Kate Gosselin has been going scorched earth, accusing her estranged son of heinous misdeeds.
Instead of pointing out clear holes in her claims, Collin Gosselin is thanking his fans and supporters for reading his bestselling memoir and standing by him.
He is also affirming that he will never allow his awful mother to silence him.
Fans, meanwhile, are pointing out that Kate’s claims don’t add up — and even sound like projection.
‘There is so much more love in this world than cruelty’
On Friday, October 30, Collin took to his Instagram page to express his gratitude to fans and supporters.
“To everyone who has shown me love, believed in me, and supported my journey, thank you,” he began.
“You remind me every day that there is so much more love in this world than cruelty,” Collin affirmed.
“To my mother, who continues to spread lies in an attempt to conceal her abuse and break my spirit, it’s not working,” he vowed.
Collin emphasized: “My determination to speak out for survivors will always be stronger than your attempts to silence me.”
‘I am beyond grateful’
“You will never stop my mission to protect and advocate for other victims of abuse,” Collin promised.
In addition to reiterating how he knows that there are millions of people like him who grew up with at least one evil parent, he swung back to the positive to again thank people for their support.
“Also, I am so deeply honored to announce that In the Shadow of Eight has once again earned the #1 spot on the New York Times Bestseller List for the second week in a row,” Collin gushed.
“Something I never could have imagined in my lifetime,” he wrote, “and something I could never have achieved without the incredible support of all of you.”
Collin concluded: “I am beyond grateful.”
Something about Kate’s claims isn’t adding up
If you’re wondering what specifically Collin might mean, Kate is doing more than claiming that she never abused Collin.
She’s claiming that Collin — a child — was dangerous. Her latest tale alleges that he caught and killed nine birds when he was 11 years old.
That sounds more like something that a cat whose human irresponsibly lets them outside might do. Can a human child catch and kill nine birds? Not everyone is convinced.
Kate actually specified a lot, claiming that he was with a babysitter while his siblings were on a weekend trip, that the songbirds had gotten stuck in the family’s chicken coop, and that Collin had killed them “for fun” and stacked them up on January 28, 2015.
As many commenters pointed out, January 28 was a Wednesday. There was also a state of emergency in Pennsylvania as Winter Storm Juno brought a blizzard to the state. Many commenters believe that this seems like a more likely demise for the birds — if there were any birds to begin with.
Ultimately, claims that he was a ‘bad’ child wouldn’t really change anything
(Kate claims to have a recording of Collin “confessing” which doesn’t really mean anything, as an 11-year-old raised by a monster might say all sorts of things.)
Accusations of animal cruelty, specifically, are odd coming from Kate, who was herself accused of cruelty to pets long ago.
There have been witnesses to Kate’s wrongdoings, from videos that much of the public seems to have conveniently forgotten of her hitting one of her children to a former nanny who has spoken out against Kate much more recently.
Allegations that Collin behaved in a genuinely troubling way do not have to be false for them to be a baseless deflection on Kate’s part as she continues to treat a child as her enemy.
A child with behavioral issues can often get better, especially if those issues are a reaction to a lifetime of abuse from a parent. An adult who chooses to be an abuser will never voluntarily change in any way that matters.
