Re-Live the All-American Halftime Show Featuring Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Gabby Barrett & Lee Brice

Brantley Gilbert, Gabby Barrett, Lee Brice, and Kid Rock performed as part of Turning Point USA’s first-ever All-American Halftime Show, which streamed on Sunday evening (Feb. 8) simultaneously as Bad Bunny headlined Super Bowl LX from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Brantley Gilbert

The performance kicked off with an instrumental version of “The Star-Spangled Banner” by Gilbert’s guitar player. Moments later, Gilbert took the stage, launching into a high-energy performance of “Real American,” followed by “Dirt Road Anthem,” a song he co-wrote with Colt Ford that later became a massive hit for Jason Aldean.

“I wrote this next song with a good friend of mine by the name of Colt Ford, and Jason Aldean changed our lives and put it on Country radio,” the Georgia native shared.

The set featured fireworks and lasers, and Gilbert sported a shirt reading “God, Family, Country”, reflecting the show’s mission to “celebrate faith, family, and freedom.”

Gabby Barrett

Next up was Gabby Barrett, appearing on stage in a teal pantsuit with a peplum waist. She opened with her breakout No. 1 hit, “I Hope,” before following it with her chart-topper “The Good Ones,” keeping the energy high while fans sang along in the background.

Lee Brice

Lee Brice took the lead on the next segment with a three-song set, performing “Drinking Class,” “Hard To Love,” and debuting a bold new track, “Country Nowadays.” The song made a bold statement, and fans can likely expect it to appear on his next album.

It’s worth noting that the show appeared to be pre-taped, as the transitions between performances happened quite abruptly.

Kid Rock

Headlining the show was Kid Rock, who made a dramatic entrance leaping onto the stage wearing a white fur vest, denim shorts, and a top hat, as an American flag dropped from above, filling the back of the stage. With his name in lights overhead, he launched into “Bawitdaba,” moving around the stage as flames shot into the air and fans cheered wildly.

For his second performance, the mood shifted completely. The stage went dark, and a cellist and violinist appeared, setting the tone for a more intimate moment.

Introduced as Robert Ritchie, he returned wearing a different outfit and playing an acoustic guitar. He performed “‘Til You Can’t,” a song written by Ben Stennis and Matt Rogers and made famous by Cody Johnson. Kid Rock shared that he had recently woken up in the middle of the night feeling inspired to add a new verse to the song, making this rendition truly unique.

During his performance, he added the verse as he sang, ““There’s a book that is sitting in your house somewhere that could use some dusting off/ There’s a man that died for all our sins/ hanging from the cross/ You can give your life to Jesus/ and he’ll give you a second chance/ ’til you can’t…”

Following the All-American Halftime Show, Kid Rock revealed plans to release his version of the song at midnight.

“A big thank you to Cody Johnson and the songwriters Ben Stennis and Matt Rogers for giving me there blessing to record and release it,” he wrote. “It really is one of the best written songs I have heard in a long time and NOTHING is more powerful than a great song in my book!”

The alternative halftime show concluded with a tribute, as “In Remembrance of Charlie Kirk” appeared on the screens alongside photos of Kirk and his family.

Fans React to Brandi Carlile’s ‘America the Beautiful’ Performance At Super Bowl LX

All eyes were on longtime Seattle Seahawks fan Brandi Carlile on Sunday (Feb. 8) as she took the field at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California to perform “America the Beautiful” ahead of Super Bowl LX.

Carlile was joined on the field by deaf artist Julian Ortiz, who delivered a powerful American Sign Language interpretation of the song alongside her. The performance also featured string players, while Carlile played guitar as she sang.

Throughout the emotional moment, cameras cut to players from both Super Bowl LX teams, the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots, along with shots of American troops. An American flag stretched across the field as Carlile’s performance unfolded.

This marked the Washington native’s first time singing “America the Beautiful” and it’s safe to say she knocked it out of the park.

Reactions poured in online following her big moment, with viewers praising her “beautiful voice” and others declaring “she sounded amazing.”

“Brandi Carlile with the best performance of the day so far. She’s the [goat] though so I’m not surprised,” one social media user wrote.

Another noted, “I hope someone who’s never heard of Brandi Carlile before saw her perform tonight and was blown away.”

“Brandi Carlile is so effortless, with pen and with voice! So beautiful, so admirable,” another user shared.

Ahead of the big game, Carlile described her performance as “a melodically centered version, instead of a rhythmically centered version” of “America the Beautiful.” She delivered on that in front of an estimated audience of over 125 million watching from across the country.

She told Variety that this marked her first time performing the song. Carlile previously sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” at a Seattle Seahawks game more than a decade ago, while Charlie Puth handled the national anthem duties tonight.

“I sang ‘The Star Spangled Banner’ a couple of times in high school, and I sang it for the Seattle Storm a couple of times early on when I was really young, and then I sang it once for the Seahawks in one really, really big game [in 2015]. That is a really, really hard song. So I’ve sung that one before,” she explained to the publication.

“But I’ve never sung ‘America the Beautiful.’ I’ve been hearing it my whole life, but I do remember when I first sort of clocked it. I was invited to the White House when Obama was president to sing on the lawn on the 4th of July, and Brandon Flowers [frontman of the Killers] sang it. I just remember hearing it that way, as a modern song, and I was like, ‘Oh, that is a beautiful song’ — beautiful melodically, and lyrically beautiful. Other than that, my exposure to it has been that the definitive versions of the song have been Ray Charles and Whitney Houston, and those versions can’t be touched.”

When Variety asked the 11-time GRAMMY winner about performing the song during “a time of trouble and division,” she shared her hope for the country: “And I think if we’re gonna save this country as a people, we have to be reminded on some level that deep down we love it.”

Brandi Carlile’s performance of “America the Beautiful” aired ahead of Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Game day festivities kicked off at 6:30 p.m. ET and aired Sunday, February 8, at 6:30 p.m. ET on NBC, Peacock, Telemundo, and Universo.

Catch or No Catch? Cooper Kupp’s Bobbling Grab Helps Give Seahawks Early Super Bowl Lead

The Seattle Seahawks were able to take a 3-0 lead on the opening drive of Super Bowl LX, but their biggest play of the drive might have been one that shouldn’t have counted. On the fourth play of the opening drive, Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold completed a pass to wide receiver Cooper Kupp along the sideline for a 23-yard gain over New England Patriots cornerback Marcus Jones. However, on a second look, it appeared that Kupp might have bobbled the ball and didn’t have full possession as he went out of bounds. The Patriots didn’t challenge the play, though, and the replay assist didn’t buzz in. So, the catch stood, and the Seahawks were able to set themselves up at the Patriots’ 17-yard line. Seattle’s opening drive didn’t progress much after that. Darnold threw an errant pass on first down. Following a three-yard carry by Kenneth Walker III on second down, the Patriots were able to force the Seahawks off the field as Darnold’s third-down pass to wide receiver Rashid Shaheed fell incomplete. The Seahawks settled for a 33-yard field goal, with kicker Jason Myers’ kick giving them a 3-0 lead just over three minutes in.Latest Sports News from FOX Sports
