Dierks Bentley and Zach Top Put a Country Spin On TikTok’s ‘Bugatti’ Trend With Alan Jackson’s ‘Drive (For Daddy Gene)’

There’s no doubt that Dierks Bentley and Zach Top are having fun both on and off stage while on the road together for Bentley’s headlining Broken Branches Tour. Their most recent antics involved taking part in the TikTok’s viral “Bugatti” trend during a stop in Boston, MA.

When Top first joined the run as a special guest, fans were introduced to his alter ego, “Billy Bottoms,” marking his debut in Bentley’s comedic ‘90s influenced group, Hot Country Knights. He and Bentley’s persona Douglas ‘Doug’ Dougalson, made a resurgence while filming the hilarious social media trend.

The trend typically involves couples using Ace Hood’s 2013 anthem “Bugatti” featuring Rick Ross and Future, and specifically highlights the hook, “I woke up in a new Bugatti.” The first person to appear on camera sits on the floor with their arms up to mimic shifting the luxury car into gear and once that beat drops, their partner off-camera yanks them out of frame with ease. When roles are reversed the “driver” barely moves, indicating that their weight is too much for their partner to pull.

Bentley and Top decided to take part in the trend, but they put their own country twist on it by trading the hip-hop anthem for Alan Jackson’s “Drive (For Daddy Gene).” Sporting their Hot Country Knights looks, each member of the band, starting with “Doug” Dougalson, were pulled away in ease as Jackson sings “Daddy let me drive.”

Once it was Zach Top’s turn, the country singer was pulled away at a hilariously slow speed. However, he made the most out of the joke by cracking open a cold one as he moved out of frame.

The caption matched the videos comedic spirit as it read, “Almost had to leave Billy Bottoms Jr. in Boston!”

Fans filled the comment section of the video with praise for their ability to bring the fun and laughs to any setting.

“This is the best thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life”

“This trend >>>over the Bugatti trend”

“I feel like this might be the most fun touring pair of the year!”

“so this is actually the best thing i’ve ever seen”

Fans are clearly loving Top’s jorts-wearing, cigarette-smoking alter ego. He made his first appearance in the form of the character at Country Fest in Ohio, where Doug announced him as a newly released ex-con. Since then, Bottoms has become a fan-favorite and his role in the viral video only adds to the growing support for Top’s on-stage double life.

The Broken Branches Tour kicked off on May 29 and features Dierks Bentley with special guests Zach Top, and The Band Loula. This trek is in support of Bentley’s 11th studio album of the same name, which dropped on June 13 and includes 11 tracks. Among the songs are several collaborations with special guests such as Riley Green and John Anderson, as well as Miranda Lambert and Stephen Wilson Jr.

The next stop on Dierks Bentley’s Broken Branches tour is set to take place in Cincinnati, OH on July 18 followed by Noblesville, IN on July 19.

@alexandrakaymusic That would literally be MY DREAM COME TRUE @Brad Paisley 🥹 see ya this weekend! 🛻🎀 #thecoffeegirl #alexandrakay ♬ Whiskey Lullaby (feat. Alison Krauss) – Brad Paisley

She admitted she would “cry” if it happened and called it “literally my dream come true.”

Written by Bill Anderson and Jon Randall, “Whiskey Lullaby” was recorded by Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss and released in 2004 on Paisley’s Mud on the Tires album. The emotional ballad has since been certified 2x Platinum by the RIAA.

Reflecting on the milestone moment, Alexandra Kay wrote, “First night out with @bradpaisley .. an absolute dream come true. I have NEVER seen so many AK Tshirts in the crowd before. Prior to the tour, Kay reflected on getting the call to tour with Brad Paisley, admitting that she “called everyone” in her family to deliver the news. She also shared her excitement for having the opportunity to collaborate with Paisley during his show.

“When I found out what song he wanted to bring me out and have that moment with, I lost my mind,” she admitted to Country Now. “So it’s going to be iconic. I’m so excited, and I am such a Brad Paisley fan, and what really gets me excited about going out on tour with somebody is how many songs I know and Brad is just full of number one songs, full of hit songs. So I just am honestly just as excited to go out and be on the stage with him.”

