Kenny Chesney Has No Plans To Retire Anytime Soon: ‘I Know What I’m Doing in 2027’

At 57, Kenny Chesney has cemented his legacy in the Country Music Hall of Fame, but while some of his peers might be slowing down to enjoy life beyond music, Chesney isn’t planning on hitting the brakes anytime soon.

“I love creating. That’s what I’ve always done, so I don’t see [slowing down] in my near future,” he recently told PEOPLE. “My life is already so planned out. I know what I’m doing in 2027!”

The East Tennessee native’s schedule is packed. With his first-ever book, Heart Life Music, set to release on November 4 and a return to the Sphere in Las Vegas next summer, Chesney shows no signs of slowing down, especially when being on stage is where he feels most alive.

“I know this sounds crazy, but to be in front of 60,000 people on stage, that is where I feel the most comfortable in my life. It truly is. Because when we’re up there for two hours, nobody can mess with me or the band. It’s just us giving the audience everything we have and the audience giving everything back,” he explained.

“That is one of the most unbelievable feelings that I’ve ever felt in my life. It’s my drug of choice. I don’t regret giving my whole adult life to creating because… what a way to live. That’s what I’ve always done.”

The eight-time Entertainer of the Year has been filling America’s biggest stadiums for over 20 years, playing to more than a million fans each summer since 2002. Watching him perform, it’s obvious he shares a rare connection with both the stage and his audience.

“I love what I do. I love making music,” he declared, adding, “and I love being on that stage, more than any place in the world.”

Soon, Chesney will take the spotlight in a new way: hitting the road for his book tour starting this weekend. Several stops, including Boston, Key West, and Tampa, have already sold out.

Looking ahead to 2026, he’ll return to Las Vegas for another run, with tickets already on sale.

Miranda Lambert Reflects on Her Musical Journey: ‘I Did It Old-School’

Once Miranda Lambert realized music was her one true passion in life, she never looked back. As a teenager, she began performing in local dive bars and became “laser focused” with no backup plan, and luckily, she never needed one. Now, she’s learning how to adapt to the new age of country music while staying true to her roots.

“I wasn’t in a spotlight at first. I was playing sh**holes…I don’t know. I feel like that, I didn’t have a choice. It’s the only thing I’ve ever been good at. Everything is hard. Everything else is hard to me. But music was the only thing that I was like, I guess that’s what I’m supposed to do. I’m actually good at it. it comes naturally,” she said during an appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience.

The superstar admitted she barely graduated high school and didn’t want to waste her dad’s money going to college, knowing that music was the path she was meant to pursue. That drive, she says, is what has set her apart and helped her earn her spot in the industry.

“The hunger that it creates is a fire that you can’t explain…I feel like we’re the lucky ones when we get to, we know this is what I’m supposed to do. This is what I’m going to chase no matter what it costs,” she explained. “I see so many people that are so immensely talented that just didn’t happen for, and you don’t know why. You don’t know if it was one little factor of a period in their life or just not seeing at the right time or chasing the right thing at the right time. And I don’t know, I feel very thankful for that.”

Cutting her teeth the “Old School” Way

At the very start of her career, Lambert used that determination and put in the word to get her name in front of radio stations in an attempt to play her music. Meanwhile, she played hole in the wall bars or anywhere that would allow her to play so that she could hone in on her craft and figure out exactly how to work a crowd.

“I think that that’s why I’m glad I didn’t go to college, but I got to have the learning times of just being 17, 18, 19, 20, just learning life while playing music. But it was just kind of in some, dive bar somewhere. It wasn’t in front of people. You know what I mean? And you get to build your character. You get to figure out who you are.”

The New, Digital Era Of Country Music

With the new age of social media, this early experience is something a lot of new artists don’t experience. They gain momentum online and find themselves rising onto the scene at a rapid pace.

“I was stapling my posters to a phone pole when I started. I did it old-school, boots on the ground walking up to the radio station, knocking on the door saying, ‘can I play a song?’” Lambert recalls. “Me and my mom in her ford expedition driving around all over Texas, me going, ‘I’m a singer, songwriter.’ And now I’m like, damn. I’m jealous of the way that people can do it now.”

Rogan was quick to point out that cutting her teeth that was likely helped her gain a lot of knowledge and character about the business. While Lambert agreed and stated she’s thankful for that, there’s a small part of her that is in disbelief over how things have changed for the new generation.

“I’m also like, well damn, these kids, they just post something like a hundred million people see it in a night. Like what’s happening?”

She continued, “Mind boggling. I can’t even put it into words thinking how you could get your chops and how you did it fight by fight. You did it stage by stage…it just happened so fast and it’s like then you still have to pay the dues, but it’s just backwards.”

