Eighteen and a half years ago, Luke Bryan stepped onto the stage of the Grand Ole Opry for the very first time. In the audience were over 100 of his closest family members and friends, thanks to his big sister, Kelly, who had organized the group to watch Luke stand in the historic circle for the first time.
That night proved to be both one of the best and most heartbreaking moments of his life because it was the last time he would ever see his sister. She tragically passed away just a few days later.
For one of the first times ever, the country star is opening up about his sister’s death and how it impacted him during an unfiltered conversation on the CNN podcast All There Is with Anderson Cooper.

“I’ve never really explained what happened to my sister. There’s some misinformation out there on the internet, and I think some people kind of like, wonder what happened and think that we’ve tried to cover it up,” he began.
“But there is a very very small percentage of people that die for no reason in the world. And it’s called sudden death syndrome and that’s essentially what they they described my sister’s death as she was in her home doing her laundry, and it was Anderson, it was like, you know, somebody just turned the switch off on her and it was just- it was- it was just tragic beyond words,” he explained.
The Georgia native shared that there were so many “unanswered questions” surrounding her death and that they did their best to get to the bottom of it.
“We wanted to know, could there be a family history of something that her children might have or may have? Your typical findings of an autopsy of someone 39 would be an aneurysm or an embolism or a blood clot of some kind and everything was inconclusive,” he revealed. “She had a pretty severe, uh, like orbital bone injury. So whether she fainted or not, I think she may have went into the floor and kind of knocked herself out. My nephew, uh was three at the time. And I just think I think if someone could have been there, maybe, maybe her chances of surviving would have been- they would have been a lot better.”
Luke described Kelly as the “best mother you could ever dream of” to her three children and said that she meant “everything” to him and his family.
The days after her untimely passing left the singer/songwriter feeling completely numb, but he said that he was ultimately able to find a sense of peace the moment he said goodbye to her.
“The morning of her funeral, I mean Anderson, I don’t know how to vocalize what I was feeling. I mean the nausea. I did not want to go in the funeral home and see my sister. I was just really… not not processing this well. And the fact that I knew at 5:00 p.m I was going to walk in that funeral home and have to deal with this- it was just really I just wasn’t doing well with it,” he admitted.
“And we get in a car and it’s the sensation you get in the car and you know that this has got to happen. And Anderson when I walked in the room- and I’m a pretty spiritual guy and I’m pretty grounded in my belief in Christ and Christianity- and I would say it was the first time in my life I felt a spirit of another world take away my burden in that room. When I saw her, it was like something, it was almost like a pressure valve released. And, and I just feel like between… I don’t I can’t explain it. It was truly like she let – she set me free in that room. And you know, my mother did not have that experience and and I think I was the only one in the family that had that experience.”

His brother-in-law, Ben Lee Cheshire, was left to raise their three children, Jordan, Kris, and Til, on his own. Seven years later, tragedy struck once again when Cheshire passed away, leaving the three children without both of their parents.
Luke and his wife, Caroline, stepped in, adopting the three children as their own.
“It’s just what you do as family. And I guess you go into like a tribe instinct and you, you do what you can to kind of make it […] But Til, you know, it wasn’t necessarily an adoption more like we were, we had to sign paperwork that he’s – he’s our responsibility. And watching him come into our home and have to grieve the loss of his dad was really, really tough. And to watch my wife step up and do the work that she had to do was one of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen,” he shared.
Luke pointed out that in the midst of devastation, you must find the “silver linings” in life, and that’s exactly what they’ve done.
“My oldest Bo and Til, I mean, it is all brotherly. It looks- it looks and smells just like two brothers complaining and fighting and wrestling and giving each other a hard time. But with Tate, my 15-year-old and Til, they have a really special bond, and I can’t imagine a household where Til would have never grown up in it,” he told Cooper. “And, I mean, it’s just been a blessing and a silver lining to have him and to watch the girls go through life and become mothers and… and get through life daily has been pretty inspiring too. I’m really proud of them.”
The “Most People Are Good” singer is no stranger to grief. His older brother, Chris, also passed away in 1996.

Thomas Rhett is tugging at the heartstrings with the release of a new video for his tender song, “Chapter 10.”
Inspired by his real-life love story with his wife, Lauren, the video combines nostalgic clips documenting moments in their lives that have led them to where they are today, with a house full of four daughters and another child on the way.

