She “didn’t look in the mirror for a year.”
Following her diagnosis, Christina Applegate has offered occasional updates on her worsening multiple sclerosis symptoms.
The disease whose early symptoms she nearly missed has come to define her life.
Part of that journey has meant drastic, harrowing weight loss.

In her new memoir, Applegate is delving into the alarming weight loss that came as a result of her MS battle.
“Sometimes the weight bothered me more than the disease,” she reflects in You With the Sad Eyes.
Applegate goes on to admit: “I didn’t look in the mirror for a year.”
Anyone who has gone through an experience — personally or with a loved one — where mirrors are out of the picture knows that it’s a pretty unsubtle sign that something is wrong.
In this case, alleviating symptoms of her MS involved a dramatic change in diet.

“Then I was put on a clear‑liquid diet because of my stomach issues,” Applegate explains in the text of her book.
“And all of a sudden, everything just dropped off of me,” she explains.
“Within seven months, all of it was gone,” Applegate shares.
“And,” she specifies, “I was down by 50 pounds or more.” That is almost never good news.
“These days,” the 54-year-old actress adds, “my legs are tinier than they’ve ever been.”
Some people go on diets for simple reasons — better sleep, better energy, better nutrition. Her situation is much more dire.
“The illness has given me serious stomach issues,” Applegate writes in her memoir.
“As I write this,” she cites as an example, “there are tamales downstairs that are the best tamales you could ever have — I want to eat five of them right now, I’m so hungry.”
She does not share this anecdote to pass on the craving for tamales like some sort of It Follows situation.
“But I know if I do, I’ll probably end up in the ER again, as I have so many times recently,” Applegate reveals.

Despite the situation, she writes that she has “managed to create a much healthier space” when it comes to her “relationship with food.”
However, that has not alleviated her disease.
The MS has exacted a terrible toll upon her body.
Applegate seems particularly concerned about the appearance of her legs, which she characterizes as “scary-looking.”
She elaborates: “I have no muscles — just sticks. It’s dangerous to be walking around with zero muscles on my body: it means my bones aren’t protected if I fall, and it scares me.”
“But there’s still that little voice in my head saying, ‘You’re really skinny. You have the legs you always wanted. Good for you,’” Applegate remarks in her memoir.
“This is the sickness,” she acknowledges.
Then, Applegate affirms: “But she’s not going to win.”
It has been four and a half years since the actress revealed her multiple sclerosis diagnosis in August 2021.
We continue to wish her the very best.

Priscilla Block returns to the Pupdate, this time with her adorable Goldendoodle, Huck, in tow.
Huck is one of Block’s three dogs, and she lovingly refers to him as her “little muffin.” He has become quite popular among her fanbase (he even has his own Instagram!), and serves as her road dog, often joining her while she is on tour.
“I wanted a road dog. I wish I could bring my other dogs out, but they’re just too big and they shed a lot. But he’s just the perfect size and he’s really loved the road, which is great,” she says.

Block joined us for the Pupdate on a rare day off in Nashville amid her Things You Didn’t See Tour in support of her recently released album of the same name. The project dropped last fall and offered fans a look at a different side of the North Carolina native’s personality. Now that the album has been in fans’ hands for a few months, Block admits the risk of being more vulnerable seems to have paid off.
“I feel like this album has been unbelievably positive. People have really resonated with this record and that was my hope, but I was a little nervous with putting out this album because it’s super vulnerable and it’s a lot deeper than my first record, but I felt like that was really important for me to just let the world know my story and take control of my narrative,” she explains while Huck casually cuddles on her lap.
The album finds Block digging deeper than ever before, putting her unfiltered thoughts and emotions into the lyrics. Songs like “Couldn’t Care Less” explore the side of Block that feels misunderstood, weighed down by criticism, and overlooked when her name isn’t called at award shows, while “Elijah” brings her real-life love story to light.
It may come as a surprise to some, but Block revealed that “Elijah” almost didn’t make the cut for the album.
“I was kind of getting in my head because I was like, ‘What are people going to think?’ And then I thought about that thought and I was like, ‘That’s the dumbest thought ever. Who cares?’ And it’s another reminder that you should never be ashamed of your story and who cares what people think? People just want real and that’s exactly what this record is,” she says. “And it’s been so fun just being able to be like, ‘Okay, this is my man.’ I know y’all have been wondering who he is, you’ve seen the hair, but being able to just be unapologetically in this phase of my life has been awesome. And he loves it. It’s been really cool to see people really just love him too.”
Overall, Block says she is “really proud” of the album and has had the time of her life taking the new music on the road.

“We’ve been on tour since October and it’s coming to an end, which is crazy. But it has been awesome just seeing how people relate to these songs and see themselves in this music,” she points out.
The curtain will officially close on the Things You Didn’t See Tour this week when Block wraps the run with her first-ever headlining show at the iconic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. She says the moment feels like a dream come true.
“I moved to Nashville in 2014. I have waited to headline the Ryman and it’s something that I’m so over the moon about. It’s awesome that I get to do this. I used to play at the bars near the Ryman and it’s cool. I’ve made some calls to some friends in town to see if they might pop up and I want to give everyone just like a killer show,” she teases.

