In celebration of his first-ever book, HEART LIFE MUSIC, Kenny Chesney kicked off a nationwide book tour, sharing the stories behind the project and the life and career moments that inspired it alongside co-author Holly Gleason. The Nashville stop brought him to the CMA Theater inside the Country Music Hall of Fame, where just weeks earlier, he had stood on that very stage for his official induction into the Hall of Fame.
During the discussion, Chesney reflected on the early days of his career, finding his own artistic voice when he stopped trying to mimic George Strait, and he also shared some of his favorite tour pranks along the way.
The East Tennessee native got candid at one point, recalling the moment he almost walked away from it all and why he felt drawn to record the song “The Life” during that pivotal moment.
“Leading up to 2009, I thought I was going to quit. I mean, I was really scared. My band didn’t know. My crew didn’t know. Nobody knew but me and that internal voice inside of you, he shared, candidly. “And so when I heard ‘The Life,’ I went, ‘Oh my God, that’s how I really feel in a lot of ways.’”
“The Life” tells the story of a man named Jose, whom the narrator meets while vacationing in Playa del Carmen. Jose lives a simple, fulfilling life just fishing, playing guitar, and spending time with his wife. Inspired by Jose’s story, the narrator reflects on his own life and realizes he’s just dying to “live like Jose” instead of constantly chasing the next rung on the corporate ladder. The message resonated deeply with Chesney, who at the time was living his dreams but running hard and constantly on the road.
The superstar, who recorded the song for his Lucky Old Sun album, explained that for him, authenticity is everything.
“I think that authenticity is the thing when you’re creating, especially because I don’t write every song. I really don’t. But finding commonality in people as a songwriter is one of the hardest things. And authenticity, because I feel like people, at the end of the day, are truly suckers for the truth. And that’s something that I’ve learned as an artist over the years and my audience for sure.”
Chesney also explained why he chooses his collaborations carefully and doesn’t record duets just for the sake of it, and it all comes back to authenticity.
“That’s why I don’t do a lot of duets. I mean, I’ve done several over the years, but I get asked a lot to do it. But that leans more into marketing than it does authenticity. A lot of people do duets now because it gives them… maybe a chance to get nominated at an award show. And that’s the only reason they do it,” he said. “Sometimes they don’t even sound good together. It’s just the marketing of it. But for me, that’s never worked.”
He went on to point out that the duets he has done, like with Grace Potter, Willie Nelson, or George Strait, have all been rooted in genuine connection.
“I’ve done more duets with Willie than I have with anybody, which makes me happy,” he declared.
Chesney closed out the final leg of his book tour with a string of appearances in Florida.
“Coming to see us at the stadiums, I totally understand. But you have to really love someone to come listen to them talk! All the laughter, the cheers and those moments of recognizing each other in the stories? It’s been a wild ride and incredible launch,” he shared.

Riley Green is set to honor U.S. service members with three special military performances scheduled for next spring across Japan and Hawaii.
Fittingly announced on Veteran’s Day, the country star will bring live music to sailors, service members, and their families for the following shows in 2026: Kanagawa, Japan at US Navy Base Fleet Yokosuka on March 9th, Naval Air Facility Atsugi on March 10th, and Hickman, Hawaii at Joint Base Pearl Harbor on March 22nd. These performances will be hosted by Navy MWR Entertainment and CAC or authorized base access will be required.
Green has always made it a point to share his pride and appreciation for veterans and active-duty military personnel. He’s done this, not only through his music, but also with the launch of the Buford Bonds Charitable Fund in 2023. This fund supports organizations such as Folds of Honor and other veteran-focused charities by raising awareness and contributions through events including the Buford Bonds Golf Tournament and the Folds Of Honor Rock ‘N Jock Celebrity Softball Game.
When sharing today’s announcement via social media, the Alabama native expressed how much it means to him to give back to service members in this way.
He wrote, “Honored to be able to perform for the heroic men and women of our nation next year at our U.S. Military bases in Japan and Hawaii. Happy Veterans Day to all who have served!”
The news of these military performances come shortly after Green revealed that he will be embarking on his 2026 headlining Cowboy As It Get Tour. This trek will take him to major cities and arenas across the U.S., including Nashville, Alpharetta, Cleveland, Saratoga Springs, Salt Lake City, and Hartford, among others.
Select dates will feature special guests such as Justin Moore, Drake White, Mackenzie Carpenter, Adam Hood, Hannah McFarland, and Zach John King.
Green is also scheduled to perform at next year’s Stagecoach Festival in Indio, CA.
This year has been a busy one for Green, to say the least. In the midst of his busy tour schedule, he released his latest project, Don’t Mind If I Do (Deluxe), an expanded edition of his acclaimed 2024 album that featured six new tracks.
Following this release, he racked up four CMA Award nominations including Single of the Year, Song of the Year, Music Video of the Year, and Musical Event of the Year. Fans can tune into the coveted award show on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 8/7c on ABC and next day on Hulu to find out if riley Green takes home any trophies this year.

