Back in October of 2023, beloved Friends star Matthew Perry drowned in his hot tub while under the influence of ketamine.
In the years since, several people close to the actor have been arrested and charged in connection with Perry’s death.
Today, saw yet another conviction, as Kenneth Iwamasa, Perry’s longtime live-in assistant, was sentenced to 41 months in prison for his role in the conspiracy tied to the actor’s fatal overdose.
According to People, Iwamasa was sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy charges connected to Perry’s death at age 54.
Prosecutors alleged that the assistant helped obtain ketamine for the iconic actor during the final weeks of his life and even administered injections despite having no medical training.
The sentencing marks another painful chapter in the legal fallout surrounding Perry’s sudden passing.
Perry was found unresponsive in the hot tub of his Los Angeles home on Oct. 28, 2023.
His death was later ruled an accident caused by the acute effects of ketamine, with drowning, coronary artery disease, and the effects of buprenorphine listed as contributing factors.
According to investigators, Iwamasa admitted to repeatedly injecting Perry with ketamine after helping facilitate access to the drug through a network of suppliers.
Court filings alleged that Perry had become increasingly dependent on ketamine treatments, which were designed to help curtail the substance abuse issues that had plagued him throughout his adult life.
Authorities claim that on the day Perry died, Iwamasa administered multiple injections to the actor, including one shortly before Perry was found dead.
The assistant later cooperated with investigators as prosecutors widened the case to include multiple defendants accused of profiting from Perry’s addiction struggles.
Perry had long been candid about his substance abuse struggles, famously detailing his years of addiction and recovery efforts in interviews and in his memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.
For millions of fans, he will forever be remembered as lovable fan favorite Chandler Bing, but behind the scenes, Perry was fighting battles far more painful than many realized.
Now, with another sentencing complete, the legal reckoning surrounding the actor’s death continues.

Back in November of 2025, the world was shocked by the brutal murder of Anna Kepner, the 18-year-old who was found dead in her cabin aboard a Carnival cruise ship.
In February, Kepner’s stepbrother, 16-year-old Timothy Hudson, was charged with her murder.
Prosecutors allege that Hudson raped Kepner before killing her and attempting to hide her body under a bed — circumstances that make today’s decision all the more surprising.
A federal judge ruled Wednesday that Hudson will not be jailed while awaiting trial and will instead remain in the custody of a family member under strict conditions as his case moves forward.
Hudson has been free since the death of his stepsister after initially being charged as a juvenile and released to live with his uncle because of his age.
The situation changed dramatically in April, when a federal grand jury indicted Hudson as an adult, raising the possibility that he could be detained behind bars before trial.
U.S. District Judge Edwin Torres acknowledged the gravity of the allegations but ultimately decided against jailing the teen ahead of his trial.
“If it were a 20-year-old under the exact circumstances I probably would have detained,” Torres said during Wednesday’s hearing, according to NBC News.
“The presumption would be we were just not going to take that chance. This is a different animal,” he added.
The judge explained that he considered the practical realities of detention, including the fact that Hudson’s family lives several hundred miles away in Hernando County, making visitation difficult if he were held in Miami-Dade County.
Federal prosecutors strongly objected to today’s decision.
Government attorney Alejandra Lopez argued that Hudson represents “a danger to the community,” especially considering that two minors reportedly live in the uncle’s home where he is currently staying.
“What is needed to prove a danger? A second dead body?” Lopez asked in court.
Hudson’s attorney, public defender Evan Kuhl, pushed back, arguing that the teen has followed every condition of his release for months and has shown no indication he poses a flight risk or danger to others.
Hudson is only allowed to leave the house while accompanied by his aunt or uncle and is being electronically monitored by authorities.
Anna and Hudson — whose parents married in December 2024 — had reportedly been sharing a cabin during the family vacation.
Her body was discovered bruised, wrapped in a blanket and hidden beneath a bed behind life vests. The Miami-Dade medical examiner ruled her death a homicide caused by “mechanical asphyxiation.”
On the day Hudson was indicted as an adult, Anna’s father, Chris Kepner, made his feelings painfully clear.
“Justice needs to be served,” he said.

She didn’t ‘know’ about the affair, despite subtle clues
During the Wednesday, May 27 episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, host Alex Cooper asked Gayle about her erstwhile marriage to William Bumpus.
Infidelity, they both acknowledged, was a major factor in the divorce.
“You know how they say ‘The wife always knows?’ I did not,” Gayle shared.
Instead, she discovered the betrayal when her flight had been canceled. She and both children headed home, accidentally setting off the alarm as they entered the house.
“He comes flying out of the room. He’s got a towel on and he goes, ‘You can’t come in,’” Gayle recalled.

