EXCLUSIVE: Lil Durk Shut Down As Judge Refuses To Disqualify Government Team

Lil Durk just took a major court loss after a federal judge rejected his attempt to remove the prosecutors handling his murder-for-hire case, shutting down his argument that the government’s leadership was unlawfully appointed and should be barred from overseeing his prosecution.

Durk’s request targeted Bilal A. Essayli, the First Assistant U.S. Attorney, who has been supervising the case. Durk claimed Essayli’s appointment as U.S. Attorney was improper and argued the issue was severe enough to dismiss the indictment entirely.

The judge disagreed.

In a new order, the court said Durk’s challenge failed for the same reasons courts in three other federal cases had already rejected nearly identical motions.

The filing shows the judge gave Durk a chance to explain why his situation should be treated differently, but Durk never submitted the required statement.

Because of that omission and because the other rulings were already final, the judge denied Durk’s motion outright and confirmed that Essayli “may continue to supervise Banks’ prosecution” without restriction.

The order makes clear that Durk’s indictment will not be dismissed and that nothing about the government’s leadership impedes the case from moving forward.

This loss lands while Durk is still trying to challenge prosecutors on other fronts.

He previously accused the government of hiding four threatening voicemails left for Magistrate Judge Patricia Donahue, messages referencing Durk and codefendant DeAndre Wilson by name.

The caller warned the judge to “do the right thing” while making violent statements and mimicking gunfire. Durk’s lawyers argued the threats should have triggered immediate disclosure and raised questions about neutrality.

Prosecutors countered that the calls were not severe enough to create bias, came from unknown outsiders, and did not require notifying the defense. They said the law treats such calls as attempts to influence the case, not grounds to disqualify anyone.

The court has now taken its strongest stance yet, making clear that the government’s leadership remains in place and that the prosecution remains intact.

Durk is facing charges tying him to an alleged murder-for-hire plot targeting Savannah rapper Quando Rondo.

Prosecutors say the plan grew out of the 2020 clash that left King Von dead and resulted in the killing of Lul Pab. That confrontation deepened a feud between the camps and forms the backdrop of the federal case now moving forward.

Kylie Jenner’s Skintight Christmas Look Has More Curves Than A Candy Cane

Kylie Jenner didn’t just show up for Christmas; she “sleighed” it, wrapped in a skintight red dress that looked poured-on, like melted candy cane gloss.

The look was pure holiday menace. Latex-shiny, fire-engine red, the dress hugged every curve and clung to her hips and backside so tightly it turned a quiet living room into a full-blown Christmas-after-dark scene.

Kylie angled her body just enough to let the light bounce off the fabric, putting her silhouette front and center and daring the camera to keep up.

She looked back over her shoulder with that practiced, unbothered stare, the kind that said she knew exactly what the dress was doing and had zero intention of fixing it.

Her long dark hair fell straight down her back, framing the open cut of the gown and guiding the eye right where she wanted it. The pose wasn’t loud. It was controlled. A slow burn. Weaponized calm.

A fireplace glowed behind her in one shot, but it was clear what actually heated the room. The glossy red fabric stretched clean across her curves, turning a classic holiday color into a full-scale flex. No ornaments were needed. No mistletoe was required. Kylie was the centerpiece.

This wasn’t a cozy Christmas. This was rich-girl winter, late-night energy where the dress did all the talking and the message stayed simple: Santa isn’t the only one delivering this year.

Maury Povich Reveals Plans To Mediate Drake, Kendrick, Nicki & Cardi Beef On TV

Maury Povich announced his willingness to come out of retirement to mediate Hip-Hop feuds using lie detector tests during his appearance on Sherri Shepherd’s talk show.

The legendary talk show host revealed his ambitious plan to tackle some of Hip-Hop’s biggest conflicts. “I would come out of retirement if I could get Nicki Minaj and Cardi B to settle their differences with lie detector tests,” Povich said during his Monday appearance on Sherri.

Povich didn’t stop with the female rap superstars. He also expressed interest in mediating the explosive feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar through primetime specials focused on settling rap disputes.

