Chelsea Houska Says She Regrets Putting Her Kids on ‘Teen Mom’

Reading Time: 3 minutes

These days, Chelsea Houska is one of the top home renovation stars on HGTV.

But way back in the day, she got her start on MTV’s infamous Teen Mom franchise.

In fact, Chelsea might be the show’s biggest success story (she’s certainly doing better than Jenelle Evans, anyway).

These days, Chelsea says her approach to reality TV has changed, and that means her children won’t be part of any future Teen Mom coverage.

Houska, who rose to fame alongside her husband, Cole DeBoer, told People this week that while she once shared her kids’ lives on camera, she wouldn’t think of doing that now.

“They were on TV so much, especially Aubree, in her early life. Looking back, I don’t know if I would choose that again at this point,” she said.

From there, she touched on how her views on privacy have changed in recent years.

“I’m so grateful for it and everything. I’m just saying for our kids now, that’s been the biggest difference between the two [shows],”

Chelsea noted that the stakes feel higher now that she and Cole’s children are older and more aware.

“We learned as we’ve gotten older and the kids have gotten older, we really want to be selective on how we show the kids, how much we show the kids, and just really try to protect them,” she explained

The South Dakota native went on to note that her current show, Down Home Fab, is very different from Teen Mom.

“HGTV has been so incredible,” Chelsea explained, adding:

“If you are uncomfortable with the kids being on [camera], you just tell us, that is totally fine. If they don’t want to, it’s okay. We will never dive deep into anything personal with them.”

These days, Chelsea admits that Teen Mom stardom had its downsides. And she claims she has no such problems on HGTV.

“I think I had been on TV for so long before and it was such a different dynamic,” she said, adding:

“Reality TV, such as Teen Mom, was very chaotic, you know, a little negative from time to time. It was a totally different feeling when we started [at] HGTV. I actually wasn’t nervous about any of that.

“I was like, they want us to look good. They want people to love us, and they want to show our true personality. And so I was excited too, just because I trust these people 100% and I’m not nervous about anything. I can say whatever.”

Chelsea’s shift reflects a larger trend among former teen reality stars who have become more selective about what they share as their children grow older.

And while she clearly values the opportunities Teen Mom provided her family, she understands that motherhood today looks different than it did when she first started filming.

Jake Hoot and Girl Named Tom Return To ‘The Voice’ In-Season All-Star Showdown

Two former The Voice winning country acts, Jake Hoot and sibling trio Girl Named Tom, returned for Season 29’s Battle of Champions to represent Kelly Clarkson in a special in-season all-star competition.

On Monday, April 6, the show began with the typical Knockouts round, which found each of the current contestants pairing up against another teammate and choosing their own songs to perform individually. After both singers perform, the coaches were tasked with choosing a winner, which left them with just three contestants to move forward with.

Then, yet another special twist was introduced. Keeping with the fresh format of the season, officially titled The Voice: Battle of Champions, there were no steals or saves allowed in this round. Instead, the first-ever three-coach lineup consisting of Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine and John Legend each selected two artists from previous seasons to compete for the chance to bring a second finalist in the finale.

Clarkson tapped into her country roots and welcomed back the only three-person winners of The Voice Season 21, Girl Named Tom, and Jake Hoot, who claimed the ultimate title on Season 17. To make this portion of the show even more special and nostalgic, all of the returning acts chose to sing songs that they had previously performed during their time on the show. Former coach and previous Mega Mentor, CeeLo Green, was asked to choose the winner of each sing-off.

The sibling group went head-to-head with Season 27 Finalist Renzo, coached by John Legend. They put their stunning harmonies on display with a delicate acoustic guitar-driven rendition of Kansas’ “Dust In The Wind” and ultimately took the win.

“Very excited about Jake Hoot, but also have just the greatest group to ever be on this show, girl named tom representing me,” Clarkson shared in a new Instagram video with the group.

Then it was time for Hoot to take the stage in competition with the show’s first-ever winner, Javier Colon, who was coached by Levine. Colon reprised his Blind Audition song, “Time After Time,” while Hoot delivered an Eagles classic, “Desperado.” Both acts provide why they were clear standouts in their respective seasons, but there could only be one winner.

“You’re gonna crush it,” she told him prior to taking the stage.

Hoot’s mid-tempo delivery that offered tremendous heart and showcased his authentic country vocals was enough to earn a standing ovation from Clarkson and win over Green’s vote.