“What do you mean I can’t come in? What are you talking about?” Gayle described herself as having asked.
At that, her erstwhile husband — wearing a towel — told her that “someone’s here.” Which is, as far as the words of cheating spouses, not the cleverest invention that we’ve heard.
“I start searching the house because I didn’t believe him. I didn’t believe him,” Gayle admitted.
“I get down and there she is, cowering behind the door in my towel,” she narrated. “It was a nice bath sheet.”
This was no stranger. This was her close friend, someone close enough to refer to her as her “aunt.” Not anymore, obviously.
‘I sounded so pitiful’
“I said, ‘I can’t believe that you are here and you are doing this,’” Gayle described.
She reflected: “I even said, ‘I thought we were friends.’ I sounded so pitiful.”
Unfortunately, Gayle’s humiliation increased. When the alarm was triggered and not immediately deactivated, the security company dispatched police to her home.
“The police came, and they said, ‘Hey, oh my God, it’s Gayle King!’” the broadcast journalist recalled.
As they asked for autographs, it did occur to her that she had more power here than the average housewife might. “I wanted to say, ‘Could you take out the trash?’ But I didn’t,” she admitted.
Gayle shared a couple of details of what followed — aside from the divorce, that is.
Her ex drove the woman to the train station, so that she could catch a ride back to her own husband. Yes, she was also married.
Gayle also called Oprah, venting to one of the most famous and influential people of the past half-century.
She and William divorced in 1993, after 11 years of marriage.
There is, however, a silver lining to all of this.
In a darker timeline, the world might have known her as iconic broadcast journalist Gayle Bumpus.

We have tragic news to report from the world of sports today.
Marc Johnson — the beloved skateboarder who helped establish the Bay Area as one of the major centers of the sport — has passed away.
He was just 49 years old.
News of Johnson’s passing comes courtesy of his friend and fellow skater Louie Barletta, who penned a lengthy social media post for Thrasher magazine.
“Marc Johnson passed away today. He was one of the most talented and creative people to ever step on or off a skateboard,” Barletta wrote, adding that Johnson visited him in San Jose just days before his death:
“He was sober, healthy, and full of life. We had a blast reminiscing about the old days. He seemed genuinely excited about the future. He even extended his ticket by a couple of days so he could explore some of the old haunts around San Jose,” Barletta recalled, adding:
“When it came time to drop him off at the airport, he handed me an envelope.
“I waited until I got home to open it. Inside was a three-page list of his hopes and dreams for the future. Never in a million years did I imagine that less than a month later, he would be gone.”
“I watched him achieve all his skateboard dreams, and I sat next to him at the Away Days premiere—only to later watch his career fall apart.
“I still don’t understand why my friend is gone at 49 years old. I don’t know why he chose to come visit me. Was there some bigger purpose to it, or was he looking for closure?
“Marc was a genius and a tortured soul. He told me he wanted to be remembered for his skateboarding, not for his failures or shortcomings.
Barletta went on to write that after a troubled youth, Johnson “made it out, traveled the world, and touched so many lives.”
“He gave opportunities to people who might never have had a chance otherwise,” Barletta concluded.

It’s no secret that Kate Gosselin is a dog-lover. At least, that’s the way that she sees it.
Critics would argue that she might not fully understand what it’s like to love and nurture unconditionally.
At any rate, one of her dogs died late last year.
In an emotional update, the disgraced former reality star is detailing the trials of adopting her newest dog.
‘It’s getting to be a lot’
On Tuesday, May 26, Gosselin took to her TikTok page to share a video in which she seemed to be emotional.
“I was just crying this morning,” she told viewers.
The video specified that this was the “day 12 update” on her recently adopted rescue dog, Koda.
“I’m tired,” Gosselin expressed. “It’s getting to be a lot, which makes me sound like a baby.”
She continued: “But the truth is, I’ve just been on watch constantly hoping nothing happens and watching them all the time.”
Gosselin had already adopted Meika, Koda’s sibling. Both are Belgian Malinois mixes. She is now seeking to integrate Koda into the household.
The disgraced former reality TV star explained that it has been “a lot” trying to manage the schedules of both dogs.
“Koda is a humongous personality,” she described.
“She is now very obsessed with her ball, equally as Meika, and she could run forever,” Gosselin listed.
“[Koda] destroyed a rug yesterday and she tried to destroy — this makes me cry — Nanuq’s bed that used to be Shoka’s,” Gosselin said of her late German Shepherds.
‘That would really break my heart’
“It’s our favorite bed. I’ve had it for 15 plus years or more … and it’s very special to me,” Gosselin expressed.
“[Koda] sleeps on it at night. It’s the bed we keep in our room. That really upset me. That would really break my heart. And I know that things get destroyed.”
Gosselin complained that the “pressure” and “strain and stress” have been “weighing on” her.
On her and on her former bodyguard, current boyfriend Steve Neild.
All of the stress, Gosselin reported, had caused her to “doubt” herself.
“At the end of the day, probably no one else would have saved her,” Gosselin then claimed about her new dog.
“So, I know that we’re doing a good thing,” she continued.
Gosselin declared: “We just have to hang in.”
Considering the sort of parent to human beings that she has shown herself to be, it is sad — but not a surprise — that the same institutions that allowed her to be a parent to eight (eventually, just six) kids also allow her to adopt dogs.
It seems that Gosselin sees herself as almost a martyr for adopting these dogs. That seems consistent with how many critics have described her.