The timing couldn’t be more relevant. Nicki Minaj and Cardi B reignited their bitter rivalry earlier this year with social media attacks that escalated to personal insults involving their children.

Their conflict dates back to a physical altercation at a New York Fashion Week event in 2018.

Minaj has been particularly active in feuds recently. She’s clashed with SZA, Jay-Z and California Governor Gavin Newsom in recent months. Megan Thee Stallion addressed their alleged beef last year, telling Billboard that they still don’t understand what caused the problems.

Povich’s interest in Hip-Hop drama isn’t entirely new.

The show has had limited but memorable interactions with rap culture over the years. Lil Nas X made headlines in 2021 when he appeared on the show to confront his ex-boyfriend and the man’s wife about their relationship.

The connection between Povich and Hip-Hop got fresh attention recently when 50 Cent posted about running into the TV legend.

The rapper shared a photo with Maury Povich on social media, joking about paternity tests with his signature humor. The post went viral, prompting fans to speculate about potential collaborations.

View this post on Instagram

Drake was also pulled into Maury’s orbit in 2018, when Povich publicly invited the rapper to take a paternity test on his show after Pusha-T released the “The Story of Adidon” diss track.

Povich retired from his daily talk show in 2022 after decades of determining paternity and mediating family disputes.

His wife Connie Chung noted earlier this year that despite his reputation for paternity reveals, “he has a wider vocabulary than ‘you are the father’ and ‘you’re not the father.’”

The veteran broadcaster’s proposal comes as Hip-Hop feuds continue dominating headlines and social media conversations.

His lie detector approach could offer a unique way to resolve conflicts that often play out through diss tracks and online exchanges.

Nicki Minaj Comparisons Follow Rapper Trim, Causing Online Debates

In an era where virality can crown an artist overnight, Trim has surged into the spotlight with “Boat,” a record that has timelines buzzing and comment sections sharply divided.

Her sharp delivery, animated persona, and expressive mannerisms have sparked immediate comparisons to Nicki Minaj, reigniting a familiar internet debate about influence versus imitation. As her On The Radar performances continue to rack up views, Trim finds herself at the center of a broader cultural conversation—one that questions originality in Hip-Hop, how women rappers are allowed to evolve, and why success for newcomers so often comes with accusations rather than applause. Whether “Boat” signals the arrival of a new voice or reflects a lineage that Nicki helped popularize, one thing is undeniable: Trim has everyone paying attention.

View this post on Instagram

After watching Trim’s performance, there are moments where her cadence and flow echo Roman, one of Nicki Minaj’s most recognizable personas. Still, that influence alone does not amount to imitation. Even if Trim openly acknowledged Nicki Minaj as an inspiration, it would not diminish the catchiness or viral momentum of “Boat.” Instead, it highlights a recurring contradiction within the culture—artists are celebrated for innovation, yet scrutinized the moment their influences become visible.

Hip-Hop, like all genres, is built on lineage. Voices borrow cadence, attitude, and aesthetics from those who came before them to create something new. Nicki Minaj herself drew from the trailblazing women who preceded her, including Lil’ Kim. Beyoncé has long credited legends like Prince and Tina Turner as inspirations. Entire careers have been shaped by honoring what came before while pushing the sound forward. Inspiration has always been the engine of evolution. Yet for emerging artists—particularly women—homage is too often mislabeled as theft.

The real question, then, is not whether Trim has influences, but whether audiences will allow her the space to explore them without denying her the opportunity to grow into her own identity.

Beyond the comparisons, Trim displays a strong presence and confident writing ability that suggest real staying power. Much like Pluto and YK Niece breaking through this year with “Wham Whammie,” Trim feels positioned for a breakout moment of her own. With “Boat” gaining traction, 2026 could very well be her year.

Female rap continues to evolve, and there is more than enough room for fresh voices to rise and reshape the landscape. Trim’s emergence is not a threat to the past—it’s part of the genre’s ongoing story. If you haven’t tapped in yet, now would be a good time.

