Donald Trump may have had something other than politics on his mind when he launched his first presidential campaign.
According to author Michael Wolff, Trump’s 2015 decision to run for the White House was largely about one thing: staying famous.
And Wolff says that assessment came from a rather infamous source.
In a new Substack column, the Trump biographer detailed conversations he had with Jeffrey Epstein about Trump, including the disgraced financier’s reaction when his former friend announced his presidential campaign.
At the time, Trump was still the star of The Apprentice. But according to Wolff, Epstein believed Trump was worried that his television career was beginning to fade.
“Epstein knew that Trump’s star turn on The Apprentice was fading and that he urgently needed a new platform for the promotion of Donald Trump,” Wolff wrote.
In other words, according to Wolff’s account, Trump wasn’t necessarily dreaming of becoming president.
Instead, he was looking for his next big platform.
Wolff claims Epstein believed Trump had always been primarily motivated by fame, money, and sex. And not in that order.
“Donald has never spent a moment in which being seen was not his main goal,” Wolff recalled Epstein telling him. “Money, sex, fame, it’s in that order.”
Wolff also claimed Epstein believed Trump’s fascination with former Presidents Bill Clinton and John F. Kennedy was connected to their reputations as powerful men who were almost as famous for their personal lives.
And while Epstein may have viewed Trump’s presidential campaign as another attempt to remain relevant, he apparently wasn’t amused by the prospect of Trump actually winning.
“You don’t understand, it’s Donald Trump. No shame. Do you understand how powerful that is?” Epstein allegedly told Wolff.
That concern apparently became even more significant after Trump won the 2016 election.
Wolff has previously described Epstein as being both fascinated and frightened by Trump. He also claims Epstein believed Trump had tipped off Palm Beach police about his activities, a claim that Trump has not acknowledged.
Trump and Epstein had been friends for years before their relationship deteriorated.
The Trump administration isn’t buying Wolff’s version of events.
White House spokesperson Lauren Bis called the author’s claims “lazy and false.”
She argued that Trump already had a successful television career when he entered politics and said he launched his campaign because he believed the country needed a change.
“President Trump declared his candidacy because he loves America,” Bis said (via Radar Online).
Trump has also maintained that he was never particularly close to Epstein and has said he cut ties with the convicted sex offender after Epstein’s 2008 conviction.
Still, Epstein’s relationship with Trump continues to generate controversy more than six years after his death.
And according to Wolff, the late financier had some very strong opinions about the man who would eventually become president.

The WNBA has been making more headlines than ever in recent months.
Unfortunately, most of the coverage has little to do with the players’ accomplishments on the court and much to do with various controversies pertaining to politics and social issues.
The latest drama began during a game — when Chicago Sky forward Dijonai Carrington was ejected after committing a flagrant foul against Sophie Cunningham of the Indiana Fever.
But it heated up on social media.
After she was ejected for giving Cunningham a forearm to the face, Carrington took to X (formerly Twitter) with a post that read simply, “WHITE PRIVILEGE.”
She also tagged Cunningham’s team.
The post didn’t sit well with many commentators and sports journalists, as Carrington’s ejection seemed appropriate, given the brutal nature of her foul.
One journalist who chastised Carrington was former NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho.
“The refs made the right call on DiJonai Carrington. There’s no white privilege involved in that specific call,” Acho said on his Speakeasy YouTube show on Monday.
The remark led Carrington to allege that Acho had misinterpreted her comments.
“I’ve never once claimed that the assessment of the foul was white privilege,” Carrington wrote on X, reposting a clip of former NFL star Emmanuel Acho discussing her response.
“Try exercising your critical thinking skills, I know you studied psych. Furthermore, I’m the LAST thing from ignorant or asinine when it comes to speaking on ‘white privilege’, do ya research on that one.”
Carrington, who graduated from Stanford, added, “I actually went to school, one of the top universities, might I add, to educate myself on this exact subject. I would never use that term as a rhetorical weapon knowing the historical and social weight it holds without having the proper evidence to substantiate it.”
The rebuttal lead to a sarcastic response from Acho.
“You are correct, DiJonai Carrington, my assumption, along with the majority of the sports world, was that you posting ‘white privilege’ immediately following being thrown out of a game for fouling somebody white was regarding the foul.
“But if the two things are somehow not connected, that’s on me. I’ll stand corrected,” Acho wrote on X, adding:
“However, America is a speaker oriented country, so the burden is on you for being clear, direct and easy to understand.”
For her part, Cunningham downplayed any racial bias, saying “there’s no reason to even play that card.”
She went on to dismiss Carrington’s hard foul as “her just trying to get attention.”
The grudge might resurface the next time Cunningham and Carrington face off on the court.
For now, it’s another WNBA scandal in a season that’s been loaded with them.

