Hayley Williams Shares Tribute to Ex-Husband Chad Gilbert: ‘I Will Forever Be …

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Hayley Williams is paying her respects to her late ex-husband.

On Sunday, September 20, New Found Glory guitarist Chad Gilbert passed away.

He was only 45.

Williams has found the words to pay tribute to the complicated man who influenced her and an entire genre of music.

Hayley Williams is paying her respects to her ex

Taking to her Instagram Story on Wednesday, September 23, Hayley Williams spoke about her ex-husband’s passing.

“Have not known what to say or if it’s appropriate,” the Paramore lead vocalist began the text post.

“But,” Williams continued, “I feel sure now that I want to [because] life is made of the paths we cross and the reasons we cross them are infinite.”

She affirmed: “Chad is indeed a legend in the scene.”

Williams continued: “And my time connected to him taught me a lot.”

“He introduced me to people that continue to shape my life in beautiful ways,” Williams wrote of her ex-husband.

“And,” she added, “to music and culture that has made life a lot richer.”

Continuing to speak of Gilbert, Williams acknowledged that “there isn’t much that hasn’t already been said about what contributed to the musical world a lot of us grew up in.”

She praised: “His influence and attitude guided the genre forward.”

Williams added: “His passion for fostering the community was inspiring and sticks with me.”

Her ‘love’ and ‘sympathies’ go to those central to his life in his final years

“I will forever be grateful that, from him, I gained a deeper understanding and a reverence for the community and the culture of hardcore,” Hayley Williams expressed in her tribute.

She is keenly aware that she is not the only one grieving him.

Williams sent her “love and my sympathies” to Gilbert’s family, to his New Found Glory bandmates, and to “all his friends.”

Gilbert is survived by his wife, Lisa Cimorelli, and their 5-year-old daughter, Lily.

All things considered, Williams did not have to leave such a generous and warm tribute to the ex who dated her when she was 18 and then cheated on her. But it is very kind that she did.

Chad Gilbert began dating Williams when she was in her late teens. They would remain in a relationship for about a decade before marrying.

Their 2016 marriage only lasted until 2017, however.

Gilbert remarried in 2020 to Cimorelli.

On Sunday, September 20, he passed away after a battle with brain cancer.

He’d had a cancer scare with his thyroid back in 2010, and had spent the past half-decade fighting for his life against a new cancer battle centered upon his brain.

Like Williams, our thoughts are with Gilbert’s loved ones at this time of grief.