Chance The Rapper Surprised Chicago Kids With Bikes & Meals

Chance the Rapper brought holiday cheer and two wheels of freedom to a crowd of Chicago children on Monday (December 16) by giving away 100 bicycles during a festive event at Raising Cane’s in Chicago Ridge.

The Grammy winner teamed up with his nonprofit SocialWorks and the fast-food chain to distribute custom bikes and helmets to local kids, who also received meals and enjoyed live caroling as they tested their new rides in the parking lot.

“It’s a quintessential childhood gift, like everybody remembers their first bike,” Chance told the Chicago Sun-Times. “My dad taught me how to ride a bike and it was a big deal. It was like going through driving school, he was very intent on getting me to understand it and not giving up.”

The giveaway was part of a larger effort by Raising Cane’s, which donated 200 bikes in total—doubling last year’s contribution. Half were given out on Monday, while the other 100 had already been distributed at a warming center near a Green Line CTA station two days earlier.

Chance, a proud Chicago native, emphasized the importance of bikes as a symbol of independence for young people.

“Once you get your bike, it’s like a new level of independence that you reach and being able to decide where you’re going, like, transportation wise, as a kid,” he said.

When asked what he wants for Christmas, Chance didn’t hesitate: “I want peace and serenity and democracy and recognition of all countries and their people.”

Founded in 2016, SocialWorks focuses on empowering Chicago youth through education, the arts and civic engagement. The organization has funneled hundreds of thousands of dollars into local schools and community programs over the years.

The bike giveaway comes during a packed December for Chance, who also lent his voice to the Chicago Transit Authority’s “Enjoy the Ride” campaign. Riders across the city now hear his announcements echoing through train stations.

Next up, he’s slated to co-host “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” on December 31. The New Year’s gig follows the August 2025 release of his second studio album, Star Line.

Dionne Warwick At War In Doja Cat Royalty Sample Dispute Worth Millions

Dionne Warwick is stuck in a legal battle as the management company that negotiated her lucrative sample deal for Doja Cat’s massive hit “Paint the Town Red” demands millions in unpaid fees.

Artist Rights Enforcement Corp filed suit Monday, claiming the R&B legend is trying to dodge a 50% royalty split agreement that helped generate over $2.5 million in revenue. The lawsuit centers on Warwick’s 1964 classic “Walk on By,” which became the foundation for Doja Cat’s biggest commercial success to date.

“Paint the Town Red” dominated charts worldwide in 2023, spending three weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and becoming the first rap song to reach the top spot that year. The track broke Spotify streaming records, eventually surpassing 1 billion streams, making Doja Cat’s sixth song to reach the milestone.

Artist Rights Enforcement claims it has represented Dionne Warwick since 2002, “at great effort and expense,” on complex rights issues ranging from Doja Cat sample clearance to a prior lawsuit by Atlantic Records.

According to Billboard, the company alleges Warwick agreed to a perpetual 50% cut of recovered royalties in exchange for representation “at no cost to her.”

“After decades of service, Ms. Warwick is now trying to evade paying Artists Rights hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars,” the lawsuit states. “In doing so, she has violated her contracts with Artists Rights.”

The financial stakes are substantial, given “Paint the Town Red’s” commercial dominance. The song generated over 84 million streams worldwide in its peak week and maintained consistent streaming numbers throughout its chart run.

Doja Cat’s album Scarlet, anchored by the Warwick-sampling hit, debuted in the top 10 of the Billboard 200.

According to court documents, Artist Rights helped increase Warwick’s royalty distributions by a “sixty-fold” margin over the years, generating significant revenue from various enforcement efforts. The company handled matters involving SoundExchange, Sony Music tax issues and the high-profile 2023 sample clearance that made “Paint the Town Red” possible.

The lawsuit reveals that Warwick began expressing reluctance to continue making payments to Artist Rights, and that her lawyers allegedly sent a termination letter in September. Still, the company argues it fulfilled all contractual obligations while Warwick “wrongfully and unreasonably repudiated the contracts.”

Neither Doja Cat nor Atlantic Records was named as a defendant in the case. Representatives for Warwick have not responded to requests for comment about the legal action.

