Ty Simpson: I Had ‘Secret Meetings’ With Los Angeles Rams, Coach Sean McVay

The Los Angeles Rams selecting Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Ty Simpson with the No. 13 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft was arguably the boldest selection of the draft, and according to the player himself, head coach Sean McVay has the utmost conviction in the young signal-caller. “We tried to keep this under wraps as long as we could,” Simpson said about his contact with the Rams in an interview on ESPN Radio on Monday. “It was something where I knew they were interested, but they wanted to make it private and didn’t want people to know that they were interested. “So, I had some secret meetings with Coach McVay, and I just was trying to be on script and do what everybody told me and not to tell anybody.” Well, those meetings aren’t so “secret” anymore, now are they, Ty? As for keeping their interest in Simpson “under wraps,” the Rams did precisely that, as they neither met with Simpson at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine or brought him in for a top-30 visit. After serving as a backup quarterback to Bryce Young (2022) and Jalen Milroe (2023-24), Simpson got the starting nod for Alabama in 2025. Across 15 games, Simpson totaled 3,567 passing yards, 28 passing touchdowns, five interceptions and a 145.2 passer rating, while completing 64.5% of his passes. The Crimson Tide finished the 2025 campaign at 11-4, beating the Oklahoma Sooners in the first round of the College Football Playoff before losing to the Indiana Hoosiers in the quarterfinal round. Simpson was the second quarterback selected in the draft, the first being Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza, who was selected by the Las Vegas Raiders with the No. 1 pick. As for who Simpson’s backing up on the Rams, Matthew Stafford is coming off a 2025 season that saw him win NFL MVP honors, but his contract expires after the 2026 season.Latest Sports News from FOX Sports

Shannon Elizabeth Earned $1 Million on OnlyFans in First Week!

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Almost immediately after quietly filing for divorce, Shannon Elizabeth announced her OnlyFans plans.

The American Pie and Scary Movie legend was joining the adult media subscription platform as a creator.

She followed through.

And she has reportedly raked in about $1 million in the first week.

$1 million in 1 week is fantastic

According to Page Six, the beloved actress earned nearly $1 million during her first week on OnlyFans.

As of Monday, April 27, she officially reached the “seven figures” mark — according to the tabloid’s source.

There were even details on how her earnings came in.

“Over half of that was earned through direct messages to OnlyFans users,” the insider explained.

The source continued: “While tips and posts accounted for the rest.”

Elizabeth’s OnlyFans page does not charge a subscription fee.

Most pages that aren’t just promo-pages do, charging anywhere from a few dollars to more than $20.

(If you want people to subscribe at those levels, you need to make sure that your content is worth the money — and that subscribers know what they’ll be getting.)

Individual posts can receive tips. And, by default, OnlyFans DMs that include a tip will appear at the top of the creator’s inbox — snagging attention right away.

Making money like that could mean that the actress had 200,000 fans who each tipped $5 or so. But it likely means that a smaller number tipped more than that.

Some of those proceeds will go to her charity

The actress’ rep told Page Six that at least some of the funds will be going towards her charity, The Shannon Elizabeth Foundation.

It is a support foundation that seeks to help humans, non-human animals, and the environment.

(Unfortunately, Elizabeth sometimes posts genAI slop to promote it, but that’s neither here nor there.)

“She’s always hustling and genuinely loves interacting with her fans,” the actress’ rep characterized.

Elizabeth is not the first actor who seems to like OnlyFans after having enjoyed connecting with fans on forums decades ago before tech behemoths started dismantling the internet for profit. Denise Richards has made similar comments.

The actress shared her OnlyFans news just one day after filing to divorce her husband, Simon Borchert.

However, we later learned that the two had separated last September.

Divorce is expensive.

Some fans immediately speculated that she was looking for a cash infusion as she ends her marriage.

It doesn’t look like money is going to be a worry in her immediate future. Not with this news.