The Positive Side Of Social Media

Along with some of the cons that come with the digital age, Miranda Lambert acknowledges that it can also be a great tool. She has had firsthand experiences with the benefits of social media, noting that her label, Big Loud Texas, has discovered artists though TikTok.

“You can’t keep up with it, so I don’t try to keep up with it…I was like, maybe I need TikTok. There’s a lot of music on TikTok. There’s a lot of musicians and we have a label now called Big Loud Texas. Our office is in Austin. And I’m like, I know there’s an amazing talent on there. And one of our flagship artists, Dylan Gossett, posted something awesome on there and now he’s out there crushing it. So I feel like I’m missing out. But then I’m like, do I need one more thing? I don’t know.”

“I’m thankful for it too, by the way. I found some great talent and learned some really cool recipes and get to talk about rescue dogs. There’s the good things about it,” she added.

From stapling posters to phone poles and playing dive bars, to building a career that now spans decades, Miranda Lambert has stayed true to herself through it all even while trying to adapt to an ever-changing music landscape. Plus, she remains grounded by constantly learning and pursuing new goals, whether it’s seeking out new artists, picking up new hobbies, or engaging in interests beyond her music.

“I’m also trying to learn new things at 40 because I spent my whole adult life doing that,” she said of music. “So now I’m like, what can we do next? Let’s find another hobby.”

Brandon Lake Responds To Viral Video Of Hospitalized Fan Who Says His Music Helped Her Survive

Brandon Lake’s powerful worship music continues to touch lives around the world, and a recent video by social media creator Alexandria Cheplak is proof. From her hospital bed, Cheplak posted an emotional message asking fans to help her get the attention of the Grammy Award-winning Christian artist in hopes of getting to experience his talent live.

In the video, she opens up about her year-long health journey, which has included numerous heart surgeries, at least 40 nights in the hospital and a slew of various complications. Through it all, she says worship music, especially Brandon Lake’s songs, has been her constant source of strength.

“The one thing that has gotten us all through is worship music,” she explained. “Every time I’ve gone down for a scan, every time the surgeon was about to start a heart surgery, we have them blast. My favorite worship music and my faith has just really kept me going through this.”

Cheplak then took the opportunity to ask for “a favor,” which involved getting as many people as possible to tag Lake in the comment section of the video. Because of the impact his music has had on her life, she had hoped to attend his upcoming show in Nevada on November 14. Unfortunately, with the concert being sold-out, she decided to try going directly to the source.

“My family and I would love, love to just be there, be a part of it, and to see all that God is doing through his shows and to just worship and praise together. So please do me a favor and tag him. We need him to see this. I love you all so much. Thanks for all the support,” her statement concluded.

Within just 12 hours of the video being posted, over 1100 users tagged the singer/songwriter and offered kind messages explaining why Cheplak deserved to attend the show that night.

Some of the notes she received included:

@brandonlake you are looking at your most beautiful fan🙌❤️”

“@brandonlake ! She is the most humble Christian mother /friend I know ! She was walked these challenges with such grace and positivity ! 💙like your lyrics sing “You can praise when you’re wounded, praise when you’re broken, Praise when you’re barely holding on.”- that is exactly what Lexi has done.”

@brandonlake please hear and see this, let’s send some joy and Jesus to this wonderful lady 🤍”

Hollywood actor, Taylor Lautner even joined in writing, “@brandonlake Lexi is a beautiful human inside and out, just like you. Love you 🙏”

The efforts of thousands of Instagram users worked because not long after, Brandon Lake jumped into the comment section to let the woman know he would be fulfilling her wish to attend his show.

He wrote, “I gotchu Lexi!! Shooting you a DM and we’ll make sure you all get tickets and hosted for the best night!!!”

Alexandria Cheplak shared with Country Now that the past 11 months have been incredibly challenging. Among the 30 total heart surgeries she has undergone, four took place this year and the most recent one left her “on life support, bleeding out, and a ventilator for a week.”

She particularly called out Brandon Lake’s collaboration with Jelly Roll, “Hard Fought Hallelujah” for giving her the courage to continue fighting her “hardest battle yet.” This alone will make her concert experience unforgettable.

“Witnessing these songs live will be so healing and special for me! Especially the line “my head heart and hands are feeling heavy that’s when I lift them just a little higher,” she explained.

The user’s most recent update via social media revealed that while she will have to be on home oxygen, she has been discharged from the hospital.

“Thank you Jesus. This heart warrior won’t stop fighting until I stop breathing.”

