And… according to at least one Democratic strategist, that approach may not be half bad.
Matt Bennett, of the center-left think tank Third Way, told POLITICO more prospective 2028 candidates should embrace the World Cup.
“The World Cup is fun and inspiring, with heroics, heartwarming storylines, and gritty underdogs. The US team is kicking ass. And Trump is ignoring it,” Bennett said. “Democrats should own it all – go to games, watch them in bars with fans, brag about our team, hang out with the Scots. Show the country that we’re normal, patriotic, and fun-loving.”
Florida Georgia Line sent Nissan Stadium into a frenzy during CMA Fest when they reunited for a two-song performance during the annual festival.
The duo’s Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard were introduced by legendary boxing announcer Michael Buffer, who hyped up the crowd for the surprise moment, shouting, “Let’s get ready to rumble!”
BK and Tyler made their way to the stage from opposite sides of the stadium, ultimately meeting in the middle as fans erupted in cheers throughout the venue.

The packed stadium joined together for a massive sing-along of the duo’s 2013 hit “Round Here,” followed by their classic “Cruise,” sending the audience into a full-blown frenzy.
Their performances were filmed and aired during CMA Fest presented by SoFi on ABC Thursday night.
Ahead of the reunion, the duo had been teasing something big, updating their social media accounts with a new profile photo and unveiling a Downtown Nashville billboard that read “FGL LFG” alongside a phone number. Fans who texted the number received a message reading: “Turns out, some things are just better together. Much more to come. FGL LFG.”
This marked Florida Georgia Line’s first major performance together since 2022. Earlier this year, BK and Tyler also reunited onstage to perform a song they co-wrote for Jason Aldean during his surprise No. 1 party in Nashville.
In recent months, the pair have continued fueling reunion speculation with shared social posts. They were also photographed together the CMA Awards last fall.
Following CMA Fest, it was also revealed that Florida Georgia Line signed with The Core Entertainment for management and CAA (Creative Artists Agency) for booking, sparking even more speculation that a larger return could be on the horizon.
Florida Georgia Line was one of several acts who performed during CMA Fest, which took over downtown Nashville in early June and brought an estimated 100,000 fans per day to Music City.

Ella Langley showcased her star power during the CMA Fest presented by SoFi broadcast, delivering standout performances of “Be Her” and “Choosin’ Texas” during the three-hour televised special.
Stepping onto the stage in a white mini dress detailed with a delicate floral pattern, Langley leaned into her signature soft yet modern country aesthetic. The long, flowing sleeves added movement to her performance, while matching white boots completed the look.

During her set, the Alabama native put two of the biggest songs of her career on display. Up first was “Be Her,” which has officially been declared Langley’s fifth chart-topping single of her career.
The songstress made her way from one side of the stage to the other while delivering the infectious tune that finds her looking at someone else’s life and thinking, why can’t that be me? She lays out a candid message, touching on the desire to become the best and most picture-perfect version of herself. What she’s describing is a woman who seems to have it all figured out.
Next up was yet another monumental hit, “Choosin’ Texas,” co-written and produced by Langley with Miranda Lambert, alongside producer Ben West and co-writers Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor. From the second the opening note filled the speakers, the packed venue of country music fans roared with cheers, igniting a massive sing-along.

SoFi has been named the first-ever broadcast presenting sponsor and Official Bank of CMA Fest, joining the festival in a partnership centered on helping people pursue financial independence through music. Bosnia and Herzegovina finished its three Group A matches with four points, including a win over Qatar in Seattle on the final match day. It will now head south for its next match, which will be on Wednesday, July 1, in Los Angeles. Here’s everything to know about the matchup: Bosnia And Herzegovina’s World Cup Journey Bosnia and Herzegovina finished second in its qualifying group behind Austria. It went 5-2-1 in a group that also included Romania, Cyprus and San Marino. From there, Bosnia and Herzegovina advanced thanks to a pair of victories in penalty shootouts. The first match was against Wales in Cardiff, where Edin Dzeko scored in the 86th minute to make the score 1-1 before the Bosnians then won the shootout 4-2. That victory against Wales set up a home match against Italy in the final playoff round. Italy took a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute, but defender Alessandro Bastoni received a red card in the 41st minute. Bosnia equalized through Haris Tabakovic in the 79th minute (Dzeko assisted the goal), and then it won the shootout 4-1 after two misses from Italy. At the tournament itself, Bosnia and Herzegovina opened with a 1-1 draw against Canada before losing in convincing fashion, 4-1, to Switzerland. Then, a 3-1 win over Qatar was enough to finish third in its group on four points with a -1 goal difference. The Key Players The name that soccer fans are most likely to recognize: Edin Dzeko. The 40-year-old striker is the all-time leader with 150 appearances and 73 goals for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Dzeko has played for Manchester City, Roma and Inter Milan during his career. Since moving to FK Teplice in Czechia in the summer of 2005, he has scored 443 career goals. He is not the same player he was during his days in England or Serie A, but he is still more than capable of taking a chance in front of goal. The first goal against Qatar came from 18-year-old Kerim Alajbegović, who is headed to Bayer Leverkusen in Germany. He’s not the only promising young player for the Bosnians, though. Winger Esmir Bajraktarevic broke through at PSV Eindhoven this past season and made 36 appearances there. Bajraktarevic actually grew up in Appleton, Wisconsin, but opted to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina, where his parents were born. “He was the best passer in this game,” our Brian Sciaretta wrote in his takeaways from Bosnia and Herzegovina’s win over Qatar. “At just 24, Basic is a player not just for this World Cup, but he will also be important to Bosnia & Herzegovina by a long stretch.” Another player who stood out: Ermin Mahmic, who scored Bosnia’s third goal against Qatar after coming off the bench in the 63rd minute. “Finally,” Sciaretta wrote, “there is Ermin Mahmic, the 21-year-old who put the game out of reach with the third Bosnia and Herzegovina goal. Born in Austria to Bosnian parents, Mahmic played for the Austrian youth national teams in the past. It was only last month, in May, when he completed a change-of-association switch with FIFA to play for Bosnia & Herzegovina.