2026 NFL Draft Superlatives: Who Wins OROY, DROY? Biggest Steal? Best Upside?

With the 2026 NFL Draft in the books, it’s time to make bold predictions. Who takes Rookie of the Year honors? Who’ll be the biggest steal? Who winds up as the biggest star years down the line? Here are my way-too-early superlatives for the 2026 class: Offensive Rookie of the Year: RB Jeremiyah Love, Arizona Cardinals With quarterback uncertainty and the lack of a true No. 1 wide receiver, the Cardinals could run their offense through Love in Year 1, enabling him to put up monster numbers. The former Notre Dame star is positioned to be Arizona’s best offensive player not named Trey McBride. 2026 stats projection: 225 carries for 1,265 yards and 8 TDs; 46 receptions for 398 yards and 3 TDs Defensive Rookie of the Year: DE Rueben Bain Jr., Tampa Bay Buccaneers Bain may have slipped a bit in the first round, but as Tampa Bay’s pick at No. 15, he landed in a great situation with a defensive-minded head coach in Todd Bowles. The attention standout nose tackle Vita Vea draws from the interior offensive line could open up advantageous matchups on the edge for Bain. 2026 stats projection: 8.0 sacks, 9 tackles for loss, 1 forced fumble Steal of the draft: TE Eli Stowers, Philadelphia Eagles The athletic Stowers broke the vertical jump record for tight ends at the combine. Last season at Vanderbilt, he won the John Mackey Award as college football’s top tight end — in just his third year playing the position. His growth could be exponential in Philly, where he’s positioned to be Dallas Goedert’s successor. 2026 stats projection: 36 receptions for 387 yards and 3 TDs QB1 in five years: Fernando Mendoza, Las Vegas Raiders At least for now, Mendoza’s only challenger for this spot appears to be Ty Simpson, who the Rams picked as Matthew Stafford’s eventual successor. Not only does the No. 1 overall pick have the edge in physical traits and clutch performances, but his well-documented mindset makes it hard to believe that he won’t be at least an average starter. Plus, Mendoza has the greatest quarterback of all time in his corner in Tom Brady, a Raiders minority owner. 2026 stats projection: 62.5% completion rate for 3,744 yards and 18 TDs with 10 INTs Best long-term player: S Caleb Downs, Dallas Cowboys The only knock on Downs is that he plays a position that isn’t highly valued in the modern NFL. Widely regarded as a generational talent, Downs has the instincts, intellect, versatility and play demeanor to become one of the league’s top safeties for many years to come. 2026 stats projection: 2 INTs, 11 pass breakups, 94 tackles, 3.0 sacks (Pro Bowl) Biggest rookie breakout: LB Jacob Rodriguez, Miami Dolphins The Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year joins a Dolphins team that has two established off-ball linebackers in Jordyn Brooks and Tyrel Dodson. But Rodriguez’s playmaking ability makes him a candidate to be one of the best players on new head coach Jeff Hafley’s defense by season’s end. Rodriguez recorded 10 forced fumbles, 21.5 tackles for loss, five interceptions and 10 pass breakups over his last two seasons at Texas Tech. 2026 stats projection: 77 tackles, 2 INT, 3 PBUs, FF Most pro ready: G Vega Ioane, Baltimore Ravens The 14th overall pick, Ioane could be one of the Ravens’ best offensive linemen from Day 1. He made 32 starts for Penn State at left guard. 2026 stats projection: 17 starts at LG Highest upside: CB Jermod McCoy, Las Vegas Raiders McCoy is a mid-first round talent who fell into the fourth round after missing the 2025 season with a torn ACL. If he’s healthy, the former Tennessee star has the potential to be a playmaking CB1 in the NFL. 2026 stats projection: INT, 4 PBUs, 29 tackles (10 games) Top playmaker: WR Carnell Tate, Tennessee Titans Now out of the shadow of Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith, Tate is positioned to fully show what he’s capable of as a WR1 at the NFL level. His contested catching ability, ball-tracking skills and route-running efficiency will make him a friendly and a high-volume target for Titans quarterback Cam Ward. 2026 stats projection: 61 receptions for 896 yards and 7 TDs Best fit: OL Keylan Rutledge, Houston Texans The Texans have desperately needed to stabilize their offensive line for QB C.J. Stroud, and Rutledge — who made 43 starts at right guard in his college career — slots in at one of Houston’s guard spots. Rutledge posted the top athletic score for guards at the NFL Combine, according to Next Gen Stats, which will serve him in both pass protection and the run game. 2026 stats projection: 15 starts at LGLatest Sports News from FOX Sports

Labor Department seeks federal court order to inspect Alaska gold mine

The U.S.  Department of Labor is asking a U.S. District Judge to require a Fairbanks-area gold mine to allow a federal inspection. It’s the second time the department has asked.

