Lauryn Hill Honors D’Angelo With Emotional Tribute After His Death From Cancer At 51

Lauryn Hill mourned the loss of D’Angelo with a deeply personal message following the announcement that the neo-soul trailblazer died from pancreatic cancer at age 51.

The Grammy-winning singer remembered her longtime collaborator with a heartfelt post on Instagram Tuesday night (October 14), calling him “a presence not of this world” and reflecting on the bond they shared through music.

“I regret not having more time with you,” Hill wrote. “Your undeniable beauty and talent were not of this world, and a presence not of this world needs protection in a world that covets light and the anointing of God.”

The two famously teamed up on “Nothing Even Matters,” a standout track from Hill’s 1998 debut album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. The song, which showcased their vocal chemistry, earned a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group.

Lauyrn Hill, D’Angelo – Nothing Even Matters

D’Angelo, born Michael Eugene Archer, rose to prominence in the mid-1990s with his debut album Brown Sugar, which helped define the neo-soul genre. His 2000 follow-up, Voodoo, won the Grammy for best R&B album and cemented his place as one of the most influential voices in modern soul.

After a lengthy hiatus, he returned in 2014 with Black Messiah, credited to D’Angelo and The Vanguard. The album won another Grammy for best R&B album, and the single “Really Love” took home the award for best R&B song.

Over the course of his career, D’Angelo earned four Grammy Awards from 14 nominations. His impact on R&B and soul music was profound, inspiring peers like Erykah Badu, Maxwell and Angie Stone, all of whom emerged from the same creative wave.

Hill’s tribute went beyond admiration, touching on D’Angelo’s influence on culture and identity. “You sir, moved us, stirred us, inspired and even intimidated others to action with your genius,” she wrote. “Thank you for being a beacon of light to a generation and beyond who had no remembrance of the legacy that preceded us.”

She also praised him for redefining masculinity in music. “You showed a unity of strength and sensitivity in Black manhood to a generation that only saw itself as having to be one or the other.”

Hill ended her message with a prayer for his peace and protection. “It is my earnest prayer that you are in peace, far away from selfishness, fear and/or controlling interests,” she wrote. “I Love you and I miss you. May God grant peace and shelter to your family, true friends and genuine appreciators, Brother, King.”

Tyler, The Creator Shuts Down Relationship Gossip With Brutal Clapback

Tyler, The Creator shut down speculation about his personal life on Tuesday after a post circulated online, implying the rapper was seen with a new romantic partner in New York City.

The footage showed Tyler walking through Manhattan alongside a man later identified as “Koopz.”

The pair were followed and filmed by an individual without their consent, prompting Tyler’s security to step in. Tyler, visibly annoyed, addressed the situation directly in the clip.

“I will pay for your lawsuit, bro,” Tyler said. “I’m loaded, I’m with all that.”

Akademiks reposted the video on Twitter with the caption: “Tyler the creator reportedly seen out with his new partner.”

That post didn’t sit well with Tyler, who fired back in a blunt message.

“B#### ass, 1. thats koopz aint no partner or nothing,” he wrote. “How did ur brain choose to make that up? 2. weird caption for engagement 3. ‘tyler leaving party for the screening of new movie hes apart of’ or ‘waste of space man follows tyler, words exchanged’, seems like it fits better.”

The Grammy winner has long been vocal about his desire for privacy, especially when it comes to his relationships.

The confrontation came just weeks after Tyler wrapped his Chromakopia World Tour, which ended in the Philippines.

During his final set, Tyler hinted at stepping away from the road for the foreseeable future.

“I’m excited to go home and think about if I’ll ever really tour again,” he told the crowd. “I can’t lie to y’all, I’m at that part of my life where, man, I’ve done enough. Let me go take a very, very, very long break.”

EXCLUSIVE: Rod Wave Alleges Bribes, Botched Shows & Breaches In Blistering Reply In Fight Over $27M

Rod Wave is pushing back hard in court, accusing concert promoter Grizzly Touring of bribery, mismanagement and contract violations in a heated dispute over $27 million tied to his 2024 “Last Lap” arena tour.

The Florida rapper filed a scathing legal response denying all liability and claiming Grizzly breached their agreement first. He alleges the promoter tried to coerce him into what he called “indentured servitude” through secret contract terms and failed tour logistics.

