If you ever doubted that Oprah Winfrey is a good and loyal friend, let this story disabuse you of that notion:
More than a decade after Whitney Houston’s tragic death, Oprah just shared a heartbreaking story that the public never knew about.
During an appearance at the Cannes Lions Festival this week, Oprah recalled a frightening moment from Houston’s final visit to The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2009.
According to the Queen of Daytime Talk, Whitney had already completed a powerful interview discussing her struggles with addiction and her hopes for the future.
But things took a troubling turn when it came time for the singer to perform.
Oprah revealed that Houston was sober when they conducted their backstage conversation before the interview.
By the time she returned to the stage to sing, however, Oprah says that had changed.
“The first interview I did with her when we’d gone behind stage and I asked about her intentions, she was clean,” Oprah recalled.
“But the day she came to my show to perform in front of the audience, she was not, and she fell off of the stage.”
The revelation stunned the audience at Cannes, as the incident was never reported at the time and remained a closely guarded secret for nearly 17 years.
Oprah explained that she immediately feared what would happen if images or videos of the fall became public.
Houston was attempting a comeback at the time, promoting her album I Look to You and openly discussing her past struggles with substance abuse.
“I knew that if that story got out that she’d fallen off the stage, that she would be completely destroyed by that,” Oprah said.
Despite the fact that audience members had cameras and could have easily shared photos, Oprah says she personally appealed to them not to do so.
“Even though the audience was there and the audience had cameras, I begged them not to put those pictures up because it would ruin her life, and they did not,” she said.
Oprah added that she doubts such a request would be honored in today’s social media landscape.
“That would not happen today, I can tell you that,” she said.
Yes, the world is a very different place in 2026, and we mostly mean that in a bad way.
These days, footage of Whitney’s stumble almost certainly would have wound up online, and the comments section would have immediately devolved into the most vile culture war nonsense.
Oprah’s compassion toward her troubled friend reminds us all of a time when Americans were generally far more empathetic than they are today — a time that we can hopefully return to someday soon.

After the inaugural race on Naval Base Coronado on a temporary street and tarmac course, NASCAR heads to its final road-course weekend. Some Cup drivers will be thankful and others will miss the opportunities these races afford them. But it’s also a time for those who might not thrive on road courses to show how much they’ve improved, like Bubba Wallace did with a second-place finish at Coronado. That allowed him to jump up on this list. The race winner, Corey Heim, isn’t running enough to be ranked here. Here are my power rankings following Coronado and heading into the event this weekend at Sonoma Raceway. Dropped out: Christopher Bell (Last Week: 7), William Byron (Last Week: 8) On the verge: Christopher Bell, Chase Briscoe, William Byron, Chase Elliott, Riley Herbst, Carson Hocevar Don’t look now, but Chastain has back-to-back top-10 finishes with an eighth at Pocono and a seventh at Coronado. It looks like he is finding some speed. Suárez finished 13th at Coronado. It was his seventh top-15 finish in his last eight races and he is now eighth in the series standings. Nothing flashy but steady. Jones didn’t have much speed at Coronado and still moved up one spot in the points to 14th, despite a 20th-place finish. He can’t complain too much considering he damaged the car in qualifying as he tried to find some speed. Not only did Wallace finish second on a road course, he did it coming back from two laps down following a penalty for a wheel coming off the car. He has two top-three finishes in his last three starts. Buescher has three consecutive top-10 finishes, placing a solid sixth at Coronado. And his future is set, as he has signed a contract extension at RFK Racing. Gibbs was 15th at the Coronado and remained fifth in the series standings. He needs to have a good Sonoma to start building momentum for the final two months of the regular season. Blaney earned his fifth consecutive top-10 finish with a ninth at Coronado. He is third in the series standings. Reddick got out-dueled by teammate Corey Heim over the final laps at Coronado while also doing what he felt was the right thing to do as he gave up a potential pass on Heim because he had gotten into him unintentionally. That contact resulted in a flat and Reddick finished a disappointing 25th. Larson is known for doing special things but he hasn’t been doing anything particularly special lately. He finished third at Coronado, his third consecutive top-five finish. Hamlin will take 14th on a road course, as he cut into Reddick’s points lead. He now trails Reddick by just eight points. If Reddick had out-dueled Heim, Reddick would be in this spot. But the margin of error is tiny, especially on road courses.Latest Sports News from FOX Sports
What started as another night in the crowd quickly became a moment this longtime Jelly Roll fan will never forget.
Lauryn has attended around seven of the country music superstar’s live shows over the past few years, but she has been listening to his music since 2017. Over the weekend she once again found her way to the very front row of his concert at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion in Gilford, NH and this time, Jelly Roll took notice.