With the tour wrapping up, Block will have a little time to catch her breath and enjoy life at home with her three dogs and boyfriend. When she’s off the road, the singer and her man typically enjoy low-key date nights grilling steaks together and catching up on some of their favorite TV shows.
“We watch a lot of homesteading videos. I am so obsessed with people that live off their land and grow their own garden and just all the things. So literally two nights ago, I watched a guy build a cabin in his backyard. So we’re kind of like on that vibe,” she laughs.

“We’re kind of very much into the farm life and all of that. So the goal is to maybe get some land at some point and, I don’t know, become homesteaders.”
For now, Block is soaking in a season of growth, both personally and professionally, as she celebrates a deeply personal album, a successful tour run, and the next chapter waiting just around the corner.

Back in October of 2025, Prince Andrew was stripped of his land and titles after the extent of his relationship with the deceased sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein was revealed.
And last month, Andrew was arrested for misconduct in public office as a result of his alleged misconduct.
While powerful Americans have managed to evade consequences, the Brits are arresting literal royals, and for some reason, the whole situation has people fuming at … Kate Middleton?

Yes, for reasons that defy logic, Kate is taking a ton of flak for continuing to live her life in the wake of Andrew’s arrest.
The criticism began on the day of Andrew’s arrest, as Kate and Prince William were criticized for being on vacation, of all things.
“Kate and William on vacation, and Charles attending a fashion show while Prince Andrew was being interrogated is not a flex. They’re just showing the world how out of touch they are,” one X user wrote, according to Yahoo! News.
“Yet another holiday for those two lazy bums?” asked a second user.

“Workshy Willie on holiday again,” a third chimed in.
The hate continued when Kate and Will attended the BAFTAs last week, and some critics went even further and accused them of being “complicit” in Andrew’s alleged crimes.
“Pedo protectors enjoying an award show, priorities right?” one person asked, adding:
“Where is the empathy for the victims? This is the only thing that could concern them; restitution.”
“The arrogance is mind-blowing,” wrote another person.

“This seems so out of touch. Very bad optics,” yet another chimed in.
“Their silence is complicit,” another person commented.
“I’m not saying it isn’t wise to keep quiet, just pointing out that the British media has criticized one and not the other. I can’t understand how people continue to defend William and Kate!” yet another exclaimed.
Obviously, Kate and Will are holding off on commenting on an ongoing police matter. And the royals are generally expected to steer clear of scandal and maintain a stiff upper lip.
Still, many speculated about why Kate and Will have thus far declined to comment on the Andrew situation:
“The crisis manager probably told them to lay low while the others take the hits,” speculated one person, adding:
“If William’s reign comes, he should be known as William the Coward. I don’t know if queen consorts are named, but Kate should be known as Kate Middleton the Lazy.”
Will and Kate have yet to reply to this latest round of backlash.

The SAG Actor Awards were this weekend.
Venom star Michelle Williams took home an award. It was well-deserved — and a surprise!
Naturally, just weeks after the passing of James Van Der Beek, this very raw topic came up.
Williams sent her love to his family in her tribute, and also thanked an unexpected group of people.

On Sunday, March 1, the 2026 Actor Awards went down.
Williams took home an award for Dying for Sex.
Her win has been celebrated as a surprise (but deserved) turn for the night.
Naturally, even amidst her celebrations, she faced (gentle) questions about the loss of her former co-star.
James Van Der Beek passed away on February 11, only a little over two weeks earlier.

Chatting with Entertainment Tonight, Williams addressed the impact of Van Der Beek’s death.
“I’m thinking about him and I’m thinking about his family constantly,” she expressed.
From 1998 to 2003, Dawson’s Creek helped define younger Gen X and elder Millennial viewers. It was obviously a big deal for the actors, also.
Van Der Beek portrayed the titular Dawson. Williams portrayed Jen Lindley.
Though she could have stopped with that simple statement, Williams continued.
Williams also expressed her gratitude for the monumental crowdfunding campaign for Van Der Beek’s family.
“I also just want to say, like, it’s been such an amazing thing as James’ friend and a friend of the family,” she remarked.
Williams continued: “To see the response in the wake of his passing.”
She expressed: “And I just really want to say thank you to each and every person who contributed to sustaining their life and their children’s lives.”
Williams concluded: “It’s an incredibly meaningful thing to witness.”

Most GoFundMe projects do not meet their goals. Famous cases — like Van Der Beek’s — are the exception.
Initially, the fundraising goal for the actor’s family was $350,000.
GoFundMe donations surged, quickly surpassing that goal — and each goal that followed — until they brought in over $2.5 million.
Some expressed surprise, given Van Der Beek’s lengthy and beloved career on the small and big screen.
But supporting a family is expensive, and his cancer battle was financially devastating. We are all grateful to the thousands who contributed to Van Der Beek’s family.

Though Van Der Beek’s passing was not a surprise in the way that a sudden death in a fire or a vehicular collision might be, it is still a shock.
Williams is still processing this.
So is his family. And, frankly, so are fans.
For such a difficult and emotional time, Williams gave a very solid answer when it came to her dearly departed friend.
We all wish that he were around to celebrate her award with her.