Artist Rights Enforcement seeks damages for breach of contract and demands that Warwick honor the perpetual royalty arrangement that facilitated one of 2023’s biggest musical successes.

Drake Dominated Spotify With 2025 Streaming Takeover

Drake shattered Spotify history in 2025 by setting the biggest streaming year ever for a rapper worldwide

Drake has officially rewritten the digital record books after logging more than 17.6 billion Spotify streams across all credits in 2025 marking the largest streaming year of all time for a rapper.

The achievement surpasses the benchmark he set himself in 2023 further extending a run that has defined the streaming era of Hip-Hop.

According to industry tracking the total includes Drake’s solo catalog featured appearances and collaborative records making the feat a reflection of both depth and reach.

Few artists have managed to dominate listener behavior so thoroughly without relying on a single breakout moment. Despite perception, Drake’s catalog continued to circulate globally from early classics to recent releases.

What makes the milestone stand out is that it was fueled largely by consistency rather than novelty. While many artists chase spikes tied to album drops Drake’s music continued to post massive numbers week after week.

Listeners returned to familiar records while new audiences discovered older songs at scale. That pattern has become a signature of his career and 2025 reinforced it on an unprecedented level.

The record also speaks to Drake’s adaptability within a rapidly changing music economy. Spotify playlists algorithmic discovery and international streaming growth have reshaped how artists build longevity.

Drake has mastered that ecosystem without abandoning his core sound or identity. His voice and perspective continue to resonate across generations markets and formats.

Industry observers note that surpassing a record he already owned places Drake in rare air.

For Hip-Hop, the moment reflects the genre’s continued dominance on global platforms. Drake has often been a barometer for where the culture meets commerce and this milestone reinforces that role. His success is not isolated but tied to how Hip-Hop now functions as the central engine of popular music worldwide.

As 2025 closes Drake’s latest achievement stands as both a personal milestone and an industry marker. The numbers tell a story of endurance relevance and control over a catalog that refuses to fade. For now the bar has been raised again and once more Drake is the one who set it.

Netflix Is Giving The Ultimate Gift On Christmas – Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg will bring Hip-Hop flair and holiday cheer to the NFL’s Christmas Day showdown between the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions, headlining Netflix’s halftime show at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

The Snoop Dogg performance, dubbed “Snoop’s Holiday Halftime Party,” follows last year’s blockbuster Beyoncé appearance, which drew 27 million viewers during Netflix’s first-ever Christmas Day NFL broadcast.

This year, the West Coast icon takes the spotlight with a festive set that promises music, energy and surprise guests.

“NFL, Netflix, and your uncle Snoop on Christmas Day?” he said. “We’re servin’ up music, love and good vibes for the whole world to enjoy. That’s the kind of holiday magic Santa can’t fit in a bag.”

Netflix has yet to reveal who will join the Long Beach legend on stage, but the streamer teased that special guests will appear during the live performance. The show will air during halftime of the 4:30 P.M. ET game between the Lions and Vikings.

Snoop’s latest booking adds another milestone to his already packed 2024.

He was named AllHipHop’s 2024 Person of the Year after his viral run as NBC’s Olympic correspondent in Paris.

His humorous commentary and torch-carrying moment during the Summer Games made waves across social media and helped cement his place as a pop culture fixture far beyond Hip-Hop.

Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, Bela Bajaria, said the company wanted to deliver something special to subscribers. “The ultimate gift we could give our members,” she said. “We’re ready to drop it like it’s hot this holiday celebration.”

Last year’s NFL Christmas debut on Netflix averaged 24 million viewers across two games. Beyoncé’s halftime performance during the Ravens-Texans game was later released as a standalone special titled “The Beyoncé Bowl.”

The streaming giant paid $150 million to secure the Christmas Day NFL rights as part of its broader push into live sports, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

This year’s doubleheader features Cowboys vs. Commanders at 1 P.M. ET, followed by Lions vs. Vikings at 4:30 P.M. ET.

Snoop’s halftime show airs live on December 25 during the second game of the day.

