Reba McEntire’s family is one step closer to welcoming its newest member. The country icon’s son, Shelby Blackstock, and his wife, Marissa, recently celebrated their baby boy with a music-themed baby shower, where they also revealed the name they’ve chosen for their first child.
The couple shared photos from the celebration on social media, announcing that their son, set to arrive into the world in October, will be named Archer Blackstock. They opted for a clever shower theme that leaned into the Blackstock family’s musical roots by transforming the event into Archer’s “Welcome to the World Tour,” complete with a slew of concert-inspired details.

First, was a marquee-style display reading, “Vinyl Vault Presents: Archer Blackstock,” announcing his expected fall arrival and promoting his fictional debut tour dubbed, the “Welcome to the World Tour.” The playful sign even featured a fake Rolling Stone review that claimed his upcoming arrival is poised to be “The Hottest New Release of the Year.”
Guests were also invited to sign a custom record plaque with congratulatory messages for the parents-to-be that said, “Archie Blackstock: A Star is Born.” Of course, McEntire, who will soon enter her grandma era made sure to leave her own heartfelt note that reads, “We’re gonna have so much fun!” and signed it, “Grandma Reba.”
Nearby, a glowing neon sign displaying Archer’s name sat above a table filled with guests, the plaque and an option for those joining the celebrations to contribute song suggestions for a special “Build a Baby Playlist.”

This is an especially exciting chapter for Shelby and Marissa to celebrate together, after suffering a pregnancy loss last December. This was understandably disheartening news for the couple as they trying to have a baby for three years, using a combination of natural methods, medicated cycles and in vitro fertilization (IVF). Now, they are just a few months away from finally welcoming their first child.
The lovebirds first met on the dating app Tinder in 2014 and began dating two years later. Their love only grew stronger and in 2022, they tied the knot in a ceremony held at Epcot and the Magic Kingdom, the same theme part where they would go on to announce their pregnancy in April of 2026.
They wrote, “Oh, BOY! We’re beyond excited to FINALLY announce our little man is coming in October. See ya real soon, pal! Mommy + Daddy love you! 🤟🏼”
Shelby is Reba McEntire’s only biological child and this will be her first biological grandchild. However, she also had a close relationship with her late stepson Brandon Blackstock, son of her ex-husband Narvel Blackstock.
Brandon passed away last August at age 48 following his battle with skin cancer. He is survived by his four children, including two kids that he shared with ex-wife Kelly Clarkson.
Following this devastation, Baby Archer will mark a joyful new chapter for the family.

The Alaska Democratic Party is suing the Alaska Division of Elections, alleging that officials improperly approved a Republican candidate who failed to disclose his personal finances, as required by state law.
The candidate in question is Jose Anthony Tagle, the lone challenger to Democratic incumbent Rep. Ted Eischeid in Anchorage’s House District 22.
The Alaska Democratic Party challenged Tagle’s eligibility in June after he filed a completely blank Public Officer Disclosure Form alongside his candidacy application. That form is supposed to list all income — including Permanent Fund dividends — that a candidate and their immediate family received during the previous year.
Tagle’s listed no income, including dividends. On social media, Tagle describes himself as a small-business owner, and public records list him as director and president of “Stardust Limited Liability Corp.”
Tagle did not return text messages sent to the phone number listed on his candidacy application. The voicemail box at his number is full and not accepting new messages.
The Alaska Public Offices Commission has begun censoring phone numbers on financial disclosures, making it impossible to know whether he uses a different number.
His residence address is listed as the Anchors Way Inn in Anchorage, a business he owns. Online reviews of the inn label the location a private residence and a “sham.”
According to the Alaska Democratic Party’s legal complaint, filed last week, the party challenged Tagle’s candidacy because state law requires a candidate “file a statement giving income sources and business interests, under oath and on penalty of perjury.”
Division of Elections director Carole Beecher dismissed the challenge, saying the blank form was the responsibility of the Alaska Public Offices Commission — which controls the form — not the Division of Elections.
In prior lawsuits, the division has examined public records, including hunting and fishing license applications, to determine eligibility.
“Appellants challenge this determination as arbitrary, unreasonable, inconsistent with the Division’s statutory authority, and in conflict with the Division’s own prior positions regarding its authority to determine candidate eligibility from public records,” the party’s complaint states.
The party has asked for an expedited hearing on the case, and Judge Josie Garton has tentatively scheduled oral arguments for Aug. 7 in Anchorage Superior Court.
The Democratic Party has argued that if the division prevails in the lawsuit, that decision would allow all candidates to file blank disclosure forms, effectively bypassing state law.
If the Democratic Party prevails in the case, it would be too late for Tagle to be removed from the August primary election ballot, but he could be disqualified from the November general election. If that were to take place, Eischeid may run unopposed, except for any write-in challengers.

