HARDY is opening up about how becoming a girl dad has completely changed him.
Hours before he took the stage at CMA Fest for a performance at Nissan Stadium, HARDY joined us backstage where he gave us an update on his headlining COUNTRY! COUNTRY! TOUR! and the launch of his new McArthur lifestyle brand. During the conversation, he also reflected on how becoming a father has impacted his life in a major way.
HARDY explained that, like many first-time dads, he once imagined having a son, but everything shifted when his daughter Rosie arrived.
“It’s funny, before we knew the gender, obviously most men I think go, especially their firstborn, they anticipate a son, but I can honestly say like having a little baby girl has been the most amazing thing in the world,” he shared. “They’re just so precious and it’s taught me to be gentle and patient. I’m still working on that. My wife is over [there], she’s crying actually, but there’s just something about having a baby girl that does change you and it just changes the way that you behave around them.”
While he says he may feel the same way if they ever have a son in the future, he admits he feels especially protective over his baby girl.
“I just feel like I am like her protector and that I don’t ever want her to, this is so sad, but just I want her world to be perfect all the time because she deserves that, because of the joy that she’s brought me and my wife,” he sweetly added.
HARDY and his wife Caleigh often share glimpses of baby Rosie on social media, and according to him, the joy fans see online is exactly what life is like at home.
“I’m not kidding though, that smiley, that’s not just Instagram stuff. She is like that all the time. 95% of the time. She has like a witching hour around like 50 PM, 5:30. But other than that, she wakes up smiling. I mean, she is a perfect, perfect. And she’s like a kid now. She’s 15 months, so she’s like running around and you can kind Of talk to her already, which is so crazy.”
The country star and his wife welcomed their daughter, Rosie Ryan Hardy, on March 7, 2025. She weighed 9 lbs., 2 oz. at birth. Fans can keep with the adorable family on Instagram by following Caleigh and HARDY.

Spain got its 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign back on track with an easy 4-0 win over Saudi Arabia on Sunday at Atlanta Stadium. Spain opened its tournament with a shock scoreless draw against Cape Verde that saw it enter the second match day with just one point. Now, Spain is in the driver’s seat in Group H with four points and four goals to its name. Here are four takeaways from the match: 1. Yamal Isn’t 100%. It Doesn’t Matter. Spain superstar Lamine Yamal got the start against Saudi Arabia on Sunday after coming on as a substitute in its opening match against Cape Verde. While it’s clear that the 18-year-old still has some rust to shake off after he missed the final weeks of the season with a torn left hamstring, he is such a difference-maker for Spain that, for now, it doesn’t matter. Yamal opened his World Cup account with a goal in his second-ever appearance at the tournament and his first-ever start. He is the eighth-youngest player to score at the World Cup, surpassing Lionel Messi with his 10th-minute goal. Yes, there were moments Yamal didn’t look like himself — three of his five shots on goal were off-target, and he only completed two of his six attempted crosses — but that’s expected to come with time. And if that time comes, Spain will be a tough team to beat. 2. Spain Is More Fun When Oyarzabal Shows Up Coming into the tournament, the No. 9 position was the biggest area of concern for Spain (as it has been since the days of David Villa and Fernando Torres), and Mikel Oyarzabal did nothing to dispel those concerns in Spain’s opening match, becoming the first player in recorded World Cup history to play the first 30 minutes of a match without touching the ball once. Maybe it was the strength of the opponent, but Oyarzabal looked like a completely different player — the one that Spain needs — against Saudi Arabia. He scored his first goal in the 21st minute after plucking the ball out of the air in a crowded area, and his second came just three minutes later on the opposite post, where he scored his first. Spain’s concerns up top are real, but Oyarzabal has proven he’s capable of being a source for goals under manager Luis de la Fuente. As long as he doesn’t lay another egg in this tournament, the surrounding noise should disappear in no time. 3. Rodri Is Back, But Is It For Good? Sunday was the first time that someone watching Spain would be able to tell that a recent Ballon d’Or winner was on its roster. Rodri was a maestro in the midfield against Saudi Arabia, completing 95% of his passes (113-of-119), including 100% of his long balls (6/6), and recovering the ball eight times. Rodri will see tougher opponents as the tournament goes on, with all due respect to Saudi Arabia, but if he can continue stacking these performances, building his confidence and improving his fitness, Spain can reach a level that not even the most optimistic of outlooks could have predicted. 4. Another Exit Looming For Saudi Arabia? Saudi Arabia’s 2022 World Cup was marked by an unbelievable upset win over Argentina, and its 2026 World Cup started with an impressive draw against Uruguay. But just like in 2022, one good showing might not be enough for Saudi Arabia. With its 4-0 loss to Spain, Saudi Arabia enters the final match day of the group stage with one point and an unfavorable goal differential. Gov. Josh Shapiro is quickly becoming the prospective 2028 presidential campaign field’s biggest World Cup fan.