He paused the entire set as soon as he spotted her familiar face in the audience and acknowledged her dedication.
“This lady right here, make sure she never buys a ticket to a show again. This is like the 6th show I’ve seen her at,” Jelly Roll said as he pointed her out.
While his comments may have initially sounded like a warning, Jelly Roll was actually rewarding the fan for her loyalty. After recognizing her from multiple stops on the tour, he promised she’d be able to attend any shows she wanted to in the future at no cost.
“You will never buy another ticket to my concert, ever,” he restated. “We will take care of that tonight. This is like the fifth time I’ve seen you on this tour. Thank you this is so awesome,” he told her.
The Tennessee native jokingly added that he would have to change up his set list just so that she doesn’t continue to hear the exact same show every time.

Following the heartfelt interaction, Lauryn tells Country Now that a security guard took down her contact information and later texted her details on how to contact the team before future shows and be added to the guest list.
“I honestly thought I was going to pass out. He is one of my favorite artists and I’ve been to a ton of shows of other artist and not a single one has done something like this,” she explained.
As if the moment wasn’t memorable enough, Jelly Roll also signed a poster she had brought with her to the concert, something she’d been hoping would happen after years of attending his shows. This experience carried an even deeper meaning for Lauryn as she believes it was a sign from her late friend who would have been attending all these concerts right by her side if she was still around today.
“People will call me crazy and it’s not for everyone, but I saw a medium a few months back, I did not tell her a single thing prior and she had said something about someone is always with me and it’s the person I used to do a whole bunch of things with (my best friend) she even brought up Jelly Roll in the reading,” she recalled.
Lauryn goes on to explain that while getting ready for the memorable Jelly Roll concert she decided to speak to her best friend who has passed on and asked for her help in achieving her goal for the night.
“I said to my best friend, ‘if you are going to be with me tonight help me get a signature’ that’s all I’ve been looking for for all these shows was his signature. He turned around and gave me these lifetime passes and still signed my poster.”
She added, “I feel as though J brings me closer to my best friend and she is forever missed and if she was here she would be at all these concerts with me.”
Jelly Roll’s Little Ass Shed Tour continues tonight (June 23) with a show in Syracuse, NY. In between his own tour and festival dates, the genre-bending star also has a few more shows with Post Malone as part of The Big Ass Stadium Tour Part 2.

This miserable saga doesn’t seem to end.
Just last month, Brandi Glanville revealed that her face is “sinking” again after she’d believed that she’d found the cure — and the culprit.
Now, she has found what could be either a symptom or a cause of her facial disfigurement.
The bad news is that it’s a tumor.
It’s a tumor ‘in one of my lymph nodes’
During a recent episode of her Unfiltered podcast, Brandi opened up about her diagnosis.
She shared that she has been diagnosed with a facial tumor.
Though Brandi’s tumor is thankfully benign, that is a technical term for its growth pattern — not for how it impacts her life.
In the wrong place, a benign tumor can be potentially fatal.
According to Brandi, the tumor has grown “in one of my lymph nodes in my face.”
The tumor may be playing a role in her ongoing facial disfigurement battle, which has now been going on for years.
“That could be why the fluid is going around my face,” Brandi suggested.
She desperately wishes to be able to go back to having a normal life. Well, normal for Brandi, anyway.
“I can wear makeup for, like, 15 minutes and then I have to take it off,” she then revealed.
Even if she is no longer experiencing tooth-destroying drainage (a symptom that we hope never returns),
‘I haven’t had a facelift yet’
According to Brandi, some doctors had previously dismissed what should have been a tumor diagnosis.
She said that they dismissed it as “just scar tissue.”
Brandi objected to that theory, asking what may be a very obvious question.
“From what?” she asked. “I haven’t had a facelift yet.”
Too many, it seems, have assumed that Brandi’s face is a “botched” cosmetic procedure. And she has paid the price.
Brandi explained that she only got this diagnosis when she saw a dermatologist who specializes in cancer.
She said that a blood test “came back” with the tumor results.
“It’s been a long three years,” Brandi lamented.
She added: “I just want to put a ton of makeup on again, get my hair extensions. I want to have a glow-up.”
We hope that she’s able to address all of her health issues. She deserves to live her life again.

