‘9-1-1: Nashville’ Delivers Impressive Premiere Week, Drawing 12.4 Million Total Viewers

ABC’s newest first-responder drama, 9-1-1: Nashville, is off to an impressive start in its debut week, proving to be a strong new addition to Ryan Murphy’s popular 9-1-1 franchise.

The series set in Music City premiered on October 9 and racked up 12.4 million total viewers across ABC, Hulu, Hulu on Disney+, and digital platforms in the first seven days, indicating a 231% increase over its same-day audience of 3.75 million, Deadline reports according to Nielsen data.

Even excluding encores, the show brought in 7.8 million viewers, a 108% increase over same-day viewing, along with a 1.51 rating among adults 18-49 in the seven-day window. This data indicates that the show’s first episode was successful in drawing in key demographics.

ABC’s Second-Biggest Drama Premiere

These streaming numbers are already putting 9-1-1: Nashville in the spotlight. After its first week, the series ranks as ABC’s second-biggest drama premiere on streaming platforms alone. Disney reports that this ranks the show just behind the series, High Potential.

The success from the series’ premiere positions it as a standout addition to ABC’s Thursday night lineup, which also includes Season 9 of the flagship 9-1-1 and Season 22 of Grey’s Anatomy. Between both traditional broadcast and streaming numbers, 9-1-1: Nashville is shaping up to be a major hit for the network.

Season 1, Episode 1 Recap

Viewers who tuned into the first episode of 9-1-1: Nashville quickly learned that the series won’t be holding back on any of the drama. The premiere started off by introducing some of the main characters, like firehouse captain Don Hart (Chris O’Donnell), who leads Station 113 through multiple emergency situations around the city.

In between saving lives, a big family secret is revealed when Don unexpectedly encounters his second son, Blue Bennings (Hunter McVey), during an emergency situation involving a bachelorette pedal tavern. This jaw-dropping moment not only reconnects the local stripper with his father but also with Don’s other son and Blue’s half-brother, Ryan (Michael Provost). Ryan has chosen to follow in his dad’s footsteps and also works as a life-saving firefighter at Station 113.

The truth comes out when Don explains that Blue was born from a past fling with Dixie Bennings (LeAnn Rimes) that occurred while him and his current wife Blythe (Jessica Capshaw) were briefly separated.

In between the chaos with the families, the drama continues as the firefighters face a series of life-or-death emergencies, including rescuing a child trapped in a trailer dangling from a historic Nashville bridge and racing to save concertgoers when a tornado strikes a country music festival where Kane Brown is performing.

Other prominent cast members who appear in the episode includes dispatcher Cammie Raleigh (Kimberly Williams-Paisley), Taylor Thompson (Hailey Kilgore), Roxie Alb (Juani Feliz),

9-1-1 Nashville is set to return with a new episode and even more excitement to ABC on Thursday, October 23, and streaming the next day.

As a result of the unexpected incident, White is forced to cancel is show in Albany, New York that was originally set to take place tonight. Luckily, he won’t have to be off the road for long. He explained that he still plans to uphold plans to perform this weekend’s shows in Foxborough, Massachusetts on Friday (Oct. 24) and Hampton, New Hampshire on Saturday (Oct. 25).

Drake White went on to express his appreciation to his fans’ understanding as he navigates the aftermath of the tour bus accident. He also asked his followers to send positive thoughts towards the bus driver as he recovers.

“So thank you to the people that bought tickets to Albany. Sometimes unfortunately, these things happen as we put a lot of miles on these roads and just appreciate your thoughts and prayers for being with our bus driver, and we’ll see you down the road,” he stated.

The singer included two photos of the crash in his post, which shows the entire window cracked on the driver’s side.

Since the announcement, fans have rallied around him and his team by offering an outpouring of encouraging and positive messages within the comment section.

“Praying for your bus driver.”

“Dang, glad y’all are safe! Hope the driver gets well soon.”