“Following a failed attempt by Grizzly’s parent company at bribing Rod Wave’s former agent with under-the-table payments to gain the exclusive right to Rod Wave’s next five tours, Grizzly’s lawsuit represents an improper effort to force Rod Wave to specifically perform a personal services contract for Grizzly against his will,” Rod Wave’s lawyer James G. Sammataro snarled.

At the center of the clash is a failed tour deal that Grizzly says left them holding the bag after Rod Wave canceled nine of 35 scheduled shows.

The promoter claims it advanced over $57 million to cover performance fees and production costs, only for the rapper to abandon nearly a third of the tour.

Grizzly asserts it guaranteed Rod Wave $40.25 million for the full tour and that he used a portion of the funds to purchase luxury properties and charter private flights.

The company is seeking damages, lost profits and a court order to block him from promoting future tours independently.

The promoter also accuses Rod Wave of violating an exclusivity clause by announcing new solo shows through his own company, Hit House Entertainment. Grizzly argues this move directly breached their agreement and undermined the tour.

Rod Wave’s legal team paints a different picture.

In his response, he claims Grizzly and its production partner, 360 Production, rescheduled shows without his approval, causing logistical chaos and damaging his brand. He says those decisions—not his actions—led to the tour’s collapse.

He also disputes the $27 million figure, arguing it’s inflated and not supported by the terms of their contract. According to his filing, he already earned nearly $30 million from the shows he completed and has no legal duty to return any unused advances.

Rod Wave further argues that the exclusivity and “right of first refusal” clauses are unenforceable under Florida law, especially since Grizzly allegedly failed to uphold its end of the deal.

The most serious allegation in his filing involves an alleged bribery attempt. Rod Wave claims Grizzly tried to insert unauthorized contract terms by offering his agent secret payments.

He says the maneuver failed, and the lawsuit is a retaliatory effort to trap him in a one-sided business arrangement.

He and Hit House Entertainment are now seeking to void the entire agreement and block any future obligations tied to the failed tour.

Man Sentenced To Prison After Dangerous Nail Attacks On Trump Voters

Bucks County Man Jailed for Politically Charged Harassment Campaign

Alaric Dalberg received a jail sentence in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, after admitting to a months-long campaign of harassment aimed at supporters of former President Donald Trump. The 64-year-old Yardley resident pleaded guilty to stalking, harassment, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct, and was sentenced Tuesday to serve between two and 23 months in the Bucks County Correctional Facility.

Dalberg’s sentence, handed down by Common Pleas Judge Wallace H. Bateman Jr., also includes 36 months of probation, a $1,000 fine, 100 hours of community service unrelated to politics and restitution to victims.

Nails in Driveways and Surveillance Footage

Between October 2024 and February 2025, Dalberg repeatedly targeted homes in Lower Makefield Township that displayed pro-Trump signs. He scattered nails and screws in driveways and, in one case, stalked a grocery store employee after a political argument.

Investigators used surveillance video and physical evidence to link Dalberg to the incidents. Police found a stash of nails in his vehicle. During questioning, Dalberg admitted to collecting the nails to target what he referred to as “Trumpers.”

Victims Describe Fear and Damage

One of the victims, Lisa Mason, said a mechanic warned her that a nail found in her tire could have caused a blowout on the highway. “It’s really sad that you have to wake up in the morning with a flashlight and look for nails and screws,” Mason told NBC10 Philadelphia.

Another victim, Sandra Liberato, said Dalberg followed her from her home to her workplace. Surveillance footage later captured him throwing debris near her car. Investigators matched his grocery store loyalty card to the time of the incident.

Liberato helped prosecutors build their case by collecting and labeling the nails and screws she discovered near her property.

Judge and Prosecutors Condemn the Behavior

Judge Bateman called Dalberg’s actions intentional and dangerous. “It was not an aberration,” he said. “Just because you disagree with their political views or personal views, do you decide to victimize them? It’s completely, unequivocally unacceptable to me.”

Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn also issued a statement condemning the politically motivated behavior. “People who think they are justified in engaging in criminal activity because the ends justify the means will have a dose of reality if they choose to engage in crimes in Bucks County,” she said. “It is plain and simple, we will not tolerate politically motivated violence or threats of violence, ever.”

Additional Penalties and Restrictions

Dalberg is prohibited from contacting the grocery store employee he targeted. His sentence also requires him to reimburse victims for any damage caused by his actions.

