Back in December, country duo Maddie & Tae announced they would be parting ways to focus on their own individual paths. As they wrap up a bittersweet final run of shows on the Love & Light Tour, the pair took a moment to reflect on the honest reason behind their decision.
A fan-captured video shows the pair of singer/songwriters looking out into their sea of fans in Roanoke Rapids, NC and feeling all the emotions of knowing this chapter is coming to an end. Maddie Marlow Font began by explaining that her musical partner for over a decade, Tae Dye Kerr, is choosing to put all of her focus into her life at home with her two kids, daughter Leighton (4) and son Chapel (1).
Meanwhile, Font, who is also a mom to her 2-year-old son Forrest, is going to start a new chapter and work on some solo music.

“[These are] The last shows for a while for us. T’s going to be a stay-at-home mama, but she’s ready. And then I’m making a little solo record,” she shared.
Kerr added, “We’re going to keep chasing babies and chasing dreams.”
They also reiterated that their breakup is not the result of any drama or bad blood between them. Instead, they have simply found that life is leading them at different directions.
“I say this every show. We really are just the worst band breakup of all time because there’s just no juicy drama and we still are hanging out at the park with our kids,” said Font.

Kerr joked that she wished there was “juicy drama” as it would have meant they had “a lot more exciting” things happening in their careers right now. At the end of the day, the pair best known for their breakout No. 1 hit “Girl In A Country Song” and their chart-topping single “Die From A Broken Heart,” felt this would be the best decision for both of them.
“We are truly just two best friends who have been doing this together for 15 years and people change and people evolve. I think one of my favorite things about our sisterhood was just always our friendship came first. And this is just one of those choices.”
They also previously told People that this might not be goodbye forever as they plan to leave things “open-ended.”
“We might make another record one day,” Font admitted. “We might go do some tour dates one day.”
“Absolutely,” Kerr agreed.
Even though they will continue to do life together outside of music, the singers made it clear this was not an easy conclusion to come to, and it took quite a few heartfelt conversations to get to this point.
“It’s been such a hard, hard—honestly, heartbreaking—decision,” Kerr shared. “This was the only dream I’ve ever had since I exited the womb. I had a very specific vision of creating music and singing music. When we met at 15, that’s what we set out to do, and we’re both just so grateful for the journey we’ve had. This career has been everything we ever wanted.”

Maddie & Tae first introduced themselves to the country music world in 2014 with “Girl In A Country Song,” which appeared on their 2015 debut album Start Here. The project also featured fan favorites like “Fly” and “Shut Up and Fish.” In 2020, “Die From A Broken Heart” became their second No. 1 hit.
Their most recent project, Love & Light, was released in May 2025. Just a few dates remain on their 2026 headline run, named after their latest album. It kicked off in St. Petersburg, FL on February 19 and will wrap up in Madison, WI on March 28.

In February, Ella Langley hit the road supporting Eric Church on his Free the Machine 2026 Tour. After wrapping up her few opening dates, she shared that she had given him a very special gift as a thank you for the opportunity.
This weekend, the songstress co-hosted Country Countdown U.S.A. with Lon Helton, where she shared that it wasn’t just any gift, it was something handpicked just for Church that she stumbled upon while on the hunt for some new antiques.
“I randomly got him a pocket watch at an antique store,” she revealed. “I gave it to him. It was like a pocket watch from the 20s, with a gold chain connected to a pocket knife.”

The best part of the gift was that it almost like it had been made for the country superstar. When she got it, she discovered that the back already had a letter “E” engraved on it.
“So that was cool,” Langley added.
Their time on the road together kicked off on February 5 in Omaha, NE, and spanned six stops, coming to an end with in back-to-back shows in New York on February 13 and 14. During the Buffalo, NY show, which kicked off her final weekend on the tour, the Alabama native joined Church on stage for a standout duet of Billy Joel’s “New York State of Mind.”
Videos of the performance quickly circulated online, with fans raving that Langley “crushed it” and leaving everyone eager and hopeful for more music from the country acts.

She also revealed that during a rare moment of down time on the trek, Church took the chance to offer her some wisdom on her rapidly rising career and how to stay grounded amid the chaos of the music industry.
“He told me, ‘When this thing gets weird, make it about the music.’ He said, ‘I’ll never make another ‘Chief.’ That was it. You get one ‘Chief,’ and that’s what it is.’ Then he’s on to the next thing.”
Langley is definitely making great strides with her music right now as her hit “Choosin’ Texas” recently made history. It claimed the No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making her the first woman to lead the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs, and Country Airplay charts simultaneously. It also rose to the top of the Mediabase Country Audience, Billboard Country Streaming Songs chart, Billboard Country Digital Song Sales chart, SiriusXM’s The Highway Hot 30 Countdown, and UK Country Radio.
Reflecting on the song’s success, she wrote, “I can’t thank y’all enough for what you’ve done with this song, it blows my mind every single day. Here’s to women & country music ♥️”

Fans are now eagerly awaiting the arrival of her new album, Dandelion, dropping April 10. Early releases like “Be Her,” “Choosin’ Texas” and the title track all offer a look into the upcoming collection.
Following her run with Church, Ella Langley has a short break before returning to the road in May to launch her 2026 headlining tour
“Be Her” arrives following the announcement of Langley’s new album, Dandelion, arriving April 10, and dates for her 2026 headline tour. Named after her new album, the 16-date trek continues through August.
