Russell Dickerson Reveals The Text Luke Bryan Sent Him After Their Costco Run-In

You never know who you might bump into during a routine grocery run. For Russell Dickerson, that someone turned out to be fellow country star Luke Bryan. Earlier this week, the two of them unexpectedly crossed paths at Costco, a moment fans got to see thanks to a photo Bryan posted of them with their shopping carts in hand. Dickerson is now sharing the text exchange that followed this funny moment.

He explained to Country Now and other media outlets that he and his wife, Kailey, had left their two boys at home with their grandma while they set out to restock after the massive power outage that recently struck Nashville due to the ice storm.

Bryan, however, was on a solo trip to the grocery store. This was made clear by massive difference in each of their carts. While Dickerson and his other half had filled theirs to the very top with various items, the “Mind of a Country Boy” singer hilariously only had two items in his cart, which Kailey confirmed to be “exclusively steak and potatoes.”

In reference to the mountain of food Dickerson was purchasing, Bryan wrote, “Doing some #idol watch party shopping and ran into @russelldickerson. Looks like I should hit up his place instead…”

Dickerson then shared the post to his own Instagram stories and pointed out, “One of us was shopping with our wife…”

He goes on to say that after they snapped the photo, the two of them agreed not to publicly disclose their run-in. However, Luke Bryan later decide it was a moment that had to be shared with the world.

“He texted me was like, ‘Hey, can I post that picture with you?’ Alright, cool, bro,” Dickerson said, laughing about the message exchange.

While discussing their chance interaction with Bryan, Kailey joked that getting any time out of the house, but especially a Costco run, without the company of their kids, feels like a date to her.

“If he takes me to Target with no kids, I’m like, ‘This is amazing,’” she admitted.

When they returned home with their car full of groceries, the lovebirds were able to continue their “date” and take advantage of the sunny weather that has since defrosted Music City. Her mom graciously agreed to watch the kids a bit longer while they took a peaceful stroll together.

“We got back and there was still some time and it was a nice day. I was like, ‘Hey mom, are you cool to stay and we can just go for a walk?’”

Moments like these are a reminder of how meaningful even life’s simplest moments can be. While Kailey cherishes those everyday memories, she says their relationship and family life are also filled with plenty of adventure.

“If he was like, ‘Hey, I booked you a flight, pack a bag, I’m surprising you with something,’ I also wouldn’t be surprised by that. He’s very spontaneous,” she said of Russell Dickerson.

While both Dickerson and Bryan are gearing up for busy schedules filled with tour dates and potential new music in the year ahead, they still make time for everyday moments, like a simple grocery run.

George Birge Teams Up With Luke Bryan on New Single ‘Ride, Ride, Ride’ as It Goes Most-Added at Country Radio

Last summer, George Birge hit the road as support for Luke Bryan’s Country Song Came On Tour, and now the two have teamed up for a single that’s already making waves at country radio. “Ride, Ride, Ride,” co-written by Birge with Tyler Hubbard, Casey Brown, and Parker Welling, has just gone most-added at stations nationwide, marking a strong start for Birge’s first new music of 2026.

Produced by Casey Brown, the newly released track quickly caught Bryan’s attention with its modern country sound and gritty, heart-pounding narrative that dives into themes of loneliness and one’s desire to achieve the strength to face adversity rather than avoid it.

The song opens with Birge painting an intimate scene of a man at a bar trying to drown his troubles, only to be met by an older, wiser cowboy who shares some advice about enduring life’s toughest moments. As the two men get to talking, the cowboy shares simple yet profound wisdom that stems from personal experiences and the lessons he’s learned along the way. He essentially sends the message to keep moving, no matter how hard life hits and to always remember that you are stronger than you think you are.

As soon as the hard-hitting chorus hits, the lyrics “ride, ride, ride” transforms it into something uplifting and empowering.

“Ride, ride, ride/ When the clouds rollin’ in ’til the sun’s back again/ and you’ll find, find, find/ That what you’re made of is barbed wire tough/ Stare down the storm, you bring on the rain/ Life will throw you off boy, but saddle up anyway / And ride, ride, ride,” the pair of artists sing together.

They continue, trading off verses, allowing the five-time Entertainer of the Year award-winner to hone in on the idea that “we all got a cowboy inside.” This message means that no matter how many times you get pushed down, you have to get right back up and dig deep to find that “barbed wire tough” that everyone has inside them.

“Ride, Ride, Ride” can easily be described as a soul-stirring, backroads anthem for anyone who’s ever faced hardship and is seeking a dose of resilience and courage to help get them through it.

The new song arrived shortly after Birge stirred up excitement among fans across social media by teasing that he had a mystery collaborator joining him on a new song. Now that he has finally brought the collaboration to life, the Texas native reflects what it means to get to record with a superstar like Bryan.

“I’ve respected Luke Bryan’s career for a long time. It’s still crazy to me that I get to call him a mentor and a friend, and when I wrote this song, I knew I had to ask him to be a part of it. It’s an honor to share this one with him, and it’s a message I think a lot of people could use right now,” says Birge.

The “Love You, Miss You, Mean It” singer matched Birge’s excitement as he revealed he was immediately drawn to the track when Birge first played it for him after a show.

“George was on the road with me last year and we were catching up after a show one night. I asked him to play me a song and he played this one,” he recalled. “I loved the message and just thought he and the other writers had knocked it out of the park. The next morning he asked me if I wanted to be on the song with him and I honestly didn’t even hesitate. These are the kinds of moments that make me excited and I am proud to be a part of it.”

“Ride, Ride, Ride” follows George Birge’s September release, “My Bad,” and continues George Birge’s streak of fast-rising singles, including his No.1 hit, “Mind On You,” his second Country radio chart-topper “Cowboy Songs,” the Billboard Hot 100 hit, “It Won’t Be Long,” and his collaboration with Brantley Gilbert, “Small Forever.”

George Birge is now headlining his own COWBOY SONGS TOUR, which launched on January 22 and is set to continue through April, with a final three-night run across New York.