Will Ole Miss Extend Streak? Can USC Top Oregon? Joel Klatt’s Week 4 CFB Picks

Ole Miss enters a pivotal Week 4 matchup and USC and Oregon go head-to-head for a Big Ten showdown. Week 4 is filled with multiple top-25 games and conference showdowns. After a thrilling win over LSU and coach Lane Kiffin, the Rebels hit the road for an SEC contest against Jon Sumrall and the Florida Gators. While the Gators recently joined the top 25, running back Jadan Baugh has something to prove in a chance to upset Ole Miss. As for the Ducks and the Trojans, the Ducks’ Week 3 loss to Oklahoma State makes its road trip to Los Angeles intriguing. Additionally, No. 1 Texas heads to No. 14 Tennessee for another top-25 conference showdown. In a hostile environment like Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, can Texas hang on to its No. 1 ranking with a win on the road? Here are FOX Sports’ Joel Klatt’s Week 4 picks: Spread: Texas -4.5Moneyline: Texas -198, Tennessee +164 Klatt’s thoughts: “This is a monster game … Home teams have been great in these big matchup-style games this year … It’s a thing. It is very difficult to go on the road and play well … it’s also the emotion that home teams can play with. We see this every week. Last year, Texas did not play well on the road … Home field matters, and I think this one matters. Arch has not lit it on fire this year … I know we all want him to be impressive because of his last name, but he’s got to take the next step, which is playing well on the road … I think Texas is much better at the line of scrimmage, specifically running the football, than a year ago. If that shows up for them in this game against Tennessee, then everything is going to be fine. “On the flip side, I think it’s a must for Tennessee. It’s vital for Tennessee. They’ve done a great job of it thus far. Running the football, protecting their young quarterback. Remember, Faizon Brandon is just a young pup in this game. This is going to be his first, real action of real, SEC-quality-level play … A Manning in Knoxville in Neyland, that’s always fun.” “I think Texas wins late…they win this game 30-27. I’m going to take the 4.5” Klatt’s straight-up pick: TexasKlatt’s pick against the spread: Tennessee +4.5 Spread: Michigan -5.5Moneyline: Michigan -218, Iowa +180 Klatt’s thoughts: “The winner of this game is set up for … this just feels like a low-scoring slug fest. Doesn’t it? It’s got to. Both defenses are very good, although they do it different ways, schematically. It’s hard for me to see how Iowa is going to throw the ball in this game. We saw how good Michigan’s defense can be, namely in that Oklahoma game … Can Iowa throw the football? I want you to pay attention to the tight end for Iowa. Because that’s the best matchup you are looking at the Michigan defense, I think it will be almost impossible to throw against those corners, they play with three of them. If you’re looking for the ways Iowa can not just run the football to succeed, but get the ball down the field, I think it’s got to be the tight end. The tight end matchup. Now for the Michigan offense, I think this is a really bad matchup for the Michigan offense. “I think Michigan wins 13-10, but Iowa takes the 4.5.” Klatt’s straight-up pick: MichiganKlatt’s pick against the spread: Iowa +5.5 Spread: Florida -3Moneyline: Florida -148, Ole Miss +124 Klatt’s thoughts: “This is the most interesting line so far of the season. I think Vegas is trying to tell us something. They’re trying to get bets even on both sides, and they know everyone’s going to be in on Ole Miss after that emotional win last week. Having played and covered the game my entire career, I don’t see a scenario where Ole Miss plays well. They were way too high emotionally — there’s got to be a comedown from what Ole Miss is going to give us this week. I think Vegas is trying to tell us that. The line hasn’t moved, by the way. “So you get an emotional letdown, a team that can run the football, and it’s at Florida. We know how tough it is to win on the road. With all that said, I can’t bet against Ole Miss. Everything in me wants to say this is a Florida win and they cover the 3.5. I think Florida’s up for most of the game, maybe by multiple possessions, and late, No. 6 Trinidad Chambliss throws a cape on his back and brings them all the way back. Because that’s what he does in the fourth quarter — go check out the numbers from our episode Monday, he’s exceptional. “I have to take Ole Miss. It’s going to be 21-3 at some point, and guess what — he’s still there. Ole Miss is going to steal it in the fourth quarter. It’s going to be 35-31 Ole Miss.” Klatt’s straight-up pick: Ole MissKlatt’s pick against the spread: Ole Miss +3 Spread: Oregon -3.5Moneyline: Oregon -166, USC +140 Klatt’s thoughts: “Was Oklahoma State an anomaly for Oregon, or cause for real concern about their program? I don’t think that’s a trend — I think Boise State is a lot better than we give them credit for, and Oregon actually came back and played fine against them. “Could we be worried about Oregon? That’s