The Department of Labor and Alaska Goldmine LLC owners Sheldon Maier and Janne Maier have been engaged in a years-long legal battle since the Mine Safety and Health Administration accused them of refusing to allow inspectors onto the property in 2022, according to court documents.

Alaska Goldmine LLC mines gold ore around Pedro Creek, north of Fairbanks off the Steese Highway, not far from where Felix Pedro first discovered gold in the region in 1902.

The Federal Mine Safety and Health Act of 1977 requires mines to be inspected for health and safety conditions yearly.

Its owners claimed the mine was no longer operational, but according to court documents, inspectors saw heavy digging machines moving at the site and several passenger cars parked at the mine in September 2025. Inspectors flew over the mine in a helicopter later in September but did not see anyone at the site.

Alaska State Troopers informed an inspector in September 2025 that the Maiers accused the inspector of criminal trespass and threatened to arrest the inspector if he went back onto the property without a court order.

The plaintiff claims that the Maiers’ failure to allow inspectors to inspect the property “constitutes a continuing threat to the safety and health of the miners and other persons in or about the mine site.”

Janne Maier told the Alaska Beacon by email Monday that she and Sheldon Maier have retired and are no longer operating the mine after a 2023 ruling from a federal judge. They had not received the summons, as of Monday.

Maier said that they are using their private property, not state land, off the Steese Highway where they haul material to their Fairbanks home for landscaping. No commercial or mining activity is taking place on their private property, she said.

“As we are not engaged in commerce at our current property, and as we are not licensed for any mineral extraction operation or gravel operation, the MSHA agency has no authority to inspect our private property,” she wrote.

These developments come after several years of contention between the parties that began in August 2022, when the Mine Safety and Health Administration of the Labor Department received an anonymous tip that alleged Alaska Goldmine LLC was an unregistered mining operation. Investigators visited the mine in August and September 2022 to conduct safety and health inspections, but court documents stated that Maier blocked them from entering the mine both times. Investigators reported that they flew over the mine in a helicopter and saw pieces of equipment used for gold mining that showed the site was an active mine.

The Mine Safety and Health Administration issued 17 citations totaling $8,134 in penalties to Alaska Goldmine LLC, according to MSHA data. Inspectors also issued an order to halt operations until miners provide proof of new miner training, but they say they saw moving mining equipment at the mine in June 2023.

Inspectors claimed that the mine had up to three employees. Sheldon and Janne Maier wrote in an application to mine on state lands in 2020 and in an email to the Mine Safety and Health Administration officials in July 2023 that they have no employees, and that friends that visit the mine and stay in the trailer are not employees.

In 2023, a federal judge issued an order preventing Maier from operating the mine without an inspection and without proper miner safety training.

Sheldon Maier denied the allegations in a local radio show in April 2023. He said he stopped communicating with the inspectors after they visited his mine on multiple occasions.

“I have 17 egregious safety violations waiting for me,” he said on the radio show.

Janne Maier filed a lawsuit against four inspectors in September 2023, stating that the inspectors violated the coupler’s fourth amendment rights by searching the mine without their permission or a warrant on multiple occasions over a seven year period.

“The MSHA agency has a longstanding history of abusing their mandate and misusing public funds to conduct harassment and coercion against small mine business owners without providing a warrant or evidence of a complaint,” Janne Maier wrote.

The case against the inspectors was dismissed after a judge found that the summons was not properly served.

Both parties agreed to dismiss the case against the operation in October 2024 after Maier wrote that they were no longer mining. However, inspectors say that is no longer the case.

Attorneys for Acting Labor Secretary Keith E. Sonderling filed the federal request for an injunction on April 24 and the case was assigned to Judge Aaron Christian Peterson.
