Dwight Yoakam Details Frightening Plane Emergency That Delayed Lubbock Concert by Over an Hour

Dwight Yoakam has addressed fans after a Lubbock, TX, show ran over an hour and a half late on Thursday (Feb. 12). In a new statement shared across social media, he explained that the delay was caused by a frightening plane emergency before takeoff and said he wanted to “personally” apologize that the information was not communicated more clearly to the audience at the time.

The country singer began by acknowledging that it wasn’t until today that he fully understood why fans in attendance at the Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences were so frustrated in the moment. He explained that updates about his late arrival hadn’t been communicated clearly at the time, and instead, only a “vague anonymous PA announcement” was made.

While a packed crowd was waiting for him, he says the plane he had boarded was facing an emergency in the cockpit, causing the crew to abort takeoff.

What actually happened Thursday afternoon was that we had an emergency takeoff abort as the aircraft was about to lift off from the runway due to a mechanical failure warning in the cockpit.”

Luckily, the situation was quickly handled with “exceptional professional skill,” thus preventing any more serious or potentially catastrophic outcomes.

“After taxiing back to the hangar and concluding that the issue with the aircraft could not be corrected, we were luckily able to be moved to a different plane and continue our flight to the show in Lubbock approximately an hour and thirty minutes after my scheduled 9:00PM stage time,” he continued.

After the show took place, several fans in attendance returned to a Facebook post by the venue to share their experience, many of which voiced their dissatisfaction with the night.

One user noted that it was incredibly “unprofessional” behalf of the venue as only two announcements were made and attendees were not allowed re-entry

“As I look down on the audience I see a lot of empty seats where I’m sure people left. It will be a long time before I attend another event there,” the frustrated user wrote.

Another said, “we all waited and waited….and waited. Might have been less irritating if y’all had attempted to communicate.”

It seems that refunds were offered upon request and that the opening band attempted to keep the audience entertained for as long as possible. Under Yoakam’s recent post, fans simply expressed gratitude that everyone was safe in the end and stated that his kind words were greatly appreciated. One even noted that the show was “definitely worth the wait.”

Yoakam once again expressed his “sincere apologies” to everyone who was affected by the delay and not properly updated in the process.

“I am very sorry for any frustration and disappointment the delay caused,” he added.

This show marked the Kentucky native’s first headline show of 2026. He has several more headline shows on the books, as well as dates with ZZ Top for the Dos Amigos Tour. This trek

Begins March 26 in Brookings, SD and continues through May.

Fans can next catch the “Fast As You” singer performing in Mobile, AL on Thursday, February 19.

Shia LaBeouf Hospitalized, Arrested In New Orleans After ‘Terrorizing City’ …

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Well, Shia LaBeouf is back in the news.

And just like the last 100 or so times he made headlines, it’s not for anything good.

LaBeouf has battled substance abuse issues for years, and it seems his demons got the best of him this week during a trip to New Orleans for the city’s world-famous Mardi Gras celebrations.

US actor Shia Labeouf poses during a photocall for the film "Slauson Rec" at the 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, southern France, on May 18, 2025.

The actor started his celebrations ahead of schedule with a Fat Monday celebration.

And it seems he started to get violent after becoming rather inebriated in a bar.

According to a police report obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, staff at Ms. Mae’s “ejected” Shia, alleging that he was “causing a disturbance” and getting increasingly “aggressive” with other patrons.

He left, but then returned “acting even more aggressive.” As you might’ve guessed, things continued to go downhill from there.

Shia allegedly attacked another man in the bar — it’s unclear if he was staff or a patron — and had to be restrained while a bartender called the police.

According to a statement from the New Orleans Police Department:

“Multiple people attempted to hold [LaBeouf] down — he was eventually let up in hopes that he would leave — but he reportedly again struck the same victim with closed fists to the victim’s upper body.

“LaBeouf then reportedly assaulted another person — punching him in the nose. LaBeouf was again held down until police arrived.”

LaBeouf was taken to placed under arrest and taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for minor injuries he sustained in the fight.