Dalberg waived his preliminary hearing and proceeded directly to Common Pleas Court. His sentencing comes amid a rise in politically motivated crimes following the 2024 presidential election.

He was sentenced on Tuesday.

Busta Rhymes Denies Assaulting Ex-Assistant Or Making Employee Unclog Toilet With Hand In Defamation Countersuit

Busta Rhymes has formally denied accusations of assault and workplace abuse made by a former assistant, calling the claims false and retaliatory in a newly filed defamation countersuit.

In a response filed today (October 13) in Brooklyn federal court, the Hip-Hop icon and his company, Starbus LLC, rejected all key allegations made by Dashiel Gables, a former assistant who sued earlier this year.

Gables claimed he was physically attacked, underpaid, and blacklisted after working for the rapper between July 2024 and January 2025.

Busta’s legal team acknowledged Gables’ employment and $1,500-per-week salary but denied any wrongdoing. The filing disputes Gables’ claim that Busta Rhymes punched him in a Brooklyn lobby in January 2025, stating the two were present but that the alleged assault never occurred.

Following the incident, Gables said he sought medical treatment for facial injuries and filed a police report. Busta Rhymes later turned himself in and was charged with third-degree assault.

Gables’ lawsuit seeks $6 to $7 million in damages for unpaid wages, emotional distress, and physical harm.

The response also challenges Gables’ claims of wage theft, arguing he was not legally classified as an employee and was paid appropriately under the law.

Busta’s attorneys filed a countersuit for defamation, accusing Gables of deliberately spreading false and damaging claims to media outlets and at a public press conference.

Gables described a hostile work environment that included verbal insults, physical intimidation, and degrading tasks unrelated to job duties.

Among the most disturbing claims is an incident where another assistant was allegedly forced to unclog a toilet with his bare hand after the rapper said it wasn’t cleaned properly – allegations the rapper flatly denies.

“The foregoing statements are statements of purported fact, not opinion or protected rhetorical hyperbole, and they are false. [Busta Rhymes] did not assault or batter Gables, did not ‘routinely assault’ or spit on employees, did not make the alleged threats, and did not commit the other wrongful acts asserted as facts by Gables,” Busta Rhymes’ attorney J. Patrick Butler wrote in the filing.

The countersuit argues that Gables’ statements were made with “actual malice” and have caused serious harm to the rap star’s reputation and business opportunities.

“At the time he made or caused the Publications, Gables knew the statements were false, or acted with reckless disregard for the truth, including by fabricating allegations of criminal conduct and violence, omitting exculpatory facts, and deliberately ignoring contrary evidence. At a minimum, Gables acted negligently in ascertaining the truth,” Butler added.

Busta Rhymes is seeking compensatory and punitive damages, reimbursement of legal fees, and a court-ordered retraction of the statements.

Eminem To Become A Pop Pop Again, Haile Jade Reacts To News

Eminem’s daughter Alaina Scott revealed she is expecting her first child with husband Matt Moeller, making the rap star a grandfather for the second time and expanding his growing family.

Scott shared the announcement on Sunday on Instagram, posting a series of images that included a “Baby Moeller” onesie and a surprise reveal at their under-construction home.

One photo showed Scott leading Moeller, blindfolded, into a room filled with gold “Baby M” balloons. Inside, she presented him with baby sneakers and a positive pregnancy test.

“For months, I’ve carried a tiny heartbeat inside me, one that has already changed mine in every possible way,” Scott wrote in her caption. “There’s something indescribable about knowing there’s a little life growing, dreaming, and becoming, all while you go about your day, whispering prayers and hopes only they can hear. I’ve never felt more grateful for this gift and to grow our family, something we’ve wanted for so long. Thank you God for this blessing. Baby M, we can’t wait to meet you, little one.”

A post shared by Alaina Marie (@alainamariescott)

Her sister Hailie Jade Scott quickly commented on the post, writing, “Sooo happy for you guys. Can’t wait to be this little one’s auntie & elliot is so excited to meet his cousin.”

The news comes just months after Hailie Jade welcomed her first child with husband Evan McClintock. Their son, Elliot Marshall McClintock, was born on March 14, 2025. His middle name pays tribute to his grandfather, whose full name is Marshall Mathers.

Alaina is the biological daughter of Dawn Scott, the twin sister of Eminem’s ex-wife, Kim Scott. Eminem adopted Alaina in the early 2000s after Dawn struggled with drug addiction. Dawn died in 2016 from a suspected overdose.