a possibility, but history suggests they’ve got more wins the last few years than almost anybody in college football. They get better every year, they’ve been in the top eight every year, they’ve been in the CFP every year, and they won the Big Ten championship. I don’t have that track record for Lincoln Riley and USC. “What I do know is USC plays really well at home. That’s a different team than when they have to travel 3,000 miles. Oregon does not play their best on the road either, they’ve won at Penn State, they were in a close game against Iowa, they lost at Washington a couple years ago, they struggled in a weird game at Wisconsin. So now they’re on the road in a place where Riley and USC normally play well. I’m concerned about some of USC’s injuries. “So which pattern wins out? Am I really worried about Oregon, or do I know under the surface this is probably USC? I think this is probably USC. We’ve got evidence this defense isn’t vastly improved. I know they got the pick-six against Rutgers, folks, but I don’t love it. “Oregon wins this 45-42, but I’m going to take USC on the points.” Klatt’s straight-up pick: OregonKlatt’s pick against the spread: USC +3.5 Spread: Georgia -13.5Moneyline: Georgia -575, Oklahoma +425 Klatt’s thoughts: “I think this is when we finally realize, yep, Oklahoma is not going to be that good. This is what we were concerned about in the offseason — they had Michigan, and if they lost that game, they had Georgia and Texas coming up, and this team is going to be 2-3. I don’t know if Georgia’s going to be all that explosive, but I’ve got an inkling this team is better than we all anticipated … They haven’t played anybody yet, but Oklahoma is struggling. “Last year I kept bringing up this concern for Oklahoma … This offense isn’t very good at all. Quarterback John Mateer has regressed. If they don’t get an explosive play, there’s no chance for them to move the ball down the field, and they’re not getting that explosive play against Georgia. “Georgia’s going to win this game. I think after this week, we’re going to look up and say, okay, Georgia’s very, very good. Georgia wins this 24-10, and they cover the 13.5. There’s no question in my mind, and Oklahoma is headed for 2-3” “Georgia wins this 24-10 and they cover the points.” Klatt’s straight-up pick: GeorgiaKlatt’s pick against the spread: Georgia -13.5 Spread: LSU -8.5Moneyline: LSU -340, Texas A&M +270 Klatt’s thoughts: “Both of these teams desperately need a victory. LSU is favored by 8.5, and they’re at home. I liked the fight LSU showed in the second half — that’s an easy game to fold up shop in, and they didn’t. The offensive line played well in the second half, and Sam Leavitt played better, although his play has got to improve. “Leavitt’s got to calm down — he and his opposing quarterback in this game, Marcel Reed, are both top three in the country in quarterback scrambles, and it’s way too quick with Leavitt. You can tell Lane’s telling him several times during the game, ‘Hey man, calm down, relax, get through your reads, know what you’re looking at.’ There are times it’s just snap, look, run, and when he runs and gets agitated in the pocket, he runs into contact. Not a recipe for success. That has to improve. “Meanwhile, I think A&M is off to a rough start … Texas A&M is 115th in the country in yards per play. They’re not gaining yards on the road in Baton Rouge against LSU’s defense. I don’t see it at all. I think OU and A&M are going to be prime examples of early top-10 teams falling outside the top 10, and maybe even outside the top 25. A&M was in there at one point, they lose to Kentucky, and I think they lose this game too. “LSU is favored by 8.5 and covers it, because A&M can’t play offense. LSU wins this one 31-14.” Klatt’s straight-up pick: LSUKlatt’s pick against the spread: LSU -8.5 Spread: Mississippi State -5.5Moneyline: Mississippi State -238, Missouri +195 Klatt’s thoughts: “The cowbells are going to be out for this one — Starkville’s going to be all lit up, and I love it. I really like QB Kamario Taylor. I think he’s excellent. I’ve talked about him now for a couple of weeks, and I think this is a huge moment for him. “Now, their defense, Zach Arnett’s defense for Mississippi State, went to that 3-3-5 look, which makes teams earn their way down the field … This isn’t a bad philosophical change. If you’re Mississippi State, make the opponent earn their way down the field and let your quarterback go play well. “Missouri didn’t play well last week against Troy. They were struggling. That’s a week after an emotional win over Kansas in the Border War, but they benefited from a couple of short fields off a punt return. “Mississippi State is favored by 5.5. I think they announce themselves here — I love the changes on defense, and Kamario Taylor is outstanding. I like Mississippi State in this game. I think they win this one 27-17 and cover the 5.5 at home.” Klatt’s straight-up pick: Mississippi StateKlatt’s pick against the spread: Mississippi State -5.5Latest Sports News from FOX Sports

