In the weeks that followed that first piece of dramatic Taylor Frankie Paul footage, the world has learned a lot about a deeply complex and upsetting situation.
She temporarily lost custody of her child. Less importantly, ABC shelved a full episode of The Bachelorette, Meghan Wants a Millionaire style.
After so much light has been shed on the abuse claims, Taylor will not face prosecution for alleged incidents earlier this year.
Now, Dakota Mortensen is making a public statement. And it’s an apology — of sorts.

So late on the night of Sunday, April 19 that it was already Monday morning in most of the world, Dakota shared a message on his Instagram page.
“Over the past several weeks,” he began, “I’ve taken a step back and had time away from the chaos.”
Dakota wrote: “That space has been a breath of fresh air and has given me clarity.”
He claimed: “My focus now is where it should have been all along — on my son.”
Dakota continued: “And creating a stable, healthy environment for him moving forward.”

“I regret not stepping away from a difficult cycle sooner,” Dakota expressed.
“I’m not perfect, and I take accountability for my part,” he alleged. “I’m sincerely sorry to those I’ve hurt.”
Dakota continued: “At the same time, I don’t agree with how this situation has been portrayed publicly.”
According to him: “It does not reflect the full context of what occurred or the impact it has had on me and my son.”
Dakota wrote that he has “chosen to step away from the spotlight to focus on my family, my growth, and our healing, and that’s where my energy will remain.”

The reality TV personality added: “I’m closing an unhealthy chapter and moving forward with hope for better days ahead.”
He expressed: “I’m grateful for all of the encouragement and support I’ve received.”
Dakota continued: “And I’m committed to showing up in a way that reflects that.”
He wrote: “My intention, over time and when appropriate, is to use what I’ve learned in a way that supports others navigating similar situations.”
Dakota concluded: “For now, my priority is on showing up as the best father I can be for Ever.”

In case that last line caused confusion, Ever is the name of the 2-year-old son that he and Taylor Frankie Paul share.
The timing of his post seems like it’s not a coincidence. Authorities have announced that they will not be pursuing criminal charges against Taylor.
Even without ample seeds of doubt — like allegations of abuse and questions of Dakota’s motives during the media circus of recent months — domestic violence cases are difficult to prove.
Some believe that all of this ugliness in the public square played out because Dakota felt jealous of Taylor moving on, as the exes had repeatedly hooked up despite being “over.” The Bachelorette had clearly gotten under his skin.
If that’s true, perhaps he realized that this was more than his family could handle. Taylor clearly has some growing to do, though she may be off to a good start.

Jessie Reyez has dropped a new song titled “N.Y.F.F.” The raw kiss-off track tears an unfaithful man to shreds: “But you’re allergic to the truth/Like the truth just ain’t your shoe size.” “N.Y.F.F.” asserts Reyez’s status as one of the most compelling voices in pop and R&B, and is available to stream now.
“N.Y.F.F” follows last month’s surprise $till Paid EP, a five-track project celebrating one year since Reyez’s critically acclaimed 2025 album Paid in Memories. The EP features a remix with BRIT Award-winning rapper Stormzy and arrived after Reyez completed her massive sold-out Paid in Memories headline world tour in 2025.
Paid in Memories includes the tracks “Goliath,” “NYB,” the viral fan-favorite “Culdn’t B Me,” and “Psilocybin & Daisies,” which samples The Smashing Pumpkins’ “1979.” The album features collaborations with artists such as Ari Lennox, Big Sean, Miguel, Lil Yachty, 6LACK, Lil Wayne, and Deyaz.
In 2025, Reyez released the book Words of A Goat Princess II: The People’s Purge, the second volume in her USA Today Best-Selling poetry series.
In 2024, the Canadian singer-songwriter appeared alongside Kacey Musgraves, Daniel Caesar and more on the soundtrack EP to the biopic Bob Marley: One Love. Reyez contributed a cover of the 1978 song “Is This Love.”
Reyez released her debut studio album, Before Love Came to Kill Us, in 2020. The album includes collaborations with Eminem, 6lack, Rico Nasty, Melii, JID, and A Boogie wit da Hoodie. Before Love Came to Kill Us debuted at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 and was short-listed for the 2020 Polaris Music Prize.
In 2022, she released her second album, Yessie. The following year, she shared the steamy new R&B cut “Jeans,” a collaboration with Miguel. She has since toured with Billie Eilish, Sam Smith, and Jhené Aiko.

Country Thunder Florida has announced that its 2026 festival is moving to a brand-new location. The event was originally set to take place at the TradeWinds Resort on St. Pete Beach, FL, however a recent update reveals it will be relocating Coachman Park in Clearwater.
Fans who were gearing up for a beachfront festival will still get to experience stunning views of the water on May 8–10 as it is located less than 20 miles from the original site. Fox 13 News reports that the reason for the change was due to various environmental concerns.
“While we are disappointed that Country Thunder Florida will no longer take place on St. Pete Beach, it has been a privilege to work alongside the Country Thunder team throughout this process,” said Travis Johnson, Hotel Manager of TradeWinds Resort. “Ultimately, this decision reflects what is best for the overall logistics and long-term success of the event.”

The first-ever takeover of the 19-acre waterfront venue will include performances from Zach Top, Gavin Adcock, Kane Brown, and more. Alongside the headliners, the festival will also feature Randy Houser, Max McNown, Shaboozey, Dasha, and many more.
“This is about putting on the festival we came here to deliver,” says Country Thunder Executive Director Kim Blevins. “As we moved forward with planning for the festival, it became clear that Clearwater offered the infrastructure and community partnership needed to bring this event to life the right way. Coachman Park gives us the ability to execute our full vision and create an unforgettable experience for fans.”
Organizers say that fans can expect to see Coachman Park transform into a bucket-list festival experience as country music lovers from all over the U.S. come together for three days of nonstop music, and coastal ambiance.

In addition to the music, fans will have the chance to browse cowboy hats and apparel, enjoy a wide range of food offerings, and catch performances on a secondary stage dedicated to rising Sunshine State talent. There will also be a Songwriter Showcase onsite, putting the spotlight on the creatives behind the Main Stage’s biggest hits. Sponsor activations keep the energy going across the grounds and will even offer opportunities for surprise artist meet-and-greets.
“We are excited to introduce Country music fans to beautiful waterfront Coachman Park and to be the new location for Country Thunder,” shares City Manager Jennifer Poirrier. “I’m excited to put on my boots and watch the sunset while listening to some great Country music.”
In lieu of the recent venue change, Country Thunder ticket holders interested in a refund can do so at the original point of purchase.