Eminem has often referred to Alaina as “Lainey” in his lyrics and has spoken publicly about raising her alongside his biological daughter Hailie and adopted child Stevie Laine.

In June 2023, Alaina married Moeller in a lavish ceremony that included an 80-foot aisle lined with thousands of white roses. Eminem walked her down the aisle during the flapper-themed celebration.

Eminem has consistently emphasized the importance of his children in interviews and songs. He has credited them as a major influence on his sobriety and career focus.

Both Alaina and Hailie Jade have kept relatively low profiles, occasionally sharing updates on social media but largely avoiding the spotlight that comes with their father’s fame.

New Bad Bunny Controversy Over “God Bless America” Has MAGA Seeing Red

Bad Bunny Remained Seated During Patriotic Song at Yankee Stadium

Bad Bunny stayed seated during “God Bless America” at Yankee Stadium on October 10, drawing political attention just months before his scheduled Super Bowl halftime performance.

The Puerto Rican rapper and global chart-topper was spotted during the Yankees’ home playoff game against the Toronto Blue Jays by baseball superfan Laurence Leavy, known as “Marlins Man.” Leavy, seated two spots away, posted about the moment on social media.

“Yes, Bad Bunny was sitting and did not stand during God Bless America,” Leavy wrote. “I don’t agree but it’s his right AS AN AMERICAN to so choose.”

Manager Declined Request to Stand

According to Leavy, he approached the artist’s team during the game and asked if Bad Bunny would consider standing. The manager declined, citing political reasons.

“Mad at Trump for saying he’s is Latin and not an American. He thinks Trump doesn’t know Puerto Rico is in USA,” Leavy posted, recounting the exchange.

Despite the disagreement, Leavy described the reggaeton star as respectful. “He is super nice and humble,” he added. “Wish him the best.”

Trump Criticized Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Role

The moment at Yankee Stadium comes as Bad Bunny faces criticism over his upcoming Super Bowl halftime show. Former President Donald Trump commented on the booking during a Newsmax interview, saying, “I never heard of him, I don’t know who he is, I don’t know why they’re doing it.”

The 31-year-old artist has been vocal about his political views and has previously altered his tour plans over concerns related to immigration enforcement. In an interview with Variety, he explained why he skipped U.S. cities during his tour.

“There was the issue of — like, f****** ICE could be outside (my concert),” he said. “And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.”

He suggested that people could travel to Puerto Rico or other countries to attend his shows.

Conservative Group Plans Alternative Halftime Show

The Super Bowl controversy has prompted a response from conservative organization Turning Point USA. The group announced it will host an “All American Halftime Show” during the NFL championship broadcast, promoting “faith, family and freedom” as a counter-program to Bad Bunny’s performance.

Bad Bunny addressed the backlash during a recent Saturday Night Live appearance, saying he was “very excited” about the upcoming show.

His decision not to stand during “God Bless America” adds to his ongoing efforts to highlight Puerto Rican identity and issues affecting the Latino community.

The Yankees hosted the Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium on October 10.

Man Tries To Put Out Martin Luther King’s Eternal Flame By Taking A Leak On It, Sent To Jail

A man in Atlanta tried to extinguish Martin Luther King Jr.’s Eternal Flame by urinating on it at the King Center in Atlanta and now faces a stack of criminal charges.

Officers arrested 26-year-old Brent Jones at 4:30 A.M. Saturday after responding to a trespassing call at the historic site on Auburn Avenue. Police say they found Jones urinating in the reflecting pool near the tomb of Dr. King and Coretta Scott King.

According to arrest warrants, Jones caused nearly $3,000 in damage. He “began damaging the property further” when asked to leave “by urinating into the reflection pool at The King Center, where Dr. Martin Luther King and Ms. Coretta Scott King were laid to rest.”

Authorities say Jones didn’t stop there. He “also damaged the eternal flame at the location that is a memorial site for Dr. King Jr.” by urinating on it “to put it out.” Officers added that he was “stomping on the Eternal Flame, causing significant damage.”

The flame, which burns continuously, represents Dr. King’s vision of peace and equality. As described on the King Center’s website, it “symbolizes the continuing effort to realize Dr. King’s dream of the ‘Beloved Community.’”