“Praying for yall ❤️❤️”

“❤️❤️ sending prayers for everyone”

“Glad y’all are ok, friend ❤️”

“Hugs and prayers, glad your all ok”

This incident occurred in the midst of Drake White’s Keep It Movin’ Tour. The trek launched on October 2 in Lexington, KY and features upcoming stops in New Hampshire, Michigan, Montana, Ohio, Illinois, and more. It will come to a close with back-to-back dates across Alabama on December 10 and December 11.

Plus, the “Nights on Fire” singer is set to appear at his second Benefit For The Brain charity concert at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on November 17. The show will feature performances from Riley Green, Jon Pardi and Kassi Ashton along with other special guests.

Through this event, White’s non-profit The Benefit For The Brain will donate proceeds to carefully selected charities that reflect causes close to White’s heart, including supporting mental health for military personnel and veterans, especially those dealing with PTSD, promoting brain health in children and adolescents and advancing innovative approaches for stroke recovery and neurological treatments.

Last year, the first Benefit For The Brain show sold out the Ryman Auditorium and featured a star-studded lineup of artists like Randy Houser, Jamey Johnson, Green, and Colbie Caillat. This epic night raised over $253,000 for the important causes.

White’s journey to starting the charity began in 2019 when his life changed dramatically during a performance in Roanoke, Virginia. What he thought was a normal set quickly turned into an emergency situation when he suddenly collapsed and had a stroke. This resulted in him being diagnosed with an Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) and having to undergo seven complex brain surgeries performed by Nashville neurosurgeon Dr. Mericle.

Thanks to the support of his family, friends, and devoted fans, White fought his way back to performing and recording music. Inspired by this experience, he launched Benefit For The Brain in 2023, dedicating himself to raising awareness and resources for brain health while encouraging others to “fight the battle between your ears.”

Reflecting on the important night, White wrote, “Together, we’ll raise our voices for brain & mental health awareness, and I can promise it’s gonna be one powerful night of music and hope. Grab your tickets and let’s make a difference!”

She later offered another glimpse into rehearsals, writing, “Pushing myself harder and harder. So excited for this tour and IT STARTS TONIGHT 🤎 I promise you won’t want to miss this tour.”

The 15-date tour will showcase Priscilla Block’s signature charisma and sassy, unapologetic brand of country music for her fans, affectionately known as The Block Party, with stops across the Southeast and Midwest this fall. Greylan James and Payton Smith will join her on select dates.

I feel like there’s so much of my life that I show on the internet and I’m very open, but there’s so many parts of my life that people haven’t seen and I felt like this was my chance to share my story and share a deeper side that people might not know yet,” she recently explained of the album title.

Lainey Wilson Gives Fans A Hilarious Sneak Peek At CMA Awards Hosting Gig

Lainey Wilson is already proving that she plans to bring her witty personality and signature style to her role as solo host of this year’s CMA Awards. The country star recently shared a hilarious behind-the-scenes video giving fans a taste of what’s to come.

“Hey, I’m Lainey Wilson, your host for Country Music’s Biggest Night, the CMA Awards,” she began.

The songstress looked to her left and to her right to see if any other co-hosts would be joining her. When no one else appeared on the screen, she concluded, “Alright, looks like I’m running the show.”

From there, the video quickly took a comedic turn as she requested massive speakers, called for more energy from the crowd, and demanded the perfect wardrobe. However, when she requested a glamorous look for the coveted evening arrived, she was presented with a fluffy ballgown, which hardly fits into Lainey Wilson’s usual style.

“A ball gown?” she asked confused.

With a snap of her fingers, a hot pink rhinestone pantsuit appeared, complete with a stylish cowboy hat.

“There’s some bell in them bottoms,” she joked while scanning the outfit and then nodding in approval.

The “Somewhere Over Laredo” singer also teased that the 2025 CMA Awards will feature “everyone’s favorite country stars,” an “unforgettable opening,” and plenty of surprises and wins.

“This is what it’s all about,” she said.

With speakers blaring, a perfect wardrobe on display, and a few glowing trophies placed around her, Wilson ended the clip with a grin as she stated, “And they say magic isn’t real,” hinting that this year’s ceremony is shaping up to be truly magical.