In recent years, there has been a lot of concern and discussion regarding Kate Beckinsale’s weight loss.
Like Ariana Grande and Kelly Osbourne, she appears to be dangerously thin.
Unlike those two beloved public figures, Beckinsale says that she can explain her alarmingly gaunt features.
The talented actress revealed her health condition. She then purged her social media, wiping the slate clean.
‘I receive an enormous amount of comments’
On Monday, August 10, Beckinsale shared a lengthy yet now-deleted post on her since-scrubbed Instagram account.
“As I’m sure you’re aware, anytime I post a photo of myself, I receive an enormous amount of comments,” she lamented.
Beckinsale wrote that these comments are “telling me how disgusting I look and I’m anorexic or I’m on meth or that I’ve lost so much weight.”
She even shared screenshots, sharing insight into how much she has fixated upon these comments.
The examples that Beckinsale cited accused her of using GLP-1 medications such as Ozempic and expressed overall concerns about her gaunt appearance.
“First off, I’ve lost my entire family, except my precious daughter, in a short amount of time,” Beckinsale wrote.
Both her mother and her stepfather passed away, back-to-back.
“The second thing is, I have a condition, which is an autoimmune condition called mast cell activation syndrome, and there’s another one called mast cell disease, and there’s mastocytosis,” she detailed.
“This is something that I was diagnosed with 16 years ago,” Beckinsale shared.
She recalled: “I was really, really lucky that I had an amazing GP in London who called it and sent me to, at that point, the one guy in the world in New Jersey who was the expert in that.” She called her stomach “ground zero” for her health issues.

Even so, one follower implored her to eat something.
“Having just made a several slides post about how eating could actually kill me this is a little beyond,” Beckinsale lamented.
She reminded her fans that they do not “know what’s going on in people’s lives,” even if social media makes it appear otherwise.
Additionally, Beckinsale advised that it is “not necessary for everyone to know your opinion on what somebody else’s body looks like.” Real.
“Treat people just how you’d like to be treated yourself, give people a little grace. If you don’t have anything nice to say, maybe don’t say anything,” she urged. “You don’t want to be the last straw for somebody, you don’t want to be the thing that makes them more sick, just keep going, it’s not hard.”
Later, Kate Beckinsale was provoked by another commenter into saying that she would “delete everything except for the books I recommend.”
She was not bluffing.
Her Instagram account is no more.
Beckinsale’s profile photo is now a graphic, which reads: “‘Honey, what do you want to be when you grow up?’ ‘A threat to the new world order.’”
While we hesitate to speculate on what Beckinsale means by that, we don’t believe that she’s some sort of QAnon or Illuminati conspiracy theorist. She seems very frustrated and we hope that she feels better soon.

Just weeks ago, Donald Trump ditched his $400 million Qatari jet for the old Air Force One.
At least, that’s what he claimed, oddly commenting that it was “for old time’s sake.”
The truth, it turns out, was that Trump sneaked out of Air Force One and left Turkey on a military craft.
He hid in a catering truck to make the switcheroo without the journalists and staffers still on the plane knowing.

In July, the NATO summit took place in Turkey.
Trump’s departure raised eyebrows because the expensive jet — a brazen symbol of the Trump regime’s corruption, albeit one of many — which he skipped using.
Despite his claims at the time that this was out of some sort of odd nostalgia, Trump quickly spilled that there were security concerns.
He called himself “number one” on Iran’s hit list, seemingly as a boast.
Now, the truth of how Trump departed from Turkey on July 8 has gotten much, much weirder.
Numerous outlets are reporting that Trump boarded Air Force One for the cameras as part of what was essentially a hoax.
He then slipped out of the plane and boarded a military aircraft.
Sensationally, Trump was able to sneak out of Air Force One by way of a catering truck.
Journalists and White House staff were both still aboard Air Force One.
None of the journalists and few of the staffers were aware of the sleight of hand.

