chapter of her life, and fans can expect to hear that honesty when she releases her new album, Honest Woman, on August 28 via BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville.

JD Vance Wanted to Name Newborn After Donald Trump in Desperate Tribute: Report

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Over the weekend, JD and Usha Vance welcomed their fourth child.

Though they named their newborn Alec Neel Vance, he very nearly had a different name.

According to a jaw-dropping report, JD had hoped to burden Baby #4 with a name honoring Donald Trump.

Baby Alec dodged that bullet, it seems, thanks to a veto.

‘The ultimate tribute’

According to a report from Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack, a DC insider dished that “JD floated the idea of naming the baby Donald.”

The source explained: “He thought it would be the ultimate tribute to President Trump.”

By all accounts, Trump dislikes Vance because the latter is fundamentally awkward and unlikable, with no rizz and no popular appeal. The guy is VP because business-brained tech weirdos like Peter Thiel find him useful.

Maybe such a desperate, sycophantic tribute could fix that?

“JD knows the President appreciates loyalty,” the insider continued, “and he believed it would be a meaningful gesture.”

Fortunately, Usha didn’t want to impart this malediction upon her newborn.

“She shut it down — politely, but firmly,” the source then described.

“Usha wanted their son’s name to reflect their family,” the insider continued, “not make a political statement.”

The source then commented: “She wasn’t about to turn her newborn into a headline before he could even walk.”

Naturally, a sitting VP welcoming a newborn is news — as it hasn’t happened in over 150 years. But it’s a blip on today’s hellish news cycle of wars, plagues, disasters, and corruption.

‘At home he knows exactly who gets the final vote’

According to a GOP insider, Usha won that debate. Obviously.

“JD knew when to surrender,” this insider characterized.

“He may be Vice President of the United States,” the source half-joked, “but at home he knows exactly who gets the final vote.”

Alec Neel was born on Sunday, July 19, at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

Vance announced the news via social media, to widespread disinterest.

Naming a child after Trump would be folly for multiple reasons.

Obviously, many people can agree that “Donald” is simply an ugly name. This is an apolitical statement.

The sound is sort of slapstick, if that makes sense? A little too silly, phonetically.

On the political side of things, Vance’s children will always have to live with the infamy of their father’s role in the Trump regime.

Having a good name (and Alec is a good name) won’t change that. But they can at least not be named after one of America’s worst enemies.

Daniel Siad: ‘Recruiter’ Who Introduced Jeffrey Epstein to Young Models Found …

Reading Time: 2 minutes

A modeling recruiter who allegedly helped introduce young women to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein has been found dead in France while under investigation for rape and human trafficking.

French authorities confirmed that the body of Daniel Siad, 69, was discovered Monday evening at his home in Colombes, a suburb northwest of Paris.

Police have opened an investigation into the cause of his death and ordered an autopsy, though officials have not yet released any findings.

Siad had come under renewed scrutiny earlier this year after the U.S. Department of Justice released thousands of pages of documents connected to Epstein’s criminal network (via The Guardian).

The files referenced Siad extensively and prompted multiple women in France to file criminal complaints accusing him of rape and human trafficking.

According to investigators, Siad worked as an international modeling scout and maintained a professional relationship with Epstein for years, introducing aspiring models during the disgraced financier’s trips to Paris and other parts of Europe.

In interviews before his death, he claimed he believed Epstein was conducting legitimate model castings and insisted he had no knowledge of the abuse that would later become synonymous with Epstein’s name.

“I trusted him and believed this guy was a professional person,” Siad previously told CNN (via The Guardian), adding that none of the women he introduced to Epstein ever reported mistreatment back to him.

However, documents released this year painted a more troubling picture, including emails between Siad, Epstein, and fellow model scout Jean-Luc Brunel discussing the recruitment of young women from across Europe.

One exchange reportedly referenced a 15-year-old girl, further fueling investigators’ concerns.

One of Siad’s accusers, former Swedish model Ebba Karlsson, alleged that he raped her after scouting her for modeling work decades ago.

She later filed criminal complaints in France, accusing him of rape and human trafficking. Siad denied those allegations through his attorney.

His death comes more than four years after another prominent Epstein associate, French modeling agent Jean-Luc Brunel, was found dead in a Paris prison while awaiting trial on charges including rape of minors and human trafficking. Authorities ruled Brunel’s death a suicide.

For now, French prosecutors say the circumstances surrounding Siad’s death remain under investigation. An autopsy is expected to help determine exactly how he died.

We will have further updates on this developing story as new information becomes available,