Darline Graham Nordone, Lindsey Graham’s younger sister and close confidant, will serve the remainder of the late senator’s term in Washington.
“It’s my honor to ask his little sister Darline Graham to finish his work for him now,” South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster said Monday, formally appointing Nordone after recounting stories of Graham’s legacy.
President Donald Trump and Senate Majority Leader John Thune both publicly expressed support for McMaster choosing Nordone as a tribute to Graham.
Her appointment as an interim caretaker triggers a wide-open race ahead of the Aug. 11 primary. Several Republicans are already weighing bids to take over Graham’s place as the GOP Senate nominee.
“It is such a privilege to get to finish some of his important work, and I promise to work hard over the next several months to support the president and carry forward the efforts of my brother on behalf of the citizens of South Carolina and the United States,” Nordone said at the press conference alongside McMaster. She added that the decision is one that “Lindsey would have wanted.”
Graham helped raise Nordone after their parents passed away early in her childhood. The siblings had shared a close relationship since, and she appeared alongside the late senator on the campaign trail on several occasions — including at his presidential campaign launch in the summer of 2015.
Nordone’s appointment came together quickly over the last 36 hours, according to McMaster’s top political adviser and former chief of staff Trey Walker.
McMaster was notified of Graham’s death around 11 p.m. Saturday, hours before the late senator’s office publicly shared the news, Walker told POLITICO.
The first thing the governor did on Sunday morning was call Nordone to express his condolences. Then, as the day progressed and he fielded calls about next steps, he rang her again around 10 a.m. with a question: Would she like to serve out the remainder of her brother’s term in Washington?
Nordone and McMaster know each other well. Nordone helms the state’s Commission for the Blind, is “very familiar at the state house” and interfaces “a lot” with the governor’s office, Walker said.
With Nordone’s buy-in, the next call the governor placed was to the White House.
“How fitting a tribute to Lindsey would it be … to appoint Darline, his sister, to finish Lindsey’s work this time and to put that beautiful bookend on the story of his service?” Walker said, describing how McMaster laid out his thinking to Trump. The president, whose blessing is key in deeply conservative South Carolina, was “very receptive” to the idea, Walker noted.
Trump then made that approval clear on Truth Social on Monday morning when he said her appointment would be a “fabulous tribute” to the late senator.
The White House and McMaster’s office did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
South Carolina Republicans expect Nordone to only serve as a caretaker to finish Graham’s term, though Nordone hasn’t signaled herself whether she will or will not mount her own bid to serve a full six-year term in Washington.
The jockeying for the Aug. 11 primary has already begun in the deep-red state where an open Senate seat is a rare opportunity for up-and-coming politicians to come across.
Republicans both in South Carolina and Washington point to Rep. Russell Fry (R-S.C.) as a possible top contender, as someone who has deep ties to Columbia and to Trump’s White House. Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette, who unsuccessfully ran for governor earlier this year, is also seen as a top contender because of her high name recognition and her ability to reengage her statewide campaign infrastructure.
Others, like Mace and Norman have more clearly signaled their intent to mount their own bids for Graham’s seat, but no candidates have officially announced a formalized run.
Trump, who could have an outsized role in boosting Graham’s elected successor, has yet to make any public statements about his preferences for a candidate to fill the full term.
