Hayden Panettiere’s final years were marked by troubling incidents involving Brian Hickerson, according to a new report.
Panettiere died earlier this month at the age of 36, and now, a former neighbor is revealing disturbing details about what she witnessed while the actress was living with her on-again, off-again boyfriend.
Mia Terrazas, who still lives at the West Hollywood condominium where Panettiere once resided, tells Page Six she saw the actress being taken from the apartment on a gurney by firefighters on two separate occasions.
According to Terrazas, the incidents occurred on July 29, 2023, and January 16, 2024. She claims Panettiere appeared to have “bright red spots” and “bruises” on her body and looked as though she had been “battered.”
Terrazas’ daughter, Vileena Koneru, also witnessed the 2024 incident and reportedly tried to express her concerns to firefighters.
The neighbor claims Hickerson was present both times and remained “glued to” Panettiere as she was taken away.
During one of the incidents, Terrazas says she asked the actress if she was OK while she was lying on the gurney.
Panettiere allegedly responded, “Yes.”
Terrazas says she had already become concerned about what was happening inside Panettiere’s apartment, claiming she frequently heard “muffled arguments” between the actress and Hickerson.
“You can tell somebody’s arguing just by the tonality. … It was very hostile,” she recalled.
On another occasion, Terrazas claims she heard Panettiere screaming at Hickerson in an elevator.
“Just leave me alone! Just stop!” Panettiere allegedly yelled.
The neighbor also described Hickerson as someone who “always seemed to be high or disconnected,” although she emphasized that she never personally saw either Panettiere or Hickerson using drugs.
She said Hickerson had an “odd, flat effect” and that Panettiere sometimes appeared “out of it.”
Terrazas remembered Panettiere much more fondly, describing the actress as “lovely” and saying she was “such a bright light.”
According to one report, Hickerson was eventually banned from the property by the complex’s homeowners’ association.
The allegations come as questions surrounding Panettiere’s death continue to mount. The actress died at age 36 on August 16 at an Airbnb in South Carolina. Hickerson and his brother, Zach, were reportedly present around the time of her death.
Panettiere had previously spoken publicly about her tumultuous relationship with Hickerson and detailed allegations of abuse in her 2023 memoir.
Hickerson pleaded no contest in 2021 to two felony counts involving injury to a spouse or girlfriend in connection with incidents involving Panettiere.
He received a jail sentence, probation, domestic-violence classes and a five-year protective order.
Despite the order and the couple’s turbulent history, Panettiere and Hickerson repeatedly reconciled.
An autopsy reportedly found no signs of trauma following Panettiere’s death. Authorities are awaiting toxicology results as the investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death continues.

Sean Grayson has died in prison.
The former Illinois sheriff’s deputy was behind bars for the shocking murder of Sonya Massey.
He was only about half a year into his 20-year sentence.
What happened?
Sean Grayson died on Sunday, August 23
Daniel Fultz, attorney for Grayson, confirmed to TMZ that his client died around noon Central Time (1 PM on the East Coast) on Sunday, August 23.
Fultz did not choose to furnish additional details.
However, TMZ reports that inside sources explained that the believed cause of death was Grayson’s colon cancer.
In 2023, Grayson received his Stage 3 colon cancer diagnosis.
The disease would later metastasize to his liver, lungs, and rectum, reaching Stage 4. Stage 4 is often, though not always, seen as a terminal diagnosis.
Just last month, the Illinois Prisoner Review Board denied a request from Grayson for medical release.
All things considered, that was still the right call.
Grayson was only about six months into serving a 20 year sentence for second-degree murder.
Compassionate releases exist for a reason. But they cannot be applied to everyone.
Some acts are so heinous that the perpetrator must remain separate from society — even if they have only weeks left to live.

Sonya Massey should be alive today
Early on July 6, 2024, a 36-year-old woman named Sonya Massey called 911 to report seeing a prowler.
(Though Massey had experienced mental health struggles, it has not been proven whether or not she saw someone. Unfortunately, that is now very moot.)
Grayson and his partner at the time, Dawson Farley, arrived at her home.
Bodycam footage showed Grayson directing Massey to remove a pot of boiling water from her stovetop. Massey complied.
She also told him at one point: “I rebuke you in the name of Jesus.” We are not psychiatrists, but that comment can at times be a religious statement and at other times can be an utterance as a sign of mental distress.
Grayson would later claim that the took the “rebuke” bit as a threat. He also claimed that he feared that Massey might throw the boiling water on him.
(Farley would testify that he did not consider Massey to be a threat.)
Though Massey dropped to her knees and apologized and seemingly ducked for cover, it was not enough to save her life. Massey shot her to death in her own kitchen after she had called for help.
Following her murder, Illinois passed the Sonya Massey Act, requiring police departments to carefully review prior work history. Massey had been in trouble numerous times, including when serving in the military, prior to this tragedy.
For multiple reasons, Grayson is no longer a public danger. One can hope that half-measures like the Sonya Massey Act will prevent at least some tragedies like this from occurring.
