Last week, we reported on cheating allegations surrounding Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini.

The New England Patriots coach and the NFL journalist — both of whom are married to other people — were spotted hugging and holding hands while they were both in Arizona for team meetings in March.

Now, Russini has stepped down from her job at the New York Times-owned sports media outlet The Athletic, and many are wondering if Vrabel will be next to resign from his post.

Russini reportedly issued her resignation on Tuesday afternoon.

But it’s important to note that in her statement on the subject, she did not admit to any wrongdoing.

“I have covered the NFL with professionalism and dedication throughout my career, and I stand behind every story I have ever published,” Russini wrote, per The Associated Press.

“When the Page Six item first appeared, The Athletic supported me unequivocally, expressed confidence in my work and pride in my journalism. For that I am grateful,” she continued.

“In the days that followed, unfortunately, commentators in various media have engaged in self-feeding speculation that is simply unmoored from the facts.

Russini insists that she is stepping down due to the “media frenzy” surrounding her case, and not because of any wrongdoing on her part.

“Moreover, this media frenzy is hurtling forward without regard for the review process The Athletic is trying to complete,” she said, adding:

“It continues to escalate, fueled by repeated leaks, and I have no interest in submitting to a public inquiry that has already caused far more damage than I am willing to accept.

“Rather than allowing this to continue, I have decided to step aside now — before my current contract expires on June 30. I do so not because I accept the narrative that has been constructed around this episode, but because I refuse to lend it further oxygen or to let it define me or my career.”

NBC Sports’ Pro Football Talk speculates that Russini may have made the decision to step down because she sensed that her contract would not be renewed either way.

We don’t know if that’s the case, but it is quite unusual to resign while maintaining that you’ve done nothing wrong,

Vrabel has yet to publicly respond to today’s events.

Following a hiatus of more than four years, Euphoria returned to HBO on Sunday night.

And in news that shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, the show’s third season is already generating controversy.

Specifically, viewers are taking issue with the storyline in which Sydney Sweeney’s Cassie becomes an OnlyFans model.

More specifically, they’re taking issue with the costumes that Cassie sports while filming her content.

She dresses as a dog at one point — which could obviously be interpreted as degrading — but we knew about that part from the season’s first trailer.

We got a glimpse of some of her other costumes in the promotional materials, but there was one get-up that no one expected:

In one scene that’s shown in preview clips for the upcoming episodes, Sydney is seen dressed up like a baby and sucking on a pacifier.

While her character might have been creating content that would appeal to a very specific fetish, on the show, the scene seems to be played for laughs.

Still, many viewers found the scene objectionable, and they were quick to

(Euphoria is on HBO, not Netflix, but we get the point.)

Others were quick to defend Sydney, pointing out that Euphoria has always pushed the envelope.

“You are shocked by a show that is all about sexual fetishes and deviant sexual preferences?” one viewer asked.

“Isn’t her character an OnlyFans model or something now?” another commented.

“Like, she didn’t volunteer for this. The writers did it,” a third remarked.

At the end of the day, Sydney Sweeney is no stranger to controversy, so we’re sure she’ll weather this storm just fine.

And it would be a new season of Euphoria without some sort of minor scandal.

As you’ve likely heard by now, Congressman Eric Swalwell has agreed to resign from office after multiple women have accused him of sexual misconduct.

But while the disgraced representative from California might avoid an Ethics Committee investigation by stepping down, he still faces the threat of looming criminal charges.

And now, a software company owner named Lonna Drewes has come forward to claim that Swalwell drugged and raped her in a hotel room in 2018.

“In 2018, while I was living and working as a model in Beverly Hills, and I also owned a fashion software company, I had contact with Eric Swalwell on three separate occasions,” Drewes said in a press conference held today in Beverly Hills (via The New York Post).

“After meeting, he offered me connections to further my software company, and I also had an interest in local politics,” she continued, adding:

“He invited me to two public events. I knew he was married at the time and that his wife was pregnant. He was my friend. On the third occasion, I believe he drugged my drink. I only had one glass of wine.