Through the draft, free agency and trades, NFL teams have added players who they believe will bring them success in 2026. But who are the newcomers poised to make the largest impact on wins and losses for their squads? Here’s my top 15, in descending order: A perennial Pro Bowl fullback, Ricard will be integral in helping the Giants establish the physical brand of football that new head coach John Harbaugh wants. Ricard’s lead-blocking skills will clear rush lanes for dual-threat quarterback Jaxson Dart and a balanced running back room that gets Cam Skattebo back from injury. Tate, the No. 4 overall pick, has a good chance of being quarterback Cam Ward’s No. 1 wide receiver as a rookie, opening up a Titans pass game that struggled mightily last season. The Cowboys had the NFL’s worst pass defense a year ago. Enter Downs, selected No. 11 overall out of Ohio State, where he was a two-time All-American. From the nickelback position, Downs — touted as a generational safety prospect — is poised to make a massive difference in the back end with his communication skills, coverage IQ and sure tackling. In Moore, acquired from the Bears for a second-round pick, Josh Allen and the Bills get a bona fide No. 1 wide receiver for the first time since Stefon Diggs’ departure after the 2023 season. Buffalo hasn’t had a pass-catcher reach 900 yards over the past two years. With uncertainty at quarterback, the Cardinals’ offense could run through Love in 2026. Even with such talented pass-catchers as tight end Trey McBride and wide receivers Marvin Harrison Jr. and Michael Wilson, don’t be surprised to see the No. 4 overall pick surpass 1,000 rushing yards as a rookie. The Chiefs’ secondary underwent significant changes this offseason, highlighted by the blockbuster trade of CB Trent McDuffie to the Rams and the loss of Jaylen Watson in free agency. As a rookie, Delane, the No. 6 overall pick and an All-American out of LSU, will be expected to perform like a No. 1 cornerback. Linderbaum, a perennial Pro Bowl center for the Ravens, is expected to take significant pressure off quarterback Kirk Cousins (and eventually No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza) in reading defenses pre-snap at the line of scrimmage. His presence should also create more interior rush lanes for second-year running back Ashton Jeanty, who was frequently hit behind the line of scrimmage as a rookie. The Raiders signed Linderbaum for three years and $81 million, making him the highest-paid interior offensive lineman in NFL history. In McDuffie, a two-time All-Pro selection for Kansas City, the Rams now have a cornerback capable of taking a No. 1 receiver out of the game. Given the explosiveness of its offense, Los Angeles could be playing with the lead quite often in 2026, which makes McDuffie particularly valuable. The Rams sent four picks to the Chiefs for McDuffie, including a first-rounder in 2026. The former Notre Dame standout should immediately step in as RB1 for the reigning Super Bowl champion Seahawks, with Kenneth Walker III signing a free-agent deal with the Chiefs and top backup Zach Charbonnet recovering from a torn ACL. Waddle, acquired via trade in March, gives the Broncos a No. 1-caliber wide receiver and the explosive playmaking their offense has lacked. The speedy Waddle averaged 14.2 yards per reception last season, which would’ve led all Denver pass-catchers. The Ravens signed Hendrickson to a four-year, $112 million contract in March after backing out of a trade with the Raiders for Maxx Crosby. A double-digit sack threat, Hendrickson’s presence could elevate Baltimore’s defense to the elite status it had prior to last season. The pass-rush juice he provides should speed up the clock in the pocket for opposing quarterbacks, leading to more playmaking opportunities for Baltimore’s talented secondary. Beyond giving the Patriots a true No. 1 wide receiver, Brown — acquired from the Eagles for a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick — is a star who’s shown he’s capable of rising to the occasion in big moments. That’s something New England lacked in its run to the Super Bowl last season. The Pats didn’t have a pass-catcher reach 80 receiving yards in any of their four playoff games. Stefon Diggs, who was their leading receiver during the regular season, didn’t have a postseason appearance with more than 40 yards. Lawrence, the centerpiece of the Bengals’ defensive makeover this offseason, will make a significant impact on Cincinnati’s run defense, which ranked dead last in 2025 (147.1 rushing yards allowed/game). The Bengals gave up the No. 10 overall pick in the 2026 draft for the three-time Pro Bowler. If Murray plays to the Pro Bowl level we saw early in his career in Arizona, the Vikings will get more than a QB1 — they’ll have a player who can lead them back into contention in the NFC North. Plus, after the Cardinals released him, Murray is playing on a one-year, league-minimum deal worth $1.3 million. With Garrett in the fold, the Rams could have the NFL’s best defense by the end of the 2026 season. He’s that much of a force multiplier, making L.A. the heavy favorite to win the Super Bowl. And that’s why the Rams traded Pro Bowl edge Jared Verse and three draft picks to Cleveland for the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year. With the Rams’ explosive offense, it’s not difficult to envision a scenario where opposing offenses are scrambling for points late in games, providing many opportunities for Garrett to pin his ears back and get after quarterbacks.