The arrest report says Jones climbed into the flame’s pot and “stood in the pot damaging it” after ignoring orders to leave the restricted area. He also “proceeded to scatter the documents that were on the memorial podium for Dr. King Jr.”

Security tried to intervene, but Jones began attempting to fight the on-site guard. Once in handcuffs, he managed to slip out of his restraints and resisted officers during the arrest.

While in custody at the precinct, Jones allegedly “attempted to expose himself and urinate” again, leading to an additional public indecency charge.

He now faces charges including second-degree criminal damage to property, criminal trespass, public indecency and obstruction of law enforcement. He was booked into Fulton County Jail.

The King Center later described the incident as “minor,” without offering further comment on repairs or security changes.

This act follows another troubling incident in 2023 when a woman was arrested for allegedly trying to set fire to Dr. King’s birth home.

The King Center, a national landmark, draws thousands of visitors each year who come to honor the legacy of the civil rights icon and his wife.

Wendy Williams Slams Her $25K Living Facility As A “Dump”

Wendy Williams Criticized Her Assisted Living Facility

Wendy Williams didn’t hold back when describing her current living situation at Coterie Hudson Yards in Manhattan, calling the $25,800-per-month assisted living facility a “dump” in a phone interview with The Cut. The former daytime TV personality, 60, currently resides on the memory care floor of the upscale residence, which she says feels more like confinement than comfort.

“Did you see the people? The elderly people? Why do I want to look at that? This is a f—-d-up situation,” Williams said. “I can’t tell you how many times I’ve asked that I be moved from this floor.”

Despite the facility’s marble floors, fresh flowers, crystal chandeliers and private amenities, Williams said she’s unhappy and wants out.

Locked In and Cut Off

Williams has lived under court-appointed guardianship since 2022. Her current floor is secured, meaning she can’t leave without approval from both the facility and her guardian. She also has no access to a personal cell phone and can only make outbound calls from a landline.

After reportedly drinking heavily at the building’s penthouse restaurant during her birthday in July, Williams was relocated from a third-floor unit with large windows to the locked memory care floor. The new area lacks stoves, refrigerators and door locks for safety reasons. According to The Cut, the hallway smells like Febreze.

Health Diagnosis Disputed

In February, Williams’ team announced she had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and progressive aphasia. But she has denied the diagnosis and insists she remains mentally sharp.

Her attorney, Joe Tacopina, told TMZ, “She’s the same Wendy Williams that you know from TV. She’s a person who’s in control of her faculties and is a great human being.”

Tacopina strongly criticized the guardianship system, calling it “basically, incarceration.” He added, “This whole thing is about money, money, money, money,” and said the process was “despicably slow.”

Financial Moves and Legal Fallout

Documents show Williams’ estate pays for her guardian Sabrina Morrissey’s services, a $10,000 monthly retainer for her personal lawyer and various legal fees. In 2024, attorneys raised concerns about her finances after Morrissey sold her 2,400-square-foot condo at a loss and gave away her two cats.

Her ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, filed a $250 million lawsuit in June to end the guardianship, calling it “fraudulent bondage.” He also accused the presiding judge of being “crooked.” Hunter, who previously received $37,500 per month in alimony, saw those payments stop when the guardianship began. A judge dismissed his case on October 9, but he has the option to refile.

Williams and Hunter divorced in 2019 after she discovered he had a child with another woman during their 21-year marriage.

Public Appearances and Support

Despite her restricted living conditions, Williams has made a few appearances in public. She attended New York Fashion Week in September and told The Cut, “You know I’ve been out. So obviously I do go out.” She also attends a Brooklyn megachurch, which she said “gives me faith and keeps me very well in touch with God and myself.”

Her longtime friend Max Tucci, owner of the Manhattan restaurant Tucci, supported her claims about the facility. “This is, like, where billionaires send their grandmothers. But, you know, she doesn’t need it. Wendy doesn’t lie,” he said.

Son Speaks Out

Williams’ 25-year-old son, Kevin Hunter Jr., told The Cut he’s trying to stay out of the legal mess while focusing on his own life. “I’m really not trying to be too caught up in this. I’m trying to build, carve out my own path right now, away from everything. I just want her to get out of this. Because it’s not right,” he said.

Medical Review Pending

A new medical evaluation is expected in the coming weeks. Based on the findings, the judge could either maintain the current guardianship, ease restrictions, appoint a different guardian or end the arrangement altogether. However, sources close to the case say a full termination remains unlikely.