The caption revealed that “Country Music’s Biggest Night is back and bigger than ever!” and encouraged fans not to miss all the excitement that will on Wednesday, Nov. 19 on ABC and next day on Hulu.

This will mark Wilson’s second year hosting the elite event. Last year, she took the stage alongside Luke Bryan and former NFL star, Peyton Manning, but now, she’s running the show for The 59th Annual CMA Awards.

She recently revealed that she plans to take a page out of her former co-hosts book and include some clever jokes and maybe even a few roasts aimed at her fellow country stars.

“If I can poke fun at people, hey, we good,” she said during an interview on Rolling Stone‘s Nashville Now podcast. “I tried to get them to let me do it last year and they were like, ‘whoa, whoa, whoa… that’s too far.’ But I go way back with these people. Let me make fun of Luke Combs, please.”

This also marks a historic gig as the Louisiana native will be the first woman to host the awards show solo since Reba McEntire in 1991.

Wilson is heading into the night a six-time nominee, tying with Ella Langley and Megan Moroney as the top contenders at CMA Awards. Among her nominations, Wilson is in the running for the night’s top honor, CMA Entertainer of the Year, alongside to- Luke Combs, Cody Johnson, Chris Stapleton, and Morgan Wallen.

“I’m humbled that CMA has trusted me with this role, and I can’t wait to love on this genre that has given me so much,” she added.

Just a couple weeks before the CMA Awards, Lainey Wilson will wrap up her Whirlwind World Tour with a stop in Orlando, FL on November 8.

Meghan Patrick and Mitchell Tenpenny Celebrate 3 Years of Marriage With Heartfelt Tributes

Country artists Meghan Patrick and Mitchell Tenpenny are celebrating three years of marriage, and to mark the milestone, they exchanged heartfelt tributes on social media.

Meghan’s post featured a series of snapshots from their rustic Tennessee wedding, from a black-and-white photo of their first dance to candid moments from the reception.

Reflecting on the ups and downs of the past year, Meghan opened up about the challenges of balancing their busy careers with married life.

“3 years of being married to my best friend,” she began. “Year 3 has been one of the most incredible years but also the hardest… month long tours apart through Europe, Australia, and all over North America, radio tour on the days we usually get to be together at home… we’ve been like two ships passing in the night.”

Despite the distance and demanding schedules, Meghan expressed deep gratitude for their life together.

“Building our dream forever home and truly putting down roots. It’s been challenging and stressful at times, but what a blessing it is to be overwhelmed by a life I prayed for. What a gift it is to miss you so much while we’re out chasing the dream, and know that the time apart doesn’t make you love me any less,” she sweetly shared. “You are my biggest cheerleader and my best friend, and while we’ve got big dreams and big plans, the only thing I could never stand to lose is you, and that keeps me grounded. It’s a crazy feeling to know I could lose everything and as long as you were there holding my hand, it simply wouldn’t matter.”

In closing, Meghan wrote, “Thank you Jesus for sending me a man that was made to love me and that I was made to love… happy anniversary baby @m10penny.”

Mitchell kept his anniversary message short but heartfelt, sharing a sweet selfie of the couple by the lake and writing, “Happy 3 years @megpatrickmusic. I couldn’t be more proud to be your husband. Thanks for inspiring me every day to be better. I love you! Cheers to many more!”

Meghan Patrick and Mitchell Tenpenny tied the knot on Sunday, October 23, 2022.

The artists first met in a Nashville bar, where Patrick caught Tenpenny’s eye wearing camo. Four years later, they returned to the very same spot, and Tenpenny proposed to his longtime love. As they say, the rest is history.

Pras Michel Teams Up With Mark Wahlberg For Documentary About Trump Fiasco

A Hip-Hop Icon’s Legal Saga Heads to the Screen

Pras Michel is turning his federal conviction and musical legacy into a documentary, teaming up with Mark Wahlberg to tell the story behind his dramatic fall from Hip-Hop fame to a possible 22-year prison sentence.

The former Fugees member is collaborating with Wahlberg’s production company, Unrealistic Ideas, to develop a film that traces his rise in music and his entanglement in one of the largest international corruption cases in recent U.S. history. Unrealistic Ideas president Archie Gips is also producing the project.

