Fanatics Flag Football Classic Moves to Los Angeles, Adds NFL Stars & USA Football

The Fanatics Flag Football Classic is going stateside, and it might have an Olympic-like feel. Tom Brady and a handful of current NFL stars of past and present will compete in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic, which will now be held at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. The Fanatics Flag Football Classic will still be held on Saturday, March 21, after switching events, but Team USA Football will now participate in the event, according to a release. With Team USA Football being added to the event, the Fanatics Flag Football Classic will now feature three 12-player teams. Brady and Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will captain Founders FFC, which will be coached by Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton. Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels and Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow will captain Wildcats FFC, which will be coached by San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan. Those two teams will draft their rosters from a pool of 24 players on Wednesday, March 18. NFL icon Rob Gronkowski, Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, Cleveland Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett, NFL star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and WWE star Logan Paul will be among the pool of players drafted from that group. New Tennessee Titans head coach Robert Saleh will serve as a defensive specialist for both teams. Drew Brees and Larry Fitzgerald, who were both just voted for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, will serve as commissioners for the event. The IFAF Flag Football World Champion U.S. Men’s National Team will make up the third roster in the event. That team will be captained by Aamir Brown and Darrell “Housh” Doucette and coached by Jorge Cascudo. Brady invited the U.S. Men’s National Team to participate in the event after it asked to be included in a social media post this past week. “I like the sound of that @usafootball – DM me and we’ll get it set up. Just know there’s no turning back,” Brady wrote in a social media post. The event will serve as a precursor to flag football making its Olympic debut in the 2028 Summer Olympics. In fact, the Fanatics Flag Football Classic will be held in the same stadium where flag football will be played at for the upcoming Summer Games. The Fanatics Flag Football Classic will also be played with the same rules as flag football will be played during the 2028 Summer Olympics. There’ll be two 15-minute halves with a running clock on a 50×25 yard field. Each team can only have five players on the field at a time. All three teams will participate in a round-robin tournament. After those three games are played, the top two teams will advance to the championship. The Fanatics Flag Football Classic will air live on FOX, FOX One and Tubi at 4 p.m. ET on March 21. The event will also be streamed internationally on the Fanatics YouTube channel. Actor and comedian Kevin Hart will serve as the host alongside actor and comedian Druski.Latest Sports News from FOX Sports

James Van Der Beek Honored By 9-Year-Old Daughter in Heartbreaking Video Tribute

Reading Time: 3 minutes

This is a beautiful, devastating tribute.

In February, James Van Der Beek passed away after his battle with colorectal cancer.

On what would have, should have been his birthday, his family honored his memory.

His young daughter’s video will break your heart. It certainly broke ours.

He did not live to see his 49th birthday

Saturday, March 8, would have been the late actor’s 49th birthday.

Instead of the usual celebrations, his family and loved ones celebrates his life in a different way.

9-year-old Emilia Van Der Beek posted an emotional (and emotionally devastating) video.

“As you all probably know, my dad has passed away,” she said in a heart-wrenching Instagram video.

“But,” she continued, “I’m just going to tell you little tips or anything that helps you getting through anybody you love passing.”

Emilia offered her first piece of advice, which is “to talk to them and let your emotions out.”

She suggested: “If you miss them, you can cry. You can talk to them. I talk to my dad every day.”

Emilia described: “I start with a sentence, and I say, ‘Hi, Dad. I miss you and I love you so much, and I’ll never stop loving you.’”

The 9-year-old elaborated: “And I just tell him about my day, how I’m feeling and I tell my family how I’m doing. And I know he can hear me, but I can’t hear him.”

Emilia expressed that it is key to “feel them in your heart” because dead loved ones are “part of your body.”

‘It’s not a good strategy for someone’s passing’

During the video, Emilia expressed the belief that her late father is “in a good place” because he is “not in pain anymore; he’s in heaven.”

She correctly affirmed that it is normal and okay to experience the full spectrum of emotions, including happiness and sadness and even anger.

Emilia sagely added that you can’t blame yourself, saying: “It’s not a good strategy for someone’s passing.”

She pointed out: “Everybody has different emotions in their body, and they express it in different ways. Many, many different ways.”

Continuing, she instructed: “And don’t let anybody tell you that. Be like, ‘No, you don’t know how I feel.”

Emilia then opined that everything “happens for a reason.” This can be a polarizing take after a tragedy.

“Something my dad told me,” she shared, “was if this doesn’t work out the way he wanted it to and the way we wanted it to for him living, I still have to believe in miracles.”

Emilia also admitted that she “stole” her father’s hat after he died.

“My dad’s hat smells like him, and I love it so much,” she confessed.

‘I know that he was a good man’

Emilia also expressed her gratitude towards the thousands of people who had donated to the GoFundMe for her family.

“I know that he was a good man,” she affirmed. “A lot of people loved him.”

“And,” she highlighted, “people prayed for him, and he was loved by … many, many people.”

Emilia is displaying a tremendous amount of emotional maturity — for an adult, let alone for a 9-year-old.

She has had a long time to contemplate her father’s illness and loss, and clearly, her parents walked her through this possibility long before the end.

Jennifer Runyon Cause of Death: ‘Ghostbusters,’ ‘Charles In …

Reading Time: 2 minutes

We have tragic news to report out of Hollywood today.

Jennifer Runyon — the actress best known for her work in Ghostbusters and Charles In Charge — has passed away.

She was just 65 years old.

News of Runyon’s passing comes courtesy of a Facebook post written by members of her family.

“This past Friday night our beloved Jennifer passed away, it was a long and arduous journey that ended with her surrounded by her family,” it read (via Page Six).

“She will always be remembered for her love of life and her devotion to her family and friends. I know from above she’s looking down on all of us with her beautiful smile. Rest in peace our Jenn.”

No cause of death was given, but a separate post written by Runyon’s friend and fellow actress Erin Murphy, indicated that she had been battling cancer.

“So sad to share that my friend Jennifer Runyon Corman has passed away after a brief battle with cancer,” Murphy wrote, adding:

“Some people you just know you’ll be friends with before you even meet. She was a special lady.”

Born in Chicago in 1960, Runyon scored her big break with the 1980 holiday slasher film To All a Good Night.

Though she racked up dozens of credits in the decades that followed, Jennifer is best remembered for two roles:

She reached a new level of fame with her performance as an assistant to Bill Murray in Ghostbusters, and her work as one of the female leads in the first season of Charles In Charge.

The show was retooled for its second season, with Runyon’s character being written off, along with several others.

Only Scott Baio and Willie Aames returned as regulars for Season 2, but Jennifer eventually came back for a guest role.

She put in a number of high-profile performances in the years that followed, including playing Cindy Brady in the TV movie A Very Brady Christmas.

In 2014, Runyon described herself as “semi-retired” from acting and was now working as a teacher and hosting a cooking podcast.

She is survived by her husband, Todd Corman, her son, Wyatt, and her daughter, Bayley.

Our thoughts go out to Jennifer’s loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