It seems that he has now been released from custody, but it’s not clear if he was forced to post bail.

Staff at Ms. Mae’s say the trouble began when LeBeouf tried to play “celebrity bartender” despite their repeated warnings to remain out of the areas marked “staff only.”

If his shenanigans had ended there, he probably wouldn’t be in the tabloids today.

But according to multiple New Orleans residents, Shia’s behavior has been growing increasingly erratic in the days leading up to his arrest.

“He is terrorizing the city!” one bartender told THR.

The trouble reportedly began back on Thursday night, when Shia popped up at the jazz club Dos Jefes, where he promptly succeeded in making a nuisance of himself.

“He was louder than everyone and was giving acting instructions to a girl at the bar,” said one patron.

In multiple photos, Shia can be seen walking the streets of New Orleans shirtless, his large back tattoo honoring his child with Mia Goth on full display.

We’ll have to wait and see if Shia is in attendance at today’s Mardi Gras parades. Though a veteran in the world of hard-partying, it seems he may have made the rookie mistake of pre-gaming much too hard.

Pedro Pascal & Rafael Olarra Spark Speculation with Cozy V-Day Weekend Stroll, Lunch, …

Reading Time: 3 minutes

There seem to be few things that fans love more than Pedro Pascal dating speculation.

He’s an A-list actor. He’s a famously good person.

And he’s also one of the most desired men on the planet.

Over Valentine’s Day weekend, he went around New York getting touchy-feely with Rafael Olarra.

It’s not dinner-and-a-movie, but it’s close

TMZ reports that Pascal and Olarra appeared to be sightseeing in New York over Valentine’s Day weekend.

Not necessarily on the day itself, however.

On Sunday, February 15, the two took an apparent tour of the Lower East Side.

Photos show Olarra with his arm around Pascal as they make their way in the obvious cold. (You can see how bundled up they both were, though Pascal seemed to feel it a bit more)

The two also sat down to lunch together that same day.

At some point after lunch, Pascal and Olarra sat down in the theater to watch Wuthering Heights.

Emerald Fennel’s adaptation of the 19th Century novel by Emily Brontë has been controversial, for both good and bad reasons.

(In general, Fennel comes from money in a very British way, and this tends to be a useful lens through which to understand her work and her creative choices)

This adaptation stars Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. Though these are both attractive, talented actors, is Wuthering Heights the ideal film to see over Valentine’s Day weekend?

That’s going to depend upon who’s seeing it, and what kind of mood you want to be in after the film. Whatever the answer, it’s too late now.

Lunch and a movie on Valentine’s Day weekend … what does it mean?

Over the past couple of years, wild speculation has attempted to link Pascal to two famous blonde women.

In early 2024, he and Jennifer Aniston held hands on the red carpet.

He displayed similar PDA with Vanessa Kirby as the two promoted Fantastic Four: First Steps last summer.

However, no evidence of actual romantic entanglements with either ever came of it.

And, to be honest, they looked more like PR stunts between fellow professionals who get along very well. (If you’ve ever had an easy rapport with friends only for people to suspect that you were dating, you know how it goes)

Would it surprise you to learn that Pascal has never publicly confirmed any romantic relationship?

In fact, he’s been very deliberate about keeping his personal life, including dating, separate from his career.

When Pascal speaks in public, it’s about work or using his platform to make the world a better place.

We have all watched as public scrutiny causes a relationship to wither and die in the spotlight.

Pascal has seen this, too. He doesn’t want that for himself. And why would he?

Who is Rafael Olarra?

First and foremost, we need to emphasize that this is not the soccer player Rafael Olarra. Two men can have the same name.

Rafa’s last reported romantic entanglement was with Luke Evans, the Welsh singer and actor. (If you don’t recognize his name, you’d definitely recognize his face.)

He and Evans split in 2021. They had, at that time, bee dating for a little over a year.

Is it possible that he and Pascal are dating? Sure. Many things in this world are possible.

But as anyone with a normal social life can tell you, it’s also entirely possible for friends to see films and eat meals together without romance.