It is all just so ridiculous
The shenanigan of cramming Trump into a catering vehicle to sneak him onto a different aircraft is just a few steps removed from something that you’d see on Scooby-Doo.
It does sound like something out of Veep.
Apparently this warning of an alleged plot came by way of Israel, which may cast doubt onto its veracity.
We are, after all, talking about a nation whose bloodthirsty regime has a vested interest in the United States attacking its enemies.
To be clear, there are alleged threats to Trump in the world. None of them seem to have panned out so far, but they exist. Maybe the Iran threat to fire a missile at his plane was legitimate, but nothing came of it.
We are now nearly halfway into August. It was in February when Trump first attacked Iran in a wave of bombings with no particular justification.
What has followed has been worldwide economic suffering, a gas crisis, a weakening of the US’ strategic petroleum reserve, a massive depletion of America’s missile capacity, and an erosion of what little trust remained with key allies.
Multiple times, a deal has seemed within reach. But America’s Mad King seems to be prolonging the war with the intention, critics say, of preserving his ego.
Unfortunately, this is a natural and inevitable consequence of electing unqualified despots who don’t really understand how anything works. Especially if they receive counsel from weird macho ideologues and notorious drunks.
The good news is that the catering truck story is a little source of humor in the unending hell in which we are all trapped.

On Monday, we reported on the news that Brad Pitt had started drinking again after seven years of sobriety.
The Oscar winner made the surprising confession during an interview with Esquire.
But it seems that the cat was out of the bag well before that, as Brad reportedly made no effort to conceal his booze consumption at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding.
According to a new report from Page Six, guests were “shocked” to see Brad drinking at the event, as he’s spoken publicly about his sobriety on several occasions.
Though he never detailed his reasons for getting clean, it’s been widely assumed that Pitt’s divorce from Angelina Jolie — and the allegation that he behaved abusively while drunk — played a major role.
The divorce continues to make headlines a decade later, as the A-listers are still battling over shared assets, including the French vineyard and winery they co-own.
News that Pitt is drinking again comes on the heels of a tumultuous few months in which all of Brad and Angelina’s children dropped his last name.
“I was sober for seven years. And then I got back off the wagon,” he confessed in the interview. “In a more restrained manner. I got overconfident a couple times, went, ‘Yep, nope, not good for me.’ Not in big quantities.”
Pitt explained he “can have a few” glasses of wine, but he “can’t have a lot.”
“I have to be professional about it,” he said.
Pitt first spoke publicly about his sobriety in a 2019 New York Times interview.
“I had taken things as far as I could take it, so I removed my drinking privilege,” he said at the time.
In 2020, Pitt publicly thanked Bradley Cooper for helping him quit drinking, and he spoke about his sobriety journey on Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast just last summer.
So the news that Pitt is drinking again came as a surprise to many. And his comments have led to widespread debate about exactly when he tumbled off the wagon.
It was widely assumed that he got sober amid his divorce, but Brad says he was only clean for seven years. So does that mean he’s been back on the sauce since 2023?

Back in the spring of 2025, Chrissy Metz lost 100 pounds.
At the time of this monumental body transformation, the This Is Us actress avoided giving an answer about Ozempic.
Now, however, she is admitting to being on a GLP-1 medication.
‘None of it really worked for me’
Speaking with People this week, Metz confessed to taking a GLP-1 medication.
“I’m not getting any younger,” she explained, citing that years of dieting were not effective.
“I’m in perimenopause,” Metz described, “and there were obesity issues within my family and with my father.”
Metz continued: “And I felt like I’ve tried so many modalities, whether it was diets or therapy, and none of it really worked for me.”
Most diets fail as the body adjusts. Bodies may struggle to store energy under the medicalized starvation that GLP-1 meds provide, however.
By the way, Metz sharing this wasn’t necessarily spontaneous.
She is partnered with a GLP-1 provider, Ro.
So when she calls her experience with the medication “great,” we should of course keep that in mind.
“It’s so nice not to be obsessing about what I’m going to have every minute, even as I’m still consuming the meal,” Metz expressed.
“I just vilified food for so long because I was taught that it was bad,” she admitted. “And you shouldn’t eat this or that.”
Critics are ‘not in my life’
Metz did acknowledge that “judgy” people might have disparaging things to say about her use of GLP-1 medication.
Many people may express concern over known and unknown side effects, or over the documented GLP-1 shortages for diabetes patients who actually need it.
But it sounds like Metz is thinking more of “haters” who think that taking a shot to starve yourself instead of starving yourself the old-fashioned way is “cheating.”
“It doesn’t matter, because like I always say, they’re not in my life,” Metz said of “judgy” people.
“They’re not in my doctor’s notes,” she continued. “They’re not in the hereditary issues my family has.”
Metz did clarify that she is also working with a trainer to build muscle.
She also claimed that she has not set a numerical goal weight.
“I’m just a regular old girl who is trying her best,” Metz characterized.
Back in April 2025, she was much more evasive about using GLP-1 use, declining to answer but commenting that she’s the sort of person who avoids taking Tylenol.
Just for the record, plenty of people who would happily take Tylenol within medically recommended doses would not go near GLP-1 unless they had a diabetes diagnosis.