Jonathan Taylor Thomas Accused of Kicking Police Officer In Stomach

Reading Time: 2 minutes

UPDATE: A police source now claims that Jonathan Taylor Thomas kicked a sheriff’s deputy in the stomach before his arrest.

The insider tells TMZ that Thomas was the passenger in a car that was blocking traffic, and he exited the vehicle despite warnings from officers not to do so.

Thomas allegedly struck one officer before being taken into custody on public intoxication charges.

Read on for our initial coverage of this shocking incident:

In the years since he retired from acting, Jonathan Taylor Thomas has mostly avoided the pitfalls that afflict so many former child stars.

But in the type of incident that’s become all too familiar, the Home Improvement actor and ex-teen heartthrob was detained by police this week.

Taylor was reportedly detained in California after allegedly refusing to follow instructions from law enforcement during a traffic stop.

According to multiple outlets, Thomas was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over Monday in Westlake Village, California.

At some point during the stop, the 45-year-old reportedly got out of the vehicle after deputies instructed him to remain inside.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Jonathan was “uncooperative” and resisted officers. He was also reportedly suspected of being publicly intoxicated.

Thomas was subsequently taken to the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station, where he was booked on suspicion of obstructing or resisting an officer.

Fortunately for the actor, his latest brush with the law was relatively brief.

JTT was released from custody a short time later, according to jail records. As of Wednesday, there was no indication that the incident had resulted in any more serious charges.

Jonathan has maintained a low profile since stepping away from acting, making his latest headline especially surprising for fans who remember him as one of the biggest teen stars of the 1990s.

Unlike many former child stars — including his former Home Improvement co-star Zachery Ty Bryan — Jonathan has managed to stay out of trouble.

He’s also stayed out of the spotlight, having apparently decided that Hollywood fame wasn’t for him.

He left Home Improvement before the series ended and later attended Columbia University. While he made occasional acting appearances, including several cameos on Tim Allen’s Last Man Standing, he largely kept his private life away from the public eye.

That low profile continued for years. Taylor has spotted only rarely, making a 2026 reunion with his former Home Improvement castmates something of a momumental event.

His onscreen mom, Patricia Richardson, recently shared a photo featuring Taylor and co-star Taran Noah Smith, giving fans a rare glimpse at the former sitcom brothers together again.

Now, Jonathan is back in the headlines for a very different reason.

There is currently no indication that he faces anything more serious than the reported resisting/obstructing allegation, and neither Jonathan nor a representative has publicly commented on the incident.

For someone who spent much of his adult life avoiding the Hollywood spotlight, JTT certainly found an unexpected way to step back into it.

We will have further updates on this developing story as new information becomes available.

Young men are swinging away hard from Republicans, pessimistic about economy, new poll finds

Republicans’ 2024 gains among young men have evaporated — and that could have instant ramifications this November, according to a new Cygnal poll.

President Donald Trump narrowly carried young men in 2024, according to exit polls, a big swing toward the GOP from past elections. But Democrats’ generic ballot lead among male likely voters ages 18-30 now sits at 57%-40%, according to the new survey.

Trump’s favorability is underwater at just 38%-55%, and Republicans’ net favorability among the demographic now sits at -9 points, with 40% viewing the party favorably and 49% unfavorably.

One silver lining for the GOP: Among all registered voters sampled, including those least likely to turn out in November, the Democratic generic ballot lead is much smaller, 44% to 41%.

“It is not a very good electorate, if you’re the Republican Party, among the people who are the most determined to vote,” said Alex Tarascio, pollster and principal at Cygnal, in an interview with POLITICO ahead of the poll’s release during Thursday’s Symposium on Young American Men.

Young men alone likely won’t determine control of Congress; they make up a fraction of the electorate, and they are less likely to vote than women of the same age or their older counterparts. But that lack of enthusiasm itself is a warning sign for Republicans, who will need to motivate their base ahead of November if they wish to maintain control of Congress.

The young men sampled are overwhelmingly concerned about cost-of-living issues — the same reason that many swung toward the GOP two years ago.