“We were supposed to go to a political event, and he said he needed to get paperwork from his hotel room.

“When I arrived at his hotel room, I was already incapacitated, and I couldn’t move my arms over my body. He raped me, and he choked me. And while he was choking me, I lost consciousness. I thought I died.”

Drewes says she intends to report the crime to the Los Angeles Police Department today, and she will provide texts and photos that she says will corroborate her story.

“I did not consent to any sexual activity, although I did not undergo a rape kit at the time, I disclosed the assault to the people closest to me,” she explained.

“I also recorded these events in my handwritten calendar. The assault and its impact were later documented during my therapy sessions at a sexual assault center in Connecticut,” Drewes continued, adding:

“It had a profound impact on my mental health. I self-medicated in an unhealthy way. I did not want to live anymore.

“I cried all the time for years. At the time, I was in a dating relationship with a boyfriend I was fully committed to.

“I’ve never cheated in my life, and I would never have engaged in a consensual sexual encounter. That reality further underscores the non-consensual nature of what occurred.”

Drewes says she came into contact with Swalwell due to her own political aspirations:

“It was a politically unusual, intense time in Beverly Hills, and I was considering a run for city council, which placed me in proximity to political figures and events, and added to the pressure to remain composed and silent,” she explained, adding:

“Eric was aware I owned a software company, and he spoke repeatedly about his ability to make introductions, referencing his political representation and influence there.

“I was not interested in him romantically, but I was interested in the business relationship and professional connections he offered to provide.”

As with other accusers, Drewes says she remained quiet for years out of fear of consequences:

“My delay in taking action against Eric was driven by fear, not doubt, fear of his political power, his background as an attorney, and his family law enforcement ties,” she said.

On Monday, an AI-generated photo of Donald Trump as Jesus Christ created a tremendous amount of controversy on social media.

Even some of Trump’s most outspoken critics were quick to call out what they saw as a post that was at best insensitive and at worst downright blasphemous.

One of those supporters was Riley Gaines, the competitive swimmer who transformed herself into a political commentator after losing to a trans woman in a race.

“Why? Seriously, I cannot understand why he’d post this. Is he looking for a response? Does he actually think this?” Gaines wrote on X (formerly Twitter) in response to the president’s tweet.

“Either way, two things are true. 1) a little humility would serve him well 2) God shall not be mocked.”

Of course, humility is not exactly Trump’s strong suit, and he responded to the criticism by expressing his disdain for Gaines:

“I didn’t listen to Riley Gaines. I’m not a big fan of Riley, actually,” Trump told CBS News this week.

Rather than keep the war of words going, Gaines furiously backpedaled and declared her undying love for Trump:

“At the end of the day, I do nothing for the approval of man. Our purpose on this earth is to glorify Him in all we do. The truth social post missed the mark. It’s now deleted. Amazing!

We’re imperfect people. I know I am. I don’t get my feelings hurt easy and I know with the President it’s really not personal. I want to spend eternity in a real place called Heaven. I’d love for Trump to be there too.

“Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. I’ll keep doing my part by speaking truth & doing my best to lead others to Christ.”

For obvious reasons, Gaines was brutally roasted for her abrupt change of heart.

“This is the one thing about MAGA that still genuinely confuses me; how they all think that they will be the One Special Follower who he won’t throw under the bus,” another added.

“Trump publicly humiliated Riley and her response is to stoop lower, kiss his feet. That’s the price of being in MAGA. You are not allowed to keep your dignity,” a third chimed in.

“A mass-murdering serial rapist and pedophile disrespected your religion and called you a loser, and your response is to bow down and kiss his feet,” a fourth wrote, adding:

“I hope you know people see that you literally stand for nothing if it takes away from your grift. Sold your soul for this.”

Needless to say, Riley has not responded to any of this criticism.

At this point, we assume she’s meeting with her team and trying to figure out how she can continue to make money as a MAGA influencer now that the head of the movement has publicly declared that she sucks.