This second win for Team Clarkson officially declared her the champion of the “In-Season All-Star Competition.” This accomplishment awards her the opportunity to bring an extra artist to the Finale.

The season continues next Monday, April 13, when things heat up with the Top 9 semi-finals and will culminate in the Top 4 finale. For the first time ever, a special voting block made up of super fans and past The Voice artists will join the in-studio audience. They will be tasked with casting real-time votes during the semi-finals and finale to help decide which hopefuls will ultimately be crowned The Voice.

Tune in to find out what happens next when the show airs at 9/8c on NBC with episodes available to stream the following day on Peacock.

South Carolina’s Staley Says Time To Move Past Skirmish With UConn’s Auriemma

South Carolina women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley says it is time to move past her Final Four skirmish with UConn coach Geno Auriemma that became the talk of the tournament. Staley released a statement on South Carolina’s X account on Tuesday in which she expressed her respect for Auriemma and said the two have spoken since South Carolina’s 62-48 victory on Friday night. The season ended with UCLA’s runaway 79-51 win over South Carolina in Sunday’s national championship game. “With the college women’s basketball season behind us, it’s time to move forward and close the chapter on how our semifinal game with UConn ended,” Staley wrote in her statement. “I spoke with Geno and I want to be clear — I have a great deal of respect for him and what he’s meant to the game. One moment doesn’t define a career and it doesn’t change the impact he’s had on growing women’s basketball. “The standard at UConn is what it is because of him, and that’s something this game has benefited from. So I’m asking everyone to turn the page. Let’s refocus on what matters most, continuing to elevate our game, creating opportunities and pushing it forward. That’s always been my mission, and it’s not changing.” Staley’s statement followed Auriemma’s apology on Saturday after he went over to Staley in the final seconds of Friday night’s game and appeared to chastise her. Coaches from both teams had to separate them. When the game finally ended, Auriemma walked off the court to the locker room without going back to shake hands with anyone from South Carolina. [Women’s CBK AP Top 25: National Champion UCLA is The Final No. 1 of 2025-2026] “There’s no excuse for how I handled the end of the game vs. South Carolina,” Auriemma said in his statement on Saturday. “It’s unlike what I do and what our standard is here at Connecticut. I want to apologize to the staff and the team at South Carolina. It was uncalled for in how I reacted. The story should be how well South Carolina played, and I don’t want my actions to detract from that. I’ve had a great relationship with their staff, and I sincerely want to apologize to them.” Reporting by The Associated Press.Latest Sports News from FOX Sports

Taylor Frankie Paul Requests Restraining Order; Judge Refuses to Grant Her Custody of …

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The never-ending Taylor Frankie Paul drama continued today.

Unfortunately, for producers of both The Bachelorette and The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, it’s not the sort of drama that translates to quality reality TV.

According to newly filed court documents, Taylor has filed for a temporary restraining order against Dakota Mortensen.

Taylor, of course, was filmed assaulting Dakota back in 2023.

She has repeatedly claimed that the video doesn’t tell the entire story and that she was the real victim of abuse.

In court documents filed this week, Taylor claims that there was a “pattern of abusive conduct and coercive control” in the relationship.

Shortly after the footage went public, ABC canceled Taylor’s season of The Bachelorette, an unprecedented move that cost the network tens of millions.

Indeed, police in Draper and West Jordan, Utah have confirmed that “allegations have been made in both directions.”

Last month, West Jordan police confirmed to People that there was an “active domestic violence case” involving both Taylor and Dakota, but the details are still unknown.

Reps for Taylor alleged that the video from 2024 “conveniently omits context.”

They also accused Dakota of leaking the footage and called its release a “reprehensible attempt [by Mortensen] to distract from his own behavior.”

“I am, unfortunately, used to these baseless claims about me and our relationship, which I categorically deny,” Mortensen said in a statement.

He was initially awarded sole custody of the couple’s 2-year-old child

In the wake of the video’s release, Taylor lost custody of her youngest child.

In court today, a judge amended the agreement slightly, granting Taylor eight hours of supervised visitation time (per TMZ).

The judge has yet to rule on Taylor’s request for a temporary restraining order.

Since Taylor and Dakota have a kid together, they’ll never be able to fully remove themselves from each other’s lives.

But hopefully — given how much violence and drama there was in their relatively brief relationship — the exes will have minimal contact with one another going forward.

We will have further updates on this developing story as new information becomes available.