The video opens with the moment the country star asked Lauren’s dad for her hand in marriage. He notes, “I have loved your daughter since she was 15 and I was 15 and ever since we’ve been dating, I’ve wanted to marry her from day one.”
From there, the uplifting tune begins to play and Rhett sets out to take listeners on a journey of the highs and lows of a relationship and all the milestones that come between. Within the tune, he reveals that their love story isn’t nearly over yet because just as one chapter comes to a close, there’s another one waiting to begin.
He sings, “Chapter ten, girl, we were over/ And I think most people would say Ain’t no way you walking ‘way’s thе final page, oh/ In between my drunk and sober/ I’vе been kneeling down to pray/ We just ain’t got to the part out in the rain where I’d get you back/ And I’d live happily ever after with you honey/ But this ain’t where our story ends/ Goodbye’s only chapter ten out of twenty.”
Through the years of never-before-seen home footage captured by Lauren’s dad, Steve Gregory, viewers don’t just hear about Rhett sing about their love story, they get to witness it through real-life memories.
The first few “Chapters” offer a glimpse into their early days of dating, navigating high school and crossing off a few firsts. As the video moves on, we see them grow up together, say “I do,” and become Mr. + Mrs. Akins. Their life as a family of two doesn’t last long though, as they soon travel to Africa to meet Willa, who would become their eldest daughter.
From there, their love continues to grow, welcoming three more beautiful girls who become part of their story and the memories that unfold in this video. The clips document new kinds of milestone moments like gender reveal parties and Baby No. 5’s pregnancy announcement. Woven in between these personal memories is a compilation of the “After All The Bars Are Closed” singer’s award show wins which always include Lauren by his side.

Penned by John Byron and Blake Pendergrass, “Chapter 10” appears on Thomas Rhett’s latest collection, About A Woman (Deluxe), which added nine new songs to Thomas Rhett’s original project, making for a total of 25 tracks.
The country star recently brought his Better In Boots tour to a close after a year of unforgettable live shows. Next up on the books for Rhett is a trip to the UK in July and August of 2026 as a supporting act on Luke Combs’ My Kinda Saturday Night Tour.

Russell Dickerson is giving fans a look behind the curtain and sharing how his new single, “Worth Your Wild” came to be. After earning record-breaking first-week streaming numbers, the track officially impacts country radio this week and is already one of the most-added songs.
Co-written with longtime collaborators Parker Welling and Casey Brown, the song appears on Dickerson’s critically acclaimed fourth studio album, FAMOUS BACK HOME.
Between the heartfelt lyrics and high-energy adventurous spirit that revs throughout the powerful beats, Dickerson captures his signature country charm while also attempting to push the boundaries a bit sonically.

“I mean it’s like we’re not reinventing the wheel here with this song, but sonically I would say definitely pushed boundaries that, I haven’t heard country songs that sound like that. And so that was so fun,” he recently told Country Now and other outlets.
The song was penned during a writing session at the beach, which also spawned the project’s title track, “Famous Back Home.” “Worth Your Wild” evolved from some “mad huge guitar sounds,” courtesy of Brown, and some off-the-cusp riffs that were felt in the moment.
“He is a metal kid too, and so I was like, I just want something that’s so vibey and a little heavier and groovy. And we just kind of cooked that up,” Dickerson recalled. “I think it was over lunch while we were scarfing it down, and me and him went in and just started doing that and I started singing the title. I just had the title ‘Worth your Wild’…it was like, that’s kind of cool. And I just started freestyling over that.”
Set against a backdrop of winding backroads and starry skies, “Worth Your Wild” captures the thrill of an instant connection. Dickerson celebrates the spontaneity of romance and the promise to match his partner’s energy, creating an unforgettable night together.
He sings, “I’ll make it worth your wild/This gravel goes for miles/ She hit me with that smile/ And she said, “Gun it, keep the night runnin’/ Pull me closer like this Friday night on fire like/ Girl, I like your style/ Keep drivin’ me crazy/ And I’ll make it worth your wild.”

Much like the rest of the record, Dickerson was very hands on with the making of this tune. He put his creativity to the test with each track and the result is a collection as authentic and fun-loving as he is.
“I feel like album one, I was hands on everything. I played the ‘Yours’ guitar solo. I played ‘Every Little Thing’ guitar solo. I played the ‘MGNO’ guitar. I have my hands on everything,” he shared. “And this is the first album since the first that I’ve actually gone back and got my hand really dirty and got in there. So that one specifically was super fun to dive in on.”
Russell Dickerson continues Round Three of his RUSSELLMANIA TOUR, bringing him to hit arenas and amphitheaters nationwide. More dates are expected to be announced soon.
Additionally, he just announced that he will be teaming up with the Jonas Brothers for a brand-new version of his hit, “Happen To Me,” dropping this Friday. Along with collaborating in the studio, the country star recently joined the sibling trio as a special guest on their 2025 Tour.
