Gabby Barrett has written plenty of songs about her love for her husband Cade Foehner, but now the 26-year-old singer is exploring a side of their relationship deeper than ever before with her unreleased track “Young.”
Fans have seen the lovebirds’ relationship grow from the very start. They first met as contestants on American Idol in 2018 and just a year after their season came to a close, the two announced to the world that they were engaged. At the time they said “I do” on Oct. 5, 2019, Barrett was just 19 and Foehner was 21.
With their seventh anniversary approving this fall, Barrett decided it was finally time to touch on that chapter of her life and the realities of getting married at such a young age.
The tune finds her calling out all the people who had opinions about their decision, citing it was too soon to be that tied down and that they should enjoy being single a bit longer. However, it’s clear that they two of them did not see it that way and that to them, their love story was “Written in the stars.”
Barrett delicately strums her instrument and looks off into the distance as she sings the unreleased tune, “Young, everyone says we’re too young / Supposed to be single and dancing with strangers, waiting on tables / Just starting out, having fun…They say we should just take our time, slow it down / But I didn’t mean to need you like the air that I’m breathing / Baby, you didn’t plan on me now.”
She goes on to reiterate that they do not care about what others think, despite being called “crazy” at times.
“Hey, maybe we are / Yeah, we are,” she sings in response to that accusation. “‘Cause crazy’s how we love / It must be written in the stars / So, what if we are too young?”
In the Instagram caption that Barrett paired with the post she admits, “This wasn’t the ‘smart choice’” but goes on to add that “8 years later,” it all worked out for the best.
Foehner commented, “It’s the ride of a lifetime.”
Even back then the couple knew that this was the right path for them. During a conversation with PEOPLE in 2019, the Pennsylvania native expressed that she was confident in the fact that she had found her person and saw no point in waiting years down the road to make it official.
“It is a blessing to find a husband or wife in this life. Marriage is a profound and special thing, and we are so excited to finally be husband and wife,” she shared.
Fast forward to the present, Barrett and Foehner are now parents to three children: daughter Baylah May, 5, son Augustine Boone, 3, and daughter Ivy Josephine, 2.
In addition to raising their kids, Gabby Barrett has built a successful music career and is gearing up for even more new releases.

Country artist Ty Herndon is sharing his personal story in a newly released memoir, What Mattered Most, offering an inside look at his struggles with addiction, mental health, and identity.
The book details Herndon’s journey as one of country music’s first openly gay male artists, along with the challenges he faced behind the scenes of his decades-long career. It combines personal reflection with moments of humor, warmth, and insight.
“Writing ‘What Mattered Most’ has been one of the most vulnerable and rewarding experiences of my life,” Herndon said. “This book is my truth — the highs, the heartbreaks, the lessons and the love that have shaped me as a man, an artist and a survivor.”
Herndon first gained recognition as a member of The Tennessee River Boys, who later became known as Diamond Rio. After signing with Epic Records, he became a well-known name in 1995 with his chart-topping debut single “What Mattered Most,” the first of 17 Billboard hits. He went on to chart 17 singles throughout his career, including three No. 1 hits.
All the success for Herndon came with a heavy cost. Behind the spotlight, he wrestled with the pressure to conceal his identity in a traditionally conservative music world. In 2015, everything changed when he became one of the first major male country artists to come out as gay publicly.
Along the way experienced legal troubles, got married, found himself in secret relationships, and unfortunately relapsed in 2020. On New Year’s Day 2021, the Dove Award–winning artist hit a point that nearly ended his life, forcing him into intensive rehabilitation and to come face-to-face with the trauma he had carried for years.
Out of that struggle, a new clarity emerged. It first surfaced in the vulnerability of his song “God or the Gun” and now unfolds fully in What Mattered Most. The memoir chronicles Herndon’s personal battles along with celebrating his resilience, recovery, and the strength found in embracing one’s true self.
“For thirty years, I’ve told pieces of my story through my music – but this book has given me the chance to tell the whole truth,” Herndon added. “It’s about the journey, the struggles, the faith, and the people who shaped my life. I hope readers walk away knowing that no matter where you’ve been, you can still write a new chapter.”
Through all the trials and tribulations this chapter brought for him, he remained his most authentic self and now uses his story to advocate for others through his Foundation for Love & Acceptance.
“This book is my heart on the page,” he shared. “It’s about the boy I was, the man I became, and the grace that carried me through it all. If this story inspires even one person to keep going, then I’ve done my job.”

Two former The Voice winning country acts, Jake Hoot and sibling trio Girl Named Tom, returned for Season 29’s Battle of Champions to represent Kelly Clarkson in a special in-season all-star competition.
On Monday, April 6, the show began with the typical Knockouts round, which found each of the current contestants pairing up against another teammate and choosing their own songs to perform individually. After both singers perform, the coaches were tasked with choosing a winner, which left them with just three contestants to move forward with.
Then, yet another special twist was introduced. Keeping with the fresh format of the season, officially titled The Voice: Battle of Champions, there were no steals or saves allowed in this round. Instead, the first-ever three-coach lineup consisting of Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine and John Legend each selected two artists from previous seasons to compete for the chance to bring a second finalist in the finale.
Clarkson tapped into her country roots and welcomed back the only three-person winners of The Voice Season 21, Girl Named Tom, and Jake Hoot, who claimed the ultimate title on Season 17. To make this portion of the show even more special and nostalgic, all of the returning acts chose to sing songs that they had previously performed during their time on the show. Former coach and previous Mega Mentor, CeeLo Green, was asked to choose the winner of each sing-off.
The sibling group went head-to-head with Season 27 Finalist Renzo, coached by John Legend. They put their stunning harmonies on display with a delicate acoustic guitar-driven rendition of Kansas’ “Dust In The Wind” and ultimately took the win.
“Very excited about Jake Hoot, but also have just the greatest group to ever be on this show, girl named tom representing me,” Clarkson shared in a new Instagram video with the group.
Then it was time for Hoot to take the stage in competition with the show’s first-ever winner, Javier Colon, who was coached by Levine. Colon reprised his Blind Audition song, “Time After Time,” while Hoot delivered an Eagles classic, “Desperado.” Both acts provide why they were clear standouts in their respective seasons, but there could only be one winner.
“You’re gonna crush it,” she told him prior to taking the stage.
Hoot’s mid-tempo delivery that offered tremendous heart and showcased his authentic country vocals was enough to earn a standing ovation from Clarkson and win over Green’s vote.
This second win for Team Clarkson officially declared her the champion of the “In-Season All-Star Competition.” This accomplishment awards her the opportunity to bring an extra artist to the Finale.
The season continues next Monday, April 13, when things heat up with the Top 9 semi-finals and will culminate in the Top 4 finale. For the first time ever, a special voting block made up of super fans and past The Voice artists will join the in-studio audience. They will be tasked with casting real-time votes during the semi-finals and finale to help decide which hopefuls will ultimately be crowned The Voice.