With today being Veteran’s Day, Luke Combs felt that it was an appropriate time to revisit an unreleased tune called “Ever Mine.”
Co-written with Hailey Whitters and Charlie Worsham, the moving song is written as a letter from a soldier to his wife, capturing his uncertainty and longing while away at war. Combs originally introduced “Ever Mine” in 2020, but never officially released the track.
He celebrated the heavy yet important sentiment behind today’s holiday by once again sharing the emotional story. The North Carolina native’s smooth vocals glide above his acoustic guitar strums as he effortlessly captures the challenge of separation, the fear of the unknown, and the hope that love provides even in the darkest moments. Through the lyrics delivered from the soldier’s perspective, listeners are reminded of the sacrifices made by those serving our country as well as the power that love holds in our lives.
“My dearest darling/ I miss you more than words can tell/ I hope the garden’s growing tall,” Combs begins.
The chorus continues with the soldier hoping his other half is in “good spirits and good health” while back home and acknowledging that he’s unsure when or if he will ever return home to her.
Combs’ words once again carry immense weight as he sings, “Each day grows colder/ Filled with powder, smoke and steel/ I worry before it’s over/ I’ve forgotten how to feel/ I keep your picture in the pocket of my coat/ I sometimes find when I’m alone/ It’s my last bit of hope.”
He expanded on the song’s important message in his caption, writing, “In honor of Veterans Day tomorrow, here’s “Ever Mine.” We wrote this from the perspective of a soldier writing a letter to his wife during war without knowing if he’ll ever see her again. Love this one a lot.”
Fans willed the comment section, pleading with Combs to officially release the track, as it has already touched so many lives.
One user wrote, “We need this one released ASAP” while another said, “I can’t stop listening to this song!!! It’s been on repeat for like 7 times! 🤌🤌”
Luke Combs has been known to write songs from the heart that never fail to leave an emotional impact on his listeners, lately, as he’s entered into his chapter as a dad of two with one on the way, he has also leaned into that side of his life with powerful songs about parenthood.
The country star and his wife Nicole surprised fans in late September with the exciting news that they’re expecting their third child this winter. While answering a few questions regarding her pregnancy in a recent Instagram Q&A, Nicole explained they won’t be finding out the gender until the baby is born.
“If I could go back and not find out each time, I would,” she said. “We don’t care what we have, I know a lot of people say that but we truly don’t. Happy and healthy is always the goal.”
In addition to welcoming another child in the coming year, Combs is preparing to embark on a world tour that will take him across two continents and eight countries. He’s also teased a new album on the way, but has shared little details so far.
His My Kinda Saturday Night world tour is slated to launch in March of 2026.

Cody Johnson and his wife Brandi are officially parents of three! Over the weekend, the country star appeared on Country Countdown USA with Lon Helton, where he dropped the major news that they welcomed their first son, Jaycee Daniel Johnson, on October 21.
The couple has yet to formally share the news with fans via social media. Jaycee joins his older sisters Clara, 10, and Cori, 8.
Fans first learned that the lovebirds were expecting their third child back in May when they stepped onto the red carpet for the 60th Academy of Country Music Awards. While posing for photos in their elegant attire, it was clear that Brandi was showing off her growing baby bump.
At the time, Johnson told Cody Alan on SiriusXM’s The Highway that unveiling the surprise on the red carpet was all his idea.
“Jessie, my publicist, best publicist in the world. She’s like, ‘We need to figure out a way to release this.’ And I was like, ‘I think when she shows up at the ACMs and she looks like she’s smuggling a volleyball in her dress, it’s gonna be pretty obvious’… what better way to do it,” he explained.
That same night, the Texas native also revealed that they were expecting their first baby boy.
Before sharing their exciting news publicly, Brandi wanted to find the perfect way to tell her husband first. Johnson shared that she came up with a sweet and creative idea that was simple but memorable.
“So Brandi did this weird thing where she was like, she texted me, she ran to town and she’s like, ‘Hey, can you come out to the barn and help me unload my truck?’ And I was like, ‘Okay.’ Like, you know, I go out there and it’s this like little bitty box and I’m like, ‘You 100% could have done this yourself.’ And so I unload the box and she’s like, ‘Oh, and I do have one more thing in there if you can get that.’ And I’m like, ‘Okay.’ It’s this little bitty box,” Johnson recalled. “I unload it and I’m trying to figure out what’s going on. And she’s like, ‘Oh, by the way, here you can have this too.’ And it was a pregnancy test.”
After the initial shock settled in, Cody Johnson says his first thought was when they were going to let their girls in on the exciting news. Once they did, they immediately joined in on the anticipation of the upcoming arrival.
“I’m like, ‘Are we gonna tell the girls? Like, when do we tell them? Are we waiting?’ You know. And Clara, my oldest, we call her the cry police because if you ever like tear up over a movie or something, she’ll look you up and down. She’s like, ‘Are you crying?’…yeah, I was crying…And she burst into tears, happy though, ‘Oh my God, I’m gonna be a big sister.’ And then Cori does it too, so that’s awesome.”
He continued, “They’re all, they keep calling it our baby. ‘Well when our baby gets here, when our baby we are.’ And I’m like, ‘This is not a we, y’all are still kids.’ But then it hit me. I’ve built in babysitters. Clara’s 10, Cori’s 8. So like, this boy is screwed.”
This is a big moment in the singer/songwriter’s life because while he loves his role as a girl dad, he admits he has always wanted a little boy to introduce to the cowboy lifestyle as soon as possible.
Cody Johnson and his wife’s love story began back when they were teenagers. She was the one to notice him first back when he was still riding bulls. It took a few years before he noticed her back, but once they had their first meeting, their relationship timeline moved pretty quickly. They moved in together just a month after their first date and got engaged a year later. They’ve been married since 2008.
The “I’m Gonna Love You” singer was recently forced to cancel all remaining shows through the end of the year in order to heal from a surgery to repair a ruptured ear drum.
He is expected to return to the road sometime in 2026.