Later, she shared plans to watch Paisley’s show every night on tour.

“I’m so excited to just after my show, go to front of house and sing all of his songs at the top of my lungs,” she said. “I’ve paid to go to so many Brad Paisley concerts, so the fact that I get to watch a free one for nine shows, I’m so excited.”

Alexandra Kay will return to the road on July 17 in Richmond Virginia alongside Paisley. The tour continues through August.

87-Year-Old Fan Plants A Kiss On Thomas Rhett During Her First-Ever Country Concert

Thomas Rhett created an unforgettable moment that the crowd, and one fan in particular, will never forget during a stop on his Better In Boots Tour. Following his headlining show at the PNV Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ, a new video surfaced online capturing the sweet moment Rhett made his way into the crowd mid-set to hug an 87-year-old fan in celebration of it being her very first country concert.

The heartwarming exchange that took place on July 10 quickly became the talk of the night and the internet.

The video that has since racked up over 45k views shows a woman holding up a bright yellow sign that read, “My mom is 87 years old and this is her first country concert.”  The message clearly caught Rhett’s attention because without hesitation, he jumped off stage and over the barricade to meet the fan behind the sign.

“I just want to hug you, can I hug you?” he can be heard asking in the following video.

Seconds later, Rhett was in the crowd giving the 87-year-old a warm embrace and she returned the love with a kiss on the cheek, causing fans around them to scream in excitement. The woman is seen beaming with joy, clearly overwhelmed in the best way, as the surrounding crowd cheers and smiles right along with her.

Her daughter, who helped make the moment happen, thanked all the kind fans around her with a round of high fives.

The user who posted the video praised Thomas Rhett for his kind gesture as she wrote, ” Another reason why I love @Thomas Rhett 🥹🫶🏼 It was an 87 year old women’s first country concert and he took a moment to come into the crowd to give her a hug! Such a memorable moment that she will never forget! Just look at the smile on her face, I can’t stop watching it🥹🥹🥹”

Rhett himself even chimed in, commenting simply: “My girl,” to which the user replied, “A night her, and I and everyone around us will never forget!!! Thank you!!!!❤️”

Fans flooded the comment section not only praising Rhett for the kind gesture but also applauding the crowd’s respect in stepping aside to let the dream-come-true moment unfold.

The woman’s daughter, who is responsible for bringing the sign that caught Rhett’s attention, later took to her own TikTok page to reflect on the unforgettable moment and share why it was so meaningful for both her and her mom.

First, she explained what occurred in the moments leading up to Thomas Rhett taking note of the sign.

“When I got there, I showed the people around me, they were like 20 and 30 something year olds. I loved everybody around me. It was so much fun. And so when he came out, everybody’s like, ‘put the sign up. Put the sign up.’ And I was like, ‘not yet. Not yet.’ So he came around a couple of times on our side. I was in third row, and I put it up and I don’t think he saw it. And then the one time that I put it up, everybody was pointing at me. and he saw it. His eyes got real wide so then I put it down, and then this was halfway into the concert sort of, he’s like, ‘where’s that girl with that sign?’ And I was like, oh my God. I put it up and he started reading it. And then that’s what ensued.”

She went on to admit that she never thought the “Beautiful As You” singer would have that kind of reaction, but his kindness ended up making her and her mom even bigger fans.

“That made my mom’s entire life, and I’m not even kidding. It made mine too. Thank you so much, Mr. Thomas Rhett. You are awesome. Big fan.”

This memory will be one the woman and her mom will never forget, and it also marked a full circle moment as she revealed her mom took her to her first-ever concert back in the day and she was proud to return the favor all these years later. In her final video reflecting on the events that took place, the user explained that they lost their father and husband back in 2020 and getting to meet Thomas Rhett was a moment of brightness in a long journey of grief.

“We have been struggling emotionally with the loss of him. Us being two girls living together on our own, it’s a struggle,” she shared honestly. “So if I can bring one moment of joy to someone in my family, especially my mom, I was going to do it and I succeeded. So thank you again, Thomas Rhett. Love you. Love you, love you.”