So, for now, we’ll avoid jumping to conclusions. But we hope that both of these handsome guys had a great weekend!

Men’s Player of the Year Ladder: JT Toppin Moves Up, Keaton Wagler In the Mix

When you drop 31 points and grab 13 rebounds in an overtime win against the No. 1-ranked team in the country, chances are you are going to make a big jump on the ladder. That’s the case for Texas Tech forward JT Toppin, who put together one of the top individual performances of the 2025-26 college basketball season up to this point. Toppin’s big-time performance, coupled with an unfortunate injury to North Carolina freshman standout Caleb Wilson, led to some reshuffling in the third edition of my men’s college basketball Player of the Year Ladder. Kansas freshman Darryn Peterson is off the list for the first time this season after missing the Jayhawks’ 82-78 win over Arizona, and then producing a 10-point, zero-rebound, zero-assist showing in a loss to Iowa State. But with that comes opportunity for others, as we welcome a pair of freshman point guards to the list. With that context in mind, here’s how this week’s men’s Player of the Year Ladder shakes out. Honorable mention: Kansas guard Darryn Peterson, Wisconsin guard Nick Boyd, Texas Tech guard Christian Anderson, St. John’s forward Zuby Ejiofor, Iowa guard Bennett Stirtz 10. Keaton Wagler, Illinois freshman guard Wagler is one of five freshmen included in this week’s Player of the Year Ladder. His rise from a three-star recruit to Illinois’ best player has been so fun to watch. His scoring has slowed down a bit after his memorable 46-point outing at Purdue three weeks ago, but his entire body of work has earned him a seat at this table. 9. Kingston Flemings, Houston freshman guard Flemings probably should have been included on this list last week. He’s a freshman who joined a senior-laden backcourt with Milos Uzan and Emanuel Sharp, but he has taken control of this Houston offense, which I didn’t think would be possible. He has also played himself into a top-10 pick in the NBA Draft. 8. Braden Smith, Purdue senior guard I give point guards more credit than other positions. Smith entered this season with massive expectations, and, for the most part, he has delivered. Purdue owns the No. 3-ranked offense in the country, per KenPom, and Smith is the leader. The standout senior guard is also shooting a career-high 48% from the field. 7. Jeremy Fears Jr., Michigan State sophomore guard I still haven’t come back down from his incredible performance against Illinois last week (26 points and 15 assists). Michigan State would be average at best without Fears. His scoring has surprised me most this year. 6. Darius Acuff, Arkansas freshman guard If you haven’t watched Arkansas play this season, go on YouTube right now and catch some highlights. There you will find Acuff, the best scoring point guard in the country. He is special and he brings it every game. 5. Yaxel Lendeborg, Michigan senior forward Here comes Lendeborg down the final stretch of Big Ten play! Michigan is so talented and deep that Lendeborg can’t put up the same scoring numbers as Duke’s Cameron Boozer and BYU’s AJ Dybantsa, but he’s nearly as good as those guys — and he’s better defensively. 4. Joshua Jefferson, Iowa State senior forward When you watch Jefferson play, his athleticism doesn’t jump off the page, and he’s not nearly as big of a scorer as some of the others on this list, but he is the MVP of Iowa State on both ends of the floor. 3. JT Toppin, Texas Tech junior forward Toppin’s performance against Arizona’s stellar frontline was as impressive as anything he’s done all year. He had 31 points, 13 rebounds and came up big down the stretch in Texas Tech’s overtime win. That performance will likely keep him in the top three of my list for the rest of the season. 2. AJ Dybantsa, BYU freshman forward Dybantsa is averaging 29 points per game in the month of February. BYU’s team hasn’t been very good, but it’s not because Dybantsa hasn’t lived up to the hype. His teammate, Richie Saunders, tore his ACL on Saturday, which will put more on Dybantsa’s shoulders. 1. Cameron Boozer, Duke freshman forward No one is asked to do more for their team than Boozer. He had impossible shoes to fill, following Cooper Flagg, but he has mostly filled them. Boozer is the most consistent playmaker and rebounder on this talented list of players.Latest Sports News from FOX Sports