When given a list of options and asked which will matter most in determining their vote in November, a wide plurality — 29% — selected “inflation and the cost of living,” and another 14% chose “housing costs and being able to afford a place to live.” When asked what policies would make the biggest difference in their lives, the top answers again deal with the economy: The most-selected options were lowering the cost of goods, lowering housing costs and cutting taxes.

Many young men feel pessimistic about their ability to achieve success. When asked if they feel the rules in this country are set up to work for or against young men, 43% said they feel the rules are set up against them to 47% who said the rules are set up in their favor.

That pessimism bleeds into how they view other institutions. Both the Democratic Party (-1) and Republican Party (-9) have net-negative favorability among the demographic, and the White House’s current occupants are even more unpopular: Vice President JD Vance sits at 37% favorability with -10 net favorability, while Trump is at 38% favorability with -17 net.

“Young men are pretty down on institutions and political figures, and this one isn’t any exception to that,” Tarascio said.

Republicans successfully targeted young men and low-propensity voters in 2024 to help propel them to victory largely in part by having Trump sit for interviews with podcast hosts and influencers popular with young men. Trump has yet to return to those forums en masse ahead of the midterms, but he’s repeatedly told voters to pretend as if he’s on the ballot in November.

But Trump may no longer be the motivator he once was for turning out young, male, low-propensity voters. Among those surveyed who were least likely to vote, Trump’s net favorability is -22, lower than the respondents most likely to vote, where his net favorability is -19.

“If Trump gets in front of them, I don’t think it’s a bad bet, but for some of these people it could backfire,” Tarascio said.

The poll was conducted Sept. 15-18 with a sample of 800 registered male voters ages 18-30. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.46 percentage points.

Ree Drummond’s Son Jamar Goff Arrested After Allegedly Assaulting Police Officer

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Ree Drummond’s family is dealing with some very serious legal trouble.

The Pioneer Woman star’s 23-year-old foster son, Jamar Goff, was arrested in Alabama earlier this month and is facing several charges, including aggravated assault on a police officer.

According to court records reviewed by TMZ, Jamar was booked into Jefferson County Jail in Birmingham on September 15.

He was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, aggravated assault on a police officer, drug paraphernalia possession and attempting to elude an officer.

His bond was reportedly set at $37,000, and Jamar remained in custody as of the latest reports. It is unclear whether he has obtained an attorney.

According to court documents, an officer was called to the University of Alabama at Birmingham campus after receiving a report about a suspicious person.

The officer allegedly found Jamar sleeping shirtless near a fountain.

When officers woke him and asked what he was doing on campus, Jamar allegedly said he was waiting for someone to arrive and sell him “ice,” which the documents identify as another term for methamphetamine.

The situation escalated after officers allegedly discovered that Jamar had an outstanding warrant.

According to the court documents, Jamar then ran from police and eventually ended up at a nearby hospital.

It was there, authorities allege, that Jamar struck an officer with an open-handed palm strike.

Police also allegedly found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in Jamar’s possession.

This is not the first time that the Drummond family has encountered legal issues. Daughter Paige Drummond was arrested for public intoxication in 2019.

For Ree, this is undoubtedly a difficult development involving someone she has publicly described as an important member of her family.

Ree and her husband, Ladd Drummond, welcomed Jamar into their family as a foster son in 2018, after he became close with their sons through football.

Ree eventually opened up about Jamar publicly, explaining that the family initially wanted to give him privacy while he adjusted to his new home.

By 2020, however, she said Jamar had become an “inextricable part” of the family.

Ree has also shared loving tributes to Jamar on social media over the years, including a 2023 birthday post in which she wrote about her hopes for his future.

“I can’t wait to watch his future unfold,” she wrote at the time. “I know it will be filled with good things. I love you, Jamar!!”

For now, Jamar will have to deal with the serious allegations against him as the legal process moves forward.

Ree’s representatives have been contacted for comment but have not yet responded.

We will have further updates on this developing story as new information becomes available.