“Everyone is fascinated by all the twists and turns, like it’s some kind of thriller,” Michel told Variety. “But for me, this is just my life — the real, messy, complicated truth of what I’ve been living through.”

From Grammy Wins to Federal Charges

Michel, once part of the Grammy-winning trio the Fugees alongside Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean, was convicted in April 2023 on 10 felony counts. Charges include conspiracy, witness tampering and operating as an unregistered foreign agent for China.

At the center of the case is Malaysian financier Jho Low, who remains a fugitive. Prosecutors allege Michel accepted millions from Low to influence U.S. politics, including illegally contributing to Barack Obama’s 2012 presidential campaign. Authorities also claim Michel attempted to disrupt a Department of Justice investigation during Donald Trump’s administration.

Wahlberg Steps In to Produce

Wahlberg said he’s eager to help bring Michel’s story to the screen. “I’m rooting for Pras and excited to tell his story,” Wahlberg said in a statement.

Gips described the story as “a surprising mix of pop culture and geopolitical intrigue that feels like a spy thriller come to life.” The documentary will explore Michel’s musical success, legal downfall and his alleged role in helping Low avoid extradition while maintaining political influence in the U.S.

A Complicated Legacy

Michel’s legal troubles began in 2019, when he was first charged in connection with the global 1MDB scandal. The New York Times reported that the case exposed a complex web of foreign money, political donations and international influence.

Before the courtroom drama, Michel helped shape Hip-Hop history with the Fugees’ 1996 album The Score, which sold more than 22 million copies worldwide and featured hits like “Killing Me Softly” and “Ready or Not.”

Michel’s sentencing date has not yet been scheduled. The documentary, still in development, aims to give viewers a full picture of his journey—from global stardom to federal court.

Hip-Hop Musical “Slam Frank” Reimagines Holocaust Victim’s Book Through Lens Of White Privilege

Andrew Fox continues to stir conversations in New York’s theater scene as his polarizing Hip-Hop musical “Slam Frank” secures its second extension at Asylum NYC, now running through November 16.

The co-creator and “master troll”—a title bestowed by _The New York Times—_will maintain his dual role as The Director and Mr. Van Daan during the extended run of the sold-out production.

Fox developed the controversial work alongside collaborator Joel Sinensky, transforming Anne Frank’s Holocaust diary into what they describe as an “intersectional, multiethnic, genderqueer, Afro-Latin Hip-Hop” theatrical experience.

The musical emerged from a viral Twitter thread that posed the provocative question: “Did Anne Frank ever acknowledge her white privilege?”

This social media controversy became the foundation for a stage production that follows a performatively progressive community theater attempting to “decolonize” Frank’s famous diary.

Since its debut, “Slam Frank” has generated intense debate within theater circles and beyond. The production has drawn both fierce criticism and passionate support, with some viewing it as an innovative artistic expression while others consider it an inappropriate treatment of Holocaust history.

Fox’s background includes previous work in experimental theater, though “Slam Frank” represents his most high-profile and contentious project to date.

The musical features a diverse cast including Olivia Bernábe, Alex Lewis, Anya van Hoogstraten, Austen Horne, Rocky Paterra, Walker Stovall and Jaz Zepatos.

The production team includes director Sam LaFrage, music director Alex Harrington, and choreographer Nico DeJesus, who have crafted a Hip-Hop-infused theatrical experience that challenges traditional Holocaust narratives.

Ticket demand has remained consistently strong despite—or perhaps because of—the surrounding controversy.

The musical’s ability to generate discussion has translated into box-office success, prompting management to extend the run twice in recent weeks.

The show’s Instagram account has amassed nearly 90,000 followers, indicating significant social media engagement around the production.

“Slam Frank” represents a broader trend of artists using Hip-Hop to recontextualize historical narratives, following in the footsteps of productions like “Hamilton” while tackling significantly more sensitive subject matter.

The extended run through November 16 provides additional opportunities for audiences to experience one of Off-Broadway’s most talked-about productions this season.
