Lainey Wilson Shares Sweet Update on Newlywed Life With Her Husband, Devlin ‘Duck’ Hodges

It’s been a little over four months since Lainey Wilson and Devlin “Duck” Hodges tied the knot and according to the songstress, married life has been everything she could have hoped for.

Wilson opened up about her days as a newlywed while backstage at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on Saturday, September 19. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she was asked what has surprised her most about being married.

“I hadn’t got rid of him yet,” she joked. “That probably surprises him.”

On a more serious note, Wilson confirmed that it has been “absolutely incredible” doing life with Hodges by her side as husband and wife.

“It just feels good. It feels like we’re just turning the page into this beautiful chapter. I mean, he’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I’m telling you, he’s a good man,” she added.

When the Entertainment Tonight described Hodges as a good “copilot,” Wilson quickly agreed.

“He is,” she said.

The Louisiana native and the former NFL player exchanged vows at Ruskin Cave in Dickson, Tennessee back in May. The couple celebrated surrounded by family, friends and several fellow country stars, including Luke Bryan, Ian Munsick, Lauren Alaina, Ella Langley, Miranda Lambert, Wynonna Judd, Ashland Craft, Drew Baldridge and Jelly Roll.

Their wedding came just over a year after Hodges proposed to Wilson in February 2025 on the doorstep of George Jones’ former estate in Franklin, Tennessee.

Now, Wilson is settling into married life while continuing to navigate her busy career. She recently performed at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Festival at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. During the award show, she paid tribute to the late Dolly Parton with a powerful performance of “WWDD,” a song she wrote for the country music icon that appeared on her 2021 project, Sayin’ What I’m Thinkin’,” as well as Parton’s hit, “9 To 5.”

While on stage, she described Parton as being “my hero,” and “the lady that I looked to for everything.

“They say never meet your heroes, but that did not count with Dolly Parton,” Wilson continued. “She was better than I could have ever imagined. … Let’s celebrate for Dolly Parton, y’all!”

Fans can catch Lainey Wilson at a slew of upcoming festival before she returns to Nashville to host the 60th Annual CMA Awards, airing live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, November 18, at 8/7c on ABC and Disney+.

This will mark her third consecutive year acting as host of the show and her second time taking on the role solo. Wilson previously shared hosting duties with Peyton Manning and Luke Bryan.

Wilson is also heading into the night a three-time nominee in the categories of Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year and Single of the year with “Somewhere Over Laredo.”

A Brawling Conundrum: Can NASCAR Encourage Passion While Not Condoning Fights?

NASCAR CEO Steve O’Donnell was clear when speaking about not penalizing Ryan Blaney and Carson Hocevar for their fight Saturday night at Bristol Motor Speedway. There would be no deduction in points and no fines issued. “We’re not going to encourage fighting, but what we are going to encourage is passion,” he said on “Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour” podcast Monday. So that begs the question: Is that possible? And what is the line where passion goes too far? It apparently isn’t with approaching another driver forcefully after a race, which is typical. And apparently a driver can throw a punch if he feels even slightly that he needs to protect himself. NASCAR is in a little bit of a tough position. Typically in sports, a punch warrants an ejection or — at minimum — a fine. Even in hockey, where it’s accepted and somewhat celebrated, players still have to do time in the penalty box. NASCAR, with its “Hell Yeah” marketing campaign and a swear jar contest, is trying to show that it isn’t apologizing for embracing its brand. That brand? It’s a rough-and-tumble contact sport with a foundation of grassroots, unbridled passion. The Hocevar-Blaney fight is going to be used to promote the Bristol night race for the next decade. If NASCAR penalizes the drivers and uses that very fight to promote the race, many people will consider the league to be hypocritical. NASCAR didn’t fine Ross Chastain in 2023 when he decked Noah Gragson after Gragson confronted him after a race. But Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has to wonder why he got a $75,000 fine for clocking Kyle Busch after the 2024 All-Star Race. NASCAR will say that wasn’t a punch delivered in the heat of passion, since it happened 70-80 minutes after Stenhouse was wrecked out of the event and Stenhouse was by Busch’s hauler afterward. As O’Donnell indicated, NASCAR would prefer a fist fight over drivers using their race cars as weapons. Back in the day, that might have worked, but with the speeds they carry now and the potential injury to drivers (and fans if parts fly in the stands), they can’t have demolition derbies. But as with everything, NASCAR needs to be careful. The league can’t have fights every race. It can’t have drivers throwing punches in hopes of selling more t-shirts later. Not saying Hocevar threw the punch with that intent but he’s likely profiting off his fists. If NASCAR puts a driver who fights on probation, would that make him a sitting duck to be decked the next time he angers a driver? If the fighting escalates, NASCAR needs to figure out a way to at least discourage the frequency of it. Maybe it could be as simple as losing pit selection or a little bit of practice time. Just a little something to at least indicate that NASCAR and its executives are not encouraging throwing punches. That would also send a message to any possible corporate sponsors who could be worried, while the drivers still get the benefit of selling more merchandise and increasing their fan bases.Latest Sports News from FOX Sports

Dolly Parton Banned All But One Person From Her Deathbed

Reading Time: 2 minutes

On August 25, Dolly Parton passed away after a brief, secret battle with cancer. She was 80.

Even in her final days, the late cultural treasure treasured her famous look.

She wanted everyone to remember her all “dolled” up.

However, Dolly made one exception, allowing this person to visit her at her deathbed.

Dolly Parton wanted to be remembered for how she lived, not how she died

According to a report from TMZ, Dolly Parton allowed only Cheryl Riddle to visit her on her deathbed.

Cheryl was Dolly’s longtime wig artist and makeup artist.

Because she did not want anyone to remember her in this state, she wanted Cheryl to work her magic.

This was important because Dolly had an open casket.

It sounds like Cheryl was a true artist to the very end.

Some of Dolly’s own family did not know that she had cancer.

Though her health struggles were public knowledge, dating back to late 2025, she kept the details to herself.

In July, many found Dolly’s full hair and makeup as she gushed about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s donation to be reassuring.

We now know that this was just the beloved icon being herself to the very end.

Reportedly, even Dolly’s siblings were not allowed to visit her on her deathbed.

But what about sharing the news of her passing?

There was, however, one family member who reports say was allowed to visit Dolly Parton, however briefly, at the end.

That was Bryan Seaver.

Bryan is her nephew. He was her longtime head of security.

For many, their introduction to him was when he announced Dolly’s passing on social media.

He was also abruptly fired, his companies dismissed from all parts of the estate, mere days ago.

During his visit, Dolly reportedly told him that she wanted him to be the one to announce her death.

Bryan went on to write and record this grim speech before recording it at her studio, releasing it upon her passing.

It sounds like Dolly could have had a massive, public memorial. Cheryl clearly did a good enough job on her wig and makeup to allow it.

However, that was not what she wanted. Per her wishes, she was laid to rest at a private funeral service and entombed beside her beloved husband, who died in March 2025.

We will always miss Dolly. But it is heartening to know that, in the end, she looked the way that she wanted.