Kay Flock Had Mental Disability & Still Received 30 Years In Prison

Kay Flock stood before a Manhattan federal judge Tuesday (December 16) as his attorneys argued there was no way he masterminded a violent Bronx gang due to an “intellectual disability” that allegedly left him incapable of leading the Sev Side/DOA crew.

The 22-year-old drill rapper, born Kevin Perez, appeared in court for sentencing after a March conviction on racketeering conspiracy and weapons charges and was hit with a 30-year bid.

Prosecutors were pushing for a 50-year prison term, accusing him of directing a string of brutal shootings across the Bronx and upper Manhattan between 2020 and 2022.

In a sharp pivot, Flock’s legal team claimed he lacked the mental ability to control the gang, alleging another member “managed” him instead, which helped get 20 years shaved off what prosecutors were gunning for.

The defense’s argument, introduced during sentencing, sought to reduce the weight of the charges by challenging the notion that Flock was the crew’s ringleader. Federal prosecutors dismissed the claim outright, calling it a “transparent attempt to deflect responsibility.”

They insisted Flock “was the one leading the charge on the street,” pointing to his alleged role in a violent spree that left multiple victims injured or dead.

One of the most serious incidents tied to the case was the December 2021 killing of Hwascar Hernandez outside a Hamilton Heights barbershop.

While Flock was acquitted of that murder charge after his attorneys successfully argued self-defense, the government maintains he orchestrated a broader campaign of violence.

“Over the course of less than 18 months, [Kay Flock] and his fellow gang members engaged in a campaign of violence, deepening existing gang rivalries and instigating new feuds where none had previously existed. Dozens of people were shot at, injured, and even killed during this short period of time, due to the increased gang violence whipped up, in large part, by [Kay Flock],” Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael R. Herman said.

Following his partial legal win, Flock celebrated on Instagram, writing “I beat the top count” and claiming he “made the judge cry.”

Kay Flock gained notoriety in 2020 with his breakout drill track “PSA” and later collaborated with Cardi B, helping cement his place in New York’s drill movement.

But his rise in music has been overshadowed by his legal troubles.

Rick Ross Tried To Climb Mount Kilimanjaro & The Result Was “Renaissance Of A Boss”

Rick Ross is hitting the highway and the bookshelf with Renaissance of a Boss, a memoir-meets-manifesto set to drop May 12, 2026, via Hanover Square Press, chronicling his creative reboot and personal detours through fame, failure and psychedelic self-discovery.

The Hip-Hop heavyweight’s third literary effort follows a sprawling, soul-searching road trip that includes a failed attempt to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, a surreal mushroom trip that convinced him he was in Emancipation, and a sweat lodge ceremony in Santa Fe.

Along the way, Ross opens up about the artistic burnout he hit as he neared 50 and the 20th anniversary of his breakout single “Hustlin’.”

“This isn’t just a book; it’s a manual for greatness,” Ross said. “I’m cutting out the noise and showing you that when you execute with precision, success is too easy.”

Titled Renaissance of a Boss: Notes from a Creative Awakening, the book was acquired by Hanover Square Press with world rights secured by Robert Guinsler at Sterling Lord Literistic. Grace Towery will handle editing duties.

The memoir is packed with behind-the-scenes stories about Ross’s collaborations with Dr. Dre, Bruno Mars and Bill Murray, as well as insights into how some of his biggest records came to life. Ross also shares advice on navigating creative slumps, staying original, and bouncing back from artistic misfires.

The book draws parallels between Ross’s creative process and that of Pablo Picasso, and includes reflections on how inspiration strikes and how to keep evolving when the world expects repetition.

Stops on Ross’s journey include Graceland in Memphis and Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, along with culinary and cultural pit stops that shaped his artistic outlook.

The trip, he says, reignited the spark that led to his upcoming album, also expected in 2026.

Ross, a New York Times bestselling author, previously released Hurricanes and The Perfect Day to Boss Up.

All eleven of his studio albums have charted on the Billboard 200, with five debuting at No. 1. He is also the founder of Maybach Music Group and has received nine Grammy nominations.

Renaissance of a Boss arrives May 12, 2026.