On Monday, the Pennsylvania governor and potential presidential candidate is set to attend his second match of the tournament when he is in the stands at Lincoln Financial Field to see Iraq play France in Philadelphia, according to a spokesperson. He also attended Ivory Coast vs. Ecuador there a week ago with his wife Lori. Shapiro is also expected to hit the FIFA Fan Festival before the match.
Shapiro joins a growing list of 2028 hopefuls to take in the tournament. California Gov. Gavin Newsom, alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio, attended the U.S. opener against Paraguay. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. attended the American squad’s match against Australia. New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill, who hasn’t actively made moves toward a campaign but has carved out a leadership role in the party, attended the France vs. Senegal game at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
A number of potential 2028 candidates in states hosting games have not yet made the pilgrimage to a game: Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) hasn’t partaken of an East Rutherford match. Sens. Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock of Georgia, for example, have not attended matches at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta (Ossoff has said he has no interest in running for president), nor has Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.). Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) hasn’t taken in a match at either AT&T Stadium in Arlington or NRG Stadium in Houston.
Shapiro is known on local sports radio as “Josh from Juniata,” and is a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and 76ers. That fandom could help him build stronger relationships with voters. Philadelphia’s fan zone has drawn significant crowds.
Shapiro has also used host status to distribute 700 free tickets to Philadelphia community organizations. He said it was “really important” to him that it would happen when he landed matches.
“Governor Shapiro believes the FIFA World Cup is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that should benefit all Pennsylvanians,” his office said in a press release earlier this month, and “he is working to make the matches free and accessible to as many people as possible.”
The tickets are also an economic development tool: “As part of Visit PA’s sponsorship of Philadelphia Soccer 2026, the Commonwealth gains access to a mix of suite, VIP, and general admission tickets, which are being used to host business leaders, prospective partners, and other guests to further strengthen Pennsylvania’s economic development and promote the Commonwealth as the best place to visit, live, and do business,” a Shapiro spokesperson said.
More broadly, the politics of attending a FIFA World Cup game are tricky, says Eric Koch, a soccer fan and Democratic consultant based in New York City.
“In fairness the ticket prices are insane and the U.S. matches have all been on the West Coast so it’s hard for anyone to get out there — and AOC has been (rightfully!) basking in the Knicks win,” Koch said. “The U.S. loves a winner and this squad is not only super talented but is also on the cusp of really capturing the hearts of the whole country as we go to the knockout rounds so I expect we will see more candidates embracing them. It’s going to be a great unifying thing to rally behind.”
For Democrats in particular, embracing the World Cup could help them with two political projects, Koch said: embracing some kind of patriotism and relating more with voters, but it has to be an authentic effort.
“As with all things in politics, if it’s not authentic to you and what you’re about, it’s going to seem fake and forced and this applies extra to sports, which people have actual deep connections to,” Koch said. “The good thing is the USMNT can be everyone’s team and as the hype train builds I think we will see more pols embracing them.”