Gabby Mooney Shares Her Near-Death Experience And Debuts New Song, ‘Safe,’ on Hulu’s ‘IMPACT x Nightline’

Country singer Gabby Mooney, sister of Dan + Shay’s Shay Mooney, has faced plenty of challenges while chasing her musical dreams, but none can compare to the night she nearly lost her life. She appears in Hulu’s IMPACT x Nightline in the new episode “Back From The Dead,” to tell her story and debut her new single, “Safe.”

Ahead of the episode, which is now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu, the songstress sat down for an emotional interview with ABC’s Nightline correspondent Ashan Singh. She explained that all the plans she had for her life and her music career almost came to a screeching halt a few years ago. What started as a bad headache on a normal drive home to Arkansas in 2023 quickly turned into a life-or-death emergency that changed her forever.

“This one was so pounding that I could barely see the road, but I remember thinking, I’m just going to keep driving,” she recalled. “You’re going to feel so much better in your own bed. And I just wanted to make it home.”

Singh notes that while Mooney did arrive to the comfort of her own home, she had no idea what the night would hold. Just hours after heading to bed, her mom woke up in the middle of the night and found that Mooney had gotten much sicker.

“She’s like, ‘ah, I think we need to take you to the hospital.’ And I said, ‘no, no, no, I’m good.’ And she said, I started having seizures,” Mooney recalls. “It was tornado weather, so the ambulances were not running. And so my dad and my mom, they called a private ambulance company and they met them at a Baptist church about a few miles up the road so they could get me to the ER faster. I was having apparently multiple seizures in the ambulance.”

Once she reached the hospitals, the singer revealed she flatlined while doctors attempted to intubate her.

“I died,” she stated.

It was in that moment between life and death that Mooney says she felt the presence of Jesus more clearly than ever before.

“When I was ‘dead,’ I just knew that it was just like Jesus’ hand was just going like this, and my spirit was rising and it was just like, not yet. And I felt that of knowing that it was not my time, and it was just like this communication between me and the father, but also it felt the most peaceful, incredible feeling I had ever felt in my life. I didn’t want to come back.”

Fans can learn more about her 2023 health scare that nearly took her life, the profound experience she had on the other side, and how she has turned that terrifying night into a story of resilience in the Halloween edition of the show produced by IMPACT by Nightline.

In the episode “Back From the Dead,” correspondent Ashan Singh dives into society’s fascination with death, the afterlife, and paranormal experiences. He also dives into interviews with others who have had near-death experiences like Gabby Mooney and highlights notable high-profile accidents such as Jeremy Renner’s 2023 snowplow crash. Plus, viewers can watch him and paranormal investigators visit the reportedly haunted 1910 Gila County Jail in Globe, Arizona, in an attempt to explore the unknown.

The episode also includes the exclusive debut of Gabby Mooney’s new song “Safe,” marking the first time the track has been heard publicly. The tune was penned by Mooney with Lukas Scott Klingensmith and will officially be released tomorrow, October 31.

Ari Lennox Shares ‘Under The Moon’ Music Video

Ari Lennox is continuing to warm fans up for her third album Vacancy with a new music video for her song “Under The Moon.” Lennox first released the song last week, but expands the track with the clip, which arrives with a spooky twist just in time for Halloween. Vacancy is out on January 23, 2026 and is available for preorder now.

In the music video, directed by Erik Rojas, Lennox dines with a man in a diner late at night. Immediately, he gives off a couple of red flags: he won’t touch any silverware, his eyes seem to be glowing, and he begins to grow claws as the full moon rises into the restaurant’s window. While most people would flee from a werewolf, it turns out that Lennox is also a werewolf herself. As the two take their romance to the parking lot, they transform into the beasts of the night, running atop city buildings and sharing an embrace under the moon, up on some roofs.

“Under The Moon” is the second single shared in advance of Vacancy; the title track and lead single was released back in September. Vacancy follows Lennox’s 2022 album age/sex/location and 2019 album Shea Butter Baby. Both albums were critically acclaimed, with the earlier album having been certified gold in the United States.

Lennox cites a massive list of impressive reference points for her music, telling GQ in 2019 that she was “inspired by Missy Elliott, Tweet, SWV, 702, En Vogue, Anita Baker, Oleta Adams, Billy Ocean, D’Angelo, Bilal, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, Omarion, Ciara, Ashanti, Petey Pablo, Kanye West, Common, Jazmine Sullivan, Chrisette Michele, and Floetry. I listened to all of them, studied all of them.” While it’s safe to say that all of Lennox’s studying paid off, she’s also steadfast that she is her own artist, as anyone who listens to her music knows well.

Order Ari Lennox’s Vacancy now.
